Back in Balamb once again, Rena's travels seemed to take her every which direction possible lately. But She was alone in her travels more and more I seemed, She hadn't seen friends in quite so time, and she wasn't entirely sure where Celes had gotten off to either. The radio they'd had wasn't working for some reason, or maybe it was. Letting out a heavy sigh She walked along, having left her airship settled a fair distance away where it wouldn't be bothered or found without herself. Regardless as early morning was on the horizon she shambled on like a dark beast from the aether, her Tails seeming limp but she kept them held just inches above the ground, even as they gave only slight swaying back and forth. Rena moved forwards, feet dragging a little as she went making her way into the city of Balamb. The sun was rising further in the sky as she made her way through town now, pausing from time to time to glance in any shop windows, sniffing at the air somewhat as she'd linger.
By Now People had started to filter out and into the streets and sidewalks, meandering about on their day most seeming to avoid her entirely. From time to time she would get bumped or pushed out of someones way, herself glancing at them every so often after she'd stumble a bit. A low grumble escaped her form, though it was only from her stomach as she inhaled deeply, letting out a long sigh after a moment.
* Ahhaha Look at the Freak! * This was what she heard and not even seconds later their was a tug at her tails, a couple of Children had grabbed them and were pulling as hard as they could. She would fall after a few more tugs from them, groaning slightly as she'd sit their. Some Adults seemed to Join them, laughing at what the children were doing, or maybe just laughing at her. It wasn't until the children began picking up rocks and throwing them at her that she really responded, Curling her tails around herself to soften the blows as they tried to pull them open, to uncover her for their assault. Pushing herself up she would finally growl out, onfurling her tails and curling at least two children into them till only their heads were seen.
~ Who's the Freak! Huh! I was minding my own Business till you .. you little monsters started to harass me! ~ Now of course she should have seen it coming, as the children yelled out crying for help from her, and if she was actually in the thought process she would have paid mind to some of the men walking along the street that had seen the goings on. But now their were children, their human children in seeming danger, even if Rena wasn't going to hurt them more then a few bruises. She would scream out when suddenly a jolt, hen a warm pain throbbed from the back of her head. A Rather large board having made contact and was still in the hands of the man who'd held it as he begin to pull back ready to swing again. She lost her focus enough that her tails uncurled letting the children fall to the ground and get away, herself turning to meet the new assault as the sound of air passing a moving object clung to the air. She'd put her arm up, enough that it would catch the middle of the board causing it to shatter apart where it hit.
~ By the powers...... shhhhhh gods that Stings!!! ~ Growling as she'd look at the Man while she shook her arm, the tingle that crawled up it as if it had fallen asleep. She wanted to laugh and just cry at the same time, But her eyes were on the Man now.
* Go back where you came from or die! Your the Monster harming innocent Kids! * She was ready to give this Man a fine thump as it was now, only to hear more people yelling at her now. How long though had they been yelling.. men, women, more children.. and more then a few with things at the ready to defend their fine city and children. This was adding to her irritation, ready to just tear the place apart as they'd yell. She'd flattened her ears to her head from all the noise by now but she was still definitely ready to give them something to really yell about.

Gabriel had just entered Balamb Town. He was wearing the same colour and style trousers as before, black, with a white stripe down the sides. However, due to the bandage on his neck covering the wounds he had gotten fighting those Grants, he was wearing something over that, a sleeveless, black, trench-coat, with white trimming. Of course he was wearing his mask as well, but that didn’t really need to be said.
As he looked around for his favourite restaurant, to grab a bowl of Raman, he started to notice a gathering and shouts coming about some monster. He tilted his head to the side slightly and looked over the crowed with a slight jump. What he saw he did not like, a young woman being harassed by some people. He could guess what had happened; he had seen it all too often, even in his young life. So, he decided to help the woman out.
With that settled he took a couple of steps back and launched himself into the air. As he was about to land he bounced gently off one of the members of the crowd. He did this a couple of times as he crossed the small sea of people. As he was about to land in the middle he perched on a slightly elevated area. As he was perched there he tilted his head slightly and looked at the crowd before looking at the girl.
Ok, he was not a full member of SeeD, at that point in time, but, he still believed it was his duty to keep the peace and to try and keep Balamb having a good reputation. So, after a moment or two of perching and looking around with a tilted head he finally spoke, his voice, soft, but, at the same time contained a large presence, an almost commanding nature about it, “May I ask what is going on here. Here I was coming to eat a bowl of Raman, and what do I see, a bunch of thugs picking on a young woman. “
He paused for a moment as he hopped down from his perched position showing the fact he was a lean, but tall character, slightly taller than average at least. At first glance he looked skinny, but, taking a closer look his body was lined with long wiry muscles, and a solid chest and abdomen, the result of years of hard training in Garden, “Now, I may not know the entirety of the situation, but, does it take so many people to deal with one woman. This makes me think that you guys are nothing but cowards and weaklings.”
Rubbing the back of her head, she would pull her hand around, seeing just a bit of blood on her fingers her vision cut off partially from the crowd as a new voice joined in with the crowd. The yelling its self had calmed down, a few of the Men and women trying to speak all at once to the new male.
* She was attacking the Children!!! * * Who knows what all she was gonna do to them!, She's a freak! A Monster.. Her Kind shouldn't be allowed to walk Gaia!!! *
A Couple of Rocks were flung by a few kids at her back again, causing a slight wince as she'd turn. Not looking at the man trying to figure out whats going on. Perking an ear up as her tails were twitching, a sign of her irritation, standing up as she'd stretch a little the wound on the back of her head healing up slowly but it was healing.
* This is our town! Our Homes and Family! We will protect all of Balamb from her or her kind no matter how many of us it takes! *
She could feel the angry looks directed at herself, but she could only let out another sigh as she stood there a moment. She was plenty irritated, but hearing how much she was suddenly hated when she had not started a single thing till they assaulted her. Glancing back to the man that had put himself near her she hung her head again, tails going mostly limp to hang just a few inches above the ground.
~ Don't waste your time a monster such as I isn't worth your effort... ~ Mumbling a bit as she would begin to shuffle on, coming closer to the circle's edge that had surrounded her. She would give a low growl at the people who didn't seem as though they were going to move and let her pass, the problem being that they didn't move. They stood their ground as she paused in step, glancing at the ones before her. Searching their eyes to see if they would move, but all that came was a fist from the side, herself catching it with more agility then she'd shown so far. She'd grip the man that had thrown the punches fist until a bone cracked before letting it go.
~ I'm moving on my way, are you all not going to allow me to? Or is it perfectly normal for you... people to let your children harass and assault someone, but when they defend themselves you think you need to gang up and make them the bad guy... ~ She was talking to them in a relatively normal tone at this point, but her mind was focused on just moving.. finding something to eat and some nice interactions and keeping to herself. Which in all sense seemed as though that thought process was asking the world and then some, she wanted to find a nice semi dark place to get some food and rest her feet.. well in her sense foot paws despite her human look, the ears, tails, and feet/paws were signs enough to set her apart. This thought process brought her back to the man that had stepped in moments ago, thinking she had heard him mention something about Ramen. It also took her mind off of the fact the man was screaming about his hand and the broken bone in it.

Gabriel stood there as the group shouted their complaints at him. He could understand their concern; it was not often they got someone who looked like, well, the woman he was trying to defend. However, he thought they would be better than this, judging someone on their appearance. Sure, there was the situation that she had gotten angry with the children, but, from looking at the children there were no visible signs of physical abuse. Maybe, he was hoping, that it was a misunderstanding and the children had been mean to the woman and she was just telling them off.
From the situation he had seen at that current point in time, it seemed that might be the most likely scenario. Then there was the fact that Gabriel could sense something about the woman, she seemed powerful, but, she also seemed to have a gentleness about her. From the feelings he had been getting from her, and his feelings were usually right, that she would not attack children, unless she had to. Then the children threw stones again, which, actually got him a little annoyed. He turned to them and walked up, “Look kids, go home, before you see what a real monster is like.”
With that he heard a crack and turned his head to see one of the men clutching his fist complaining that she broke it. Gabriel sighed and turned on his feet and walked up to the man. Taking the broken hand in his hands he examined it. Ok, Gabriel was not doctor or healer, but, he had enough skill to judge how badly it was hurt. He then looked at the man, “From what I can gather, it is not a serious break, go to the doctor’s and get it seen to, and take those kids with you, they do not need to be here.”
When he had dealt with the children and the man with the broken fist he turned to the crowd once more, “Fellow residence of Balamb, why do you truly wish to hurt this woman? Is it because you are scared, angry? I do not fear this woman, why should you? I have judged the situation, and, there was no harm to the children, in fact, if you think, the children have done more harm to her then them to her. Do you wish to harm this woman, solely because she looks different, that is not a good way to go about things.”
He stopped for a moment or two to think about what he was going to say next, “If you wish to harm her solely because she looks different that is not something I can allow. For, if this is the case, that is intolerance, and, I know some of you, I’ve know some of you since I was a boy. I do not see intolerant people, I see people who I have come to call friends. However, if you attack this woman, the notion of intolerance from the people of Balamb would spread, would you have this proud land called a nation of ignorant bigots.”
Once more he stopped to think before he continued again, “If that notion, that notion of intolerance and bigotry spread, what, if a real monster came, simply because they did not like this notion. What if that was the case, and that monster laid waste to your lands and hurt your children. From what I have seen, this woman has only defended herself from your hate. However, the monster that could come from your actions would not hurt you to defend yourself, but for the enjoyment of it. Lay down your anger, your hatred, and today you can say, I was there when the people of Balamb showed that they were not hate filled, were not bigots, were not intolerant. We are the people of Balamb and to fight for no reason is to fight for the destruction of us all.”
Her ears perked for a second, those fox like appendages swiveling a little as the man yelled, her mind on getting some food. She turned a bit looking up to the man a moment as he took and looked at the other mans broken hand, herself stepping back just a bit and looking about at the crowd of people once again. Many of which still kept their eyes on her but it took only a few moments for them to look at the man once again, Hearing him speak up as she slunk back from the group, closer to the building behind them and, the one the male had been atop of moments before.
* You Say we should be tolerant! Of Monsters... or Beasts and the like.. to ignore them or let them come to harm us in our own home. Maybe more will come if we get rid of one.. that's only a possibility...that is like saying we should roll over and let them have their way with us!! * Of course their was always bound to be someone who would try and change that opinion and make it alright to defend their home in one sense of the word.
~ Seems theirs still plenty of intolerance... ~ Mumbling a bit under her breath, as she had listened on to both him and the Random stranger in the crowd. She would take this chance to get herself away from the entirety of the situation, Staying to the wall and inching slowly by the people and around a corner of the building. She moved town the alleyway and to another side street, hearing people still yelling their agreements and disagreement towards what the man had been saying.
* We do know you! As well as that you grew up here! We would have thought you'd defend your home from her kind as well! But you merely defend her! * It was at this moment that the one arguing with the male would point to where she had been standing but minutes before only for everyone to look there. No one seeing her they all began to look around before some focused on the man once more. * See what you've done! You let her get away.. What if she's off and trying to hurt someone! Everyone! Everyone! We must find her immediately! *
Obviously a few had not cared for anything he'd said, while the majority dispersed peacefully, watching a small group gather and begin to move off and search for her. By now she was sitting in another side alley, eyes close and back against the wall of a building. A low grumble escaping her stomach once more, this brought her thoughts to the last time she'd actually bothered to go find something to eat, as well as the man having mentioned ramen if she remembered right. ~ Seems I can't keep myself out of trouble at all even still, though it's been a while since I even came into any town. ~ A deep sigh would leave her lips as she listened for people in the distance but didn't hear any, figuring they had went on their own ways and left her be. Or maybe they had just dispersed and went searching for her or any other creature to pick on else where.

Gabriel sighed as the man tried to put together a flimsy argument. Of course Gabriel did not mean it like that, that they should roll over and let the creatures do what they wanted. However, from what he had seen, she had not done any harm, well, except to the man who fist she had broken, but, that was only in self defence. He had always had a good sense for what was in a person’s heart, and, she seemed like she meant no harm, and that she was just walking around town. However, he had almost given up trying to reason with them, so, he just stood there and listened.
However, from the corner of his eye he caught sight of someone moving, it was the fox woman. He did not want to bring attention to it, so, even though he kept his eyes tracing on her, thanks to his mask, it kept that little fact hidden. When she had snuck away he looked back at the arguing man and it was at that point that he pointed to where the woman had been. A small smirk, hidden by his mask, crossed his face as the surprised and annoyed look appeared on his face and, blamed him.
Not long after the crowd dispersed except for a small group who, assumedly, went to look for the fox lady, luckily in the completely wrong direction. When it was clear he turned on his heels and began to walk idly away, well, it seemed so, but, he was in fact walking towards the alley that the woman had gone into. He was sure that it had been a misunderstanding brought on by intolerance, but, he would like to hear the whole story, and, since he had heard the town’s people side, it was time to hear the woman’s.
When he was sure everything was clear, he slipped into the alleyway and walked down it. It was at that time he heard a grumbling sound and what the fox woman had said. Gabriel smirked once more, before he continued down the alleyway. It did not take him long to reach where she was hiding. He leaned against the other side of the alley and looked at her, his piercing yellow eyes peering straight at her, “Tell, what did you do that got the town’s folk so riled up. I’m sure it was a misunderstanding, but, I’d rather hear the whole story. As my friend Karrl says, there are always two trails to track.”
She had her eyes closed when she would be found again, her ears perking up ad twitching, swiveling about some and focused on the light sound of footsteps approaching. She wasn't to worried about them as it was only one set and not many more, herself opening an eye to look at the man who finally came into view. She would look him over a bit better now that their wasn't a mob surrounding her, or threatening her. Exhaling after taking a deep breath, she opened both eyes and tried not to focus on her stomachs complaints. ~ mmm hear my side of the story as well hrm...I don't think it will be to much of an entertaining story, I came into town to get something to eat my own stock of food I've not bothered to replenish lately. Anyways, I came into town to get food.. not the first time I've been here, but normally I come in the evenings and goto a tavern or such.. Big Burly guys are less threatened by me you could say.. ~
Taking a deep breath as her tummy gave a rather loud grumble of complaint she would move a bit to stand back up leaning against the wall. Looking either way down the alley she'd look to him once more, continuing on with her description of what happened. ~ I was walking through town, a group of children grabbed my tail, pulling me down then continuing to harass me. It didn't help that a Adult was encouraging their behavior... but I ended up picking some of the kids up in my tails when someone hit me across the head with a board or something.. then you showed up and I took advantage of my chance to escape ~
She was at least being direct about what happened, and she had taken notice that he had mentioned the name Karrl, a name she had heard and been privy to directly before in her visits to Balamb. Another grumble took her as she'd haunch forwards a bit, hands on her knees as she'd inhale deeply, her hunger pains getting the better of her. Of all the things that she could fight and destroy and more, her stomach after not having eaten anything for a while. ~ mmm by the nine.. ~
Looking to him again she stood up again, shifting her feet/footpaws on the cool ground a bit, her tails twitching a bit erratically. ~could we... possibly continue this conversation while eating.. I really.. really would like to get something to eat...you can even tell me how Snowflake is doing then. ~
