As the boat from the Midgar continent pulled into the tourist port of Balamb, the sun shone in welcoming of the holiday makers and day trippers, as well as those who were visiting for other reasons or were simply returning home. Danel didn't even know why he was here, in fact he hadn't known that this was the ships destination. He just had to get off Midgar no matter what and had stowed away on board, becoming invisible when the crew searched the cargo holds where he had made himself comfortable for the trip. At least as comfortable as possible, given the cramped conditions, but he just didn't have the gil for a better seat. Of course, that combined with having to use his power resulted in him feeling rather tired and sore and he wondered if there was somewhere he could rest up.
Wandering through Balamb, Danel stretched as he felt the sunlight bathe his skin. It must have been a few years at least since he had last felt that kind of sensation and he had to say that it felt rather good. He had almost forgotten what the sky looked like, never mind the feeling of sunlight or rain. Now that was a distant memory. At least away from Midgar and Shinra though, he could afford to relax a bit, but allowing himself to be too much so could be dangerous. Might as well take the opportunity to rest up though, he thought to himself as he scanned the area for a suitable spot. His keen eyes spotted a hotel, but he would rather conserve what little gil he had in case of an emergency of some kind.
Settling on a suitable spot in the shade, he parked his butt and looked up toward the sky. It really was beautiful today and he hoped that he would be allowed the time to enjoy it for a while.

It had not been long since Ryun had arrived on a boat from Galbadia. He did not know why he took the boat, but, he did. Something was compelling him to go further east, beyond the shores of Galbadia, passed the lands he was currently in, which he found out to be called Balamb.
He was not sure where he was going, but, he believed, or at least he hoped, he would know that he arrived, when he had arrived. He hated the feeling of uncertainty he had, but, he also felt certain at the same time. It was a complex series of emotions coursing through him, not that it could be seen on his almost emotionless face.
The Behemoth had been in Balamb for about an hour. It turned out the ship that travelled east, to a place called Esther, did not go until the next day. Ryun had little coin to speak of, so, as he had often did on his travels, he would find a sheltered spot to sleep in.
Resting under a small sheltered around, just slightly larger than he was, he rested his head against the wall and closed his eyes. He hoped sleep would come quick, since, if it did not, it might not come at all. However, at the same time, he wished for dreamless nights.
Ryun had been having, for as long as he could remember he had been having a repetitive dream. It was of him fighting a strange creature. He did not know what it meant, or why he was having it, but, maybe, just maybe, it was some kind of clue to whom he was, or where he was from.
Sighing, he gave up on sleep and slipped from under the sheltered area and looked around. He noticed a number of people staring at him, and whispering as they walked by. He was use to this, a lot of people had reacted this way, mainly to do with his size, after all, he was nearly a foot taller than the average male, and twice wider.
Looking around he noticed a young man also taking shelter from the sun. He did not know why, but something compelled him to look at him. He wondered why he found this man so interesting, but, never the less, he kept on standing, and looking at the young man, hoping, with enough looking, he would understand why he wanted to look in the first place.

They sprinted across the town's plaza and towards the dock area. Following swiftly behind them was a swarm of Bite Bugs. Generally on their own these little pests weren't much to worry about and were easily disposed of. Although when a swarm of them gathered that was when you had a problem.
The couple jumped into the sea from the dock to flee the swarm, they clung to the side and waited for them to move. Of course they didn't and began to pester other passerbys, some were even getting stung in the process...

Closing his eyes and basking in the suns rays, he shuddered as he suddenly couldn't help but feel as though he was being watched. Opening his eyes once again, he scanned the area around him until his gaze settled upon a giant of a man, who also seemed to be taking shelter. If this guy worked for Shin-Ra, or worse SOLDIER or Deepground, then he knew he was in trouble. Perhaps taking the time to relax was a careless mistake, and one that could prove costly, and he jumped back onto his feet to move on. If the guy followed him, then he would deal with him, but this wasn't the time nor the place.
As he made his way back through the town though, he was alerted to a scream and a loud buzzing sound. It soon became apparent as to where both sounds had emanated from as a young couple came into view, seemingly running for their lives! They were closely followed by what appeared to be bite bugs and he wondered if they had perhaps managed to disturb a nest of them.
Watching as they jumped into the sea surrounding the dock, the next thing to become apparent was that their anger was not easily sated. He knew he should probably do something, but he couldn't trust himself to remain calm enough to take care of the problem and keep his mind reasonably intact. Soon enough though, he didn't have a choice as he too began to fall victim. A small part of the larger swarm had broken off and were making their way in his general direction. Sighing, he took his rifle from it's holder and took aim. He would have to be good to hit fast moving targets of a less than significant size, but he had little doubt in his abilities.
Sure enough, the first shot was successful and one of the blasted insects fell to the ground. This seemed to anger the rest of them though, and he hoped he'd have time to take more out before they reached him. The result otherwise could be pretty painful!

As Ryun stood there the guy seemed to notice him, and, as the guy walked away, Ryun, for some reason, got the urge to follow him. It was strange really; Ryun was not normally the type of guy to let curiosity get the better of him. However something told him that following the guy was the right choice.
Not long after the man walked away and Ryun followed, at a slower pace, he heard screams. His head shot up and tried to locate the source of the screams. If his normally uncurious nature had a loop hole it was with people he believed were in need of protecting. He did not know why this was, maybe, in his home he was some kind of soldier or guard.
Never the less, it was not time to ponder such thing, he knew he needed to get to the docks, which was, after a short while located where the screams were. As soon as he located the source he moved at startling pace for a guy his size. However, after he got to where he needed to be, he stopped and saw a swarm of giant insects. He looked around, believing, despite his strength, charging head long into the swarm, would not be the best course of action.
He then saw the young man who he had seen before shooting them down. Ryun was not a ranged fighter by any stretch of the imagination, but something struck him, that was not the giant insects. He looked around and saw a large stone wall. Out of nowhere he struck it with and open palm and used every ounce of strength to close his hand around the area of the stone wall.
When he pulled his hand back and opened it, there were a number of bits of different sizes of the stone wall, which, in the palm of his hands looked like pebbles. He took one out of his hand with his other and aimed. After a short aim he threw it with all of his strength and it ripped through the air almost as fast as one of the bullets. When it struck one of them the insect dropped like the stone it had been hit with.

The citizens of Balamb applauded you both and some even gave you pat on the back before going back to their daily business. Beside the docking area of Balamb appeared two twin sisters and by appear they stepped through a pinkish purple portal. They were dressed almost identical and both had the same claw hands. They couldn't be human unless they had been experimented on.
"That was....unexpected."
Her sister nodded at her statement until she shot a look towards you both. With her claw hand raised she ran it through her long blonde hair.

Feeling a pang of satisfaction as the last of the bugs went down, Danel turned to face the man from earlier, who seemed to have followed him. Who was he and what did he want? He moved to confront him when the grateful hoards cut him off from his target. He visibly flinched as some even began to pat him on the back! Their gratefulness was understandable, but he wished that they would leave him alone. He didn't do so well in crowds, or with people in general come to think of it, but he knew that the best thing to do was 'bite the bullet' until they got bored and returned to their everyday lives.
Once they had finally dispersed, and the young couple from earlier had been pulled from their watery sanctuary, he scanned the area again for the large male who appeared to have been stalking him. Once again he moved purposefully in his direction and stopped just a few feet away. Looking him in the eye was difficult as he was far taller, but the attempt was valiant nonetheless.
"Alright, who are you and why are you following me?", he asked in a tone that was more defensive than outwardly aggressive. Perhaps though, if he was that concerned that the guy was working for Shin-Ra then he probably should have tried to lose him. No point trying to put off the inevitable though, he reasoned, as he confronted the man.
It soon became the least of his worries though, as his attention turned some kind of portal opened nearby and out stepped two women, identical twins by all accounts. He felt a little dizzy as he had whipped his head around rather sharply in their direction, but this soon passed. 'They don't smell like SEED?' What was that supposed to mean he wondered, but not for too long as he gave his thoughts voice.
"What do you mean by that, who are you?"

As the bug bites fled he did nothing to go after them. He just watched as they flew back to their natural habitat. However, what crossed his mind was, well, from the look of the town it did not seem that it was the type of place to be constantly attacked by monsters. This brought the troubling question to his mind, what had driven the giant insects to attack.
However, his train of thought was cut off when he felt people thanking him and patting him on the back. Ryun did not really have a problem with contact like this, but, something about it felt strange, in a familiar sort of way. Maybe he was use to that kind of thing, back in his hometown, if he could ever remember where that was, or who he was.
Then the other man came up to him and tried to look him in the eye, but seemed to fail since of the vast height difference between the two of them. Never the less his efforts were valiant. He knew the man in front of him was brave, since, not many people had seemed brave enough to confront him in any way, shape or form.
When the young man in front of him asked the question about why Ryun was following him he had to admit, it was a good question. Ryun himself did not know why he was following him. However, the giant of a man simply put it down to mild curiosity. He knew that might not be the answer the other man was looking for, but, it was the only answer he could give.
Going to answer the question he suddenly stopped when he saw, from the corner of his eye a pinkish portal open. Then two young women, twins, stepped out. To show he knew he was there he simply turned his head slightly towards them, and listened to what they had to say. What they had said made no sense to Ryun, but then again, little in the world did.

"You are of no..."
"..interest to us."
Talk about rude. They slowly raised their free hands into the air and within in a few seconds the same portal as before appeared. They both took one last look at the two of you before entering the portal. It vanished as quickly as it appeared. The mood once the twins had left seemed to become more relaxed as the Balamb citizens that were in hiding showed their faces. Attacks with the Bite Bugs were rare but never the less they were still attacks against a non fighting community.

((OOC: Okay, thanks adi )) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Danel was left looking a little bemused by what had just occurred. No interest? Just who were those two anyway and who or what had they been expecting to find out here anyway? The encounter had left him rather baffled, to say the least.
For now though, his attention returned to the large man who seemed to be still hanging around. He hadn't seemed to be in any particular hurry to give him any kind of reply, but at he at least had been given the chance to calm down and fully evaluate the situation. If this person was indeed a threat, then surely he would have shown it by now, right? Unless that is he had been tasked with dealing with in a more covert manner. Nonetheless, he crossed his arms and sighed before returning his gaze to the man.
"That was weird. Anyway, you haven't answered my question," he reminded him a little more calmly than the situation had previously allowed.

As Ryun stood there he listened to what the twins had to say. So, they were not interested in him, or the other guy. He had to admit, he was relieved. He had a feeling, even though a strange pair, they were powerful, and, if they thought innocents might suffer the consequences of their actions. Ryun was not scared, in fact, so far, he has not felt fear, as far as he could remember, but, he tried to avoid fighting, when people with non-combative ability could get hurt.
Then the other guy turned back to Ryun. He agreed, it was strange, but, it did not bother him much, however, to show he agreed he gave the other guy a simple, short, sharp nod. Then the man stated Ryun had not answered his question. Again, this was true, he had not answered, but he believed there was no answer needed. However, he felt if he did not give him the answer the other guy wanted it would spell trouble. He was not afraid of the guy, but, he would rather avoid a fight when he could, so, he simply stated, “Curiosity.”
Curiosity...what a terribly vague answer, in fact it answered nothing as far as he was concerned. Who just stalked someone simply because they were curious anyway? More importantly though, what did he have to be curious about? He was sure that this guy didn't just stalk random people purely for the sake of it, but then how did he know?
Sighing, Danel folded his arms and let himself fall against a wall so that he was leaning on it. All the while he kept an eye on the mysterious stalker, although he made it look like that he was looking at the floor he spoke.
"Curious about what?" Now he too was curious as to what was so interesting. His guard was still up though, just in case this was some kind of ruse. He didn't mean to be paranoid, but he had to watch his back in case Shin-Ra caught up to him. They wouldn't be taking prisoners, especially were a Deepground runaway was concerned!

Ryun stood there and looked at the man in front of him. He was curious about the guy, simple as. However, the strange thing was, Ryun found, he was unsure what he was curious about. The larger man was an inquisitive individual, or so it seemed from his own point of view, however, there was nothing special about the other guy, from first glance. However, that did not stop his mind wanting to know more about the guy.
As he looked at the guy Ryun realised he still had the stones from earlier. He opened his hand for a moment to look at them. He was a little surprised how much damage, in his hands, these tiny pieces of rock had done. Ryun did not truly know how strong he really was. He was a human, a large one, but a human none the less, but, his strength, that was not human, not in the slightest.
Closing his hand around the rocks for a moment or two he opened his hand again to reveal dust just before it blew away in the wind. He watched as the dust blew away, and as he did, he wondered something… just how strong was he anyways. Currently his strength seemed not to be tested, but, he felt, one day, well, he hoped, that he would find out how much strength was within him. He looked back at the guy and watched him as he rested against a wall.
Then the next question came, curious about what? He looked at him for a moment or two before speaking, “You.” It was as simple as that. Ryun was not a big speaker, and only really spoke when he believed he needed to, and not more than he needed to. It was not that he was shy, it was, well, the reasons behind him speaking as little as possible were lost, even to him. He just felt like, this was the way he liked it, but unsure on the reasons why.
Oh for the love of...which deity could he blame for his frustration anyway, he pondered? To him it was obvious that they had all abandoned him some time ago and he wondered if perhaps before losing his memory he had been particularly religious? Where his family still alive out there and where they praying to some kind of godly being for his safe return? He hoped not, as if they had cared of their subjects well being then perhaps he wouldn't be in this predicament!
Pulling himself from the wall once again, he folded his arms and tapped his foot as he contemplated his next action. He wasn't going to get much more out of this man for now, but he still couldn't let his guard down. Either way, this person was lucky that he didn't fly off the handle for no reason. Well, not unless the blood lust had kicked in...
"Forget it, you a local? Can you tell me anything about Balamb? I'm not that familiar with this place." Of course, for all he knew he had been born and raised here, although that would be far to big a coincidence.

Ryun stood there watching the man, with a subtle amount of emotion on his face. The Behemoth in human form was a very hard man to read, not impossible, but hard none the less. If someone could read him the emotions on his face were quite complex, a mixture of annoyance, contemplation and anxiety. He was feeling this mixture, well, not even he was sure why, but, there could be a good reason.
When the other guy asked if he was a local he honestly did not know. He had not idea where he came from or even who he was. The only things that linked him to his past was a dream, a strange item he kept on him, and his name. The only thing he knew about himself was his name, and the fact the words Sin Spawn kept on cropping up in his dreams. So, to answer the question he simply stated, “Don't know.” He then extended one of his boulder like hands, “Ryun, Ryun Craften.”
The half giant got the feeling the man before him was getting a little annoyed by the fact he was not getting much, if not any information from him. He did not mean to be annoying, it was just, Ryun did not speak often, or so he found. He was not dumb, he just felt comfortable giving the information he had, in a short sharp way. The thing was, with anyone it was rare to get more than four or five words out of him at a time, and even then it was only with people he really felt comfortable, or so he had found in the brief amount of time he could remember.
"You don't know..., Danel repeated as he looked down to the ground once again. Did he mean he simply couldn't remember if he had been or not or that he wasn't familiar with the area? Either way, questioning further would be useless at this point, especially giving that hanging around one area for him was dangerous. This was particularly true as an incident of sorts had occurred here and it was likely to attract the wrong kind of attention. Of course, it would be Balamb's own forces that came to check out the problem, but still he would feel much better moving on as soon as possible.
As his large companion introduced himself and held out an equally large hand, Danel paused before slowly and cautiously returning the gesture. This was possibly a bad idea for two distinct reasons. One was the obvious fact that he could still probably try to pull whilst he had a hold of him. This would put him at a distinct disadvantage, but nevertheless he was confident of his chances if the other decided to turn brute! The other was that being so large, he feared for the safety and integrity of the various bone that made up his hand as he accepted the man-mountains grip. Then again, due to his various enhancements, he was pretty tough himself and so there was a possibility that the encounter wouldn't end in tears after all.
"Danel", he informed him as he attempted to flash him a friendly smile. Truth was, he didn't think he'd smiled at all since his. That would have to change though, he promised himself as the more positive side of his nature kicked in. So much bad had happened that their surely had to be light at the end of the tunnel! Yes, that was the thinking that would hopefully keep him going, provding of course he didn't overdo it! It was hard to be positive though when anyone, anywhere, could be a Shin-Ra assassin. Or worse, a Turk, but then they were one and the same right?
Letting go of Ryun, he paused, allowing a brief but awkward silence to encompass the two, before speaking once again. He had to look up a fair bit though and he hoped that he wouldn't get a crick in his neck or something. That was all he needed!
"I'm outta here anyway, you still following? Guess I could use someone to watch my back. Not sure where I'm going yet though... Straight to the point, as was his style, but it was true that he hadn't planned his next move. Where was he supposed to start anyway? He supposed that he could get by taking odd job here and there, but that wouldn't be easy. How long could he last without mako exposion anyway? His time could be very short if he didn't find a source of the, well, energy source, so he would need to think quickly.
For now though, he looked at Ryun as he awaited an answer. He didn't trust people easily, but there was something about this guy that seemed amicable enough. He just hoped that he was a good judge of character. Besides, someone like Ryun could possibly handle his 'darker side'.

Ryun shook Daniel’s hand with surprising gentleness; even then it was obvious his strength was inhuman. He nodded when Daniel mentioned his own name, “A pleasure.” Ryun was a man of few words, that was painfully obvious, but, at the same time he was a man who seemed to be polite and relatively kind.
In all fairness he was a walking contradiction, he was big, somewhat scary looking and strong, however, at the same time he was kinds, polite and relatively kind. He was the type of guy who was let a butterfly rest on his finger one moment and rip apart the most fearsome beasts the other.
When Daniel asked if he wanted to come along, since he was leaving Ryun had to admit, he was tempted. Daniel seemed like a nice enough guy, despite being easily frustrated, but, he could not, something was calling him further west, he did not know what, be something demanded his body go that way. So, with the question asked he simply shook his head, “Sorry, no, going to Esther.”
It was true, the land that was calling him was Esther, he did not know why, and, in fact, he had only learned the name of the land a short while ago, but, something about it called to him. He nodded his head with a short bow, “Until next time Daniel.” With that he turned on his heels and walked away.
Esthar huh?, he repated, seemingly unfazed by the rejection. It didn't particularly matter one way or the other, but asking more about Esthar was out of the question as just like that, the large man had walked off to his next destination. Strange one, he thought of Ryun as he moved out of sight. He was sure they would meet again somewhere along the line, but for now he wondered what he himself was going to do next. He would need some gil, so maybe he could take on odd jobs here and there. Maybe the inn would have some suggestions?
Making his way through Balamb, he also wondered what the deal was with those strange women. Were they really of no interest or were they just trying to throw them off? Either way, he had little doubt that they too would crop up again.
and it's only me and I walk alone...
