Mini Saga: A Garnet in the Rough Setting: Alexandria Castle
Tonight was the night. The servants of the castle were still rushing around the halls of Alexandria Castle to put on the finishing touches. The main hall was decorated in gold and red with touches of silver. Around the edges were tables joined together with food and drinks. Several tables were designated for any gifts given for Princess Garnet's sixteenth birthday, to the princess it did feel all old fashioned but as she had never left the castle walls she didn't know any different. The young princess sat in her room dressed in a flowing silver and white dress, her long dark brown hair free flowing with a silver tiara holding it in place. She sighed longingly as she pushed her chair back to stand up straight. Her eyes focused onto her mirror, she only looked at herself briefly before leaving her room.
Princess Garnet had only taken several steps before she bumped into her mother Queen Brahne, the middle aged Queen fanned herself furiously as she gazed upon her daughter. Her face scrunched up into a scowl. Queen Brahne bent down and whispered into her daughter's ear.
"Everyone will be here soon do try and smile Garnet."
With that said Queen Brahne vacated the area to make her way to the main hall. Princess Garnet raised her right hand up to her cheek, she could feel her cheeks heating up. Her mother always seemed to have a knack of making her feel like a small child. Princess Garnet closed her eyes tightly to hold back the tears she could feel forming, this was her birthday and she knew she should be smiling and happy.
From downstairs she could hear that her guests had begin to arrive which meant she needed to be downstairs and sat beside her mother. General Beatrix walked up behind the young princess and placed a reassuring hand onto her shoulder. A brief smile crossed Garnet's face as she began to walk with Beatrix down to the main hall. The place was starting to bustle already with the gifts starting to pile up, there were so many faces Garnet didn't recognise and no doubt her mother had her eyes on some of the suitors for her. Princess Garnet sat down at her throne and cast her eyes over those that had arrived. Beatrix and now Steiner were stood beside her. Queen Brahne rushed up to her own throne and sat down beside her daughter.
At the entrance to the castle and the main hall were two stewards holding clipboards, they took the tickets of those entering and their names. The list was to be complied afterwards to see how far the royal family's reach had gone.

Entering Alexandria, the first thing that most people noticed was the castle looming over the town with it's magnificent spires and and appendage that looked rather like a sword. It was a marvelous sight indeed, and one that Noel certainly didn't miss upon passing through the main gates. This place was certainly a lot different to Lindblum, not as busy and a lot smaller but still holding it's own charm.
Making his way through, Noel held on tightly to the ticket that he had come by earlier. Whilst wandering the wilds of the Mist continent a travelling noble had knocked in to him and thrust the ticket into his hand, adding that he should 'enjoy the party. To tell the truth, he wasn't even that convinced that the ticket he held was genuine, although it was rather clear what it was for. It seemed that the Alexandrian princess, Garnet, was turning sixteen and that the party was some kind of coming of age ceremony. He was still a little confused as to what it was all about, especially given that the last party he had been too had only three people in attendance, himself included!
As he approached the moat surrounding the castle, it occured to him that if this ticket was indeed genuine then he didn't know how to act in front of royalty! He'd only heard of kings and queens and princesses in history lessons that the others had taught him growing up. No one had time or optimal health to elebarate further on anything, never mind the things that were long gone and didn't matter anymore. Always open to new experiences though, Noel stepped on board the gondola that was taking people across the moat to the castle. Even that in itself was new as he had never been on a boat of any kind before, but then it was nothing really.
Disembarking at the other side, he noticed the stewards. They were rather elaborately dressed, but as much so as those entering carrying gifts. The only gift he'd ever given was a fresh kill and Noel had a feeling that this wasn't going to quite cut it. He'd have to find something and fast, otherwise he would likely look bad. This would probably mean another trip over the moat though and back into the town. But what exactly did you buy for someone who presumably had everything? ______________________________________________________________ WC: 401 TC: 401

CEles had been traveling for months now on the road and a formal function of any sort seemed the farthest thing from her mind. Yet having stumbled upon an abandoned carriage she found within a corpse with a ticket to a grand gala for the princess of Alexandria. Well for her it would be a welcome time to revert to one of the few things she enjoyed about her position of being a general and that was the formal occasions and socials she could attend.
Thankfully she had money and a lot of it as she was able to find a dress maker upon arriving in Alexandria who would custom fit a dress for Celes that went over her armor and sword perfectly. The dress was a snow white in color and had accents in light ice blue color. Before arriving she would pay the man and would of gotten her hair taken care of to look more noble. Walking to the gate guards she would present them with the invitation and would be let in without a second thought.
Lucky for her it seemed that there where no diplomats from Gesthals lands at the party quite yet or they would recognize her in an instant. Making her way to the far side of the room she would stand and await any interesting people she would see approach her little area.
Ah, the grand city-state of Alexandria, the royal jewel of patriarchies from which all others could only dream to model themselves after. Such a city beamed with hobnobbers like greased rats flooding from an inundated sewer. For Loci, this was quaint. In his time and place, he had witnessed the city wax and wane, finally succumbing to a bloody revolution that turned it into a paradise for workers. Truth and freedom they yelled throughout the streets under banners of yellow and red, while lies and blood snaked through the alleys under banners of ‘The Greater Good’. It was fascinating to watch from afar, but Loci enjoyed monarchs more. They had the gaudiness he so enjoyed – Reds were so… drab. And just Loci’s luck, seems a party was happening the very evening he strolled into town. Festive would best describe the atmosphere. He especially enjoyed the streamers all over the place – very classy. Bullitons and banners proclaimed happy birthday wishes for the Princess, Garnet.
“Garnet?” Loci mused, had been a long time since he heard that name. So, he gathered, there was more than geographical similarities to this world. The famous Princess Garnet, the last great ruler of Alexanderia before it took a turn for the socialists road. And too think, he once helped the Queendom against the onslaught of Na’bils – never did get a thanks. Perhaps, he devised to himself, he should correct that. It, after all, was only proper. So, what if this Princess wasn’t the same as the one he tolerated, surely she looked the same. Maybe he’ll pretend the party was for him instead, revel in the debauchery he could cause, for it was long overdue for some delectable debauchery. First, however, he would need an invitation.
Loci slipped through the streets, thankfully for him, a large rat-thing wasn’t exactly unusual here. And mixed with the crowds, he mingled through with ease till coming to the bridge leading to the castle grounds. He hopped up on the ledge against the moat and slipped into a comfortable recline posture while he surveyed the scene. Two chumps collecting invitations and checking names, not surprising. He’d have to play this clever. He slipped from the ledge and slipped back into the town square, keeping a keen eye out for a some hapless invited guest to cross his path. Namely a Burmecian, if he was so fortunate. It took a desperate minute, but someone came staggering out from a nearby by tavern – dressed to the 9s in official garb and a rat none the less. Someone had been prepping for the night.
Loci slipped through the crowds after him, his slow stagger and drunken shuffle was slow to move and before a moment had past, Loci had come up behind him. He followed, keeping a close tail, till luck once more took to his favor and the dignitary slipped into an isolated alley to relieve himself – utter refinement. Loci followed, waiting for him to begin relieving himself to slink right up behind him. He grabbed him, the drunken man was powerless against Loci’s unnatural strength. “Be honest, do you think these thighs will fit your pants?” Loci coldly muttered as he dragged the Burmecian official into a dark corner of the alley.
Few minutes later, Loci reemerged back onto the street. Dapper and dignified, with a fine hat to boot. He twirled it between both hands and slipped it over his head as he stepped into the flow of traffic leading into the castle. Presented the invitation without a hitch, all Burmecians looked alike to humans anyhow, and walked unabated into the grand gala. He couldn’t resist gleeful flutter from his throat. He did so love a fancy party. WC: 629
OOC: This saga will move forward on Tuesday just to give people the chance to post over the weekend and after it. Those who haven't posted by them will not be allowed to join in after I have posted on Tuesday.
Karrl had been in Spira for a while, and was had been claiming shelter in a small Inn in Luca, trying to collect any data he could find on the mishaps that were happening with the magic in their lands. However, six days previous to the current one he was approached by a young man garbed in a SeeD uniform telling him that he was being given a new, temporary assignment. Due to his efforts in Spira he had been given the role as the representative for Balamb Garden for Alexandria’s Prince Garnet’s sixteenth birthday. He was then given a ticket and a package with his SeeD uniform in it. He was then told to finish up anything that could not wait and then make his way straight to Alexandria.
That was six days ago, as stated before. He has just arrived on the boat which got him to the city. Looking around he was impressed, it was grand, kind of like Balamb Garden, but in a completely different way and for completely different reasons. Just before he got off the boat he had dressed in his uniform. He hated the thing but he knew orders were orders, and he would follow them, no matter what his personal feelings were, hell, if he did not do that he would had never agreed to do the mission in Spira. Taking the last few steps off the boat he stopped and turned his hair, his braided, long, silver hair moving with his head.
Karrl had one hand on one of his sabres, and the over one was raised as he looked at the time. He groaned, he knew, if he did not kick it up a gear he would be late. Looking around for a moment or two he saw what he was looking for. As soon as he found he moved liked greased lightning towards a small house and just before he reached the wall he bent his knees and launched himself into the roof. Without ever break step he continued forward towards the large castle, jumping forward and upwards when he needed to.
Thanks to the shortcut, when he jumped down from a four storey building onto one knee he looked at the time and saw he had gotten there quicker than expected, he guessed his time on Spira had made him faster than when he had been in Balamb. Standing up straight he looked down, brushing off the dust and dirt where he needed to. It did not take him long to straighten himself, and with that he made the way forward to one of the little boats which would, in the end, take him to the castle.
As he stood in the boat he wondered, what was expected off him, and more importantly what was Princess Garnet like. He heard she was a babe, but he knew it would probably not go down well if he hit on the princess, and, as the representative of the Garden he knew whatever he did would reflect on Balamb and the other SeeD, for good or for bad. So, as much as it pained him to do so, he knew he would have to act like a gentleman, and bow and kiss babies when needs be.
It did not take him long to get to the castle and as soon as the boat stopped he went to get off, but stopped when he saw two men hold their hands out. Karrl frowned and got out off the boat himself, he turned to one of them, “I’m not an invalid, so don’t treat me like one.” He then turned his head and walked towards the entrance. He stopped once more, and handed his ticket to them, “Karrl Draven Garm, official SeeD representative to Balamb Garden.” They checked the ticket and the name and let him through. He took a deep breath before stepping into the hallway and finally the grand hall.
Sitting back in the Garden Car, I took one last look at myself in the mirror, before the driver announced that Alexandria was a few minutes away. We'd made good time, I'd have to make sure this driver got a little something extra as a result. A lot was riding on tonight’s festivities. This was my first time attending a formal function since becoming a SeeD. I was briefly informed that there would be dignitaries and other important people attending as well, so this would serve as a neutral place to meet and build the foundations of friendships.
I was taken out of this line of thought by the sudden halting of the car. It would appear that I'd arrived at our destination, and what a spectacular sight. I had seen pictures of Alexandria on the internet but still, there’s a monumental difference between seeing images on a computer and being there in person. The elaborately designed spires, and arches seemed to highlight the beauty of the city, which was further increased by the night sky. I could already tell that security here was tight. Just walking up to the central gate, you could see patrols on the walls, and covering all the exits. This was to be expected, besides being jam packed with foreign dignitaries, Alexandria was also the home to Queen Brahne and her daughter, Princess Garnet. I had been following the main road to the palace, as that was the venue for tonight. It wasn't surprising then that upon my arrival, my credentials were heavily checked before I was given entry. Facing a pair of giant hand carved doors leading to the grand hall, I took a moment to compose myself. It can't be that bad. I'd barely met anyone on the way here.
'Ladies and Gentlemen, hailing from Balamb Garden, on the Balamb Continent, and representing SeeD at tonight's venue, Zeromus von Crozen'. - Before he'd finished, the huge doors slowly swung open and I realised my earlier assessment was wrong. There were people here all right. Loads of people. This would be a very long night. Spotting a waitress moving around with a platter of drinks, I took two and retreated to the corner, drinking and looking around.
Grace; was something Miumi seemed to only be capable of extruding upon the battlefield, but when one fought everyday of their life it became their field. A soft smile adorned Miumi’s face as he rested in the gondola surrounded by many other nobles whom looked at Miumi’s strange form which was complemented by the dress he had bought from a merchant whom had been in the town just for this occasion. As the boat came to rest within a small dock one of the knights of Pluto was standing there and Miumi would extend his hand towards the knight allowing the other to touch his hand. When he felt the cool metal closing around his hand he would just take a deep breath as he fought the instinct to grab the grab the wrist and either break it or fling them into the water knowing that it might become too cumbersome for them to be able to swim. The knight’s hand was merely resting there so Miumi would rise upwards as the boat would jostle too and fro slightly and Miumi would push off gently allowing the knight to step backwards almost stumbling as Miumi connected with the ground and collided with their chest.
A faint blush adorned his face and Miumi looked back up at them giving a gentle smile as he would let go of the other’s hand giving a kurt wave as he would walk forward. The soft click of the blacked heeled sandals against the pavement was somehow calming as Miumi watched the crowd ahead of him slowly diminish it was when Miumi stepped into the light that one truly saw Miumi’s style. He was wearing leather tights underneath a dress that had a variety of oriental designs that slid along the legs of the dress which had been slit to allow the full movement of his body and as well as allowing easy access to the holister that remained tight to his body and was strapped down somewhat so it didn’t jut out when he moved. Miumi’s petite face was framed by his hair being straightened from the front to the nap of his neck before it was pulled into a hair braidand then had been curled; a simple look that required no pins the likes.

The purple tips of his fingers slipped out of nowhere in the middle of the bridge to Alexandria castle, they quickly trace a circle around in the air before they vanish once more however the air in the center of this circle no longer shows the view behind it but instead a hallway in Deling City could be seen for an instant before a tall imposing figure steps through. The figure would be instantly recognisable as Belzera Grimoire, he wore a formal black suit underneath a long black silk cloak that actually covered from his neck down hiding his form from a casual glance, his long dark purple hair was parted in the center as normal, his gold and red eyes cast a piercing glare at the guards.
As the demon steps towards the two guards two small figures float through the portal behind him, one was a long green haired woman, with emerald green eyes and was wearing a ruby red dress and the other was a small golden haired and golden eyed man who was wearing a black suit, by the time the demon stood right infront of the two guards the pair had rested on the demons shoulders. The guards take a step back, one hand ready at their sword as the demon whips out the invitation they had been provided with, seeing the invite the guards relax and the demon smiles as he speaks.
"Sorceress Blue and General Grimoire of Galbadia."
With that he steps aside, dropping his hands down back under the cloak as he turns to look at the portal as he waits for Blue to step through the portal.

Blue brushes herself down before double checking herself in the mirror one last time, she was dressed in black suit trousers (She was never comfortable in dresses no matter the occasion.) with a black short sleeved shirt tucked in and held in place with a leather belt with a plain silver buckle. She had black and white leather shoes on and around her hands were white bandages tightly wrapped finally her hair was braided back, it had taken what felt like hours for the hair dresser to get it done and she hadn't done it willingly either, it had taken a threat of a bald head for her to agree, yet she did have to admit now, that it did look nice to see braids in her hair. With her final once over done with she cracks her fingers, spinning around on one heel and moving with a large stride towards the door from her room, gripping the handle she opens the door to see the demon step through the portal to Alexandria. She hears a cough to her side.
"Yes?"
She asks as she turns to see General Caraway holding out a small parcel in his hands and a small smirk on his face.
"A gift for the princess, from Galbadia, your idea of course."
Blue returns his smile and takes the package from him before giving him a slight nod of the head.
"Hold the fort down."
With that she steps through the portal the demon had made for their journey. Her spine crawls as she now finds herself stood on the cobblestone bridge infront of an imposing castle that felt like it was watching her, she didn't stare up at the castle instead she took another step forward, away from the portal, allowing the demon to close it before she flashes a smile towards the guards. She speaks with a polite and surprisingly refined tone, considering she had a (rightful) reputation for being a brash, crass and vulgar mannered woman.
"I assume the General has handed you our invites, now I assume that there is an escort waiting to show us to the party."

The small but extravagently dressed band began to tune up their instruments in preperation for the celebration to fully begin. The two stewards at the door looked at their clipboards before nodding to each other, it seemed they were content at the number that had been admitted into the castle. Those not inside the castle at this point only had a few minutes to make their way inside until the doors where shut to admission.
Another young male steward rushed up to Belzera and Blue, he bowed quite low to show his respect for their stature.
"Sorceress Blue and General Belzera please follow me into the great hall."
He couldn't be much older than twenty and he seemed a little over excited but this was a royal affair and the more help they had from the inside the better. In events such as these the royal family rarely sought outside assistance. The young stewards weaved in and out between various high standing attendees, his eyes moved over to the two SeeDs that had arrived and then over to a young woman in an elegant white and icy blue dress. He looked back to Belzera and Blue and with a wave of his hand he signalled where the gift table was. By now the gifts had begun to pile up, not to mention various envelopes being passed to an elderly gentleman steward holding a silver tray.
With several loud glass like chinks everyone's attenion was now diverted to Queen Brahne. She stood tall and proud towering over Princess Garnet who simply sat with her head lowered and her eyes to the floor.
"Welcome everyone to my home, it is an honour to have such a wide variety of people from lands far and wide. My daughter Princess Garnet turns sixteen today and with that brings great responsibility, it is a sad day that my husband is not here to see his little girl celebrate the start of her journey into womanhood. This is not only a birthday celebration but it is here that the bonds between Alexandria and your lands will strengthen. Please enjoy the evening and help yourselves to wine and the feast which is now being set out."
Queen Brahne slowly sat down and then leant over to Princess Garnet.
"Go on Garnet and mingle with them, you need to find a suitor before I will let you take on the throne."
The young princess looked up to her mother with such a sad look upon her face it was painful to see for those who did see it. Garnet stood up pressing any crinkles out of her white and silver dress as she moved onto the dance floor. Queen Brahne then called over Steiner whilst pointing to both Karrl and Zeromus, he nodded and then moved towards Zeromus. He whispered in his ear to follow him over to Garnet and Karrl. The young princess waited for Zeromus to arrive beside Karrl before she began to speak.
"Good evening Zeromus and Karrl. I understand you are both members of SeeD, it is such an honour to begin relations with your great organisation. I hope we will work together in the future."
Princess Garnet smiled brightly but underneath it was quite apparent she was only making pleasantries for the sake of her mother. General Beatrix slowly moved from Queen Brahne's side as soon as she spotted a familiar military face amongst the crowd. Celes Chere was her target and as they were both strong female authority figures it would give Beatrix the chance to talk quite frankly if she wished.
"Celes Chere it is a privilige to have you here in Alexandria Castle. I trust there were no issues?"
Standing at the small fountain in the front garden were three strangers dressed in long black robes, the Alexandrian guards didn't seem to be bothered by them which could only mean that they were perhaps part of the entertainment due for the birthday celebration. They were covered from head to toe in their black robes so it was difficult to tell if they were male or female but even now no one paid them any mind.
Celes had stopped and was mingling with a few dignitaries that had approached her. They had thought she was just a pretty face but would back off when General Beatrix would approach and speak to her. A wave of relief would wash over Celes as someone from her past would approach her and not instantly try and kill her on sight. When the General approached Celes would give a salute to her before easing herself back to a simple stance. As she did so her own weapon would clink against her side. It would be evident for one such as the general to notice that she was still armed, yet Celes would hope it would not bother her. As they where both generals, one formerly and one currently.
"General Beatrix. It is an honor to be back in Alexandria and to be at the young princesses birthday. Rather surprised that your runners could find me way out in the middle of the wilderness. Though I suppose I do leave impressions wherever it is I go. How have you been if you do not mind me asking?"
Karrl bowed in the traditional Alexandrian bow. As he had travelled back from Spira to Alexandria he had studied up as much as he could about the culture and customs of the land he was now in. Karrl knew, if he was to impress the Princess let alone the Royal Family he would need to study, and, despite what most people thought about him, Karrl was not afraid of hard work when it came to cracking the books. If he had not been so rigorous in his studies and his training he would not have reached the rank he was within SeeD.
When he bowed, a long, thin parcel could be seen on his back, with a slightly large end. As Garnet spoke he rose from his bow and listened to her. He was flattered that she would come to him, well, them, and speak personally. However, he was pretty sure she was only speaking out of formality, and to strengthen the bond between Balamb and Alexandria. Never the less, he was still flattered. When she had finished speaking he to spoke, “The honour is all ours Your Highness, and it is an honour to extend the hand of friendship between Balamb and Alexandria.”
He took a moment to gather his thoughts before he continued, “If I may speak on a personal note. I personally am honoured for such kind words on your behalf. I am a simple soldier, and my gift to you may not be as grand as some of the others…” He reached for his back and retrieved the parcel, “I hope you find my gift to you both practical and enjoyable at the same time…” He took the parcel and placed it in both of his hands, his palms open, “My sources tell me that you’re a practitioner of white magic, and my gift is from the lands of Spira, lands that I had been travelling before I was summoned here.”
Amusement; a twitch of a bemused smile had managed to warp the mask like façade Miumi had been wearing as he was realizing vastness of wealth that had been placed into this party that would only celebrate a princesses birthday and the gradual ticking of her biological clock which was slowly racing towards its end. Miumi rolled his eyes with a sense of dismay and what one might detect as disgust; the hume race were so feeble and strange but at the same time their will to survive and persistence was noteworthy and almost made them like cockroaches; no matter how hard one tried to extinguish either their life or their faith and hope they would always find a new outlet. In a sense maybe it was that Miumi envied them; being able to celebrate the end of their life so easily but maybe because Miumi had existed for hundreds of years and was just around the same age of the princess herself, but that also meant if Miumi lived to be old when he died everyone he knew and loved would be long gone. Unfortunately for Miumi, that was a sad reality that he had since awoken to since falling for a certain Burmecian Clive .
Miumi began to move towards the table that harbored the gifts reaching under the left slit of his dress undoing a petite pouch from one of the loops on his holster his hand cupping the satin pouch gently between his fingers; it was a petite gift but within it held something he wondered if the princess had ever seen. Within the small bag was a vial filled with sands from Kilika as well as a mixture of the water which floated with the sand, a variety of shells and pieces of coral and the sea flowers. There was also a variety of small stones ranging from Quartz to a small piece of jade that Miumi had acquired on his travels. The last gift though within there was a bracelet that had been carved from a large bone and designed with a clasp; it had taken Miumi quite a few tries using his gravity spells to condense normally brittle bones into a large block of bone and having carved it down. It was decorated with scales and a variety of pouched pieces from fiends that the gravity spell had fused into the surface of the bone the most colorful vibrant yellow down that had come from chocoboes
They were gifts that were low in value; but they held stories and had been made by hand which made them unique. Miumi received quite a few strange looks from the stewards and stewardesses as he would place the pouch gently down on the fore-front. He would allow his body to move again as he noticed a variety of faces among the crowd simply moving towards the foot with delicate strides; allowing his body to become like the wind as he pivoted gently among the hustling crowd whom seemed so eager to see what others had given. Once Miumi had found himself by the food he would look down at the delicate crystal cups that had been prepared and he would fill it with the pink and fruity smelling fluid nearby; he would sniff it once or twice and detected no poison and would begin to sip idly on edge of the edge of the glass getting a taste of the almost sickeningly sweet punch. An explosion of different fruits would explode upon his palette and caused his teeth to ache. He found himelf scanning the crowd for familiar faces and unfortunately would find none.
After looking around Alexandria for a short while, Noel eventually found something that he hoped would be to this princess's liking. He himself had been rather taken with the stall selling fresh flowers as this was the first time that he had actually seen any. Fake blooms had existed during his early childhood but the craft of making such things had died out a long time ago and these had been damaged over many years of existence.
Pulling his thoughts back to the present, whenever that might be, he purchased a bouquet of red roses before making his way back to the castle. He was one of the last, if not the last to enter the castle before the doors were shut for the duration of the event. Leaving the bouquet with the rest of the gifts, being careful not to damage their delicate forms, Noel sat himself down at a table. No-one seemed to object or even notice as they talked merrily amongst themselves. It was strange and somewhat annoying to see that everything he had once craved they seemed to be taking for granted. His guess that he was in a different time probably wasn't too far off and he wondered exactly how far he had travelled. They were all rather elaborately dressed too and Noel couldn't help but feel like the odd one out as he only owned the one set of clothes. Still, they stood out in their own way so he wasn't too worried. In fact either way he really wasn't that concerned.
A chinking sound silenced the crowd and Noel nearly fell from his seat when the blue woman, the queen of Alexandria apparently, gave her speech. What was that anyway?, he thought to himself as she spoke. First rat people and now...this? What was with this world anyway? Thankfully, and to his credit, Noel's face only showed a faint flicker of surprise before returning to the neutral expression of everyone else. His eyes trailed to the princess, who surprisingly enough wasn't blue like her mother. In fact, she looked nothing like her and Noel couldn't help wonder why. He was no expert on genetics but was sure that the young princess was grateful that she hadn't inheritated her mothers scary gene! In fact, the princess reminded him a little of Yeul, as far as looks went. Sixteen, that was older than the seeress had been when she...well, it was probably best not to dwell.
As the ball got underway and the princess made her way to the dancefloor, Noel couldn't help but feel a little awkward as he remained firmly planted in his seat. Attempting to drink the wine he had been given didn't help eithe. There was no such thing as alcohol where he came from and he struggled to swallow the strange liquid. Again to his credit, he was rather discreet about the matter but the feeling that he really didn't belong here wouldn't go away. He'd also never seen so many people in one room and couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed. Maybe he could sneak out for some fresh air? ______________________________________________________________ WC: 526 TC: 927

The demon followed the steward silently yet he kept his eyes darting around as they were led swiftly into the castle, he was taking in the location of every single man, woman and child that they pass. Their names hovering over them in his eyes, however as the doors to the party were opened the demon turned his head forward and closes his eyes for a moment waiting a second before opening them and entering, glancing around the party taking notice of the names he could see, his glance stops for a moment over one figure as the queen would start to speak, taking a step up behind Blue he quietly whispers into her ear.
"Celes Chere is here, there may be trouble coming."
With that and the queens speech over the demon pats the sorceress on the shoulder and moves towards Princess Garnet, his eyes darting to look at the names of the the two SeeDs stood alongside the princess. Belzera stops and stands next to General Beatrix as he sees Karrl hold a parcel in his hands before he bows to the assembled group, the group was a mix he hadn't seen outside of a battle against a world shattering foe what with two SeeDs, a rogue Gesthalian General, a princess and her knights. Yet luckily for the demon he could manage his distaste for SeeD members by focusing on the respectable Beatrix. He smiles warmly at the group as he speaks towards princess Garnet.
"I am sorry if this is rude of me, I just would like to wish Princess Garnet a happy birthday."
With that he gives the group another bow before he takes a step back from the group and moves towards the nearest drink.

Blue smiles faintly as they enter the grand hall, but unlike the demon she focus's her attention upon Queen Brahne as she greets them all, Blue couldn't help but be amazed that such a fat woman was in charge of a country here on gaia, she couldn't help but think of Queen Brahne as the Elephant woman, all she needed was a large snout. Blue looks back to the demon for a second as he tells her to expect trouble only to see him walking off towards a group where the princess stood, she sighs and shrugs her shoulders before she makes a move towards the pile of gifts that had been building up placing the gift she held onto the table gently before she then turns away and glances over the assembled party members trying to see if there were any figures she could recognise in the group.
After a moment she only noticed Celes Chere who the demon had metioned, aside from that she didn't immediately recognise anyone here. With a very faint sigh she moves towards the feast provided generously by the elephant woman while the party continues onwards, she would allow everyone else to plaster the princess with birthday wishes first.

Princess Garnet took the present from Karrl and courtseyed a little as she turned to place it on the gift table. Her cheeks flushed a bright pink as she looked at the two young SeeD members and then around the room once more before turning her attention back to SeeD.
"Thank you all very much for your kind works and gifts, I am honoured and privileged to be meeting important individuals such as yourselves."
As Princess Garnet held her hand out for one of the SeeD members to take, the large wooden doors burst open and there stood three shadowy figures in full length robes. The two figures at the sides launched themselves and Noel and Miumi each grabbing them by the hair and holding a dagger to their throats. The middle figure seemed to fly up to the centre to where Queen Brahne stood. During this Princess Garnet made a dash for the table beside her and slipped underneath it. She was lucky that none of the three had seen her move. Each of the figures shook down their robes to reveal that they were women, once of which Celes Chere would recognise. The woman holding Noel had shortish dark red hair which seemed slicked back while the one holding Miumi was one he had come face to face before. Kaiya began to press the dagger against Miumi's throat almost drawing blood.
"How dare you break into my home like this! Beatrix! Steiner! Arrest these people!"
Queen Brahne's voice roared across the room, her chest was puffed up and her face red as a beetroot. The female stood by her smirked as she trailed her painted black nail down her cheek.
"I wouldn't if I were you sweethearts otherwise I'm going to have my sisters here slit their throats. I'm only going to ask this once. Where is Princess Garnet?"
"You stay away from my daughter she's just a child, you will not get your hands on her!"
"Actually...I was hoping you would resist."
With a little cackle the young woman pointed her finger to Queen Brahne. Nothing happened for a moment or two which made some feel as though this was an empty threat. Queen Brahne relaxed slightly but as she did a stream of black lightning shot out from the woman's figure hitting Queen Brahne square in the chest. The middle aged queen slumped to the floor her head cracking off the stone floor. Princess Garnet by this time had peeked her head out from under the table cloth to watch her mother die, tears began to stream down her face as she pushed herself up from the floor. Her heels clicked against the floor as she ran up to her mother to take her in her arms.
"Mother! No mother please don't die...ahhhh!"
The witch laughed loudly as she pulled Princess Garnet up by her long brown hair, her nails dug in tightly yanking her back towards her. She wrapped an arm around Princess Garnet's waist as she sniffed her hair. The crystal necklace around Princess Garnet's neck began to shimmer.
"Like the moth to a flame. Now my dear we shall make our way to the highest point of the castle where you will do me small favour and in return I won't burn your town to the ground. Oh and so no one makes a move from in here we have a special little guest."
The head witch pulled Princess Garnet's hair harder as she yanked her even closer. Without so much as another movement the two of them vanished behind a cloud of black and red smoke and in her place stood a petite young blonde girl dressed in a SeeD uniform, Karrl would recognise her instantly as she would him.
"I'm...sorry...I had no choice."
Her words would be in vain as she screamed into the air as her body began to twist and mutate, she would begin to grow in size and wings sprout from her back. Her transformation into a black dragon was complete as she spat out various streams of flames, luckily none caught onto any of the fabric hanging from the wooden beans or the beams themselves. This birthday celebration had gotten a little out of hand.

Bemused; a soft smirk had taken refudge upon Miumi’s petite face as a fragile hand had once more lifted up gingerly pushing a strand of sable locks back as his eyes would close for a moment and he would focus on listening; his wolvish ears would twitch once or twice and adapt their cone like shape as he attempted. A few of the party goers would look at Miumi strangly as his tongue would peak out and his tail swished back and forth and he would take a couple steps forward from the table with a glass cup full of punch as he would listen to the other’s attempt at brown-nosing and attempting to woo the princess he would outwardly giggle slightly; but due to the distance between them and the chorous of footsteps that had begun as people attempted to socialize his laughter would be lost. It was only then did the sound of the heavy doors being thrust open garnish Miumi’s attention as by the time he had attempted to spin around a cloaked figure was pressing themselves close to his back; though without even looking he would allow his eyes to narrow and he would smirk slightly as the other brought a dagger to his throat he would bring the crystal glass to his throat taking another sip before he would whisper.
“ Sorry, your going to have to buy me dinner first my dear if you want to get wild
He let out a feigned moan as the other pulled his hair a little tighter. It was by then Queen Brahne had become truly outraged her voice would suddenly cut through the air like a thunder clap and he would smirk further as he noticed her fash turning a color that rivaled a red beet. It appeared this woman despite her ogre like appearance may have been somewhat well versed in tactics as she wasted no time calling for her beloved knights of Pluto and the Alexandrian Army; which Beatrix had stood at the head of while she seemed vaguely familiar to Miumi perhaps from a dream. That women whom was known as Biana; was a sickening wrench it would appear as he sheer level of planning while it was simply enacted had been well executed as they had managed to take two people hostage in a sense and easily chose a prime target; the leader of the country. He had to admire her slightly but that was for another time. It appeared the Queen; truly did only want best for her daughter and wished to protect her from harm and he watched as she pointed a finger at the other and for a moment nothing happened.
It was then he saw it the whip of black lightning that lashed out connecting with the other’s chest; even from this point Miumi could guess it was probably fatal and it would appear that was true as suddenly he saw the Queen’s figure slump forward and her head would crack against the cold stone floor and Miumi would watch with eyes widened. The princess albeit pretty and her heart was in the right place was quite stupid; that display of power had probably been to draw her out from hinding and he found himself stirring to call out to her but Kaiya’s dagger at his throat was bit problematic. When the other would disappear Miumi would begin to smile as he had secretly been invoking a spell the entire time he was calling upon the highest tier of thunder magic he knew THUNDAGA while he would bring his hand that held the glass upwards and would drop the glass while it was near his face and grab the blade and close his hands down clamping the middle of the blade meaning if the other pulled it away it would come free but Miumi wouldn’t get cut as easily either and it was then Miumi would unload the eqivilant of gigawatts into the blade in an attempt to turn her into a human barbeque; apparently Miumi was still quite made at her.
TO follow it up though Miumi would chuckle before he would point at the ground and cast another high tiered magic of BREAK he wished to see this witch in shambles.
Loci flowed with the crowds into the Grand Hall to mingle and hobnob with the wealthy and power on this most auspicious occasion. Though, a fish out of troubled waters, Loci made himself comfortable immediately. With a snap of his fingers a cocktail appeared in a subtle flash of light within his grasp, something fruity and tropical as he preferred. He bowed, nodded and made small talk with the various guests, talking politics and chocobo dressage, feigning interest in the subjects with back-handed comments that would be otherwise angrily rebuked but the social constructs prevented more than an awkward laugh and quick shuffle off. These people, Loci thought to himself, were as shallow and vapish as the specters he preferred to associate with back home, least they were easily silenced.
He slipped, through the dance floor, interrupted a few dancing partners as he jumped from one couple to the next, till across the other side to where the h’orderves. He snatched up a plate and picked an assortment of various edible delights, none of which he could eat but for the sake of appearances collected anyhow. Once his plate was filled, he danced through the crowd to a table off to a secluded corner, rudely kicked up his feet on the chair beside his and went through each h’orderves with a sniff, a furl of the lip and a toss behind him and from where he could watch Princess Garnet and the fat Queen – funny, watching the two of them together. How quaint.
The party carried on like this, as so, till something happened. Something Loci secretly hoped would happen. The party crashers, how utterly delightful. Loci applauded their arrival, his claps drowned out over the screams and chaos. What wasn’t a party without such an event transpiring? Perhaps this place wasn’t too different after all. He sat back, moved his legs from the chair to atop the table and watched, dinner and a show. Wc: 331
By now, Noel had moved closer to the door as not many people seemed to be hanging around that particular area. At least it would give him a little breathing space whilst he contemplated his next move. He watched as the princess conversed with the two members of SEED, well at least that's what someone close by had referred to them has but he had no clue as to exactly who they were and what they did. He gathered from the conversation around him that they were an organisation that seemed to hold a lot of esteem but he knew little beyond that. He had heard of such things existing a long time ago, back when there were people roaming the world in their thousands, or was it millions?
It was at this point that he was rather rudely disturbed by the door being thrown open and he just say managed to avoid being crushed behind it. He yelped in surprise as the three hooded figures entered and one of them swiftly and roughly grabbed him by his hair and placed a knife to his throat! Powerless, he could only watch as the chaos ensued around him. Why did they want princess Garnet so much? The queen, surely she wasn't, they couldn't?
Sadly, he was proved wrong as the princess ran back into view and cried beside her mothers lifeless body. The leader of the cloaked women then grabbed the girl by the hair and dragged her off. He couldn't hear exactly what was being said, but his blood began to boil. Someone was going to have to do something, it was just unfortunate that he wasn't in the position to do say. Noel would need to think quickly in order to remedy that little setback and his mind raced as he considered possible scenarios. He felt sickened by the fact that in this world one one could be inclined to end a human life with little more thought than that given to a monster. Didn't they realise that human life was precious or had he come to a place were even that was taken for granted? To end a life on a whim in such a way, was too horrifying to contemplate. A lot of planning had obviously gone into this though as the groups actions were perfectly co-ordinated.
As he continued to think, it seemed that the other who had been grabbed was also thinking of a way out of their predicament. Like him though, she, or were they a he? The voice didn't sound particularly feminine, but then again... anyway, he/she was doing a pretty good job at staying calm in the face of peril. Noel had learned long ago that doing so was the difference between life and death.
During this time, Noel barely noticed the other girl enter, although he did see the princess dragged off to goodness knows where. His heart went out to her, but that was the least of his worried as his attention was rather forcefully redirected to the fourth woman to enter. He watched in horror as he form twisted and mutated into some kind of monster and he knew that he had to think even faster now. If only he could reach his blades, but then again the dagger was pressed so close to his throat that any kind of move would leave him in the same state as the poor queen. There had to be something he could do though.
Since I had arrived at Alexandria, I did what was expected of me and milled around speaking with the various representatives of Gaia. Obviously at such a formal gathering one couldn't expect to go thirsty, so I was taking the opportunity to liberate a glass of champagne whenever I could spot a waitress. It was all very nerve wrecking, as this was my first time being to a function like this, but I felt I composed myself well. I had just finished talking to a group of people, and opted to go stand out on the balcony. As I passed, I noticed another person in SeeD uniform. I didn't really recognise him, which wasn't surprising. The Garden was a big place, it's hard at the best of times to know everyone. Staring at the stars for a few moments, I turned around and headed back into the hall.
Walking back into the main hall, I was just about to grab another drink when Princess Garnet came over. Deciding to forego my drink in favour of representing SeeD, I graciously took her hand and bowed low thanking her for kindly inviting me here. The other SeeD member had come over as well. As Princess Garnet spoke, I learnt that this man was called Karrl. I had heard some gossip around the Garden about him. It was then that the doors suddenly burst open and a group of women entered the hall. It was obvious given the way the troops and Queen Brahne reacted that these were unwelcome guests.
I hadn't noticed that Princess Garnet had been slowly moving away from everyone. If I had I would've been able to help pull her to safety as a woman had materialised from nowhere and grabbed her with a knife to her throat. I didn't have my weapons with me. Protocol dictates that on formal events you must leave your weapons at the armory. Just my luck. I would have to keep an eye on the situation, and when the opportunity presented itself, slip away and retrieve my bow.
Karrl was about to speak when the doors burst open. Karrl’s initial reaction was to grab for his blades, which unlike his counterpart, he kept on him. He knew it was protocol for them to leave their weapons in the armoury, but he would not do it. Karrl could not see into the future, he had many skills to his name, but that was not one of them, however, a big formal function, with the royal family and many nobles, it was begging for someone to try something. He had not been certain about it, but to be prepared is to stay alive.
Unfortunately, before he could do anything two of the guests were taken hostage, and he knew that, he could not try anything unless he knew he could pull it off without Karrl prided himself upon his speed, but, could he be that fast, even with his abilities he was doubtful. So, in light of the fact he might not be quick enough to get to job done before anyone got hurt he lowered his hands and just watched until everything played out or, Karrl hoped, he saw an opportunity to take advantage of a situation, which would not get anyone killed.
However, the next things to happen, it took Karrl by surprised and overwhelmed his senses. First of all the queen, she was killed, Karrl grew angry at the witch for killing her, but he was also angry at himself for not trying anything. However, the next thing that happened was the thing that totally overwhelmed him in anger, hatred and sorrow. His head was swimming so much he did not hear Erinna’s words, all he could do was fall to one knee. As he knelt down he clutched his head, the swimming and the emotions growing stronger and stronger, with only one word screaming his head, attack.
All of a sudden his head threw backwards and his eyes opened, however, his eyes had turned from hazel to red and as he screamed it became a howl. Once that was over he got up, his eyes burning with rage. He took off his SeeD uniform’s top and stood there with his upper half covered in just a tank-top. He started to growl louder and louder, and as he did his muscles, they seemed to grow, well, become more defined. He then let out the following words, his voice harsh an animal like “I shall tear you apart for your treason Erinna!” With that he drew his blades and advanced.
The demon, now with a drink in hand turned to see the results of the last few moments drama, seeing the corpse of the Queen on the floor right before he saw the Queen vanish in a puff of smoke, sighing he passes the glass upto Scion before he opens up his lips and speaks up a phrase he had heard spoken once before.
"The Queen is dead, long live the queen"
With that he swipes his right arm to the side flicking the cloak over his shoulder revealing underneath the cloak the morbid bone hilt of Eden while the rest of the blade was sheathed in a black sheath strapped to his waist. His eyes dart to across the three woman remaining in the room, his eyes revealing their names to him as he steps forward just in time to see Miumi attempt to break free while the woman Erinna muttered something before transforming into a dragon. Letting out a whistle of impression he casts a gazed over to Blue.
"I'm sure you can handle this little thing"
Before he gives her a short wave before he dashes towards the exit, he knew that generally if someone leaves behind some cronies to deal with people, they have a plan that they don't want messing up. Belzera was going to make sure this plan was messed up, whatever it was.

Blue said with a faint smile crossing her face as she presses her left fist into her right fist, cracking the knuckles before smirking as the event started to spiral downwards into what was going to be a chaotic battle. The Elephant queen was dead, the princess was whisked away, two of the guests were grabbed and a SeeD turned into a dragon, an ability she never knew they had, wouldn't make a difference to ger though once she got her hands on them. Although fighting a dragon barehanded was an attractive idea, smirking she takes a step towards the dragon as the others took their own actions, stretching out her arms above her head, linking her fingers together as she stretches smiling faintly.
"Dibs on the Dr-"
She started to shout out before one of the two SeeD screams and starts to make his way towards the dragongirl, with a sigh Blue lets her arms drop down to her sides and instead presses her hands to her chest.
"Fine"
She mutters under her breath, dissappointed slightly she decides on a different course as she closes her eyes and tries to focus on the magic deep inside of her.

Celes had been enjoying the company of the other General when both the demon Belzera and the sorceress Blue approached the pair and spoke up. Anxious feelings would shoot through her as she hoped Belzera would not openly attack her inside such a place. Those thoughts would vanish when she saw Biana enter the ball and have everything slow down as she watched her effortlessly murder the queen and make off with the princess.
"Biana..."
Celes would whisper out the name of the Coven leader before snapping back to reality. The dragon and two people being held by lower ranking Coven members if she had to guess. :: And I liked this dress... Cannot be helped I guess. :: Reaching down Celes would grab a hidden dagger by her boot and would cut the back of the dress and stepping out of the now pile of fabric on the ground.
Exposing the fact she had on her weapon and full armor she would hear a quick back and forth before seeing Karrl charge at the dragon. Inside she wanted to fight the beast but knowing full well that there where others that could take care of it there she would chase after Belzera. Knowing full well that this simple action could be suicide as they had an unsettled score. Upon nearing him she would speak up.
"General Belzera... About the business with the Avatar of Earth and all that... Can we put aside any grudges til this little situation is cleared?"

Soon only several of you were left in the main hall. Kaiya who had Miumi held in an almost vice like grip jumped backwards as he sent jolts of thunder up through the blade. Her long green hair wrapped around her shoulders as she threw the dagger to the ground, her eyes focusing on him...glaring even. Meanwhile Jada who still had hold of Noel pulled him back further and began to sniff his hair. With an erotic groan she rubbed her nose against his cheek before sliding her tongue across the same cheek. Jada then diverted her attention towards Karrl and Erinna. Karrl had seemingly made his choice which to Jada was quite amusing as she cackled before speaking to him.
"Awww that SeeD really is a moron...poor girl and she loved him so much. She was correct by the way, she never had a choice in the matter. If you want to kill an innocent woman who adores you then go for it kid."
Her laugh echoed throughout the hall but she was soon stopped as Kaiya whistled for her attention, both women then looked over to Celes. Their faces dropped slightly into a grimace
"She's here."
"I see. Well the boss didn't give an specific instructions not to kill her, then again why don't we have some fun with this lot?"
Both women looked towards Loci and then smirked to each other as Jada released Noel from her grip pushing him forwards. Jada and Kaiya moved slowly and elegantly together until they met up near Erinna who by now had begun to roar. Flames still erupted from her mouth which this time were produced at such a violent rate that they weakened the beams. The wood buckled under the pressure which caused some of the ceiling to give way. As you all would have to dart out of danger the firey beams and stone would produce a flaming wall cutting the group of you of from each other. Four one side and four on the other. For some of you your opponents were the two witches and Erinna, four against three one of which was a dragon. You could so totally win this...or at least try! The rest of you cut off from the immediate danger were faced with the only exit, a stone staircase which none of you knew where it would lead. The only thing you did know was that it led up and possibly to Princess Garnet. The battlefield was set. Would you just sit down and die? Or would you make a mark for yourselves

:: Wake up from your little la la land Celes. You cannot keep walking the line between those who just crashed the party and helping those in need. Remember what you went through and what you have put others through in the name of this Coven... :: Internally she was yelling at herself as the fire erupted behind her and she would make it barely into the staircase. Looking across the group she recognized the Sorceress Blue, but the two men in their party she did not.
Dusting herself off she grabbed Lightbringer off her hip and unsheathed the blade. As she did so she walked past the rest of the group and onto the stairs proper. ::Celes. It is now time. Choose which side you are going to be on. As you can no longer follow the Coven from within and escape whatever justice is about to be meeted upon their ranks. They would find you and kill you for this attack despite you taking no part in it... :: Without looking back she would speak up her internal debate finished.
"Lets get moving... Biana is powerful and we will all need to work together to even stand a chance against her. That chance is even slimmer should we not make it or if any should fall in combat along the way. So stay focused..."
Her words would come out with the edge of a general. That edge that can only come from someone who has seen too much battle, and death in their life. Closing her eyes she internally cleansed her mind of what could be and instead focused on what was to come. She was going to make it to Biana and rescue the Princess. As she took the first steps up the stairs she would speak once again.
"I am going now. Those who do not wish to fight stay here."
Moving into the maze Celes would begin to slowly make her way into the maze. Making subtle marks that anyone following her could see with a piece of charcoal she had. Walking through the maze she made two rights and a left following the path she would stop at the next intersection and see who all would catch up to her.

A loud roar would break the slience and you all knew it came from the dragon. None of you knew what would lie in wait up the stairs and beyond but could you really let evil overthrow Alexandria and possibly kill the princess? Rumours were rife about what power lay within Princess Garnet and what protected the Alexandria Castle.
As you made your way up to the top of the stairs you would all come face to face with a stone maze. This couldn't have been something that the royals put here?! This must be Biana's doing to slow you all down and unfortunately it would work. Even if you managed to do this quite quickly it still held you up from reaching the rooftop. The stone walls were that high up they connected to the ceiling, there was no way to see the maz from above it was down to your puzzle solving skills.
[Each of you will need to post a section of the maze, you can do this in more than one post. I will give you a week at the most to finish the maze before moving on. If you complete it before a week is up I will move on as well.]
