A small and gentle breeze blew past, carrying various scents, some sweet, and some bitter. The most distinct scent of them all was machinery and sweat, lofting from the giant military training Garden. The sun shone down brightly, shimmering as it touched his menacing sky blue armor. The giant monstrosity stood firm and tall, towering over the average person, in front of the entrance to the Galbadia Garden. What was Exdeath doing inside ‘enemy’ territory exactly? Good question. After the recent slaughter he partook in at the now desolated city of Doma, he and the insane Court Mage, Kefka, raided the city archives. They both were looking for something similar; however, during this search Exdeath discovered something of personal interest to him on an old document. This document pertained to information of a certain summon known as Cerberus.
The idea of a summon had never come to Exdeath’s mind before; nevertheless, the idea was intriguing. A being that would follow his will and aid him whenever he needed it. Fascinating. All the possibilities filled his mind when he first read about this beast and they still floated around, encouraging him forward. The fact that the location the document mentioned was Galbadia did not deter Exdeath at all. Though there might be a few challenges along the way, he did not care; he would handle them when they arose. In his mind, no one stood a chance in Hell against him. His hands and workings had already been the source of destruction for many villages and towns. No one had the ability to intervene and save the souls of people when he was the one killing them. All crumbled beneath his might and power, with Cerberus on his side, he would just be that much more devastating.
Consequently, Exdeath proceeded forward, but before he could even enter the gates, a commanding, “Halt!”, stopped him. The voice did not intimidate him, nor did the source of it, which was an armored man carry a simple steel sword. What did vex him, though, was the fact that someone had the courage to command him in such a tone. Nonetheless, as Exdeath slowly turned his head to face the man, the man’s bravery seemed to shatter and the man shook slightly with fear. In a more broken and timid tone, the man asked, ”What is your business here?”
With a low, dark chuckle, Exdeath responded truthfully, ”To kill every last being on this forsaken and pitiful world.” An annoyed, but sadistic grin curled on his face as he stared at the soldier. The man was shaking so violently now that it sickened Exdeath. This man could have been a brother, a husband, a father; now, none of that matter, he was a dead man. In a tone of offering, he said, ”You seem to be afraid. Here, I shall relieve you of that fear.” Exdeath drew his fearsome, golden blade. It appeared to absorb all the sun’s light and shine it back at the man. The man screamed out in fear as he was blinded. Taking a few, large steps forward, it was easy for Exdeath to close the distance between himself and the man. Raising his massive blade, he brought it down on the man’s head, cleaving it right open. Brain matter and blood spurted everywhere. Snorting, Exdeath knelt and looked down at the corpse and said, ”Fool, there is no hope for anyone on this doomed planet. Everyone shall break and die beneath my overwhelming power and be consumed by the Void.”
Exdeath brushed and cleaned his blade on the fallen soldier’s clothes; however, the notion was pointless as a small group of guards came running around a corner of the Garden. It would seem his presence was brought to their attention by the dead man’s shouting. Exdeath let out a great big sigh as he was getting extremely irritated. He anger boiled inside of him as the soldiers foolishly continued their bash at him. ”Pathetic.” was all Exdeath said as he lifted his palm. From it, a ball of dark magic expanded and shot forth at the group or five men. The ball impacted two of the men and crushed them instantly. The other three more cautiously ran forward, thus Exdeath ran to meet them halfway. He performed a wide slash at the group, decapitating one of them while the others nimbly dodge. Though they were fast, and he was not, he had better stamina and unmatched strength. He focused on one of the soldiers and as the man stepped down to attack, Exdeath impaled him with his blade. Without even dislodged his blade from the man’s chest, Exdeath was able to throw the man at the remaining soldier, distracting him long enough for fire to blaze forth from Exdeath’s palm, consuming both soldiers.
Exdeath loved using magic because it felt like pure ecstasy to him. His magical abilities were unchallenged by most as his numerous amounts of souls provided him with increased magical aptitude. Pure evil and malice that is what he was and what he was proud to be. He was a destructive machine bread to spread chaos and death, and that is what he would do.
Before turning away, Exdeath cleaned his blade on one of the soldier’s clothes and then continued into the Garden. Hopefully, he would have some time before more soldiers were attracted by the gruesome scene. He would have been more than happy to continue slaying soldiers until the sun went down; however, at the moment, he just wanted to gain what he came here for: Cerberus.
Sheathing his blade, he gazed around at all the machinery of the Garden. So far, he had not been disturbed by any more soldiers. He knew it was only a matter of time, though. He could be easily spotted because of his sheer size. Therefore, he would have to make this personal quest fast because he was merely interested in getting what he came for, nothing more. He could bring complete death and destruction some other day, but not today.
After killing the garden's soldiers, an alarm began to sound, the electricity cut for a moment and then reestablished itself with a red flashing light. A tannoy announcement beamed over the entire garden. " Pupils return to your rooms immedietly...soldiers will be dispatched to deal with the threat and cleanse the garden. For now classes will be cancelled. Please do not attempt to combat this creature. Seed will be patrolling the hallways, any pupil caught outside of their dormatory will recieve severe punishment as handed out by the Galbadian garden disiplinary group....". Soldiers appeared at balconies surrounding the centre of the garden where you stood.
The sounds of cocking assault rifles and checking of ammo. " Do not move...we have you surrounded.....you will be brought to our cells for imprisonment until the proper authorities arrive..". Suddenly...everything went quiet. Unnautrally quiet. There wasn't even a breeze. It seemed...that somehow time itself had stopped. Thats until you felt the breath on the back of your neck. You would turn and see before you a huge three headed dog, its skin like scales of armour. Its eyes like huge burning coals.
He stood there, his large form scanning the garden for what he sought, when his search was interrupted by a loud and booming alarm that sounded throughout the entire garden, announcing his presence to everyone. Everything went dark for a moment or two as the normal lights were replaced by an emergency, red flashing set. He sighed deeply because what he had predicted happened. His expedition to this horrid land would be temporarily impeded, as he would try to be apprehended for his murders. Of course, this situation was his fault because he had so many chances to arrive and do research quietly, yet he chose to cause an uproar. With a simple, inner shrug, being slightly setback would not make a difference. He was prepared to fight through and kill dozen to get what he wanted.
A dark, thin smile curled the corner of his lips as he listened to the announcement. It was a shame students were sent to their dormitory, it might have been fun to kill a few innocents. Regardless, he was sure he would have at least some entertainment as dozens of soldiers lined up around the garden, surrounding him. They all had guns, and they were preparing them, which generated a rather obnoxious buzz that rang all around. The sound of ammo being loaded and guns being cocked was a particularly displeasing sound. That was why he preferred a sword or some melee weapon because they did not create such a racket.
A single soldier called out to him saying that he would be imprisoned and held in a lonesome cell while the appropriate authorities arrived to deal out his punishment. This whole situation he found amusing. In the beginning, he did not come for a fight, only for a single purpose. Now that he was surrounded, he was itching to shed some more blood. If these simple soldiers thought they could hinder his search by physical force, they were dead wrong, and soon to be dead.
In one swift motion, he pulled out his shining, gold blade. He looked around them and was about to speak; however, before he could fill the garden with his menacing voice, everything became eerily silent. Looking around, everything was unmoving and frozen, but him. The only noise was the sound of his large, sky blue armor creaking. He was uncertain of what was going on, yet he could not seem to shake an ominous feeling, as if there was something supernatural in his presence.
Just then, he felt a ragged, hot gust of air against his back. The giant slowly turned around, and he saw the source that had seemingly stopped time. Before him stood massive, three-headed dog. It was, without a doubt, five times his size, maybe more. Its underbelly was a blazing, crimson red and its back was black. Its skin seemed like armored scales able to fend off even the toughest weapons. All three heads had radiating red eyes that reminded him of some hellish flame. A name rang out in his head, Cerberus. As Exdeath gazed up at this colossal beast, he had to admit, he was slightly intimidated, though the feeling was soon to pass.
It spoke in a dark tone as it addressed him. ".....Speak your desire......".
A beaming, malicious grin took a smug position upon Exdeath’s hidden face. Finally, he found what he came for. His words rang out across the frozen garden as his tone was sinister and deep, ”My desire… is to bring about total apocalypse upon this world and destroy every being on it. That is my black heart’s desire. I have come to this land to claim you and use your power as my own to achieve this goal.”
His response was truthful, but it sounded conceited, yet that was normal for Exdeath. He stood tall and firm as he stared right back at the creature staring at him. He was unwavering in his stance and he would not leave until he acquired Cerberus. With the aid of Cerberus, he would devastate countless more lives than he already had. Villages would be torn about by the giant beast under his command. Lives would be ravaged by the dark deeds he would perform with its assistance. Ultimately, everything would crumble beneath their combined might and Exdeath would contently look upon the world as it turned to cinder and ash. In the end, this vision would become a reality, he was certain.
" At least you are honest creature....however in cases such as this it is sometimes better to be deceptive....". It walked towards you, all three heades breathing out a heated breath onto your face. Its eyes glowing, staring into your own past the helm that hid your face. "...Regardless of your intentions you must be tested properly...the goals of your own mind do not matter to me.....all that matters...". It drew backwards and roared towards the roof. " That you are strong enough to be worthy!".
Boss Battle: Ex Death VS Ceberus
Description: The three headed hound of hell said to guard the gates of the underworld. Cerberus doesn't much seem to mind the intentions of its masters, or what they want to do with its power. All it seems bothered about is having a master worthy of its power. Cerberus is a powerful mid level summoning. And will not be easy to defeat. Special Attack: Counter Rockets: This attack casts triple on the summoner. Meaning when they cast a single magic spell. It counts as three of the same spell. Information: To defeat Cerberus you must write a total of 3000 words, feel free to control Cerberus, plus anything in the enviroment.
His ability to hold his composure was astounding, even as the dissatisfying, hot, and sultry breath from all three heads hit his face. The gust of unbearably hot air entered the small slits in his helm, causing the temperature in his suit to rise by several degrees. Not only was it warm, it was also foul and unpleasant to smell. He supposed something had been sitting, rotting in his maw for some time now. It was surprising and strange, however, even this warm, repulsive breath could not heat his cold complexion or melt his stern attitude. Following the displeasing blast of sickly air, the dog took several steps forward and now the canine’s supernatural, burning red eyes stared directly into his dark, sky blue helm, right into Exdeath’s own eyes as if they were examining his very soul. What the dog may have discovered was not just one soul, but thousands of evil and malignant souls that were all bent to one purpose. This combined number of souls was frightening and graced Exdeath with more power than an ordinary human possessed. His heinous, black culmination of souls provided him with a boosted strength and fortitude, as well as fearlessness. Consequently, Exdeath was able to stand, anchored and unmoving, in front of the demonic hound – while others may have been overcome by its sheer terror - with nothing more than a persistent and darkly placid look in his deep brown eyes that reminded one of an ancient tree.
Interestingly enough, if an individual’s first thoughts upon the sight of Exdeath’s unarmored figure were that he possessed physical characteristics of a tree and there after a more in-depth assumption he was in fact slightly related to trees, they would not be far of course or inaccurate. Not only would his outlandish brown eyes remind a person of an oaken tree, but his other physical attributes would, as well. If one had the opportunity to touch his skin, they would be greeted by a rather thick and rough texture. Outwardly, his general figure retained a bulky and course feature that could taken a large trunk. His ruffled chestnut-colored hair was wild and free like deep-seated roots. Overall, deeming Exdeath a tree based on all his unique physical traits would prove correct to those that cared, though many had the chance to speculate as much. Despite his tree origins, he evidently does not suffer the same weakness as a tree; mainly he does not burn as easily, though he does burn as any natural human being would.
The hound concluded his short monologue saying that Exdeath was honest; however, he said there are circumstances were honesty was appropriate, in this case, it was not. All the same, Exdeath was not afraid to reveal his true intentions to anyone because he had nothing to fear. He was nigh unstoppable, thanks to the numerous amounts of souls he housed within his single entity. He was certainly a fearsome and overwhelming foe in the face of many. Most that had the courage, or pure, unfortunate lack of luck, to clash with blades or sorcery against this monster quickly crumbled beneath his staggering strength and magical force. Since the beginning, his existence had been paved with the dead and defeated. Countless corpses lay in his wake wherever he went. A very recent display of his natural affinity for death and murderous nature would be today because even if he merely came to conquer Cerberus, he killed five people in the process.
The hellhound continued addressing him, telling him that he did not care for Exdeath’s intentions; he simply needed to know whether Exdeath was worthy enough to take command of him or not. The hound proceeded to let forth a bone-chilling howl as it prepared to attack him, all three heads were snarling and snapped viciously. Stained and yellowed teeth revealed themselves as the great maws of the three heads opened wide and closed on their own accord. The several rows of teeth certainly did look threateningly sharp and at that moment, Exdeath somewhat amusingly thought to himself that he would not be caught in between those diamond-hard, dagger-like teeth that were nearly the size of him individually, if he had the choice.
Spinning his relatively large, golden blade in a nonchalant manner in his right hand, a ruthless, cold smile beamed and radiated on his hidden face. Exdeath always relished a decent challenge. Nowadays, the quality of knights and warriors were miserably falling below a level of worth; meaning fighters were now feeble and pathetic, lacking strength and power to even stand a chance. This annoyed Exdeath because he cherished a good challenge, though none could provide him with one. There were only a select few that handle themselves well against Exdeath and provided him with some challenge; however, this list consisted of only a handful of individuals. Even these individuals barely retained themselves as they fought this monster. One of these beings was Cyan of Doma, though in the end, Exdeath overwhelmed him, and the coward retreated into the safety of his castle. This act of cowardice was disgraceful and it irritated Exdeath because he was not able to finish off the nuisance. The only other potential challenge that Exdeath could arrange from such a poor selection of warriors was fighting multiple fighters at once. Nonetheless, even this seemed too easy.
Before the battle commenced, Exdeath took the momentary liberty to scan around him, inspecting the arena he was forced to fight in. They were in the Galbadia’s Garden, but more specifically the Garden Lobby. Looking around, there was not much he could manipulate to benefit him. Coincidently, he and the large dog were position directly in the centre of an elevated, circular island that branched off into different parts of the Garden. Furthermore, the Lobby curiously formed a perfect circle and the paths that branched off were situated so they would be pointing in all of the cardinal directions. In general, this was a poor location because it did not allow Exdeath much leeway or protective cover, if necessary. Nevertheless, he would have to adapt to it like all other situations and ultimately, reign victorious over his opponent.
A rumbling growl brought him back to the moment. As his eyes snapped back into focus, the massive dog lunged at him, its middle head attempting to bite Exdeath’s entirety in one large chomp. Exdeath would not be consumed before he even got the chance to fight, though. Thus, as quickly as he was able, he dodged the huge, crunching jaws as they slammed shut on empty air. Exdeath had jumped underneath the beast and was now faced with the red belly of the beast. He knew he had few options to fight this beast with. He knew that even while his magic was exceedingly powerful, unfortunately it would have little effect on this beast. It was too bad he did not invest his time in mastering the frosty art of ice and blizzards, because in this situation, they would have been more effective that simply fire. Nevertheless, hopefully his magic would do something to aid him. Most of the fight, he would just have to rely on his physical combative abilities to pick up the slack for his partial lack off magical assistance during this fight.
Acting quickly to damage the great beast, Exdeath made a swift slash with his blade at the underbelly of the beast. A horrid screeching sound was generated as the blade failed to leave more than a scratch on the beast’s underside. This was certainly aggravating, the beast’s skin looked like steel armor and now proved to actually be like steel scales. Prior to this contact, Exdeath was unsure whether these scales were merely present to provide an extra degree of defense or if they were just an intimidation factor, now he knew the answer was both.
As speedily as possible, - for the giant, metal monster – he stepped out from underneath the beast. On his way out, he slashed at the dog’s left, hind leg, hoping it had some effect. Thankfully, it did. The three-headed dog gave a small yelp, but was swift to counter as it made a quick turn-around. It lifted a giant paw, and took a potential devastating swipe at the giant. It was a glancing blow because Exdeath was able to react in time, yet Exdeath could feel the tremendous power behind the swing. Recovering its paw quickly, the hound once again brought it down up the metal monster, successfully capture him beneath its mountainous weight this time. As Exdeath struggled, he was slowly being crushed to death and suffocated, all three heads leaned forward to terrifyingly glare at him with disapproving eyes. Drool slithered from the middle mouth and splash right next to Exdeath, coating him in it. Disgusted, Exdeath freed his arm that held his blade and stabbed viciously at the hellhound’s paw. Success. The black dog howled in agony as the blade sunk deep into its paw. This caused the beast to retract its paw defensively. Still on the ground, Exdeath shot flames at the dog’s middle head. Though it would not have a great effect, it still had some because it gave Exdeath time to roll away and get up.
As he rolled away, his armor groaned and creaked until he was standing tall once again. His eyes burned with determination, his spirit would not break, and he would keep fighting until he had won total control over Cerberus. This instant certainly caused reluctant flashbacks to his battle with the Doma knight, Cyan. Exdeath’s conviction now was much like Cyan’s steadfast attitude then; however, they both were persistent for different reasons. Whereas Cyan fought with intense perseverance for the ones he loved and the kingdom, he took pride in, Exdeath fought for a means to bring more death and destruction. At any rate, he realized they both fought with a die-hard, resolute nature and a certain single-mindedness. That nauseating thought that he and Cyan were similar in a way quickly left his mind because he realized that he had bested Cyan in the sense that he was still alive while Cyan was lying dead somewhere in the forsaken and rotten city of the dead, also known as Doma. Exdeath proved superior by the mere truth that he was still alive and he would remain so until his apocalyptic dream became a reality.
Thus, there he stood, an unmovable object standing lonesome against a fiendish tidal wave of hellish power. He stood boldly in a prepared fighting stance, his right foot back and his left foot forward as their heels lined up. His blade was down at a diagonal angle to the ground behind him. His left hand lay loosely against his side, ready to move in an instant and conjure a spell. In this stance, his demeanor silently screamed he was serious and he was not going to lose. Nonetheless, his fearsome disposition that would have frightened any normal being into submission did not faze the enormous hound. As it continued forth towards him, it said in a deep, demonic-like voice, ”You are quite formidable… Yet you still have much to prove, human!” This comment made Exdeath chuckle wickedly. As Cerberus’ left head lashed out to attack, Exdeath counterattacked it, fending it off with inhuman power. In a wicked and nefarious tone, Exdeath said ferociously, ”If you compare me to such a meager race, like humans, you are deadly mistaken. For, I am truly no human, I am the nightmare mere humans fear. I am everlasting and shall destroy all. I am evil incarnated and nothing can stand before my destructive capability and devastating power!” After his loud and passionate rant, Exdeath lifted his left palm and aimed it at the open mouth of Cerberus’s right head. A dark spark began to emerge from his palm. Eventually that spark turned into volatile lightning bolts that gradually formed a dark sphere. Launching the dark ball of Gravity into the open jaws of the beast, it entered its mouth and the dog growled with pain as it took effect. The moment of rest did not last long as the dog regained harmony with all three heads, though the right head still showed signs of anguish.
Cerberus’s flaming red eyes burned with fury now as it began biting at him with all three heads, attempting to overpower him. For the first little while, it worked for the most part, as the two demonic creatures danced around the Garden Lobby, exchanging blows here and there. At one point, Exdeath stumbled into a frozen soldier; however, he soon realized he could use the soldiers to his advantage as he threw them in the hound’s way. Delightedly, the idea worked as the dog began to get annoyed with trying to not hit the soldiers. In the end, pieces of frozen soldiers scattered all over the place, though they did not bleed because like everything else in this scenario, their blood was unmoving, as well.
Distracted by the entertaining sight of hacked soldiers, Exdeath failed to notice a large paw begin to slash at him. It was bizarre that he could have missed such a large, moving object while everything else remained still. However, in his defense, the scene was a humorous one because the soldiers that previously threatened to imprison him were now just chunky bits strewn across the Lobby. Though not all of the soldiers were affected by this demolishing path of the large dog, a good majority of them were.
Rudely and in a rough manner, Exdeath was brought back to the reality that he was still in the midst of a fight, a life or death one at that. This fight would either make or break him, so he needed to focus. However, due to his frustrating lack of concentration just now, Exdeath ended up receiving a serious cut to his side. Stumbling back a few steps, he took a moment to recover, though from the size of the gash, he would need more than a moment. A copious amount of blood began to spill forth from his side. The wound was deep and it would certainly cause him excruciating pain whenever he moved and even when he did not move; nevertheless, he had to overcome the injury and finish this fight. A low, rumbling chuckle rolled out of the dog’s throat. However, Exdeath had a surprise in mind, one the hound would not expect from anyone.
Taking a labored breath in, Exdeath pointed his gloved fingers at the still bleeding wound. What he was about to do would only hurt more, but it was the only way he could keep fighting without absolutely bleeding to death. As he focused hard, a pool of nearly limitless mana pooled inside his body. When he was ready, a small trail of fire appeared from his fingers and the flames trailed all the way to his injury. The smell of burning flesh filled the air, so did the sound of a deep grunt of pain as Exdeath slowly began to seal his bleeding wound by burning it shut. He could not have his precious lifeblood drain from him could he? Subsequently, he just had to deal with the insufferable pain the flames caused him and the fact that the agony might consume him. Though it was a fair exchange: pain in exchange for life.
After performing such a daring and torturous procedure, Exdeath let a deep breath of air exit his lungs. He partially bowed forward, his left hand braced his side as his breaths went from shallow to deeper ones as he began to regain himself. Cerberus, it seemed, would not give him rest, however, justly so because if Exdeath was paying attention, he would not have found himself on the receiving end of such a grievous attack in the first place.
The hound appeared to be getting impatient, all three heads began to work simultaneously as they opened their massive jaws in unison. Forming inside each mouth was a great ball of infernal fire. Regarding this, Exdeath assumed this was the infamous special attack of Cerberus’s where all three heads fired the same magic spell, dealing thrice the damage – his assumptions were correct. When they were all ready, all three hurled the huge spheres of blazing fire at the metal monster. The time had come. This would be Exdeath’s chance to either stand there and get pummeled by the three flaming attacks and die. Or, he could act quickly while the hound was recovering from such a self-diminishing attack, thinking their strikes were a victorious hit. Naturally, he went with the second. Bounding back, out of the way of the deathly fireballs, just at the last moment to make the dog’s think he was dead, he narrowly dodged the flames. They landed so close, that he could feel their extreme heat licking at him. The impact of the fireballs hitting the Lobby caused some miscellaneous debris to fly around him and cause enough of a distraction for him to make his final stand.
This was it. He was not going to lie down and die now when the world was at a ripe stage for destruction. So many lives now populated it and all of those lives needed to be taken, whether by his own hand or his command over Cerberus. Either way, people needed to die. In the end, he would, as well. He did not fear his own death, he simply feared his passing might come too soon, though he would do everything in his limitless power to keep him going until his ultimate goal was accomplished. This situation was a mere test of his power and to see if he had what it took to conquer the world.
Emerging forth from the debris, Exdeath bull rushed towards Cerberus. As he got a little closer, he caused the earth beneath Cerberus to quake, attempting to throw him off balance even it was just for a moment. And he was successful. Now that the great beast was distracted, Exdeath slid underneath the creature like he did at the beginning of the fight. This time he knew what he was going for, though. As he exited the underbelly of the beast, Exdeath made a wide sweeping slash at both hind legs, effectively crippling Cerberus for a moment. The hell-sent canine howled out in a mixture of anger and pain. The attack at the dog’s legs caused him to fall back a bit, which created an unconventional form of stairs for him to climb up onto the dog’s back. He took long strides atop the shaking beast, balancing was difficult because the beast shook to try to dislodge Exdeath from its back. Exdeath was persistent, however, and he reached the dog’s neck. From there, he launched his final and hopefully, incapacitating assault.
First, he directed his left hand at the guardian dog’s left head, firing another Gravity spell. He did the same as he shot another at the right head, he put as much power as he possibly could into it. Finally, he took his golden blade and lifting it into the air, dark magic still crackling around his gauntlets. The final climax of their fight had arrived as Exdeath’s golden blade soared through the air towards the soft spot in the middle head’s neck. A dark, triumphant grin shone on his face as he could see victory in hand. Now, the world shall truly burn…
