Event: War event II, Midnight Arrow Details:Galbadia have forced Shinra back to Midgar. Now the Galbadian forces are camped in the wastelands outside of Midgar. It is the night before the war, Galbadians are partying and preparing for their next victory. Moods are high. But unbenost to them...the Midgar forces have already left Midgar, and are moving to attack them from both sides. An elite force coming up from behind, and a main force sneaking up on the partying camp from the front. It'll be a night of absolute slaughter.
Midgar forces begin by sneaking up to the Galbadian camp. You are either with Sephiroths elite force sneaking up on the back. Or with Zack's frontal assualt group.
But the event begins...with a party. Information Same rules as the previous war event, if you havn't already picked sides then you'll have to pick one to continue. The event will be a high reward event and will decide the plot direction for the future.
.....In the shadows....a secret mission begins....
The Turks Whilst the war begins, Shinra has sent its black operations group the Turks into Galbadia to retrieve the stolen Jenova sample. This is their primary directive...however...their secondary objective is to sabotage the Galbadian weapons of mass destruction whilst in the base.
Blah blah blah. So after we cleaned up rich kids mess we moved onto something a little more high tech. That mainly being helping those iditos at lab ept load the buckets full of Jenova guts onto a cart. Hey at least it had wheels. But getting more serious. Immediatly after we were called into a top secret meeting. Usually that inovled me and Rude sitting in a couple of poker chairs whilst Tseng reads the mission and Elena drools over him.
No different this time. Couldn't catch a break. So about 2 hours and one bottle of vodka later we were loaded up into a van. Taken to a high security airport at a secret location ( Junon, you can smell the fish heads those suckers eat for breakfast) and then flew into Galbadian territory. We had to do an airjump from the plane onto the actual base. This was a black ops mission, but our orders were to secure the target sample, disable Galbadias missile command silos and if we could. Break a few faces. Just to show them that-
" You don't mess with Shinra.....".
I leaned back, recalling the jump from the plane with great love. Easily slipped into my chuete, I'd done this more times than I could count, and whilst Elena was still getting hers on I managed to grab a little feel before jumping out the plane door and blowing her a kiss. Course I'd probably pay for it later. But then who cared. Life was about the here and now. So we managed to land safely enough just outside the base. Luckily they'd seen us coming and had sent a patrol our way. No problem. We knocked the suckers out, stole their uniforms and made off with their car.
Now we were inside the base, me taking off the uniform. Sure it was social camoflague but the damn thing made me itch too much, and that would be bad for drawing attention to myself. So throwing my costume to the side I straightened up my uniform and took out my baton.
Son of a…SOMETHING. Excellent start to an excellent mission, no doubt. Reno was already one and a half sheets to the wind, and it was all Elena could do to not whip out her gun and shoot him somewhere where it’d certainly hurt. ”RENO!” she yelled after him, hastily getting her gear in place.
It was hard not to ask Rude for help as she normally had to, but it would be slightly…well, a lot more embarrassing than “just a bit”. Rude was experienced, probably moreso than Reno, and he was certainly more reliable than Reno. Their mission objective wasn’t the clearest thing in the world, but then again, what did you expect when you were a Turk? As usual, she wasn’t overly informed. That thing was left to the “big kids”, aka Rude and Reno. She could only guess hat it had at least something to do with the escaped lab sample…at LEAST something if not everything.
Why else would they be sent away so hastily? Finally taking a breath and making the jump, Elena tried to keep her eyes open. She wasn’t the best with heights, earning her plenty of teasing from…everyone, but if she wanted to kill Reno AND finish their mission, it was inevitable.
By the time she reached the ground, rather ungracefully, her face was a startling combination of pink and nauseous green, though it quickly faded to her more frequently apparent beet red complexion. As usual, though, she had even more difficulty removing her gear. Oh, this was going to end well. ”Er..Reno..” Please let Rude be down soon. PLEASE. ”Help? Mission. Mission. Mission. Please let her just get out of this horrible contraption, mess of wires and camo suit and be able to shoot something. Something preferably red.
After cleaning up for Rufus, a task which Rude found not to his liking they were all dragged off to a briefings room to finally get assigned some real action. Although Rude would be the last to admit it, he was glad. The fight out there had brought back a fire that had been for now smoldering away in the dark. But now with a new mission on the horizon there was at least something to look forward to. Before the mission, Reno had slunk off, presumably to get in todays drink before he was sent off again.
But Rude wasn't that type of guy. Sure he'd have a drink, but only when he was off duty, being drunk during a mission would harbour his combat effectiveness and therefore the fighting ability of the entire unit. The mission was a simple one ( in Rude's mind) Sabotage and retrieval , they'd stolen a sample from Shinra, now Shinra were stealing it back. And then some. After a shower to get the stink of that monster off him he quickly did a short training excercise and was brought to the airfield with Reno and Elena.
There they were loaded onto a Shinra cargo plane and flew off towards Galbadia. The land of their new enemies. Both Reno and Rude were seasoned pros at aerial insertions. But Elena he wasn't too sure about. Reno had gotten his stuff on pretty quick and managed to give Elena " the slip" before he had jumped out. Well. There was no use trying to teach a dog how to be a cat. Following after Reno he jumped out. Entering the base had been fairly simple, knocking out a few passing guards and stealing their uniforms and veichle.Of course, that was after he had helped Elena get out of her....predicament. Such a thing could have gotten her shot, and she probably knew it. " Need some practice" . He commented. After entry however it seemed Reno wanted to take his uniform off.
Rude couldn't aruge. It was poor quality material. Following Reno's example he shook off the uniform of the Galbadian military and cracked his knuckles. Time for the party to begin.
I found Elena's squirming with her safety clip too funny to ignore. But that was all in the past, Rude had helped her out and we were now inside the base and ready to take part in the mission. By the look on her face at the moment Elena looked like she wanted to kill him. Then again, when was she not like that. Knowing her she probably had a mountain of sexual harassment letters just waiting in her filing cabinet. She was the type. Everyone knew what he was like before they started working with him.

It was one of those....what do you call it? Dangers of the job? I shrugged. To some of the ladies is was a perk....but Elena was very rarely ever amused at that sort of thing, besides the girl drooled over Tseng so much I'm suprised the guy doesn't have his own personal swimming pool splashing about by his expensive leather shoes.
None the less this was not the time for thinking like that, the uniform off, Rude in kickass mode, and the rookie ready to kill the next guy that looked at her the wrong way, we were in the mission mindset. Sneaking forwards I slowly approached a Galbadian sentry, grabbing him from behind, covering his mouth and giving him a slight jolt with my stun baton. He fell down like a ton of bricks. Stepping over his body, I grabbed his keys and took a look at the base map.
" Ok it would seem that the sample room is to the north, typically the missle silo is to the south....dunno about you guys but why do the bad guys always make our objectives in two opposite directions?"
Finally being able to shrug off the itchy material of the stolen army uniforms, Elena rolled her shoulders, settling into her second skin, the crisp fabric of Shinra uniforms, cold metal against her hip. Now this was more like it, even with the previous embarrassment, the sound of Reno’s stun baton was oddly soothing. It was a routine sound, one that signaled when the rookie within her needed to be shut off and the Turk switched on.
Besides, she could let out her anger on any unsuspecting Galbadian armed forces. Catching up with the obnoxious flame-haired man and Rude, weapon drawn, she tried not to seem too tense. Missions that involved killing were still something for her to squirm at. Reno had a point though, one of his slim fingers poking at the map, his lazy voice tinted with annoyance.
He was the leader, he called the shots, but she really didn’t want to split up. Why? Two reasons. One, Rude’s last glance as he had helped her out of her safety gear told her as much as she needed to know behind tinted lenses, she was still far off her game. ”We could always hit up the silo first, then retrieve the sample…” she suggested, biting at her lip. Either way, they'd be at immediate risk running around with a sample or setting off the alarms while messing with their missle silo. Honestly, these plans weren’t her area of expertise. That was usually Tseng, and Reno wasn’t known for his notorious plot-hatching skills. Not to mention, something tugged at her not to leave either of them alone. Call her paranoid, but....
Stay calm.
Stay cool.
Breathe in, breathe out. That wasn’t so hard, was it? Let’s try again. In. Out. Think. Think.
If their main mission was to retrieve the sample, then perhaps they should risk it and just head for—no, as Turks their mission was the WHOLE mission, to be completed efficiently, swiftly and with little cleanup afterwards. It was part of wearing their navy-black uniforms, the dignity and responsibility that came with it. What to do…what to do.
Reno had effectively taken out one guard, jumping over his body Rude almost thought that he would have missed picking up a set of keys to unlock any doors that they might encounter. But no he doubled back and grabbed them. Next came the comment about the map and what they were going to do. He noticed that both objectives just as Reno had noted were on opposite sides of the base. And that it would be very difficult to reach both of them alone. But there was something that neither of them were taking into account.
“ Your forgetting…right now Galbadia are outside Midgar…our forces are moving into attack probably as we speak…”.
Indeed he had no doubt that the sound of his voice would shock Elena and Reno into listening. After all he rarely ever did talk. But when he did it was always something important. “ Although our main objective is retrieving the sample there is a reason for us being asked to sabotage the missile system…if the battle goes in the favour of Midgar, the sorceress is likely to demand a missile attack upon Midgar, just as she did on the Al Bhed because of their interference in the last battle…”. He scratched his chin. “ Although we have defences against those kinds theres no guarantees that our own defence system will be able to shoot down every single missile aimed at us….”.
He split off from the group. “ I’ll head to the missile defences….you two retrieve the sample….theres a helipad to the west, we’ll meet up there and…commandeer our escape vehicle…”.
So Rude was deciding to go it alone as for the secondary objective. He knew that they'd get paid the same either way, but Rude was right, if they let the Galbadians keep their ability to launch the missiles...things would end up harder for the people back home. But thats the way things went, Shinra could rebuild, and we got paid just as long as we got back what was important. The Jenova sample. I had no idea why it was so important as to send us into Galbadia to grab it....hell I couldn't even figure out why it had been so important for the Galbadians to steal it in the first place. Regardless I agreed with Rude, he understood more of the technical stuff concerning things that went boom.
" Well then rookie....I suppose its just us two grabbing the sample....."
I helt my stun baton on my shoulder as I walked down the corridor leading to the northern area, already I had to figure out just how we'd get out of here. We'd have to take care of this before Rude got to the Helipad. As much as I had love for the big guy he wasn't exactally hard to notice. He didn't know how to fly a copter....that was my deal. I'd have to take this one seriously, otherwise I could risk losing my partner in crime. So to speak.
" Com'on Rookie...don't want Rude beating us to the helipad to ya?".
I gave her a playful smack on the butt to speed her along.
If she wasn’t in the killing mood before, Elena certainly was now. Jumping the slightest bit at Reno’s abrasive touch, which would no doubt leave a blazing red mark on her easily bruised skin. It was almost startling how Rude could just bounce off on his own, goal in mind, especially when Elena knew just as well as Reno did that the redhead was the one with the chopper skills. She had to think for a moment, if she hadn’t been a factor in the team…maybe they could operate better. No, that was rookie thinking.
She had to snap out of it, cocking her gun.Missions with Rude and Reno were awkward, emotionally and physically as the only female on the team. She’d deal though, she always had. Elena just thanked her lucky starts that she hadn’t met Reno while she was still in school…who knew how he’d have reacted to a girl in pigtails and a schoolgirl outfit.
Brushing those thoughts aside, her legs led the way, taking careful and measured strides, keeping a small distance ahead of Reno. As the one weilding the gun, it’d probably be best to scope out any cooridors before Reno entered them. She was tense, stalking with a soldier’s posture, and after a few turns down cooridors, Elena frowned.
They had barely seen any sentries whatsoever, and this was supposed to be a more heavily guarded area of the facility. Double checking to make sure her PDA was on and functioning, Elena stayed silent until finally the uniform of a guard entered her vision. Well, three, technically. They must be getting close. Now this was the hard part of the job: the shooting part. Reno’s rod could shock a person into a state of unconciousness or death if he really felt like it, but it wasn’t quite as loud as her own weapon.
Or maybe she was just used to Rude’s efficent face-to-face tactics and stoic manner and Reno’s laid-back contrast. Where did she fit in? The heads of the sentries were turned away from the two black-clad professionals, giving her the initiative to strike from behind, a kick to the back of the knees, an elbow to the back and his gun was in her hands.
But what to…do with it? It was the hesitation that got her, her trigger finger faltering just a moment. She did shoot, killing the man below her, but it cost her. The cold steel of a gun pressed to her temple shocked her out of any post trauma. She had really, really screwed up. ”Move and her brains paint this place!” Oh please, she was a TURK, wasn’t she? But now, with one gun pointed at Reno and the remaning assault rifle pointed at her temple…Elena just felt stupid. Very, very stupid. It was that damn trigger finger.

There were scantly any guards. And at least none that we had seen. I was begining to get a bit of the itchy finger on my baton, although I wouldn't admit it worry for my buddy started to crawl along my skin. What if they got Rude? Was that why all the guards were seemingly gone? I could only grit my teeth and hope the big bald idiot hadn't got himself caught whilst disabling that missile system. Sure it would help our chances in the war, but it wasn't our main objective.
" Damn that idiot".
I sighed, then again. Rude and I had been in worse situations like this. Taking as an example the whole situation with the old avalanche group. The new ones and their eco-bombing wern't anything in comparison to the old group. Those guys were crazy enough to blow up the whole planet never mind just a couple of reactors here and there. And of course the moment I drop my concentration for a second is the moment that the rookie gets into trouble. I heard their threat, tapping my shoulder with my baton.
" I see.....well I suppose you don't mind if we play a game of...."
" Catch!" I threw the baton, switching on the electric switch. It impacted with the guards head sending thousands of volts through his body and knocking him out. Giving the chance for the rookie to get her ass in gear.
”You IDIO—“ Elena didn’t have time to scream, or even finish her curse before electricity jolted her body. Apparently Reno didn’t know about metal being a conductor for such things, but she was fortunate to already have started jerking out of the guard’s grasp, only getting an extremely painful electric shock that sent her into a brief spasm rather than falling unconscious like the unfortunate guy now a lump on the floor.
Taking a second to try and see straight, Elena readied her weapon, the cold steel still feeling uncertain in her grasp. You know, Rude would never have this problem. Hopefully he was alright; it was evident that Reno was fairly concerned by the recent string of events which was enough to spark Elena’s own worry about the “big guy”. He was the only Turk in their unit, or practically anywhere else that didn’t berate her…as much as Reno, anyways, but she was certain that he’d at least try and make contact through their PDA if something had befallen him. At least.
Back on task now, four gunshots rang out, three of them Elena’s, one an assault rifle blast aimed at Reno. The remaining guards fell, bullets to the legs and lower torso’s tended to make people do that, and Elena didn’t have the guts to outright kill them, though it would probably be a good idea. Instead she moved quickly, hands still a bit shaky from well, gee, getting electrocuted the slightest bit; and grabbed Reno’s baton, making sure the thing was OFF before debating whether to jolt him where it would HURT. Nope, no time for that, and just the thought made her blush like the schoolgirl she still was on the inside.
At least the guards were taken care of for now, she thought, tossing the baton to its respective pain-in-the-ass owner with a ”W-watch where you stick that thing!” comment before continuing on, far more tense than she needed to be. They were closer now, the distinctive hum of science equipment wasn’t too far off now. They could grab the…thing, snatch Rude and go home soon enough…
And she definitely had plans to get back at the two of them once they were back on Shinra grounds.
Making his way to the missle silo hadn't been hard, in fact he'd been rather suspisious to the lack of sentries, but then he'd actually entered the place...and accidently triggered the silent alarm. And now with soldier after soldier was pouring into the room, oppening up fire upon him. Luckily he'd already transfered mannual control from the master computer onto his mobile unit. Although it looked like a phone it was good for a lot more than just calling people. He touched the screen, cancelling the silent alarm. It wouldn't stop the people in this area from knowing there was an intruder...but it would stop those already in this area of the base. But that wouldn't last for too long.
He brought up Reno and Elena's number, typed in a quick message and sent it to them.
" grds on my ass, gt to copter quick cn't hld much lnger, if nded, rtrt wthout me, activating self dstrct".
He cracked his neck, disabled the Galbadian missle's targetted on Midgar, and then reporgrammed them to target themselves. They had twenty minutes...and then this base was going up in flames. He then broke cover, charging past the sentires, taking a shot in the shoulder, he gritted his teeth...but didn't stop running.
I shrugged as Elena got that look on her face. Sure, I knew she'd get shocked. But what else did she want me to do? I didn't really have much time to think, so throwing the nearest thing I had on hand seemed like the best idea at the time. Even if it did electricute her she was still alive. So I just shrugged it off, giving her more of my own brand of grin. It was then my phone started to buzz in my pocket. I brought it out, flipped it open and saw a message from Rude....the big paluka was in trouble....I knew it.
" Damn it....."
Not just that he was apparantly surrounded, but the guy had activated the bases self destruct. " Shit....". I looked around and then began to run towards the area containing the experiment. I turned around and shouted. " You probably seen this by now....but we ain't got the time to be playing anymore Rookie!". There was a security pannel up ahead. I turned the stun option on my baton and drove it deep into the panel. Walking through I found myself in some sort of clean area...there was a box up ahead...it looked like the one that had dropped in Midgar only smaller. It was cool to the touch and marked with Biohazzard tape. The alarm started going.
" Rookie...I think we need to take this and get the hell out of here...whatever you do don't fucking drop it.....I'm not leaving Rude behind so lets make sure we get to that helipad before Rude...".
Shit just didn’t cover it. Their cell phones vibrating simultaneously, Elena flipping it open, Rude’s frantic message sent Elena into overdrive, mentally slapping herself for being, well…a rookie. Waves of guilt overcame her, damning her rookie self to hell. Keeping up with Reno, who really didn’t seem to care about her well being at all now that she thought about it, the thought stabbing her like a knife to the chest, the cool sterilized container containing their Jenova sample now nestled in her arms.
If she dropped it, not only would Reno probably kill her, but it would…well, it would just be bad to say the least. Heart pounding against her ribcage, one arm wrapped around the sample (she didn’t even want to look at it, Elena just wanted to focus now, focus on getting out), her head nodded in agreement. She wanted to offer to go and secure Rude herself, ensure his safety, but only doubled her speed, running back the way they came towards the exit. The look in her partner’s eyes, slight worry behind the normal grin and “fuck the world” attitude, it was enough to make her heart beat that much faster out of fear and adrenaline.
”I-I’ll get themed kit ready!” granted, she already had materia on her that would be able to cure wounds, but Elena was much more secure with dealing with plain bandages and common medicine. Was Rude even hurt? Did they know? Would he be able to get to them unscathed? All she could do for now was keep her pace even and steady, sample tucked under her arm.
Smack, his fist crashed into the face of another gaurd as he twisted his body, bringing around his foot and unleashing a snap kick, shattering the visor of another one of the soldiers. Another ran around the corner, and he grabbed him back the chin....reeling him in and then using his other hand, quickly twisted the soldiers neck in an unnatural fashion. He turned. Not long to get to the helipad now, he only had to hope that both Reno and Elena would have completed their part of the mission and where waiting for them.
" Gotta...keep moving...".
He began to jog, the blood flow from his shoulder had slowed down considerably. Which meant it wasn't a bad shot, flesh wound. For a moment he thought that it had chipped an artery or something...but then again...he probably wouldn't be standing about right now nevermind running. He turned the corner and the doors opened. There were three soldiers guarding a single helicopter, his fist slammed into the first, and the other two he took care of with one of his home made recipies.
" Boom".
There was a small explosion. He jumped into the back of helicopter...and just hoped Elena and Reno would arrive soon.
I jumped around the corner, the rookie following close behind carrying the cooler with the sample of the Jenova project in. I had hoped to god that she didn't drop it. We all knew what happened the last time that someone dropped one of those boxes. I shuddered. Soldiers ran around the corner. Quick reflexes and training as a turk kicked in. Skidding to a stop and drawing my stun baton. It extended just as I stopped, colliding with the face of one of the Galbadian soldiers, I felt the recoil up my entire shoulder as he glass visor on the helmet shattered, the metal crunching through to the flesh and bone lying beneath.
My foot spun spun around hooking in the other soldier and slamming him down into the ground. Quickly I finished him off with an electrified prod from my stun baton.
"Hey rookie...watch it with that box, you drop it first thing that monster is gonna attack is you".
I winked, giving her another one of my smirks. " And I don't want the monster damaging that booty ". With that said, hopefully it would calm her down a bit. The next corner led me into the open courtyard just in time to see Rude's little light show and him jump into the copter. I ran into the helipad, jumping into the copter and turning the keys. The blades began to turn. Looking back at my buddy I saw all he had were a couple of flesh wounds. Bit of a relief.
" Elena, clean Rude up...seems he's been eating spaghetti again without the fork...".
“Shut UP, Reno!” Elena shrieked, more agitated than anything. Really, he picked the worst times to make her blush. Soldiers down, more blood shed, and some of it Rudes…Elena found it a bit hard to process, even though she was more of a seasoned rookie than she had been only a short while ago.
It was hard not to break into a sprint at the sight of the 'copter, a welcome relief from the conflict and stress. Reno had taken care of whoever was following them, and she was more than happy to hear a slightly authoritative tone of voice undermining the usual tease in her partner's tone. Orders. She could follow orders, one hand slipping to her gun, hoping to relish some form of comfort out of it. All she felt was cold metal against her palm, causing her to jerk back.
Protecting the sample was what was more important anyways, nevermind the slight burn on her face. Propelled air slowed her down only a fraction as her legs picked up speed, pumping her just a few more feet into the open passenger area of the 'copter. She slid the heavy door closed, just in case any re-occuring fire was sent their way. If that sample dropped, she was dead, bullets in the head or not. Setting it securley in its own seat-belted seat, Elena set to ripping the first-aid kit out of an overhead latch.
"Er..Rude, where exactly did you get hurt?" It was difficult to tell with blood staining his shirt, but soon she located the source, dabbing away excess blood and preparing a salve for the wound. She'd bandage it when Reno took off and gave them the green light. "Reno! Get going!"
