Wall Market was, as usual, filled with near endless amounts of rats and filth. And those were just the people. Litter was piled high enough to make a veritable mountain of garbage from which makeshift stalls seemed to procure most of their wares. Sure, the weapon shop and the grocery store seemed to be legit enough; but since when did people wear pieces of broken cars around their necks as pendants? Or wore wedding rings with a chip of glass instead of a diamond (or at least cubic zirconium).
One figure in particular stood out in the crowd, for the simple reason he wasn't milling about like the rest of the raggety people of Wall Market. He was looking at a badly hand-drawn map with one hand on a shortsword at his waist. One couldn't tell from just looking at the person that he was, indeed, male (his mother had once told him he had very feminine eyes). His voice was also just high enough to be considered girly, yet just low enough to be considered male, not that he talked too often anyway.
After a few moments of consulting his map, the figure looked up and stowed the piece of paper in one of his various pockets. He quickly detatched himself from the crowd and moved into a much less crowded allyway. Once safely in the shadows, the figure removed his hood and began sighed deeply. Unfortunately for him, a large figure stepped out from the darkness behind him and wrapped an arm tightly around his neck before Vale could react. The man whispered menacingly, "looks like I got myself a little prize, eh?"
The young Lucavi found himself cursing his effeminate appearance more and more in this city. Fortunately, the man neglected to note Vale's shortword and was subsequently stabbed in the leg with two feet of steel. That was when his eight buddies decided to step out from the shadows and when Valedus decided it would be a good time to vacate the premises. He sprinted back into the crowded street and quickly disappeared into the endless mob of people, easily losing the persuing men. After nearly ten minutes he sat down on a rock, breathing heavily.
"Tch..."
