Working endlessly into the night the scientists of Esthar continued their research, all working on one single project. The Lunar Cry. A phenomoneon that had not been researched before, something which puzzled the scientists greatly. For many years now the leader of Esthar had pondered over the Lunar Cry and what it stood for, his orders back then still stood strong today. His quest to learn more about this strange occurance was almost like an obsession, back and forth he would pace the royal halls. His hand rubbing his strong chin, his gaze fixed onto the floor as he walked up and down on the parquet floors. An occassional grunt or similar sound would emit from his mouth every so often, his paitence wearing thin hard to believe from a man formerley from the Galbadian army. Strands of his long black hair fell over his eyes as he looked out over to the lab of Dr Odine, night had set in a few hours ago most had gone home to rest for the night. Laguna though..well he was President of Esthar, his mind never stopped. Constantly thinking of ways to improve Esthar for the better, but this time his mind was more preoccuiped with the Lunar Cry. Tiny beads of sweat formed atop his brow as he came to the decision to visit Dr Odine this night, slamming shut the doors to the royal palace his pace quickened while his mind continued to tick over the prospect of such a disaster coming to Esthar. With Laguna’s statue a prior appointment was not necessary, that of course did not mean that Dr Odine liked it anymore him showing up unannoucned the way he usually did. Like Laguna the good doctor paced many a time when thinking and tonight was no exception, his eyes though were fixed upon the computer screen. The date he had inputted earlier had just finished calculating and the result....well not one that anyone could have predicted.
“Dr Odine what are your findings regarding the Lunar Cry?”
The president’s voice almost seemed to boom through the lab, luckily only Dr Odine was still here and was used to Laguna’s body language and speech. Rolling his eyes and groaning he slinked his amrs behind his back as he shuffled over to another computer screen, punching a few keys a diagram of Gaia and the moon appeared on the big screen in front of them both. Turning his back to the screen Dr Odine’s beady eyes looked right into Laguna’s, the expressions of both now serious. A sigh of impaitence escaped Laguna’s mouth as he crossed his arms over his chest, Dr Odine however took his sweet time usually just to annoy Laguna due to his constant suprise visits.
“Well I have deduced that ze Lunar Cry iz close to starting, Esthar will be ze first place it strikes and zen spreading outwards to ze other continents.”
“Is there anything we can do to avert this disaster.”
“...I am afraid not, ze Lunar Cry is triggered once ze moon and ze planet are at specific points in alignment with each other. The monsters zen come together and fall due to the special gravitional pull, zey will fall right onto Esthar. Zere is no stopping it.”
“How long do we have?”
“According to my calculations...zere is approximately...6 months til ze Lunar Cry.”
“Thank you Dr Odine....continue your research.”
The conversation just seemed to flow as though it was a perfectly normal thing to discuss, bowing slightly to each other Laguna left Dr Odine to his research or rest depending what he chose to do. Taking his leave from Dr Odine the president of Esthar decided on a slow walk back to the presidential palace, his hands shoved into his trouser pockets intertwining his fingers with the contents. Stopping just before the entrance Laguna looked up into the starry night sky, a solemn expression on his face.
“....What about Adel?”
The familiar voice of his former army team mate Kiros caught him off guard somewhat, not even turning his head the president lulled over the question in his mind. Yes Adel. She had been a problem, quite a big problem before he came to Esthar.
“What about her...she is imprisoned in one of the safest places, the Lunar Cry is our priority. We need to prepare.”
