Personality:
Hojo.. is unique to say in the least. He is a genius, a genius with no moral or scruples. Hojo embodies the phrase “The ends justify the means” he has no issue with making others suffer if he deems it to be for a “good” cause. The problem is that what he deems to be a good cause is something that advances his science. For him, logic and curiosity trumps justice and moral any day. He NEVER does anything just for the sufferings sake or his own kicks, there is always a logical reason behind every test and punishment, and no matter how cruel it may seem, for example: If he deems that a subject speaks too much or too freely, maybe he will stitch its mouth shut as a lesson. You can’t argue with logic, even though it is dark and twisted.
He's mainly withdrawn and social impaired; to say it simple is that he doesn't like or bother with people, although he manages a good conversation from time to time if he finds that it is needed; although he finds talk about the weather idiotic. He seems disgusted with those people that are flamboyant and know how to smooth-talk everyone, maybe one of the reasons why he can't stand Rufus. One of the other reasons is that he can't fool and manipulate the younger man like he did the former Shinra president. He's also a workaholic, never found somewhere else than in the field or in one of the Labs that he may use. Many suggest that he doesn't have a live, but he does have one, it's his work. He loves nothing more than that and will snap at anyone who tries to make him stop with what he loves to do.
He manages to keep up with this with the large amounts of coffee he drinks, it isn't too unusual to see his desk full of empty coffee cups from some place, it's noticeable that it is never from the Shinra Cafeteria. He loads and loves it at the same time; he actually only stays because he may do so much things that he otherwise wouldn't be able too. It doesn't mean that he stays silent, one can find him cursing softly underneath his breath at Shinra as well.
Appearance:
He's never seen without his usual lab-coat and hunched over something. He can be seen often with his glasses off, his hand pinching and rubbing the bridge of his nose if he's irritated or tired or thinking. It's always a guess. Underneath his lab-coat he carries a simple grey shirt with a small tie and black pants that are held up around his thin waist with a simple belt.
His shoes are always spotless, always cleaned carefully instantly if something dirty get on it. He hates dirt on those shoes. Many don't know what kind of casual clothes he carries, as not many approach him because of his appearance. His hair is dark and greasy, Hojo never finding the time to clean himself. His brown eyes, often appearing dark in annoyance, or gleaming with a dark ungodly light are covered by round glasses perched on his nose.
Worries and other negative things have graved permanent wrinkles in his face and his lips tugged down. It's obvious that he had been a handsome man at some point however but that this work has destroyed it forever.
Equipment:
Needles/Syringes, chemicals and other small, sharp objects, in dire situations, a small gun.
His coat pockets are filled with an array of chemical cocktails and needles that he uses as weapons, often quite skillfully.
He also tends to carry around a notebook, if he has some great idea then he can write that down instantly.

History:
On a quiet day in 1942,Hojo was born in the peaceful town of Cosmo Canyon to a father and mother who did not exactly know what they’d put into this world…
He learned early on everything that could be known about the Live-stream. He sucked every ounce of information in that he got his hands on.
When the young boy reached the tender age of 11 the Energy Crisis set in, which in turn made the winter of that year unspeakably harsh, even in the Canyon. Sometime after it set in, the nature of Hojo’s questions changed and took on a more chilling tint – presumably because of all the suffering he had witnessed. The before so cute curiosity about Lifestream and its workings became disturbing, bridging to an obsession. As the years went by he began to feel more and more isolated from his peers, making him dive deeper into his musings in search for a cure to his burning desire for answers to his questions. He found salvation in science!
The cold, rational and clinical reasoning appealed to Hojo and allowed him to submerge even deeper into the knowledge stored in his mind. Hojo turned 17 the year mako was discovered, a finding that made the youth’s obsession reach its peak. The principle of mako and it’s, to him, unlimited power, was far more enticing than any girl he could have met. He tried arguing for the use of mako in conjunction with the principles of the Canyon. However, the Canyon elders did not view the hasty youth’s ideas with kindness. They argued that he had lost all respect for Gaia and her inhabitants by perusing science the way he did. This dispute eventually led to Hojo leaving, on not so good terms, to continue his studies elsewhere…
He eventually ended up at Shin-Ra at the age of 20, working as a lab assistant on various projects that he was assigned too. The biggest triumph was being assigned to the “Jenova project”, with his intelligence and a knack for combining his unique fields of knowledge he quickly won favor, rising in the ranks. Ultimately, after the “unfortunate” demise of a certain Dr Gast, he gained the support of the President Shin-Ra and was promoted to the high position “Head of Science Department”. During this time, the social climate and the things he had done during his earlier projects with the company in cold blood had hardened him even further. But despite this, his curious nature was not quenched; quite the opposite. When gaining the high office at the department, Hojo’s nature had entirely changed. His cold-blooded and manipulative sides now prominent while compassion and moral had been almost entirely been forgotten on the process.
In the current days he’s one probably the one with the highest “Avoidance rate” in the entire Shinra building, people generally make a detour if they seem him approaching and quite frankly, Hojo doesn’t mind at all. The decline in social interaction was a low price to for the immense knowledge he has gained through his… rather special methods…Besides, he can’t think of anyone he would actually want to interact with either.
In truth the professor doesn’t have much to spare for the company despite having worked at Shinra long enough to count as interior decoration, but he will remain loyal for as long as he deems it worth his while and well…let’s put it this way: He has yet to acquire another, better, work offer which requires his very special expertise.

The hunched, by now, familiar form of the professor travelled through the halls; as he expected everyone went to the side to let him pass. They hoped to try and escape his bad tempter, he would have snapped at them for the fun of it. But his mind was focused on something else, something great! He maybe had found a way to catch something into Mako, like that one woman had done.... what was her name again? Lucrecia?
Yess, the beautiful Lucrecia.
He almost felt a tinge of regret at what he had done to her. The results however where good enough to wipe every ounce of regret from his mind, he still had Sephiroth. He couldn't have thought of a creature that was more perfect than him. He saw her clearly in the Soldier's features, the only thing that was left of her and he treasured it although it couldn't be said about his actions. He cared for the silver-haired male in his own, abnormal and wicked way.
Anyway, continuing on the first train of thought. He had found a way to catch something in Mako like she had done to herself, maybe he could make new summons. He froze, making everyone freeze around him as well. His thoughts swirled wildly around his head, he had to examine this further. He felt suddenly giddy, if he managed to do it, then... then he would be more respected and feared than ever! He chuckled, before it turned into full out laughter.
He continued on walking then, everyone's gaze following him. They only relaxed when he was far out of sight, before they continued on with what they were doing, before seeing him.
He knocked on the door of the President, a scowl finally twisting his features. He would rather die than speak with that arrogant bastard again, but it was needed. He had permission to enter and opened the door, trying to force his features into a more neutral gaze "Ah, Professor Hojo." the man before him spoke, he dipped his head briefly in acknowledgement "Rufus." He spoke in turn. He took the papers that where clasped underneath his arm and spread them out before the President's desk and waited for the younger man to take it and look through them.
The man finally did so, Hojo was sure that he waited so long on purpose. The silence was getting on his nerves and he shifted his weight lightly, finally those cold blue eyes focused on him again "Fascinating." The blonde spoke. WHAT??!! Was that the only thing he could think off? His features wanted to twist in a bitter look again "Indeed." He answered instead "Do I have the permission to carry it out?" He questioned, he didn't really need it, but it was better to be on the safe side.
A greedy look flashed over his features as the younger man finally nodded. He scooped the papers back up and turned, practically flying back to his labs in his haste to return there.
