Alister must have made a wrong turn because now he was back on the highroad heading toward Luca. Perfect he thought to himself. "Great, im back to where i started from.... Alister spoke out loudly with an angry tone in his voice. Circling around on the dirt ground path that lead to Luca.
Stopping in complete frustration he sensed something from behind. But as he turned his head over there was nothing behind him, sighing to himself he decided to keep moving forward maybe get new directions in Luca. As his feet begun to move his body fully stopped as he felt a warm breathing breath blasting onto his neck. Alister knew this was a bad sign, he didn't want to make what ever was behind him angry by taking out his bow. He had no magic that would cause damage, only spell he knew was cure which was to heal wounds. Turning his entire body around very slowly he saw a large fiend that had all four legs on the ground with three heads growling at him.
What on earth was this type of fiend? He had never seen this one on the highroad before he thought to himself. "All right you wan to play lets do this then! Alister spoke with a grin and dashed backwards quickly taking out his Elvaan made bow. The beast growled and darted toward Alister. Lifting his hand he pulled out a arrow and pointed his ]bow at the fiend. "Circle Bind! Alister shouted, as soon his magic in his body began to fuel his hands. The arrow began to glow bright white. Forcing the arrow to leave the bow it went straight toward the charging beast.
As the arrow made a direct hit, the fiend had froze in mid charge. This was Alister chance to to finish the combo of his signature move. Taking out his short blade he rushed toward the fiend and went in for a left strike, then following up with a right strike. Both strikes were smooth, here it comes the finishing blow. Grippng his sword he placed both hands on the end of the sword and went and pushed the sharp peice into the center of the flesh of the fiend.
But the magic of his arrow broke free and simple used its right head and slammed Alister hard. Alister went back a few feet dropping his sword on the ground. Landing onto the ground hard, Alister grunted feeling a small pain in his back.
As Alister landed in a distinctly unpretty way, the young Genome went catapulting over his head in ways that humans could only dream of. He spun, finger held tightly over the trigger of his Spearshot, bringing the bladed end down directly on to the same right head that had just butted Alister to the side. Things with multiple heads often had a weakness on either far-side head, as the others could not assist quite as well. Which was why, as his spear smashed in to it, and he tugged the trigger, the poor thing would be pretty well smarting after that.
His arc had finished, and without hesitating, he vanished completely from the spot, appearing next to Alister, the bladed end pointed directly at the fiend. "How come the Spira people can't fight so good?" He asked, with a hint of a playful smile tugging at his cheeks. He hadn't meant any insult by it, which was blatant, considering the cheeky smile that broke out completely.
He tugged down the trigger, so he could fire directly at the creature. Several bullets were sent rocketing in it's direction, more to send it packing than to actually kill it - but, should it take the full assault, there weren't many things who could take six total rifle shots and come out on this side of the mortal coil.
Wrinkling his nose a bit, he added "And how come you all always get in trouble so easy?" He added, tail twitching gently from side to side. He was feeling unusually aggressive today, the SeeD finally on his first long-distance mission, on his OWN, no less! He was here to watch the Luca team do their water-ball thing, and make sure nothing happened. They suspected that someone was intentionally trying to sabotage them, and it was his job to watch and keep that from happening...
if it did, of course.
He offered his free hand down to the other, to help him to his feet, careful not to let his eyes fall from the now two-headed beast. These things typically ran, if one or more head was in jeopardy, and he was pretty much hoping that was the case this time around. Not that he had a problem vanquishing fiends or whatever, he just thought it was kind of pitiful to keep fighting when you were distinctly outclassed. One fiend against a legendary SeeD from Balamb Garden?
As Alister moved his body off the ground he saw what looked like a flying monkey flying into the air and fireing some type of gun. First one was a sharpe spear like gun and took out one of the three headed fiend. Soon right after that bullets were being fired. Alister looked up as a hand came down at him offering him to be helped up from the ground. Taking the hand Alister smiled and was brought up from the ground.
Alister stared at the young boy with a monkey tail as the fiend growled louder and took the bullets and stopped charging. "What are you?" Alister asked the boy confused to what on earth this person was. His attention though was broken as he heard another loud growl from the fiend. The use to be three headed fiend was now two began to move its heads like it was preparing something like a final move of some sort.
His bow was only a few feet away with quick speed he could maybe fire couple arrows to try to take it down with out anyone getting hurt. Darting toward his bow he lowered his self onto the ground and made a roll move toward his bow. His hand made his way toward the ground skidding with the dirt to slow his pace down as he moved with the ground. Placing his hand on the bow he quickly lifted his right hand over his back to brought out two arrows. As he aimed his bow with the two arrows toward the beast he notice the beast preparing its attack toward the monkey like boy.
With in stink he sprinted toward the boy while placing his bow on his back. The fiend's heads opened its mouth as two giant balls of fire came out of its mouth and formed one giant fire ball that went for the boy. Everything was now in slow motion as Alister was now running as fast as he could toward the boy. What seemed like a life time of time slowing down Alister pushed the boy out of the way but was struck by the final blow of the fiend. The fiend fell to the ground vanishing into the sky of Spira.
The impact made his way onto Alister as he was blasted backwards recieving a badly burn. The fire ball was so much pain for Alister he had blacked out onto the ground. Smoke rose from the blast only showing Alister on the ground out cold.
He looked quite perturbed at this situation. His eyes had never left the two-headed monster, because plain and simple, he knew better. If he did, he'd just be distracted long enough to get beat up, and honestly, he wasn't all that interested in getting beat up. He couldn't get to Luca if he got killed, and he'd make the Garden and the SeeDs - who didn't have much exposure in Spira - look bad.
So, as the question was asked, he just shook his head "Can't fight and talk at the same time, it makes them both more difficult! C'mon, don't you know how to do this?" He asked, sounding ironically annoyed with the other guy. It was mostly amusing because everyone was typically annoyed with HIM, not the other way around. Still, as the beast started focusing on his fireball, and indeed, launched it at him, Asher lifted his Spearshot.
The plan had been to teleport behind the beast while it was checking the aftereffects of the giant fireball, and pretty much cut the thing to ribbons. Side note - his tail ribbon today was green, and perfectly matched his vest that was on top of just skin today - Spira was a bit warmer than Balamb, and so he was without a shirt today.
Nevertheless, that plan was foiled, as he found himself shoved! He clattered to the ground, and it was only because he was just that dexterous that he was able to roll with it, and not lose his weapon - or impale himself on it - in the process. He popped back up in time to see the fireball smash in to the guy, no doubt on par with Fira or Firaga.
He shook his head, as the fiend had apparently used up all of whatever kept them alive in that attack, which, in his opinion, was just silly. It could have run away, and probably nursed it's third head back to health! But then again, he knew that Fiends weren't really creatures of logic or justice or even a little bit intelligent, even if he occasionally found one with a book or magazine. He always just chocked that up to awkward coincidence, not actually that the fiend was able to read it.
He had to fight off the laugh that came with the image of a Cerberus with three pairs of reading glasses on. No, he had to help this guy - again - because the guy didn't seem to know how to fight. He got closer, wrinkling his nose a bit at the scent. The guy was obviously unconscious, which was good, but at the same time, it made him wonder how Spirans got along on a daily basis.
Kneeling next to him, he reached in to one of his pockets, producing a Potion - one of the few curative items he ever kept on his potion, and poured the healing concoction along the man's wounds. Asher looked on - glad that at least, he hadn't had to use his only Phoenix Down.
Asher would sit with him until he came to, to fend off any other monsters that might decide that a downed body would make an excellent snack, tail wagging gently from left to right, swaying in time with his heart. Eyes peered up at the sky, gauging the time of day. He at least had a couple of hours before he had to report to the Luca waterball team, so this wasn't so bad a situation.
Worst case scenario, he'd lift the guy, and start heading towards Luca to an infirmary or something! That seemed like a decent idea. "Spirans are silly." He murmured to himself, the observation not really needing to be said aloud, but done so anyways. Restraint? Banish the thought!
Alister cold feel a light feeling rushing through his entire body. Like a tingle buzzing from his legs to his head. This lasted about a few seconds when Alister could open his eyes, as he opened his eyes he could see the sky and some figure but everything was blurry. Reopening his eyes every few seconds his vision came back to him and he saw that it was a monkey boy that he saved. Finally after minutes of silence Alister decided to say something to the kid, "Sorry, sometimes i don't think right...Thank you! He spoke as he found himself getting up off the ground.
Turning his head side ways to see the boy and almost seemed to think it was a similar thing from his home land. But they were only females, Alister never saw any of his homeland because he was just a baby and all he could do was image everything in his head as he mother told some stories about it. "Nice tail! Name is Alister, and im not from Spira. I was just brought up here on the Highroad." Alister spoke to the kid as he raised his hand to shake.
Smiling he began to think what he just did. Shaking his head as he lowered it to the ground. What on earth was Alister thinking. He could have killed himself. His mother would never have approved of him trying to save someone he doesnt even know. Know he looks like a weak human that doesn't know how to fight. Why must he do crazy stunts like this? "Um so whats your name? Where you headed? Im headed toward's Luca. Are you heading that way? Because if you are maybe we can travel their together in hopes i don't get lost again, or run into another of those foul creatures. Aliser spoke as he rose his head back up from the ground and looked atthe kid. It seem Alister was now talking alot and he caught himself and decided to shut up and wait for a responce.
Though he had thoroughly disliked the idea of having to save someone who was carrying weapons around, and for the most part thought Alister was kind of brainless and silly, Alister managed to endear himself on the young Genome. He'd said quite possibly the best thing he could have to the boy. He complimented his tail. While Asher might have just left him here before, now that he was awake, Alister had more than likely just made a friend for life.
He smiled wide and broad, an excited nod making his head look like it might rattle right off. His tail wagged back and forth, and he had to try and calm himself down. He was supposed to be a big respectable SeeD, but... his TAIL!
"Thanks! I like my tail lots, it's wonderful and it's got soft fur and I can move it around and use it to climb trees and hang from stuff and..." He trailed off, letting himself slip into a reverie of imagination and wonderment. Yeah. He loved his tail, that much was obvious. After a few seconds, though, he had to shake his head to keep himself on track. Mission! Right!
"S'okay! Next time don't worry about me. I'm a SeeD, from Balamb Garden! I'm trained to do stuff. Like get out of the way of a fireball." He said, a backhanded remark if there ever was one. It didn't take much training to not stand in the way of a straight-line projectile. Plus, the boy could teleport when he needed to, and it was an instant thing. He hadn't been in any danger at all. He just shrugged absently. At least the guy said he wasn't Spiran, so there was hope for them, yet.
Wiggling a bit, he stood on his toes. "My name's Asher, and like I said, I'm a SeeD! I'm on a mission from Balamb, goin' to Luca so I can be all important and stuff. That's why you're so lucky I came along, I don't even live on this continent!" He brought his hand up to the back of his head, scratching easily, squeezing one eye shut. It felt good!
He let out a little noise, that sounded like a mix between a yelp and a laugh. "Yeah, I'll walk with ya to Luca. Though, technically I'm supposed to charge you, I think, for a SeeD escort, I figure since I already saved ya once, I won't worry about money yet. Though you owe me a potion!" Asher added with a little laugh.
Alister was a strange one. He carried weapons like he knew what to do with them, but it was kind of obvious that they were a bit clunky in his hands. He might not have formal training, since he was brought up on a road - which made him wonder why he was out here on his own, and how he'd managed to survive this long without getting gobbled up by some fiend or another!
He wrapped his tail around his Spearshot, so that he could carry it without using his hands. "So, if you're not from Spira, where ya from? 'cause, I mean, Spira's a cool place. I like it. If it weren't for that big monster thing, I might want to come here and stay for a bit after I finish my mission." He winced, at that. What if the big monster showed up at Luca?
Was he supposed to protect the waterball players from something so huge? He supposed he would have to, even though that didn't really fall under the contract of protecting from sabotage. Wrinkling his nose, he brushed it off. Honestly, he wasn't so worried about it that he'd remember the worry in two minutes.
He leaned forward a bit, sniffing at the man. "Huhm. You don't smell right." He added, before blushing, realizing how rude that was. "Not bad! Just... not right. Like... I dunno. I've never smelled a human like you before. You are a human, right? 'Cause I'm not a human. I'm a Gen... Genim... Genome! Genome is what Beis said. He's my brother." He continued to ramble, though it was mostly useless information that pertained mostly to his tail.
Yeah. This would be interesting - both of them were ramblers.
As Alister began to walk with the Genome named Asher a conversation was nearly about to start of much importance. As Alister watched Asher talk about his tail, he almost wanted to touch the tail to see how soft the fur was, but he was not going to ask the boy named Asher to touch his tail. How awkward would that be Alister thought to himself as he listened to Asher talk. As Asher was talking a word came to Alister that made him very intrested in the conversation. SeeD? What on earth is SeeD? "SeeD? Balamb Garden? Whats SeeD and how far away is Balamb Garden? Is this garden part of Spira? Alister asked several questions wanting to know more about this SeeD group and Balamb Garden. Alister began to hear Asher talk about being trained and able to dodge Fire balls like that. "What kind of training?" Once again another question asked to Asher.
They began to walk straight on a path that would soon make them hit Luca in a few hours, hopefully no fiends would attack them. Alister began to wonder what this mission Asher was on that was in Luca. "So this Mission....its in Luca...correct? Maybe i could help in some way? I mean what do i have to lose...nothing right! Alister began to speak and brought up the mission and already began to ramble on about wanting to join which was indeed a stupid mistake for his part. What if this SeeD group was indeed a dangerous group and he made the mistake of wanting to help so now he is going to get killed by this so called Genome. Alister stopped walking and soon gave a fake laugh. He was thinking way to much and soon was glad that Asher made a joke about the charging escort. Or so he hopes he was joking. Luckily Alister had a few potions in his bag he knew he had to re pay Asher for saving his life. Tossing a potion to Asher he smiled, "Were even! Alister spoke with a smile and laugh a bit and then contiune to walk further on the dirt ground.
Alister was the one person who didn't want to talk about his history or his background. So when Asher asked where he came from he wanted to drop the subject so he immieditly went and asked about the big monster thing Asher talked about. "Big Monster thing here? Is that what people are so scared here? I mean i hear other people talking about how their scared of sin? Is that sin? The Big Monster thing?" Alister spoke almost aswering like a little kid wanting to know so much on a topic. But soon that mood quickly switched as his history was brought back into the conversation.
Alister knew he wasn't from Spira but he didn't know he had a type a smell that wasn't human. The topic seemed to not be escaping Alister which got him a little upset but he decided to maybe he would tell Asher a little something to ease him off the subject. "Well lets see, im what my homeland calls me Hume...from what my mother calls me. I guess from my homeland Humes are like humans like you see here in Spira. Enough about my history....that can be talked more from a later time...another story for another time....so your called a Genome. Care to explain what a Genome is?" Alister spoke with a bit of angry at first but soon cooled down as he asked about what a Genome was.
Family! Asher had a brother named Beis. Alister was never told if he had family, the only family member he had was his mother and she had vanished on him not to long ago. Asher would know that something was indeed up now because of the way Alister changed his mood so quickly. He started to think about his mother and missed her, she was the only friend he had. Now she is gone and he is alone in what people call Spira.
He shook his head a little bit. "Sorrryyyy. I can't talk about a contract more than that. I mean, even that's probably not so good, 'cause it's a contract and stuff. It's just not allowed. I wouldn't wanna get demoted or anything." He made a face that looked almost sickly at the idea, tongue lolling out and whatnot. His rank was pretty good for a new SeeD, as most SeeDs started at 5 or less, and he was at 8. But legitimately, he didn't want to ever get a demotion. That would just be too embarrassing.
Still, he could answer the other questions, after a little bit of thought. It wasn't like the Garden was a big secret or anything - if it were, they'd never get anything done! He hummed thoughtfully, trying to realize. "Well, it's a milliondy miles away, back the way I came. I got to take an air ship and everything! It was so cool, I was like a moogle, flyin' and stuff! I stayed up high, even though everyone yelled at me to get down. But I can hold on a lot better than most people. I'm a good climber and stuff."
His words were simple, but nodworthy. Licking his lips absently, he accepted the potion, sniffing once or twice just to make sure it was good. He didn't know if potions could expire, but then again, he'd never made one before. Satisfied, he slipped it in the pouch the one he'd used came from, one of the many along his utility belt.
He leaned forward as they walked, causing the pace to increase a little bit. He wasn't really in the mood to be walking - it was too slow. In fact, he was starting to feel a bit antsy - he liked running, and bouncing through trees to get from place to place. Even teleport-hopping was faster than this! He didn't even pause to see if the other one would keep up, just sort of padding along at a steady hustle.
"They train us to be mercenaries! 'Cause that's what I am. A graduated SeeD can go on missions and stuff, all sorts of things! Like, one of my missions, I got to--" Whoops! He almost spilled the beans. Even though that hadn't been contracted, he wasn't about to do anything that would jeopardize his position, tenuous as it was. Lingering a little on that thought, he stuck out his tongue, gently biting it as a reminder. Not enough to hurt, though!
"So I've got a bunch of years of combat trainin'. I'm like an expert and stuff." He nodded, furiously, even though he didn't really look the part. Agewise, he was a strange one, because Genomes didn't actually age. But he as Asher had only been born a few years ago, and so a majority of his thoughts and experiences were new. It made explaining things like how he was an expert combatant very difficult.
"But yeah, y'gotta be... um... fifteen to nineteen to take the SeeD exam, and that's only after you've done some studyin'. I bet you're too old to do it." He had to stop himself from sticking his tongue out at him - a trait he'd picked up from Marie and had never grown out of as she had.
"But... yeah! I dunno what it's called. Just a big monster. And I dunno much about Genomes, either - I just kind of found out about'em when I met Beis for the first time! He's soo cool, even though he has a hard time talkin' to people. He can tie ribbons and everything. And his tail is blue! Not like mine. His tail is prettier than mine." He pouted. "But yeah. I know we lived in Ball Brand, but I didn't, 'cause I was in Spira with my Black Mage, 'cause we all have black mages... and... I dunno. It's all kind of confusing 'fore that. I don't know how else to put it. But I know we have tails! All of us! And we're all fast and we're good climbers. Like, I can get all the way to the top of the Garden, but no one else can. But I can use my tail." He waved it a little bit, still grasping his Spearshot.
Nibbling on his lower lip, he had to think about that. There were humans that weren't humans? It was such an awkward statement. How were you 'like' a human but not a human? Alister looked human. He just didn't smell quite right. But that could come from any number of things, as Asher knew quite well.
He was good at keeping himself clean, 'cause he could smell himself, unlike so many humans these days. Maybe that was it? Maybe Alister wasn't good at cleaning himself?
He had to bring his hand up, to cover his mouth as he started giggling profusely at that thought. There were a couple students at the Garden like that, and he hated going around them 'cause even though everyone else could keep a distance, it didn't matter - if he was in the same room with them... blegh!
Alister wasn't that bad, at least.
"So, are all the people where you're from not so good at fighting?" He asked, innocently enough. He turned around, so that he was walking backwards as they talked, still managing to keep up that pace that he'd picked up. If they didn't hurry up, he was going to have to leave poor Alister behind. Though, he'd be apologetic, his contract came first.
"And how come you're out here alone? I don't like bein' alone unless I have to be, and even then, I can come up with a friend to go with." Which was hilarious to a few of his real friends, that he still had a couple imaginary ones to play with when he was really bored.
Listening to Asher talk about missions and where he came from was exicting but borwing at the same time. It was the stuff that Alister was not suppose to know that kept him wanting to know more. "So you can't talk about SeeD! Well your missions you can't talk about. But i mean who would know that you told? I wouldn't say anything. I want to do a mission! Alister spoke with a smile but soon he notice that Asher began to pick up the pace in the walking. It was almost as if he wanted to run from the looks of it.
SeeD members were trained to be mercenaries Alister was told. As he payed more attention to Asher he had almost spilled some information on a passed mission which the feeling was almost there but yet it was still quite far to reach. Alister made a small chuckle of a laugh, "You gotta be more careful on what you say. For all you know i might be a SeeD member myself under cover testing you if you really deserve your rank. Alister spoke freely and smiled and began to pick up his own pace now. He didn't want to be left alone on this highroad.
Minutes passed and Asher began to talk and joke about his people not being good at fighting. Alister knew that he made his first impression as being a very bad fighter which was only trying to save the boy. He learned his lesson never to safe someone who knows how to fight. "Maybe my homeland we say humans different....we call them Humes. I didn't have special training like others do here. I had to live and survive on this highroad with my mother. It wasn't easy when your mother pushes you hard with a sword and then magic and expecting you to master it in few hours...if you must know...my home was attacked when i was just a baby. My mother had found a way out of the city and touched some type of portal which brought us here. Since then I have lived here all my life. 19 years. My mother vanished not too long ago, she was really sick. I don't know where she had went....happy know! Alister spoke out of rage, short tempered Alister was. For some odd reason his history background really upset him because he knows nothing of his orgins and history or had no friends. All he ever knew was to survive with his mother on this highroad. "And just so you know, im not a bad fighter....its only when i lose focus i tend to not be such a good fighter. Alister spoke adding on to his words of furry but yet he seemed a bit calmer almost noticing his rage he stopped walking and looked down on the ground, he then looked up at Asher, "ummm sorry....i just tend to get angry at my past and well you know why....i know nothing of my family or history or where i come from. Alister spoke softly with his words toward Asher. He then picked up his pace and made his way back up to Asher and began to start sprinting down the path. Knowing that Luca was only few miles down. "Never been to Luca before! Alister shouted out with exictment.
"No mission for you! It's solo!" He intoned, sharply, again really having to focus to not stick his tongue out at the older boy. It would be way too easy to just go ahead and do that. It wouldn't be fair, though, almost like he was teasing. Even if this guy wasn't actually a Spiran, it wasn't nice to be all rude - he may eventually be a customer of the Garden. Slipping his hands behind his back, he began hopping backwards.
It was when the guy said he might be a SeeD member testing him that he quite literally tripped backwards. Why? He was laughing. He was laughing so hard he had to grab his sides to keep them from exploding.
"Nooo way. No--" More laughing, he was trying so hard to stop. Tears were pooling in his eyes, even, it was far too hilarious.
"You couldn't possibly be a SeeD. No SeeD member would've lost to that thing. Especially with backup." He couldn't help himself. From his downed position, he had to push himself up so he was at least sitting, one hand rubbing desperately at his eyes, to get them to stop watering. He was giggling profusely, now that the full-bellied laughter had fallen away... but still, he couldn't help any of that.
Wow.
"SeeD." he giggled a bit more. "Whooo. Sorry. I tried, I really did." He was forcing himself up at this point, still giving out the occasional giggle.
As they started walking, Alister began his deep life story. He listened as patiently as he could, once more walking backwards so that he could at least watch Alister. Alister, unlike a lot of people he was used to being around, was quite blatant with his emotion. Tilting his head a little bit, he bit his lip. It was kind of a sad story - he himself had nothing to compare it to, nor was he particularly capable of sympathy to his situation. As far back as he could remember, he always had someone with him. From Odion, to his friends at the Garden... he didn't know what it was like to go through life untrained and pushed. Then the only person you have up and vanishing?
He didn't really know what he'd do in that circumstance.
And he didn't know what to say in this one. He pursed his lips, trying to come up with something that would be both appropriate and emotional.
Not coming up with something, he finally decided on another course of action. Pausing completely, he let Alister come a few steps closer before he quite literally pounced him. He enveloped him in a 'bear hug', which was much closer to a 'monkey hug', as he even involved his tail.
It was meant to be comforting. He knew how Beis had comforted him when he was so sad about the ribbons, and he hadn't been able to make him feel better.
After a few close seconds, he disentangled himself from the Hume, notably taking that strange different-but-familiar scent with him as he did. Licking his lip, he nodded.
"If it helps, I don't remember anythin' b'fore a few years ago. Somethin' happened here in Spira that I don't really understand, but my friend who was with me said it was like I was born but different. I don't really understand - but I learned that it's really important to have people 'round. You should move to Luca, if nothin' else than to have people 'round." he nodded, uncertain as to whether or not his words would mean anything to Alister.
"I get to go to a waterball game! I've never seen one before, so it should be fun! Have you ever watched one of those?" he asked, gently, before resuming their course towards Luca. He might not be able to really understand where Alister was coming from, but he might at least be able to make him feel better about his circumstance.
Alister started to laugh with Asher since Alister wasn't SeeD material, since he did lose to that fight in a way. He knew he could have defeated the fiend but he wasn't thinking right and thought he should save the kid from a fire ball, he learned his lesson and will not do that again.
Alister had no idea what this something happened was. Sin was just another new term for Alister, never heard of it before. His mother and him never really journeyed out off the highroad and never saw really anybody traveling sept for few people. He was told to stay away from them for they might have taken him away.
Alister had slowed down in his pace just a little as he could see the road that lead to Luca. It was only about one mile ahead. Move to Luca? Alister thought about it but it didn't fit him because nothing was here in Luca for him. And he wanted to explore this world and maybe see whats out there. "Luca is about one mile ahead.....I don't know if i would want to live here. Nothing to exciting here, I still want to explore and hopefully find out where i am from. Alister spoke to Asher.
Alister could see that Asher was trying his best to help him out, he really appreciates the hard work Asher is putting in. Few minutes passed as their was silence but then Asher began to talk about a water ball game. Among living on the highroad he could hear several people passing by talking about a game called Blitzball but never knew what it was. Could this be the waterball game he wondered to himself. "I have never seen one before. Is it called Blitzball? I heard about a game called Blitzball when i was living on the highroad but never really knew what it is. How do you play the game in water?" Alister asked with a little interest in his words.
Vicious pulled out a cigaret and one of his followers pulled out a lighter immediately and lit it. He held his binoculars steady on his face as he looked through them. He breathed in long and hard and finally let out all out a relaxed sigh. The leader of his plundering gang watched two travellers walking along the road towards Luca. Blonde mohawk and the scariest, smeared facepaint out of the whole lot. He smiled to himself and took another puff as he leaned against his black rusty, and rather large and armored motorcycle. He was armored up too, wearing black spiked shoulder plates and similar parts about his body. He wasn't a very large man but he was tall and a decent build to him. His followers, which consisted of six plunderers, were dressed very similarly. They also all had painted faces for reasons only known to the leader; to weird out and or terrify their victims when they went to steal, loot, destroy, et cetera. Not only that but each was heavily armored carrying swords, daggers and crossbows.
Slowly and carefully he lowered his binoculars. He wasn't a man of many words. He nodded once. His gang stirred to move but he held up a hand and they froze. "You know the drill. Take their things. Kill them. Kill them both. Even the kid." They all jumped on their own motorcycles and turned them on. Like beasts of prey they sped down towards Alister and Asher. Once they reached the duo, they circled the two laughing ever so maliciously with smiles to equal that evil that came from their throats. Then they came to a hault. They circled the two. Two to the right, two to the left, two at their back and the leader blocking the road. Then they each stepped out of their vehicles.
"And where are we headed this fine day towards Luca?" A man to the right began. "I hope you don't plan on arriving there anytime soon, or anytime at all, because, uh," He laughed. "You're not!" They all laughed and spat in unison and the leader simply stood there smiling, puffing away at his cigarette. As they had started laughing in unison, they stopped and their smiles were only on about half of their faces. The others glared with eager intent to kill. The two to the right pulled out regular swords. The two to the left pulled out twin swords from their backs. The two behind them pulled out crossbows and their leader simply stood there not bothering to draw his broadsw0rd on his own back.
"Now, you're gonna do us a big ol' favor and hand us all you've got," another said carefully. "And die. How's that sound for ya?" They all stepped forward except for the two weilding the crossbows who aimed for their heads. "NOW!"
Objective: Four plungerers charge at you. Two to the right and two to the left. 400 words to kill each plungerer. 2000 to kill the leader. Attack whoever you want at whichever order, preferrably the leader last. It does not have to be ones who are already charging at you.
((Sorry it took so long. And sorry if it sucks. This is my first Admin Post. Cut me some slack lol ENJOY!))
The sound of motorcycles was naught but a quiet humming in the distance, as Asher bounced a little bit, next to Alister. It wasn't until they approached, that his brows narrowed. Tail flexed uncertainly, as his hand reached behind him for his weapon of choice. His Spearshot. There were seven men total - all of them growling and glaring and looking like fools - dangerous fools.
Asher's muscles tensed a little bit, though his smile remained.
"I'll let'ya leave if you do it quickly, 'kay?" He said, though they replied with their assorted threats.
"Be careful, Alister. Stay back, I'll handle this!" The monkey boy brought his hands together in a thorough little clap.
( BEGIN BATTLE // WORD COUNT STARTUP! )
They rushed, and Asher smiled. Four people came forward, with two remaining carefully positioned in the back, no doubt waiting for the two of them to move, so as to fire at them. Asher, however, was not the kind of boy to be taken from a distance, not when he himself was capable of such ridiculous feats of marksmanship himself. He knew precisely how quickly a single shot could end a fight - and he was certain that even if the weapon in question was a crossbow, the shot would be lethal enough, provided it hit the right target. Immediately, his brain began to clock in to overdrive - his eyes and ears tuning to the sounds of each. It was almost as though time itself slowed, and he himself were capable of moving faster than what might otherwise be possible.
Narrowing his eyes, his legs tensed.
A bolt whizzed past, precisely where he might have been, had he not teleported completely. When he appeared again, his body was already in motion, a graceful turn that would no doubt leave any individual envious of his unusually dexterous motions. The spiral was wide, and most notably, glowing - his body was surrounded, by a soft glowing that was steadily diffusing outward. The Spirans would recognize the lights - they were Pyreflies, floating away from him, as though he himself were a fiend that had just been abolished. As the blade of his weapon came forward, it would be inextricably smashed in to the back of the archer that had been focused on Alister - primarily because he figured the one focused on him would no doubt take the shot the second he began to move for real.
His tail flicked to either side of him, as more Pyreflies began to circle around from his body, as if being called by some inexplicable, unexplainable force. The side effect was thus: Haste. His body suddenly picked up speed, as this unusual little display kicked in to full effect, a soft red aura clinging to each and every curve and contour of his figure, leaving an almost magical trail as he moved. His body lifted, as well, so the attack was a little higher than he'd anticipated, but that was no real problem - the air beneath him felt as solid as any stone he'd ever set foot upon in his life. Float.
[ 400 reached ]
Feet lifted, almost untraceable in their quickness, pressing against the suddenly stiffened body. Swinging himself to the left, he used the body as a springboard, forcing himself to flip backwards in a wide arc, doing a brilliant somersault in the air. His Spearshot was like a lethal spine, stretching outward from his currently curled form, looking as though it might readily plunge outward in to someone else. As his body moved, a small trail of sparkles were left in his wake, Regen, making him feel as though perhaps his stamina were neverending.
He came out from the aerial maneuver, while the other one was still loading his next arrow. No doubt, the initial charge would be a bit delayed by the fact that one of their targets was no longer in their visual spectrum, and as none of them had Berserk on them - that Asher could tell - they would at least be a little flabbergasted by the sudden disappearance of one of their marks. Behind Asher, the first marksman with the crossbow went down, body thudding noisily, as he 'landed', feet still almost a foot in the air. The Pyreflies that surrounded him were bolstering his every move, and he felt practically invincible - Shell, Protect - even as he moved on to his next target.
He shoved the butt end of his Spearshot forward, a reversed motion that would otherwise be impossible to pull of, had he not been quite literally floating in the air. The end result was a distinct disruption in the attempt to aim or fire the weapon with any length of accuracy - instead, it was now pointing away from either of the two friends that had come under such sudden assault. Asher dropped, ducking and diving in such a way that he would be almost directly underneath the crossbowsman, tail snaking out so as to snag a leg, while his hands worked with the sudden downward thrust. He used his hands to curl the rest of him, so that he sprung upward, foot driving in to the jaw of this target. As he rose, he felt a noticeable increase in his own strength, as well - which explained why he tugged the man's leg with only his tail.
He used the extra weight of the guy to spin in the air, releasing him in the direction of the leader, meant mostly as a distraction.
[ 800 words reached ]
Even in mid-spin, his body did not stay put long enough to be seen by the rest of the individuals - quite literally, as he teleported. He was once again in front of Alister, next to the rightmost man. The Leader would have to deal with the man who was now rocketing towards his face. The Pyreflies were almost too numerous to make visualizing anything an easy task. They reminded him, absently, from his newfound vantage, of that creature he'd fought in the very beginning of his time in Spira. They had grown from those lights...
Much to his surprise, and the surprise of everyone, no doubt, the Pyreflies he'd left behind - the ones that had come into existence near the archers, began to swirl and spiral and coalesce, drawing in to them a strange amount of light and activity. They firmed and formed, until they became a small little...
Water Flan. The creature looked not quite so angry, but certainly a little grumbly - it moved with purpose. It squished it's way towards the swordsmen, already glittering and glowing with magic.
The thing lifted itself quite comically from the ground, and made a sound not unlike a squealing pig - it unleashed a Water spell, the likes of which Asher had never seen. It squished, and returned to it's natural state, glowering as though that itself were enough of an attack to deal to the man. As luck had it, the Water spell smashed the one right in front of Asher, making Asher's job that much more easy - he bounded in the air... more in the air, considering his Float status.. and came back down on the guy's shoulders, adeptly avoiding any sword that might have been coming towards him from the side, and easily abusing the distraction and damage the water spell might have caused. One leg lifted, while the other turned, so that when the foot that was currently in the air came back, it was directly colliding with the guy's cheek.
Asher had to focus the momentum of the swing, so that when the man collided, he was flipping the rest of him as well. The target would have been thrown to the side, after such a vicious strike.
[ 1200 words reached - 3 down ]
At this point, he could only guess at how insane the whole situation must seem from an outsider's perspective - his lithe, agile figure bouncing between targets, striking out with such viciousness that was probably not seen by kids here in Spira. But his Genome body was more than capable of doing these massive feats of acrobatics. Asher had only a brief second, as he was upside down in the air, to wonder if he had startled the men enough to make them want to run away.
"Y'can still leave!" He called out, as he came down on the other side of the other man that had approached from the right, tail waving fast enough to leave an auric trail of energy behind him. As that guy came forward, Asher winked a little bit, spiraling backwards. The point of this maneuver was to keep that guy focused on him, while the boy tugged the trigger portion of his weapon down, locking it in to place.
Rifle Mode was not actually 'rifle' - it didn't lose it's blade. But it made firing it much more easy, and allowed him to focus on distance, rather than having to pull the trigger with only his melee strikes. The man's charge was easily evaded - in his currently Haste-filled state, he was able to not only see each swipe coming, but move just far enough to avoid it. Even as the blade did manage to knick his shoulder, as he had to focus an extra second on the switching of the weapon's mode, the wound hadn't hurt near as much as he'd anticipated. A side effect of the Protect effect on him - though, he himself was unaware of that.
His eyes narrowed, and he weaved back once more. This was all simple cat and mouse - the point was not to actually do anything with him other than to lead him further from the group, several steps worth.
Asher's body vanished, appearing a few feet in front of Alister, Spearshot moving defensively. He did not know how, exactly, Alister would fare, so he was trying his hardest to make sure Alister wouldn't have to deal with any of this. The shaft of his weapon caught two swords of one of the thugs who had speed.
[1600 words - 4 down ]
That wasn't his target, though. The barrel end of his weapon was facing the one who was at a distance. Finger moved to squeeze the trigger, and the gun would let out an angry bark, carrying with it a bullet that would not only let the rest of the men know what kind of weapon Asher was using, but take out the now-distant one. He had only to pull the trigger once, to expel the bullet, and it was with great satisfaction that the man he'd led off hit the ground with a thud. He smirked at the guy whom he was currently fending off, who had to be concerned by this point, with four of his friends taken out of the picture. He shifted his body forwards, thrusting his Spearshot so that the two blades would be forced to slide away from his hands, while the grip for the gun section was going to jam in to his attacker's face. There was a sharp crunching noise, and he just smirked at that. He tilted the weapon slightly, so that it would lock back in to 'melee' mode, even as he turned and smashed the butt end of his companion item in to the other guy's face.
With only two in-range combatants, he didn't even know whether or not he should worry - though his breath was already starting to get haggard. The 'Regen' power, while massively helpful, was not going to keep him going indefinitely. He used this quick opportunity, while either opponent was temporarily distracted by the wound, to make his next move. Dashing towards the one he'd forced away with his initial thrust, he weaved himself to the side, shoving his Spearshot's shaft in to the side of his knee. With a sickening, yet somehow appropriate crunch, he let the man go down. As he went, he forced the shaft upwards, doubling it in to a second blow to the man's face. He would be having problems with cognizance soon enough, but the fact was, that, at least temporarily, he was down.
Asher lifted the Spearshot up, and brought it down on the guy's head, directly over the bridge of his nose. One way or the other, he was out for the count, and Asher was certainly the one that was going to put him there.
[ 2000 words reached - 5 down ]
He didn't even hesitate, his figure moving in such a way as to make the other man wonder which direction he was coming from. To his surprise, there was another squishing sound from behind him, and a whip of ick-colored, ick-textured substance shot out from behind him, smashing the guy right in the gut. He would have to thank his cute little squickfriend once this was all over - the man was forced to double over, as anyone who had just been assaulted would. Asher took that opportunity to hop upwards, coming down on the back of the man's head. He bounced sharply, foot colliding with his skull. From his aerial position, Asher was able to peer downward, noting with some amount of happiness that the guy was currently munching on a large amount of dirt.
As he came down, he did so on the guy's spine, another distinct crack echoing out from his figure. Asher was at this point, more than certain of himself. This wasn't even a fair fight - he was a trained mercenary, and these schmucks were only highway robbers. While they might pose a threat to someone who knew nothing of fighting, they weren't even a challenge to this boy.
From his position, he turned, sharply, foot still digging in the back of him, until he dropped with as much force as he could, knee smashing in to the back of his head. Asher couldn't be worried - he wasn't the kind of guy that wanted to kill people, but he was also the kind of genome that would if he had to. Pushing himself off of the guy, he bounced a few steps back, now a foot or so away.
It was sheer luck - and the fact that the guy was probably edging ever so close to unconsciousness - that he saw the single sword swiping at him from below. He shot one foot forward, to catch his attacker's wrist, and then pressed hard, on to his knuckles, effectively disarming him. Other foot was used to kick the sword towards Alister, where he would have to deal with it.
It was strange - Asher felt much stronger than normal. Something had changed in him, at this point, that much he could tell. He tensed the muscles in his leg, and applied enough force to make the guy cry out. When he didn't Asher was certain he was out.
[ 2400 words - 6 down, Leader remaining ]
Chest heaved, as his eyes turned to the still-staring form of the 'Leader'. Asher knew only from the fact that he'd done nothing to help the situation that he was the one who gave orders, not took them.
He nodded his head slightly.
"I warned you! Now you've just got a bunch of dead or injured crewmates. I win!" He cheered, all too happy, considering what a horrible thing had just happened.
Taking a deep breath, he set himself up, so that he tensed - he could feel his heart thundering in his chest, and his lungs were literally burning. He was exerting himself a lot, and he didn't know how well he could keep going at this same pace. Still, he had to try, for Alister's sake. He didn't want the guy to get hit with another fireball or a knife, and get killed in the process of escorting Asher to Luca. Knuckles whitened as they grasped the shaft of his blade.
"You should have run! Nya-nyah, ready or not, here I come!" Despite the fact that he'd just killed and / or maimed at least six men in the breadth of less than half a minute, it was strange that he was still so cheerful and content. Or at least, seemed that way. He charged forward, reaching down to high-five his newfound 'slime buddy', as he passed by.
Asher threw himself forward, and lifted his Spearshot high above his head. As he tugged it downward, and the leader no doubt went for some kind of defense, he vanished from that spot all together, shifting back into existence on the other side of him in a flourish of light and Pyreflies.
He tugged himself around, and slashed forward, the business end of his weapon trailing sparks. He was intentionally cutting through the motorcycle as well - now he was certain that his strength was at least growing, or had grown. One way or the other, as he cut through it, the point was to also cut in to the man's leg, tugging the trigger of his Spearshot as he did so. He could practically feel the heat wafting from the machine, his blade, and his bullet tearing through the outsides of the machine, and no doubt this man's leg, as well.
To avoid any possible swipes at his body, and also to dislodge his weapon, Asher ducked low, and used the lowered center of gravity to give him a little bit of a bonus - he tugged backwards. This would accomplish three things. It would give him his weapon, it would disable the motorcycle, and it would throw it's rider off balance. As he tugged out, however, he also pulled the trigger, throwing additional shrapnel and damage in to both bike and rider.
His eyes were narrowed and his figure was tense, sweat wasn't beading his forehead any more. His whole body felt as though it were soaked outside, as if he himself had been hit with a spray from 'his' slime's Water spell. Speaking of which, as he rolled, the little fiend beasty squished it's body once more, opening it's mouth wide enough to cast another Water spell on this man. That, too, would have multiple benefits - Asher didn't think about the possibility of those sparks igniting the gasoline that powered the motor bike, and with the Water spell cooling the whole situation, and no doubt dampening the vehicle and it's operator, that wouldn't happen.
He pounced upwards, effectively back flipping twice to maintain an adequate amount of distance between the two of them. With out the semblance of fear or worry, he dropped to one knee - an amusing thing to see, considering he was no longer earthbound - and aimed.
Winking at the leader, he fired one bullet, meant to at least impale the guy's shoulder, and throw him off the vehicle. Accomplishing such a feat would have Asher bounding back towards it, rushing full tilt, until he was only a few feet from the transport. Had Asher ever even heard of a drop kick? He couldn't remember, but he was definitely giving a nice little drop kick to the seat. He wanted the bike to fall over with enough force to catch the fallen man by the legs. Even with Asher's suddenly enhanced strength, he knew that such a machine would be heavy as hell, and certainly the kind of thing that might just inhibit movement, casting, or any of those nifty things.
He followed through with the motion, though - which all but forced his own body vertical once more. Momentum dictated he kept going, though. He did - what came naturally, body curling in to a ball once more. As he landed on the other side, practically sproing-ing as he did so, he curled his figure to make sure he was looking back at him. Brows furrowed, and he let magic pool in to his fingertips.
"SLOW!" He called, though it seemed less than necessary. The magic would unleash, casting a violet-blue hue from his fingertips, which made him smile a little bit. Having met Belzera, the color reminded him of his demon-friend's hair. Though, the fact that he was making such connections meant he himself was faltering just a little bit, mentally.
The blue light suffused his target, and even as he had to pull himself from his own motorcycle's trap, he would have to do it with his body rebelling. To everyone around him, it would seem as though his figure was moving in slow-motion, though not so slow as to be a 'frame-by-frame' clip. Asher's shoulders hurt, and his chest was practically flying outward with expansion - he didn't even know how to - or why he - was fighting so hard. It wasn't as though Alister was of any particular consequence to him or his mission. In fact, he remembered distinctly disliking him because he had been so weak against such a simple fiend.
But the point was moot. He was moving now, working as hard as he could.
His heart was thundering, now, and he was almost afraid it might come up and play leap frog right past his tonsils! His fingers moved swiftly and deftly along the shaft, as he started spinning his Spearshot. The motion was slow at first ( or at least, slow by the 'Haste' standards ) but ultimately, began to pick up the pace, the light from a hundred Pyreflies surrounding his body once more. He couldn't keep going at this rate - in fact, he planned to make sure he didn't have to.
Alister was about to get a show.
As the whirling blade began to pick up speed, his right hand moved closer and closer to the trigger, until only one hand was even remotely near the center. The other had been removed all together, and now the weapon was simply moving in the grasp of one.
He charged.
His body was once more a blur of motion and grace, his feet carrying him in an almost wide arc. He had to approach from an angle the other man would have a difficult time defending from, and yet from a vantage that would make the most damage. His target, would have to be the neck. He remembered Belzera mentioning something about a decapitation - or perhaps he was just imagining that. Nevertheless, that errant thought made his action - and target - perfectly clear.
He came close, ever forward, feet pressing against invisible - yet firm - air, and he, with all of his swirling prowess would drive his blade forward, in an ever-lowering, lethal, circular blur of steel and red. His eyes narrowed on the man, who had just begun to take notice of him. Sound built in his throat, not unlike a growl.
Something was wrong. In the back of his mind, the Asher who was a cheerful, bouncy child, seemed almost confused - like he was watching his own body doing precisely what was necessary, but what Asher might never have the courage to do on his own. Still, there was nothing that could be done - or that wanted to be done. A shattered memory - an image of a man - filtered itself up, practically reflected in his mind's eye on the blade's edge.
The weapon swung down, as he himself leaped upwards. In a flurry of light and death, the blade would come crashing right through the man's throat. The problem wasn't, however, that he'd just cut the man's throat. No, the problem was that he'd hesitated! Asher's eyes looked a tad bit confused as he came down on the other side. Jumping seemed foolish in a move that was meant to bring off the man's head. But alas, it was effective.
Unless, of course, the man was packing a cure spell or potion of some form. No, he had to do this right. As much as he didn't think it was proper, as much as it might even be a bit appalling, it was the sort of thing he was trained to do, regardless of how disgusting it might be.
His figure twisted and turned in the air, as he turned again to charge at the man. This time, however, the approach was more steady. Again, it all started in a slow spiral around his hands, ending in one existing in the center, grasping the grip of the gun part as he spun it. As he reached the 'Leader', Asher shook his head.
"See, y'should've just played hide and seek. Or Tag! That would have at least meant you got to make it out of here alive. But y'see, the guy back there'd probably get killed by ya, so I couldn't let you hurt him. It just wouldn't be very friendly, now would it?" He said, and once again, Asher was back in 'control'. He smiled down at him, though it was a sad smile, not the kind of manic, almost evil smile one might expect from someone about to murder another.
One foot flashed out, kicking the reddened hand away from his throat with vicious strength. He knew that this guy had to have done this before. One didn't get a whole group of men to follow you unless you were good at what you did. That meant that he'd taken from - and probably killed - men, women, and children. It meant that unfortunately, Asher was going to have to put a stop to it. The other hand, currently occupied in getting the motorcycle from his trapped figure, was also given a kick, so that the progress with the vehicle was hindered, as well.
It came down once more with a sharp thud, which might even make the guy cry out or at least lose his breath.
But no more than what his last move did.
Lifting the spinning blade high above his head, he shrugged.
"You're it." He murmured, as he brought the blade down, in one final swipe. That, perhaps, was not the most terrifying part of the whole scenario - no, as the blade came sliding down, the hand that was desperately clinging to the center, the grip, shifted just a little. Finger would slide into the trigger guard like an expert's might, and as the blade would make one more terrible passing through the man's throat, he would squeeze it.
There was an eruption of sound, and fire, and red. All of these things were hideous, but they were effective - the man not only lost his head, but there was no way someone could Phoenix Down him. Even a Moogle would be hard pressed to save the corpse, now that it had been well and thoroughly eviscerated.

He turned his head a little bit, wishing he hadn't gotten all the red on his green.
Cheerful smile back to Alister, had him moving towards the other guy.
"Told'ja I'm all trained and stuff!" He spoke gently, voice barely above a whisper. As he reached Alister, he all but collapsed, body still managing to hang in the air, as he rested, weapon released next to him.

The sound of motorcycles roared around Alister and Asher. What was going on Alister thought to himself. As he notice bandits trying to approach them. He heard the voice of the bandit's leader and wanted to send and arrow through his head but Asher told Alister to step aside and let him deal with the problem. Rolling his eyes he had no intentions of not fighting but Asher went so fast that Alister couldn't even react fast enough to pull out his bow from the distance to shoot.
What made Alister mad was the comment about him being nearly killed if he would have fought. There Asher goes again with the comment where Alister just plain sucks at fighting. Yoaning he watched the fight go on and minutes it was over. He was impressed though with the teleporting around and his aecrobacks in the air. Alister smiled as he lifted his arms and started to clap for the small monkey boy, but as soon as Asher came toward him the boy just collapsed. Alister sprinted with enough speed to catch the hyper monkey boy. The weapon hit the ground seconds after Alister reached Asher. "And that is why you let me help so you don't waste all your damn energy. I could have helped a ton tooken out the crossbow bandits...but nooo you had to be your monkey self and impress everyone with your fighting. Hmmm should i even heal you Asher.... Alister spoke and began to ramble about how Asher acted. But Asher did save Alister from not getting killed by the group of bandits so he nodded to himself and placed his hand on the chest of Asher. A light sensation came flowing from the veins of Alister's as he began to used the magic spell cure onto Asher. "Wake up Asher so we can get you on to Luca so you can rest! Alister spoke as he lifted the monkey boy over his shoulders, making sure to bend his knees. With his foot he lifted up the speargun and tossed it in the air while Alister caught it with his right hand.
Alister moved on the ground walking toward a running working motorcycle and placed Asher on the back of the seat. Placing himself on the seat of the motorcycle he saw an open space so he placed the speargun inside the slot. Moving his feet onto the gas peddle he pointed his feet and the motorcycle began to take off with full speed. Totally forgeting that Asher was on the back, his body fell off the motorcycle and landed on the ground. Alister laughed out loud, "Ok, were even know! Alister moved the driving handle in a circle turning the motorcycle around and headed toward Asher. Stepping out of the motorcycle Alister picked up Asher and placed him back where he was at and made sure he wasn't going to do that mistake again. Alister jumped back onto the motorcycle and took off very slowly going maybe 5 miles to 10 miles per hour.
