Breaking free of the forest, a light growl escaping her as her pupiless eyes scanned the region. The scents were different, some of the sounds the same, still others different as well. She stood looking out over a village seemingly floating on the water. She'd kneel, slowly down to poke the water before lifting her finger to her lips parting them and licking the liquid. Seeing if it was safe. Her mind was confused though wondering why she'd been sent here. To this... realm, more so with the lack of her previous abilities most of which were innate, Natural to her. Standing again, she'd smooth out her clothing, moving along the tree line to one of the wooden paths over the water. pressing bare feet to each board testing them even as she saw the movement of others. Her ears twitched as she look out at the, trying to judge weather or not the People here were a threat or not as she made her way over the paths. Her tails twitching lightly as she seemed to be drawing attention, seeing people whispering to others, She'd glance to them when they did. Still wandering as she peered at the buildings also over the water. Sniffing the air. She wondered why she got such looks though, looks like she was a monster from quiet a few, others as if she was going to attack right there and then, such looks making her nervous as she'd walk quicker. Simply exploring, Hoping maybe somone could help her out eventually in figruing out why she was here or where here, even was..
(i hope you don't mind me jumping in with this randomness, lol)
As Rena walked along and people kept staring at her and whispering the calm was broken by a series of loud crashes, and he sounds of things breaking. The towns people's attention was diverted from the new comer as they started to stare at a small house. There was a sudden silence as more people started to gather in the area around the small house and started whispered to each other as they tried to imagine what was going on inside of the house.
Across the street in front of another house sat a name at a stand where he was selling fish. When the sounds suddenly stopped he went to get out of his seat and open his mouth as his eyes started darting around. However, he caught himself and sat back down hoping no one saw him move. The silence was broken again by a sudden crashing sound like someone was breaking glass and wood. Then moment later there was even more sounds of stuff breaking. Then once again there was pure silence. The man sitting at the stand started to twitch a little, almost like he was expecting something.
The silence was broken as door of the house flew off it's hinges and out into the street. It was almost impossible to see into the house, even through the now open door. The house was pitch black inside and it seemed void of movement and sound. Then a moment later a body flying out of the open door out of the pure darkness, almost like it was coming from nowhere. The body landed a few feet into the street and rolled into a limp heap. The body didn't move at all as it laid there limply. The man at the stands eye grew wide as he saw the body limply fly out into the street. It looked like he was about to get up but stopped in mid attempt to get up as his eyes widened even more by what he saw.
From the depths of the darkness of the house walked a young man. He walked out of the house through the now door less frame. He took a few steps out of the house into the street before he stopped dead in his tracks and took a look around. He seemed perfectly fine and it would be obvious that he had been the one that threw the limp body from the house, and by the look of the limp man's body it would also be obvious that he had been the one breaking things, and most likely using the limp man as his tool to do so.
As the young man looked around it was obvious he hadn't expected to make that much noise and looked kind of shocked at the number of people standing around the house looking at him, but he also looked mildly amused. The young man took his eyes from the crowd around him to look at the limp body only a few feet in front of him on the ground and slowly a smirk emerged . He then suddenly looked up from the limp man's body to look straight at the man behind the stand with the fish. The young man then quickly made his way over to the stand and stood in front of it as he stared the man down. The man behind the stand started to twitch a little and his eyes darted from side to side looking around as if he was begging for someone to help him. Then suddenly the man stood up and swung his arm behind his back and from under his shirt he started to pull a gun.
However, with a speed that almost seemed inhuman the young man's hand shot up and behind him and grabbed the hilt of the large blade on his back, and with the same speed pulled it off his back and swung it forward at the man. The young man's blade came to a stop with the edge of the tip at the other man's throat. The man stopped moving and he slowly opened his hand and dropped the gun and then slowly brought both hand up in the air obviously surrendering. The man then opened his mouth and went to speak but he was cut off by the young man as he spoke up first.
"Don't waste your breath you Shinra spy. Now listen to me... i am tired of this game, i really am... go back and tell Hojo, and that damn president of yours that they wont get me, and they have been trying for this long, and i assure them, that they will still be trying in that many years from now.... now get the hell out of my face"
The young man seemed like he meant what he was saying and a certain commanding presence was obvious in his voice. The man behind the stand just sneered at him as he spoke up
"you cant run forever Wolfe, Hojo will ge..."
He was cut off as Wolfe moved his hand slightly and pressed the tip of his sword harder against the man's throat and a few droplets of blood trickled down his neck. Wolfe then spoke again.
"shut up, i have heard this all before, now get hell out of my face before i just end your sad excuse for a life, you worthless Shinra dog"
The man just sneered at Wolfe again before he slowly stepped away. Wolfe didn't move as it was obvious that he was going to let this guy go. The man started to quickly make his way away from Wolfe but stopped as Wolfe called out.
"OHHH and take this worthless piece of trash with you"
As he spoke Wolfe turned and leaned down and grabbed the limp man's body by his shoulder and lifted him up with one hand and just tossed the body at the other man. The body hit the man and knocked him to the ground. The man just hissed at Wolfe as he got back up and grabbed the limp man's body and slung it over his shoulder and started to run off past the group of people heading for the edge of town.
Wolfe just stood there for a second before he slowly reached his hand back and placed the sword back into it's holster on his back. He then turned and started down the street. The people who had gathered quickly spread apart and made a path for him as he moved past them and then turned and made his way towards a door on a building just a few buildings away from where he had been standing and walked into the building. By the sign outside of the door it was obvious that it was a bar. Wolfe disappeared into the building.
She watched the commotion. pupile-less eyes watching what everyone else had been, the hut being rearranged in a particularily destructive manner. As well as when the taller came after another man. Her ears twitched softly, listening to the goings on, studying the two as well as looking to the limp body of another. Seeing the defeat, she sniffed the air. The smell of blood from the small pierce by the blade before the man was fully defeated as it seemed... She exhaled, attention having been pulled away from herself she'd move again, heading in the direction the one names Wolfe.. had gone, More new scents assaulting her as she'd wince a little. She moved slowly, softly, staying as silent as possible, reaching the bar she pushed inside. Stepping just out of the way as her eyes adjusted to the dimmer lighting. Looking around her eyes scanning each of the beings inside. weather to size them up or search through them her eyes would fall on the one she'd heard called Wolfe again. Pushing past a few people, quite a few stepping out of her way as if she were infected with something. Moving carefully she came upon him. Letting out a heavy sigh before opening her mouth to speak.
Ah.. Hello... Wolfe.. was it? You seem.. to know about this place well..
Her voice calm, if not a bit hesitant, staying ready for an attack just in case she was mistaken. She stayed behind him though, tails giving a twitch as she watched. Her reference to knowing the place being the world she'd been set in. She was curious also as to what this .. Shinra.. was and or why they or it, was after him....
Wolfe had made his way into the bar and took a seat at a small table a little bit closer to the corner and as soon as the waitress came over he had ordered a drink. By the time Rena had made her way inside the waitress had brought Wolfe his drink and made her way from his table. He hadn't wanted to make a big scene but its not like there had really been another way, but then again that wasn't entirely true. He had enjoyed beating the all living hell out of the one Shinra dog, and somewhere deep inside of him he had found some amusement in what had occurred.
Wolfe took a sip of his drink as he thought about it. He had gotten some information from the first guy when he had been beating the crap out of him. He could have killed both them without breaking a sweat, but he figured they would get far worse when they showed back up in Midgar empty handed. From what he had caught from the first guy, they had gone AWOL in an attempt to impress their superiors they had come to try ad capture Wolfe and bring him back. So they were going to get it twice over when they got back. Not only had they gone AWOL, but they had also failed, and worst off they had been in foreign territory when they had tried.
Shinra had just gotten out of a war with Galbadia and had come out as a draw. Shinra and it's Soldier had been considered the strongest military force in Gaia. However, this had been a big blow to Shinra, not only in pride but in sheer forces as well. They were not in a condition for another war yet, and having Soldiers starting issues in foreign lands was not the way to prevent a war.
As Wolfe was thinking this over he had continued to sip at his drink and had kind of lost track of the world around him. So when the cat like girl called his name he kind of got shocked back into the real world. He slowly turned his head a little to catch a glimpse of the person who had called out his name. He had to take a double take at first. He had been around but he had never seen anything like this girl before in his life. If he had to put simply she looked like a "cat girl" with ears and multiple tails. He was a little speechless at first. He thought about it for a second as he scanned through the incident just minutes ago, and thought about when he had looked around at the crowd. He then remembered catching a glimpse of her, but she was standing nearer to the back and there had obviously been some people that had semi covered her, cause he hadn't caught the tails. Plus his mind had been racing so he hadn't taken much attention to her as he had scanned the crowd.
However, here and now he wasn't 100% sure what to make of her. Wolfe could hear in the depth of her voice a certain hesitation, and saw as her tails twitched a little. Obviously she wasn't there to fight, and she did look very out of place. Plus her statement came across as someone who wanted information. Wolfe, however, didn't mind at all, she was cute, even with the fox like ears and tails. Wolfe brought his hand out in a none threating gesture and motioned for her to take a seat at the table across from him. Wolfe was a sucker for a cute girl, so he really couldn't turn her away, even if he wanted to.
He waited till she had taken a seat and waved over the waitress. When she arrived at the table Wolfe motioned to Rena so the waitress would take her order for a drink. When the waitress had walked away to get Rena her drink Wolfe finally spoke.
"Well, yes i have been around, and a know a little bit about this place and that.... why do you ask? and while we are at it, what is your name? since i think it is a little unfair you know my name but i don't know a cutie's like your's."
Wolfe couldn't help it as the words just slipped out of his mouth. It was in his nature to flirt and hit on women, its what he did best. Maybe even better then fighting. Wolfe just agave a quick smirk and then took another sip of drink as he waited for her answer.
She watched the waitress take his order, wandering off to bring his drink moments later, She watched the whole time, Soon enough seeing him take notice of her after she'd spoken. Another twitch of her tails as she looked to the seat he'd offered, moving to sit across from him She ordered just a simple glass of water. Her ears twitching, her tails curling about her some she'd watch him a moment, Sipping her water as it was brought to her ..
My name is Rena... I know yours from those beings from before..
Her eyes looked away from him, studying others in the bar that seemed to still be watching her as she let out a soft sigh, looking back to him once more as she lay her ears back. Reaching a hand up to brush a bit of hair from her eyes.
I.. would like information about this place.. where were currently.. located also as to what was with those people
She took on a bit more of a serious tone, Studying him now. How he spoke and was sitting, his clothing and his movements as one of her ears perked up, twitching, as she picked up on a group of men talking about her, something about how much she'd fetch. She wasn't to sure on what they were after with her.. her eyes, Pupile-less looked to him again.
If I must get information by force.. when I shall do so under the condition that might be how things work about this place..
Already she'd figured the men from before must have been after information and that was the way to go about getting it, Moreso from somone who could defend themselves, o may only believe in giving information under such devious circumstances..
Wolfe watched as she ordered water. Wolfe wasn't 100% sure what to make of that, but he was pretty easy going when he wasn't dealing with Shinra, so he didn't pay too much attention to it. He caught as her ears kept twitching which made Wolfe realize either she was nervous, out of her element or maybe even both. As Wolfe thought about it, he had been around and seen alot, and heard about even more, but in all his time he had never heard or came across someone like her, so he could see how she could easily be both.
Wolfe took note of her name as she said it and smirked a little when she mentioned about overhearing it obviously from when the Shinra dog had said it. He hadn't intended on making such a scene, but he was getting really good at it. Every time he went somewhere to get anything done, even things that were meant to be low profile he always ended up making a big scene. Wolfe figured it was just bad luck, but then again maybe it was just him. In truth chaos did follow him everywhere he went, but he had just learned to tune it out and just expect it.
Wolfe was a little thrown off at first by her question about information about the area. At first he thought maybe she was asking about the specific town they were in, but then he realized as she asked about the men from outside that it wasn't that simple. Something in the way she said it, and how seemed to come across as if she meant a bit more then just the town, or even about Spira, almost like she meant on a bigger scale.
Wolfe just tilted his back a little and gave her a look of intrigue as she continued to look at him. It was at this time he finally really took notice of her pupil less eyes. Normally most people would be thrown off by this, or even scared, but Wolfe really had been around and seen alot in his years, and not to mention his eyes glowed a eerie blue color so he couldn't really say much. He caught as one of her ears perked up and could tell she was catching on to something around them, but Wolfe wasn't sure what, so he wasn't that concerned at the moment.
Wolfe was about to answer her when she made her final comment about getting information by force. Wolfe tired to keep a straight face, but then broke out into laughter
"HAHAHahahaha..."
He brought his hand up to his chest as he was catching his breath, and after a few seconds just gave her a grin as he started talking.
"whoa, whoa there cutie, no need for all that, hahaha, no, thats not how things are normally done. If you want some rough time i will be more then happy to show you a little bit later"
He gave her a quick wink before he continued.
"but no, i will be more then happy to explain... but... first i have a question that i am pretty sure i know the answer to.... i am going to assume you are not from here... and when i say here i mean HERE....am i right?... you know on second thought, i do know the answer is yes, so let me just explain this to you."
Wolfe took a deep breath and let out a sigh as he then took a sip of his drink and then began on explaining things.
"First off, this is a small town in the Spira continent. As for this place... since i am assuming from your expressions and questions that you don't know anything about what i am explaining i shall give you the whole picture. This is Gaia... the world we live in, now i hope you knew that. Now this is the Spira Continent, one of many including the Galbadia, Midgar, Alexandria, Balamb, amoungst others. and as i said we are currently in Spira... i hope that answered your first question... as for your second question about those men... They were Shinra spies that were here after me, but they are of no concern anymore."
Wolfe took another sip of his drink as he looked her up and down one quick time. He was trying to put the pieces together in his head but kept coming up short. Something about her kept throwing him off and he couldn't for the life of him gauge what it was. Hopefully it would show itself when she spoke again.
He tilted his head a little bit, from his vantage at the end of the bar. There were all sorts of things that were wrong about this situation. The big lug was the one that caused all the commotion outside - he'd stepped in here just a few seconds before he had. Specifically because he didn't like the idea of soldiers playing around, regardless of what continent he as on.
That was why he had a problem, actually, with this guy sitting so close to him. If he had all that unwanted attention, those guys might just come back. With more people in tow. Potentially people from Esthar, too. Which meant eventually, word of his location might leak back.
Still, this whole circumstance had potential. Turning slightly in his stool, he leaned against the bar.
"Who needs force, when you have cards?" He asked, curiously, a little bit of a grin touching his face. He could always profit from certain things. The stupidity of soldiers was one of them. If he could - he'd profit quite a lot this time.
He tugged out a deck of cards, and with deft and amazing fingers, even within the gauntlets that he wore, began to shuffle it. "A game of Triple Triad, I think, would make this whole situation better.
If you don't know how to play, I can walk you through it. For now, we'll keep it simple. I'll give you both five cards." Needless to say, there was a little grin on his face, at this point. From another pocket, he produced a little 3x3 grid, that would serve as an easy playmat. "Each card has four sides. One number per side. The higher number takes the lower number, making it so you 'capture' the card. The Ace beats all, as always - and when all nine spaces are filled, the person with the most captured cards wins."
His fingers were more than dexterous - they were practiced. He could stack a deck like a pro. He wasn't a gambler.
"I have a bit of a problem. I need some help with a couple of guys that have been following me around lately. So, I think, for every card she wins, you'll have to agree to help me out, for a little while... and she gets any information she wants. For every card you win... well, you can count your drinks on me for every capture. And, perhaps, a favour - I'll get rid of the one you missed."
Knowing eyes watched Wolfe and this woman, nose twitching once or twice as he tried to see what it was she was being attentive to. "You Lucavi are all about strength and conquest - this is just another form of that. You should get it relatively easily, yes?"
The amusing part was that she couldn't possibly lose. Out of the deck of sixty cards, he had a large field of amazing... and distinctly not so amazing cards.
He began to set out five cards, in opposing piles. One and one, one and one, so on and so forth. Shifting the remaining cards back in to his coat, he rose, taking either hand in his own, and carefully shifting to standing between the two of them. Five cards, face down in front of each of them.
Tilting his head a little bit. "What's the worst that could happen? Besides. A game is always fun."
In her hand, she would have Shiva, Ifrit, Carbuncle, Zell, and Squall.
In his, he would have Bite Bug, Buel, Red Bat, Geezard, and Fungaur.
Needless to say? She was going to win, regardless of what cards he played. "Of course, you can decline, if you want. But then we've got a fight on our hands from her, and the guy you missed is going to get reinforcements and come back en masse. Heads, you go first, Wolfe. Tails, you go first, miss."
He flipped a single Gil piece, letting the coin fall back into his outstretched hand. The metal of the gauntlet clanged slightly as the Gil was caught. He slammed his hand against the table, lifting his hand.
Heads.
"And as a show of good faith?" He lifted a hand to the waitress, waving her over. "Miss, might we have a full round of drinks? Whatever he's drinking, bring one for each of us. Please and thank you." A soft, almost seductive smile touched his lips as he looked to her, and he could see the color rising to her face as she rushed off to get them their drinks.
"Feel free to begin. Ah, and my name is Layne, from the continent of Esthar."

( More or less, the game is meant to be rigged in her favour. No matter what cards Wolfe plays, she'll be able to take them with any card, in any position. xD Have fun. One card per post, so she can have the opportunity to ask a question. )
Letting out a sigh she listened to him, taking in his words, wondering why he was winking at her though as well wondering why he kept calling her cutie.. She kept one ear perked listening to him, the other twitching, swiveling around at the others about them, listening to each of there conversations and like.
I see... i'm not from this existance though... forgive me for not.. knowing any of what you speak of really, I do understand this continent is Spira though.. and th planet is known as gaia...
cut off though as somone else spoke up and interjected themselves into the conversation, she'd turn her head. Looking to see whom was speaking, tails giving a soft twitch around herself, She'd look him over, her eyes studying the new speaker. Ears twitching once more as he went on about cards, there use, names and such but not really caring much, it wasn't that she couldn't be intrested, but such things were the furthest from her mind at the moment as She perked up at being called a Lucavi.
Hold...! whatever this Word Lucavi means, Explain... As for you card game i'm not interested in such things.. they do not hold to what I need let alone help me since it seems more like your making a jest of the information i'm already getting, at no cost whatsoever from this Man here ..
Pointed to Wolfe as she still looked at the man and began gathering his cards back up, holding them to him.
You seem to be assuming such strangeness with the little paper items as it is and your game regardless is worked out so that no mater what, you yourself gain the use of Wolfe whom can speak for himself as much as I myself can.. What is it you really want under such a devious Nature!
Giving a soft growl that would reverberate the air around her just a second as she stared at the man, whom had called himself Layne..

Wolfe listened as she explained that his assumption was right and she was really not from this world as she put it. It sparked his interest but as he thought over it for a second. He gave her one more quick look over before he went to speak, but eh was cut off by the man who just jumped into their conversation. Wolfe gaze lingered on her for a second before he turned his head to look at the man who was now speaking. He listened as he sent on and on, and then watched as he pulled out a deck of cards for Triple Triad.
Wolfe didn't move or react in any way as he watched the man continue on and then pass out the cards. He just watched the man continue by giving a basic explanation of how the game was played. Wolfe's gaze turned from the man to look at Rena. It was almost instantly obvious that this wasn't catching with her, and didn't seem to interest her at all. Wolfe had figured as much. It was obvious to Wolfe that her most pressing concern was information. He watched as she put all his cards together and went to hand them to the man who had given his name as Layne.
Before Layne could take the cards from Rena Wolfe reached out his hand and took the deck of cards from Rena's hand. He then leaned back in his seat a little as he looked at Rena first and spoke
"its ok cutie, he is just a quick talker, and is just trying to be smooth. Thats how some people around here work. They speak to you quickly and in a manner so you just don't know what to say and go along with them, and they get what they want out of you. This one here seems to want something from me..."
Wolfe then turned to the Layne and spoke directly to him now
"you better watch yourself there smooth talker. I don't think she is game for your particular brand of smooth talking. However, she does have a point, if you have something to ask of me, then just do so, i am not one for games. ...but... lets just see how this would have faired out..."
With his last word Wolfe placed the deck in his land hand and held it up. He then very quickly ran his right hand over the top of the deck and snatched up the top 5 cards. All the while he was doing this he had a smirk on his face, and his eyes never left Layne's. Wolfe then held his hand about a foot above the table.
"well, lets just see how i would have fended..."
Wolfe flipped his hand in a quick motion and let go of the cards causing them to land face up and spread apart on the table in front of him. Wolfe finally broke eye contact with Layne to look down at the cards to see what his hand would have been.
"ohh i see a trend here.. it seems i would have just had a horrible hand... there is no way i could have beaten..."
Wolfe once again moved his hand quickly over the top of the deck and once again snatched up 5 cards in the blink of an eye. He once again made the same motions as he held out his hand above the table and then twisted it letting the cards land on the table face up. He looked down at the cards for a second before looking back up at Layne's face and making eye contact again and in an obviously sarcastic voice.
"..a hand like this....ohhh my... look at the trend here... wow Rena, you would have beaten me without a doubt...you must have alot of beginners luck"
Wolfe slowly placed the rest of the deck on the table before a smirk slowly crept onto his face and he spoke again.
"Smooth... i didn't even see you do it... but.. next time i might suggest coming off a little weaker before just dealing cards out.... ohhh and think of a better deal, that one was obviously not right, and it would be obvious you rigged it. ohhh and on the note of the third guy, if you mean they guy who has been hiding in the corner.. which i think he would the one you were talking about... if there even is a 3rd guy... i am not worried about him or the en mass of them... there wont be anymore.. i assure you. and they were here for me, and no one else, and even if Shinra was dumb enough to send more i would be long gone, and there is no way they would start something in a foreign territory at this point..."
Wolfe turned and looked at Rena.
"Now if you have any other questions please ask away cutie.."
He then turned back to look at Layne.
"and if you want something just ask... if you assume i am some Shinra dog cause of my eyes then you are very wrong. Nor am i dumb soldier type. I will do just about anything.. if the price is right."
Wolfe then smirked as he took another sip of his drink.
*Draco was in his usual spot when it came to bars. He was in a corner, standing, half way leaning on a wall, looking as hard core as possible, hoping to get a job, because as Draco commonly found himself he was broke. Nowadays Draco hardly was ever in his full human form, so he had his normal disguise of his coat, and shirt with the collar propped up to cover the lower portion of his face. He also had his bandanna on, so the only way people could tell of his different nature, was if they would come up close and look him in the eyes, to see they were a dark red color, similar to that of blood.
It was a very unpromising day as he stood in this not so populated bar, in from what Draco could tell, a not very busy city. Draco was about to leave when he heard scuffling, and loud banging noises. Now most people would go to the scene, but Draco knew where all such fights ended, in the bar. So he sat there waiting, until finally a man came in, and got Draco's hopes up when he sat fairly close to his standing point. The man smelt of fresh blood, but didn't seem to be bleeding. The man was close followed by a girl, this man seemed to be the victor so wouldn't be needing any mercenary help. Then again weirder jobs had come to him, so he listened in on their conversation.
Draco fastly became disinterested in this Wolfe, although the fact that he was fighting a foreign army did perk up some curiosity in him, it was the girl that really caught his attention. She seemed to be new, and by the way she acted to this card dealer, not used to the ways of bar and or city peoples. This Draco could relate when he first visited the outside world. So the girl took interest in Draco's eye.
Draco was really bored with the conversation as it dragged on. Then suddenly the girl Rena began to rant something about the word Lucavi. Draco was disheartened when it seemed she was not, just kept being mistaken for one. And as a finally kick in his hope's gut he found out the first man Wolfe, the man he was hoping to get some money from, was in fact a merc too.
Draco decided to answer her soft growl with one of his own. H eyed the girl as the noise leaped from his mouth. He made it loud enough to know she would hear it, but not enough to disrupt the whole bar. He then addressed her in a calm, but strong manner.*
"You should watch what you do around here people don't react kindly to those not like them. As for the company you have chosen, I wouldn't put much trust in them, then again you have no reason to trust me either, but I have been in your situation before, and I would be much kinder than one who is a slave, and partner to money..."*Draco nodded his head in the direction of Wolfe.*
"...and as for the gambler well he may be honest, or he may just play, I wouldn't know since I am not one. Now you don't have to trust me, but this is just advice from one lost person to another everyone here wears masks."
*Draco decided as a sign of truth leaned in close to the bunch and had his eyes hit the light just right so they could see the unnatural red irises and instead of the normal white, his eyes were black.*
He tilted his head ever so slightly, eyes narrowing on her. She was denying him - but that was to be expected. The Lucavi rarely enjoyed the ideas of the humans being particularly relevant. Still, that didn't mean much to him. His smile didn't falter, as she spoke to him, making her demands known.
"Tell me: Why should I answer your questions about the Lucavi? The knowledge I have is secret to my old Monastery. Old, as in, I don't play monk any more. I know full and well the price of information in this world, as you seem to neglect to understand. Everything you do and gain has a price. That's why it's much more fun to make a game out of it."
He took a step back, shrugging his shoulders gently. "I understand that you might not get it - a Lucavi's first transition..." He grinned, but made a motion as to zip his lips shut. It was true - the spiritualists in Esthar knew precisely how to deal with the Lucavi. It was why he was able to speak to her with such impunity, a lack of fear that most people couldn't afford.
Crossing his arms over his chest, as he peeked between the two of them. "I've already offered two things. Monetary compensation and assistance with his problems should he win the game. Information for you, should you win. It's all about earning what you get. Conquest. It's fun, especially since there are legitimate stakes."
He slipped a few steps back. "Of course, I might be one of the very many people that doesn't really believe in handing something to someone for free. That's not the world we live in, Spira, Midgar, or even Esthar."
Still, his game was found out - Wolfe was perceptive enough to figure out that the game wouldn't have ended particularly well for him. "Regardless - I would have thought a mercenary were all about profit. Since mercs usually don't typically give goods - or services - for free." He yawned, and brought a gauntlet up to run through his hair. "As for my kind of game? Well... hey. Isn't it better to play a game you'll win? And trust me when I say, a Lucavi is the least of my worries. I've dealt with them on numerous occasions. Though, it would seem she's not as interested in conquest as her brothers in arms. I was more or less banking on her desire for both answers, and to demonstrate her superiority."
It was at that point, he shrugged. As it turned out, Wolfe had known about the 'sleeper', which, too, was kind of a problem for him- after all, it meant he'd misread both of them, to an extent. Still. He could see now that she was too new, too disoriented. He was better at his profession than Layne had originally given him credit for, but he was one of those weird, 'happy go lucky' mercenaries. who always had to do the right thing, else their conscience went all wonky.
Supposedly, as an ex-monk, he was supposed to do the right thing all the time.
He finally, however, allowed himself to glance towards the other Lucavi. This had been his other hope - he hadn't wanted him to overhear it. He could smell a Lucavi from a mile off - spiritually, of course - and knew that if he hopped in, it might things a little more awkward for him.
"You've got me wrong. I'm not a gambler, my friend." His grin widened a little. "And you're not giving yourself enough credit. I'm sure you've always done everything for free, never taking what you need from anyone. Right? His voice was practically dripping with sarcasm. As the waitress brought them their drinks, he smiled at her once more.
"Thank you, miss. I hate to trouble you again, but could you please add one more for our new addition?" He asked, tipping his head a little bit to her. It seemed the crowd was turning on him - the Soul manipulator in him was starting to feel a bit antsy. He wasn't on terrible terms with some Lucavi, but he knew better than to think none of them had a problem with his kind.
He reached out, and plucked the cards back up, ruffling them expertly. "We all play games with each other. I'm just a bit more straightforward about it."
*Draco looked towards this man, he was more than a simpler gambler, or a bar patron for that matter. He would deal with this being, but he had something to take care of first. He tapped the waitress, and addressed her with a light voice, and well mannered.*
"Could you just get some water please?"
*When she turned away Draco faced this man, he was too knowledgeable to just be as simple as he seemed, but Draco couldn't sense anything in particular that was special about him. This along with the fact the man knew he was there. Draco could tell by his response, it was like to the man Draco had been in the conversation the whole time. So Draco rethought his tactics, for now more than ever he was sure he didn't want the girl with this man, especially since she was of his own species.*
*First Draco explained the water.*"Alcohol has some bad affects on me."
*Draco then continued to answer the man's sarcasm* "True I am not a completely selfless being, but at least I am direct about what I am, or my intentions. I don't manipulate people do to my will. I rely on myself. And I don't play
*Draco decided to finally take a seat as he tried to decipher the nature of this being.*
"So you seem to be much more than you appear, care to explain your intentions or our we going to keep playing games?"
((Sorry for the short post but something came up)) Wc:250 Exp:25
Listening to Wolfe and Layne go back and forth before she was addressed again, ears twitching as she caught the growl easily. She looked to where it came from, letting out a sigh with a soft digruntled groan.. She'd been in the bar less then an hour and had three males all Propositioning something, One had been helping her another wanting something for the information she requested, and another whom as he said was much like herself, this Lucavi she'd already been called by Layne, Her tails gave another twitch. She wasn't playing games, nor trying to get anything for free, but information was information regardless of where she went, and if she had to trail out and find it on her own then she would. She picked up her glass of water, sipping a bit more down before setting the half empty glass to the table. Her eyes looking between each of the males as she went silent. Looking around the room at all else within, she gave a slight shake of her head before standing up and stepping just a little away from them all, turning to look at them each.
Thank you at least as much for the information I had gotten Wolfe.. Layne, thank you for teaching me as much as the basics of the card game, And you.. the one much like myself who hasn't given his name despite probably knowing my own yet.. thank you as well for Sympathizing... If it's down to getting information at a cost when I have nuthing but myself and my abilities then as such, then you all have no use of anything I'd have.. If you Layne.. want Wolfe's help, you should deal directly with him, If you wished to help in my need of information.. then do such, Do not play games against or with me. And you.. I do thank you once more for the small bit of information you've provided..
With such being said she'd turn, pushing past and back through the bar to exit it. Leaving the three sitting and or standing where they were, Her tails vanishing out of the door last just before it closed. Once back outside she sniffed the air, looking at the path leading back off and through the forest, and then to what seemed to be a dock for a ship. Her ears giving a soft twitch as a light wind caught against the fur, she turned and headed towards the dock, to see if anything was needed to take the ship if and when one would arrive.. Moving past others, her clothing rippling with her movements, the light armor underneath barely making a sound. Running over what information she'd gathered, despite how little of it there was she reached the end of the pier.. letting everything work over in her mind as she'd wait for a bit, thinking, thinking..
Wolfe watched as the events around him unfolded and as each person put in their fair share. It was at this time that yet another stranger injected themselves into the conversation. Wolfe listened as he gave his long winded injection into the conversation, and didn't even bother to try and interject at all. Wolfe thought it was kind of funny how people would just inject themselves into someone else's conversation about getting information, but then not giving any.
Wolfe couldn't help but just smirk as the newest person to involve themselves in the conversation started trying to speak about him and Layne as if he knew them. Wolfe had to hold back his laughter as he then went on about how he was better company then himself and Layne. It was obviously Layne's way to fast talk and win over his targets with smooth talk, and this new guy obviously just insulted the company of those he wanted to win over to make himself look better. It wasn't like Wolfe was arguing their tactics, as he knew everyone had their own way, nor would he try and deny any of the claims made against him.
Wolfe was a mercenary and he worked for money. The higher the amount the better in his eyes, and because of it he could come off as callous. Wolfe's profession defined those who worked it and would never make any claim to deny it or hide it. Most people would talk about how horrible mercs were but then as soon as they needed something done they couldn't do they would turn face and hire one. The irony in this didn't piss Wolfe off, but rather made him laugh as it showed the true colors of people. Most people were two faced, selfish, and hypocrites, but Wolfe didn't care because these same people where the ones that hired him and put money in his pocket. He thrived on those traits in people for his job profession.
Wolfe just pushed his train of thoughts to the back of his head as he heard Layne break into more dialog. Wolfe listened and once again could help but smirk. He agreed that nothing was free in Gaia, but Wolfe didn't mind helping out a cute girl from time to time. It was true that being a merc made you cold, detached, and money hungry, but that wasn't all Wolfe cared about. In truth he hadn't chosen to be a merc of his own accord. It had been something that was forced on him because of his skills and his life. There wasn't alot of places he could go because of his eyes, because most people just assumed things about him and his non-existent ties to Shinra and Soldier.
Also in his home land of Midgar he was hunted down like a rat, which cause him to always be on the move, even in other territories. With such assumptions and his need to always be on the move his options for a job were limited. So eh had decided to use his natural skills in a profession that suited his life, a life he hadn't asked for, but rather was forced into. However, Wolfe didn't complain about it, he never did. He just took everything in good stride and took pleasure in the little things in life and continued from day to day. There were even times when he enjoyed his life and job, but none the less he pushed on and didn't plan on just quiting anytime soon. He had some serious scores to settle before he called it quits and just faded away.
Wolfe shook his thoughts and refocused on the moment at hand as he continued not to say a word and just sat and listened with amusement. He listened as the new guy and Layne went back and forth trying to gain some invisible upper hand on the other/ Wolfe didn't care one way or the other as they both acted like they were holding some crazy life altering information from the other. Wolfe even knew a good amount about the Lucavi, but he didn't really care about all that. In his time around he had met more then a hand few, and had fought more then half of them for one reason or another, so this was all just a pointless ordeal to him.
However, they both kept referring to Rena as a Lucavi, but Wolfe wasn't getting that from her at all, and wasn't sure what to make of it to be honest. Honestly to Wolfe he didn't see why it was important if she was one or not anyways. She hadn't asked about them till they had called her one, and honestly it was the least important thing for her to know. She was new to a world she knew nothing about or where anything was at. First off she needed basic information, and maybe after that she could look more into what she was, but then again as Wolfe knew better then most that sometimes while digging up one's origins they can find information they were better off not knowing.
Wolfe was about to finally open his mouth and start making sarcastic remarks and start playing around, as he didn't really care what they were saying and he didn't take anything to heart. However, he was beaten tot eh punch by Rena herself as he pushed her chair back and stood up. Wolfe stopped himself as he was about to open his mouth and turned his head to look at Rena as she stood there. He then watched as she took a step placing some space between herself and all of the guys. He couldn't blame her, she had come in to just get some basic information and not be so lost, but instead she had been bombarded.
Wolfe listened as she then started going around the table trying to thank everyone for what they had given her, even if what they had done didn't really warrant it. It was easy to assume that between the two of them they more then likely raised more questions for her then answered. Wolfe would have tried to stop her but he knew it would just end badly as the other two would most likely end up making it harder and also it was obvious that she was a bit overwhelmed by everything. Wolfe just smirked again as he watched her turn and leave the bar.
Wolfe waited about 10 seconds after she had left the bar before he moved at all. He leaned forward and took his drink and tipped the glass to his lips and drank the rest of his drink in a gulp. He then reached his hand out and placed the empty glass on the table and slid his hand over and took the new drink that had been brought over to the table and brought it to his lips and gulped it down in one shot just like the last one. He then once again reached his hand out and placed the empty glass on the table before he spoke up looking from Layne to the new guy and back to Layne
"well, i would say that was good going you two, it seems you two ran her off... but anyways, thanks for the ...good... time, we will have to do this again soemtime.... but i wont hold my breath. Now if you are done insulting me, and you are done trying to set me up for rigged games, i believe i will take my leave now."
Wolfe just smirked at the both of them as he rasied his hand to the tip of his eyebrow and gave the both of them a two fingered salute and then slid his chair back and stood up. He then reached into his pocket and pulled out enough to pay for both his drinks and a tip that was double the total of his two drinks and placed it on the table as he gave Layne a slight nod and then turned and made his way tot he door and stepped outside.
As Wolfe stepped outside he took a second to stretch and take a deep breath. Every once in a while he could enjoy the smell of the ocean and this just happened to be one of those times. He then rolled his head to one side cracking it and then rolled it the other way cracking it again. He then turned and made his way around the side of the bar and to the area just behind the bar. He walked over to Lilith and swung his leg over his motorcycle and sat down on the seat. He then leaned forward and placed both hands on the handlebars and kick started the bike.
Wolfe slowly turned the bike and started to make his way to the main road. He then turned and started to slowly make his way down the street. As he was passing the pier he saw Rena standing on the end waiting to try and go somewhere. Wolfe figured she wouldn't get far because he was sure she had no money and obviously had neither to barter with. He just gave a slight shake of his head and smirked as he called out to her
"Rena!!! you have no way to pay for a ride... just get on, i am heading north, and i will take you. Don't worry about money, and if you want, i will at least help you get some passage from Lindblum. Its your best bet. you want on?"
Wolfe just couldn't help himself as he called out to her. It was hard for him to leave a cute girl in need, and in truth he had meant everything he said. He was heading north anyways and Lindblum was her best bet for passage. Wolfe just sat there on the side of the road looking out at Rena waiting to see her decision.
There was a half smirk, as Wolfe made his sarcastic remarks, despite the fact that they were the least biting remarks he'd ever heard in his life. It was actually kind of funny, actually - He feigned such superiority to them that it just made Layne want to snort. Of all the vices in the world, women was the one that cost one the most. As a mercenary... Wolfe was too certain of himself. It was just a amtter of time before someone - anyone- put him in his place. It wouldn't be pretty, either. But that was beyond him, for now. Wolfe was certainly not his problem, and neither was the Lucavi girl who would no doubt just cause more harm than good.
It left Draco, who wanted an answer from him. A straight answer. He just smirked. "Do I seem like the type that's going to merely abandon what he was just talking about? Nothing, and I mean nothing, in Gaia is free. My intentions least of all. There's a lot of things I do, for reasons I don't want to or need to explain, least of all to a Lucavi."
Normally, he never let his problems or his dislikes surface - he was usually far too composed for that. But to be directly questioned by a Lucavi who felt that he was owed answers, by the tone he used and way he stated his thoughts. Layne just shook his head, tugging at the collar of his coat.
"For now?" He brought his hands to his chest, for just an intant, before he turn and thrust one palm in the direction of a man who, though infinitely more sneaky than the ShinRa man, was still obvious to him. He quite literally unleashed a portion of his soul at him, though it would be completely invisible. The technique was impressive because though it would no doubt be forced to pass through the table he was sitting at to get to him. Yet, the table didn't even waver - the man he'd attacked, though, slammed in to the wall behind him, looking quite disoriented as he tried desperately to recover.
"I'm leaving. I didn't think one of the enforcers from Esthar would get here so soon." Unbeknownst to the Lucavi he was carrying this unusually civil conversation with, the part of his soul that he dislodged returned to him, though not in a manner that was particularly apparent. Much like the rest of his techniques, it was quite invisible to the rest of the world.
"But I will at least give you this, since you gave me a little bit of entertainment: I was raised in the Esthar Monastery. That's why I know so much about the Lucavi and what they've done here in my world. It's how I can feel them approaching."
He nodded. "It's from one of you Lucavi that I got my wonderful coat." He said, with a smirk, knowing full and well it was an actual principality's garb from the Lucavi realm. With that, he nodded gently to him, giving him a quaint wave. As he stepped out of the place - unusually quickly - he glanced either way.
Bending his knees, his coat shifted, for just a few seconds, in to dark black wings of a rather demonic variety. They beat, as he jumped, and he was quite literally thrown upwards. Sure, he couldn't perform true flight, even with this coat, it was much easier to coast along, gliding over obstacles until he was facing clear roads.
Layne EXIT ( Word Count: 618 Thread Word Count: 2229 Total XP: 222.9 )
Still standing on the pier, she looked back towards the nearby beach and land as she heard her voice being called. The soft twitch of her tails, wind brushing through her fur and over her clothing, She watching Layne exit the bar and seemingly leap off into the air, sprouting wings and leaping to the air, Her eyes following him a bit before she’d look back towards Wolfe on a cycle. Looking back out to the ocean she’d let off a heavy sigh, he was most likely correct in that she couldn’t get anywhere on a ship with no form of currency. Turning fully, she’d move now, feet carrying her across the docks and back towards land where Wolfe was waiting, She curled her four tails up around each other, making it look as though she had one very large poof of a tail. Her eyes watching the water till she reached land and moved over to Wolfe.
You… are asking for I, Myself to travel with you to this other land called…. Lindblum? Why is it you would wish my companionship on such travels?
She was still weary of such things, most likely would be for a while, But she was taught to be so. Staying cautious, getting information about place’s and things before anything else. These things were first and foremost for any journey especially a forced one. Bearings.. that’s what she’d needed to get, assuming he could help her more within the land of Lindblum she would accept the offer to travel so.. simply giving a nod as she’d look his bike over before carefully climbing on. She wasn’t carrying anything except what was on her form for the moment, she’d let him explain more on there travels though as they seemed to be starting. Leaning back on his bike she’d hold her hands at the sides to keep from being thrown off when they took off, heading wherever direction the needed to go.
*Draco felt bad, when the little one had misunderstood him, but he decided against stopping her, or even following her. He already that she would be somewhat independent, cause she was a Lucavi, and she had a fiery way about her, and Draco knew she didn't need or want a mentor. Draco knew she would do well. Draco just hoped his assumptions were well placed, there are few Lucavi, and if they don't look out for each other who will? Now the other Merc spoke, and it was the exact sarcasm Draco had come to know from every other Merc he had had the unfortunate pleasure of being forced to work with. Draco chose not to respond, because honestly they did the same work for the same reasons, and yet Draco still could walk away, he still chose the jobs he did. When he got up to leave, Draco knew where he was going, and he hoped she would kill him. Then he would help her escape, and be done with her, but he knew she wouldn't, but everyone makes mistakes, it will help them learn. Though, this left Draco in a bad spot, as this strange man and him were alone. Suddenly Draco was forced to the wall. This did not surprise Draco as it was expected, this man knew too much, and had a certain malice to his kind, not too mention he liked to play games, and all players cheat. Draco laughed when the man started trying to anger Draco, by showing that his coat was made from the hide of his kind. Though Draco had just recently become very patriotic towards his species he still has killed quite a few, and for less a prize than a nifty jacket. Draco let the monk leave, for the monk had done more than he thought. Not only has he now exposed every other monk, since Draco could differentiate the senses between normal humans, and monks he also hit Draco using their powers, which would let Draco track and sense them that much easier. Now Draco wasn't sure, but it seemed this man had done it on purpose, he probably hadn't, he just wanted to piss off a Lucavi and run. Well to bad he thinks he leaving a prankster instead of a very generous man. Draco didn't care though, he sighed reaching into his pockets, deep deep down. He found a few coins and put them on the table, before leaving.*
That was the last of the money.
I know, but I felt I should at least pay the kind monk for all his help.
So our we going monk hunting?
It's like you read my mind.
*Draco left the bar, and town in search of another job, only taking a few detours for new prey...* [Draco out]
Wolfe just gave a slight shake of his head as he closed his eyes for a second and smirked. He was just being nice, and he was being honest too. He didn't want anything from her, and he really was heading north. Not only that but his words about her situation were also true. With no money and nothing to barter with she was going to get nowhere fast. Also staying in the town was a bad idea too, as it was obvious that they didn't like "different" people and if she stayed there for any amount of time it would end badly for her.
Wolfe knew that if she was the only one of her kind then that rarity would end up being worth something to someone and she would end up someone's plaything, or slave. Even if she wasn't the only one of her kind then it would just lower the amount she would be worth to the right person by a little bit, and that was all. Rare was rare, and certain people would pay any amount of money or resources to obtain "rare" items. Even if those items happened to be alive.
Not only that but Wolfe did sympathize with her. People assumed they when who Wolfe was because he was a mercenary, and people assumed to know what he was because of his eyes. However, they were as far from the truth as they could be. Wolfe was not some easy to understand person, who didn't have a simple job or life. He was one of a kind. There was no one else just like him. There were probably others who were results of things like Hojo preformed on his mother. This is a bond that could connect people with similar origins, but in truth each one would truly be one of a kind. Even then Wolfe wasn't sure if there was anyone else that was quite like him, or even shared aspects of his creation, and even if there was, Wolfe had never met one.
Wolfe knew what it was like to be thrown into a new scene with nothing, and the need to survive, and seeing this girl stirred something inside of him that reminded him of what he was. So Wolfe couldn't help but offer to help her. Maybe the man in the bar had been right, maybe he was just a merc, and that meant he only cared about money and himself, but even then Wolfe saw a little of himself in the girl. The part of him that was special, and alone, and unique.
Wolfe just smirked as she asked why he would want her to travel with him and climbed on the bike. Wolfe waited till she was on the back of the bike before he turned his head to the side and spoke back to her.
"Lets just say.... you remind of me someone i...once knew"
Wolfe's mind flashed back to a time right after his mother had died and how he had been alone, lost, and with nowhere to turn. The good in him couldn't just let someone go through that, especially if at no inconvenience to him, he could help them, and double so because she was cute. Wolfe's smirk grew to a full blown grin as he turned his head back to face forward. A moment later the bike slowly started to roll forward from it's dead stop, and gained just a little bit of speed as they cruised along down the street heading fro the outskirts of town.
From here Wolfe was going to go north and cross into Lindblum territory. From there Wolfe didn't have much of a plan, but he figured one would come to him when he got there. That was how Wolfe normally worked, as he never made plans. He knew that if he did, then he would feel inclined to follow them, and if he did he would start to show a trend. A trend that Shinra could follow and then try to jump one step ahead of Wolfe. So Wolfe normally just made his plans as he went along making sure never to think too far ahead.
