Each players post will contribute to this count.
Starting Location [IMPORTANT]: Each of you will all be on boats cast out from Luca in order to battle Sin.
Sonzai found himself visiting the town of Luca while wandering around the worlds. He had heard of a Blitz ball game happening soon and he had wanted to watch the game. However; he was interrupted on the way there for the monks had noticed that he was a traveler. They asked him if he could help drive Sin away from the town then it appeared. They had somehow deduced that it would be sometime soon.
Sonzai had though that it was a strange request; he didn’t look strong at all. He wondered what would have driven the monks to just ask him like that. Almost as if they were so desperate for the help of anybody who could help drive this beast away.
Today was the day; the signs of Sin approaching the city through the water. He had been given a small boat from where he would stand and fight Sin. As soon as the torso of which came out the monk that was with him at the moment asked him to quickly get on the boat. Apparently Sonzai would fight and the monk would row the boat.
Sonzai got on the boat with the monk and took off. The clear horizon was at sight. Suddenly a large shadow overtook the place. Like a swarm of locust bug-like creatures had come and started to make their way across the sea. Sonzai looked in awe and fear at the number of bugs that were flying toward him.
“Those are Sinscales; they are part of the bigger monster that we want to drive away.” Explained the monk when he saw Sonzai’s face. Sonzai then readied himself; hopefully these creatures were not hard to beat. He took out his necklace “Namonaki Shuunou; ware no meshidasu o kiite kure! Kono Te ni kitte nasai!” The necklace grew and became a dark purple colored scythe with a red rimmed blade. Sonzai grabbed the blade and spun it as he waited for the Sinscales to come toward him. He would first test the strength of the creatures and see if it was fir for him to use any energy on them.
The fist swarm flew toward him; he slashed the first one as he spun the scythe on his ands and slashed in at the Sinscale. All it took were two hits for the scare to simply die. There were weak; bothering with them was useless. Sonzai spun the scythe above his head and moved this hands down as he started t slash at the Sinscales around him. One of the Sinscales started to have glowing wings and Sonzai started to worry about what attack they could do. He quickly slashed at that specific Sinscale and killed it; unluckily he didn’t notice that another Sinscale had started glowing too and he got hit by a needle attack. Sonzai hit the scale down.
The bracelet on his left wrist started to glow as Sonzai’s small wound started to heal. The back of the sin had come closer; Sonzai could catch glimpses of it from between the small spaces that the swarm of Sinscales had. He quickly spun in place twice and killed some more Sinscales that were around him. Usually if they were fighting maybe 5 it would not be annoying; but Sonzai knew; great numbers also make a huge difference on everything that could happen. This was such the case; the Sinscales were weak, but their numbers proved to be a big annoyance to the red mage.
Sonzai was tempted; he wanted to use fire magic in order to get rid of the swarms of Sinscales; however he knew that it was wiser for him to just save his reserves when fighting against the beast. Even if he could recover his energy faster; one never knew what the beast could hold. After all, the monks had told him stories about how the creature could destroy cities in a matter of minutes, if not seconds.
He was at first reluctant of helping; not knowing if he could ever defeat the creature; however the monks told him that all that was needed was a great deal of damage dealt in order to simply drive the monster back to where it came from. It was then obvious to Sonzai that he could try doing so; and if he failed, he could try to run away and not have the guilt of not even trying to help these people.
Sonzai stood there fighting on top of the boat. The monk poke again “Thank you for agreeing to help us.” Sonzai quickly moved back in order to be close to the monk and started his barricade of attacks on the Sinscales again. There were so many; he did not want the monk to get hurt while he was around fighting too. “You’re Welcome” replied Sonzai with an unnatural voice. It was not that he didn’t appreciate being thanked; but rather he was not accustomed to the treatment.
Throughout all his life he was ignored; neglected, and forgotten; and how he was being acknowledged and thanked. His presence was known to others. It was a new feeling to say the least. The two got closer to the Sin; and the monk stopped the boat; and asked him if he could fight form this distance. Sonzai nodded “Magician’s slash” he mumbled. The scythe’s blade lit in fire and Sonzai walked toward the front. He slashed a series of blades toward the Sin and also hit some of the Sinscales on the way.
Now that he had already used the attack he quickly slashed behind him and threw a weaker blade of fire that ended up killing the few Sinscales that were hanging around the boat. The monk had somehow managed to not just keep himself alive; but also unharmed. Sonzai did not question how that happened; he simply lived with it. His best reasoning being that either the monk was a really good fighter; or he got ignored by the Sinscales like he was ignored when he was a kid.
Sonzai turned back to face the Sin; whose torso was clearly visible above the water. Sonzai stood in the middle of the boat where he had the most space and proceeded to hit his combo. A diagonal slash of fire; followed by a secondary horizontal sash; his left hand let go of the scythe as his right hand turned the scythe sideways and passed it behind his back, his left hand receiving it and holding on as the right hand let go of it. Three blades of fire headed directly toward the Sin’s torso.
The flames on the scythe went off as Sonzai waited to see the reaction of the beast after receiving his barricade of attacks. He had shot a total of 10 blades; and he wanted to know if the monster even received damage or not form that. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Word count= 1148 Total= 1148
The Shin-Ra Electric Power Company was expanding. It was reaching farther into Gaia, establishing Mako Reactors on in all corners of the world. The idea was to supply power and comfortable living to every man woman and child on the planet, and in truth, they were doing that. But the majority of the power and comfort went straight to the Shin-Ra Big Whigs.
And at the forefront of this, the very top of the, best of the best, and the man reaping the most benefit from Shin-Ra’s actions was none other than Tobias Shinra, President and owner of the company. There were only two things in all of Gaia that Tobias cared about; himself... and his wallet. The president was all about boosting his own wealth in the fastest way possible... But the fastest way wasn’t always most effective way.
The Shin-Ra Electric Power Company had a huge combative force under its control. It was the most powerful privately owned militia on the planet, and it was more powerful than most, if not all, government-run militaries as well. So why did the owner of the world’s greatest military not simply attack? Conquer the lands and then build the reactors needed for the company’s continued growth? The answer was simple; Tobias was an idiot.
He wanted money now, not later, and sending in troops would put a temporary dent in his already abundant funds; Tobias didn’t like dents, even if they were temporary and the return was to be many times the amount lost. Rufus Shinra, however, had a different way of thinking entirely.
Rufus was Tobias’ son, Vice President and heir to the Shin-Ra Company’s economic empire. And Rufus didn’t care for Gil at all. With his mother dead, and his father focused on the company, Rufus was ignored his entire childhood. And now he wanted people-everybody-to take orders from him. Rufus wanted the attention, the recognition, and the respect that he so rightly deserved. He was ignored his entire life, and now he was determined to make the world look up to him. It was power that Rufus sought, not Gil. And though the two were linked, Rufus understood that Gil was just a tool he could use to get what it was he truly wanted; the reverence of every man woman and child in Gaia.
And so, when the Shin-Ra Electric Power company turned to the Spiran Government asking for permission to use Spiran land to construct reactors on, and when the techno-phobic Spirans refused, Tobias and Rufus had different ideas on how to handle the situation.
Rufus felt that force was the best way. Go in, and take the lands they needed. Tobias, however, refused to spend the money necessary to deploy the troops. Rufus thought this was the most ridiculous thing ever. They have the strongest army on the planet, and his father wanted to use them as security guards? It was laughable. But in the end, Tobias' authority overshadowed Rufus', and it would seem that the company would not be building reactors in Spira.
But then they learned of the entity known as Sin. Sin; a monster that roams the seas near Spira and Zanarkand, destroying all it comes across. This creature had apparently been plaguing Spira for the past thousand years. On top of that, if Rufus understood things correctly, the beast was the very reason why the Yevonites of Spira were opposed to modern technology in the first place. If Sin were to be removed from the picture for good, than Spira may just embrace science again.
This struck Rufus with an idea, a compromise of sorts. His father refused to spend money unless it resulted in an immediate return. It was why he refused to go to war with other countries. However, Rufus argued that the gratitude of the Spiran people for wasting the monster would be pretty instantaneous. And Shin-Ra had the greatest army in the world. Rufus felt that this was a sure way to re-open the negotiations with Spira, and much to Rufus' surprise, his father agreed.
And that brings us to the present. Rufus stood on the deck a Midgardian Battleship, one of the best in the fleet, though that was not exactly saying much. Shin-Ra was not know for its naval force; they were an ground based military, using tanks, great walking war machines, and heavily armed helicopters. Indeed, this "battleship" they were on was not truly a battleship at all, but rather a great aircraft carrier, but instead of carrying small jets, it housed dozens of the Shin-Ra Company's most technologically advanced helicopters.
Rufus turned to look at the hundred or so troops gathered on deck behind him. He smiled, looking down at them. Each and every one of them were awaiting his orders; this was the power he craved. He spoke. "Reports from the city of Luca say that the monstrosity known as Sin has been seen a few hundred knots north of south of here, heading this direction; directly toward the city. We are to defeat the beast." and then claim our reward from the Spirans Rufus thought to himself. "...Battle stations. Now."
The men saluted in unison, and then dispersed. Rufus stepped down from the platform and walked calmly through the bustling crowds. Men and women rushing to their copters, or grabbing their guns, or arming the ship's artillery cannons. Rufus walked on through them, up the narrow staircase, and into the captain's tower, perched just a few stories above the main deck where Rufus had just stood.
He looked out the Bridge windows for a moment, scanning the smooth waters around them. They were surrounded by other vessels, everything from small rowboats, to fishing vessels, to cargo ships. It was all the defense that Spira could muster in the short hours since the beast's last sighting. The city that these vessels came from was just visible in the distance behind them.
"Well?" He turned to the grisly captain of the vessel, and unshaven, though elegantly dressed admiral. "Where is it?"
"Ah, let's see here... if the reports about this thing's speed and last know location are accurate, then I'd say... hermmm... carry the one... about twelve minutes away from here, assuming it's traveling in a straight line." As if on cue, a huge fin rose from the water on the horizon, rushing forward, to wards them at great speed.
"Twelve minutes, huh?" Rufus said blandly. The admiral began to stutter incomprehensibly, obviously worried that he had offended Rufus with his miscalculation. Rufus sighed. "Just get ready." As he said this, a wave of what looked like mist flew off of the great fin, the misty cloud soaring through the air in an arc, coming down upon the line of ships. As they approached it became apparent the mist was actually comprised of thousands of small creatures. The creatures crashed and landed upon the deck, unfolding themselves, revealing their small spiny bird-like bodies.
Rufus smirked as he watched the Sin-scales. This wasn't some wooden sail boat, this was a true war machine, a metal ship. The creatures' birdy feet had nothing to grip to, and they were slipping and sliding across the deck, being more of a nuisance to the men below, rather than a danger.
After a few seconds of sliding about, however, it seemed as if the things were adapting. Soon they had managed to get to their feet once more, and a few of them were even shakily attacking Rufus' men. It made no difference, however. The creatures were weak, and not used to machine gun fire.
Scanning the deck below, Rufus couldn't see a single human casualty. The wave of Sin-scales had caused no real damage. Rufus looked up again, out to sea, only to see that the fin of Sin had closed the gap between them. The monster was fast. The wave of Sin-scales may not have done any damage, but it had distracted the men from their tasks, and now Sin was upon them, and only about half of the copters were in the air. This wasn't good.
The other vessels were in even worse condition. They didn't have cannons or machine guns or metal hulls, they were simple wooden trading boats with some guys with swords on board. If Shin-Ra hadn't stepped in today, Luca would have been doomed... The thought of this made Rufus grin for some reason.
Daeus had been ordered to go to Luka as part of the team assigned to protect the vice president Rufus. Part of the super elite SOLDIER 1st class. This trip was supposed to be an easy routine diplomatic mission so far as Daeus had any idea. His normal attire was being worn in this occasion as he stood close to the president during his time around this Spiran village of Luca. Daeus stood in perfect unison with the rest of the squad standing at the ready. Reports from the city of Luca say that the monstrosity known as Sin has been seen a few hundred knots north of south of here, heading this direction; directly toward the city. We are to defeat the beast...Battle stations. Now." He heard the man in charge order. Daeus of course would be one of the ones in the front line on that battle front. He watched as the hundred or so others began going to the front of the beach lines and prepared himself by removing his sword "Zweihander" from its resting place on his back. He watched as his fellow compatriots waited although he was far to the left of the majority of the soldiers
He watched the ocean waiting for the hideous form of this beast to rear its head up from the depths of the ocean and come to the front to attack. His mind drifted from this day to battles past and his eyes held some what of a glossy sheen to them. He recalled the previous battles he fought and how he had been near death more than one time in the past. He watched again and saw hideous monster like pods fly from a larger form that was coming closer to the ocean. It was still a ways out but from the appearance from where Daeus stood it was still larger than most buildings even in Midgar. "Such a monstrosity can really exist?" he asks himself and watches the face of the men who line the beach as they look on in fear and awe at such a massive creature.
The pods strike the ground lining the beach creating some what of an army of sharp creatures. The wings of the creatures glitter some what of an odd pale blue light that seems to surround them. Daeus prepares himself for the battle that comes up. He returns to a single battle against the Galbadian army in which he fought his master and former mentor who had joined forces with them. Using the anger and hatred was something he was taught not to do as they could destroy him and in the heat of his anger it would create a irreversible mistake. However he could not completely forget that day and the betrayal he felt that some one he viewed as a father figure betrayed him so easily. He pushed such thoughts from his mind and watched the creatures before guarding himself against an oncoming attack. several sharp spines shot from the wings of one of the creatures closest to him as he blocked most of them however one grazed his fore arm creating a small wound that had now begun to bleed.
Moving from his starting position he ran forward and cut the first monster he came into contact with, devastatingly strong he managed to cut it clean in half and by the time he had spun around cut another in half as well destroying two of these creatures. They were not particularly strong but it seemed that more of these beasts were already showing up on the shore line and attacking the other soldiers on the ground. He rushed towards a group of the creatures that had congregated near his current location. Charging the blade with his spiritual energy as he runs he jumps into the air mere feet before arriving at the group. "Vertigo!' he yells bringing the sword from an overhead position to a lower position creating a crescent wave of energy that flowed towards the enemy group.
As the blast strikes two of the beasts destroying them and as he lands on the ground he spins around cleaving anothers head clearly separating it from the rest of its body which proceeds to vaporize into what the villagers call "Pyre flies" which are some sort of remnant of a spirit. Panting heavy after landing the last two attacks he see's one of his fellow comrades falling to the spines of the creatures. Moving from his current location he cleaves the beast cutting its wings off and then impaling it he then looks to the soldier. "Is this really worth it?" Daeus asks looking at the growing number of soldiers bodies as these "Sin spawn" cut them down. "A war against men to defend ourselves is one thing. But I am not sure if this attack against the beast can go on for long" he remarks to himself and then returns his thoughts to the battle at hand.
He had to get closer to the shore line and fend off the next wave of creatures that Sin through against him. By now he had several scrapes and cuts that lines his arms and caused the red liquid to dye his clothing. As he went to attack another Sin spawn a single spine him him in the shoulder. Dropping to his knees for a moment he looks at the beast and cleaves it in half with his good arm. Bracing himself up for a moment he removes the spine and holds the wound. He was growing weary already and this was not even the hard part of the battle. He would push himself through this however as he always had done in the past. Ripping a piece of his clothing he proceeded to bandage the wound well enough to keep him from bleeding out and continued towards the front of the line.
He cut down anything that got in his way often saving a soldier or two in the process of doing such a thing. His clothes by now were soaked with sweat and blood as the battle had waged on. As Sin got closer he prepared himself mentally and physically. He knew this upcoming battle was going to be one for the history books and those who lived through it would be written in these primitives history books. Now all he had to do was hold on for now until help got here and the more people fighting this thing the better. Daeus watched its approach and hoped they would not be crushed under its wake. He held his sword at the ready and prepared the energy in the blade for his next attack. He ran forward a little ways and jumped into the air again firing another arc of yellow energy this time at the large creature as he dropped down into the water.
He watched as the energy arc struck the beast and several of the Sin spawn fell dead off into the water. He swam the short distance back to the shore becoming out of breath. "This thing is not line anything I have fought before. Its not going to be easy to defeat it and I don't think I will make it completely through this unscathed" he thinks to himself hoping this ends quickly.
A s luck seemed to have dealt Miumi another shitty hand, as he had just been traveling from town to town in an attempt to get the isle of Besaid, as he had a dream that he would be the first Lucavi summoner, instead he had ended up in Kilika when Sin had come to attack. He wasn't normally one for battle but as he saw the look of fear within mother and child a part of him felt rage towards Sin. Hense why he was on a boat, his eyes were closed and the only sign that he was breathing was the fact his chest was rising and falling in a constant fashion. One of the warriors knocked on the small door which lead into his room opening it slowly and walking over to Miumi, gently grabbing his shoulder and shaking. Something about five more minutes left Miumi's mouth then the guard laughed a harty laugh which actually awoke Miumi. As Miumi's icy blue eyes cracked open looking around his room almost like a wild animal before he found the man laughing above him. He smiled softly as slowly he would rise upwards, Miumi's black hair cascading over his pale skin and obscuring his face for a moment, the men hadn't seen Miumi's more demonic features which he hid in his clothing and under his hair. The man spoke for a few minutes but Miumi just stood up and slowly would lead the man out of the room and close the door and lock it.
As Miumi stood there in the silence, feeling the ship rock back and forth causing to smile slightly, As Miumi walked over to his bag reaching among it's content he pulled out a long black ribbion which had small tassels of crimson on the end as Miumi stood like a statue adjusting his hair ever so slightly pulling it into a taunt pony-tail before he bound it tightly, he felt a sharp pain from doing this action causing him to gasp loudly. As he adjusted his hair he would cover his black wolven ears easily with his hair as he looked in a small mirror that was across from him. Miumi would smile softly as he walked over grabbing that teddy bear which had been resting beside him and his bag, slinging the bag roughly over his shoulder before he smiled. His door flew open as Miumi pushed it open, turning to hear a complaint from someone who had almost smacked in the face with the door. He would offer a single sheepish apologetic smile before he began to walk towards the stair case that lead to the deck. As Miumi felt the rays of light he let out a rather content sigh as he stretched, how had Miumi slept so easily, but what awaited him shocked him. It was part of Sin above water, it was massive dwarfing the boat he was on. If that was just part he could only attempt to imagine what was beneath the water.
Suddenly he noticed a small flicker of glowing on Sin's fin, suddenly a barrage of shell like things were fired at the ship he was on, He took an offensive position his teddy bear being thrown into the air, suddenly a liquid chain of rainbow colors could seen flowing from Miumi's wrist connecting to the bear. Who began to grow slightly while in mid air, those black eyes of the teddy bear moved around rapidly, before they opened revealing icy blue eyes much like his owners. String began to fray wildly around his mouth as the stitches were undone revealing a working vocal system within the teddy, as it cleared it's voice and coughed a few times. Miumi got strange looks from the warriors. As he stood firm he would just gently pet the bear as it's claws began to stretch and soon the cloth split open revealing series of blade like claws, which were wicked sharp and cleaned recently. As the warriors came near the bear would look at them then leap carefully onto his master's shoulder. It seemed like they were almost like twins as they faced this danger without even flinching. Miumi wouldn't admit it but he was scared , he was afraid to see the after effect of this attack, as he looked around he imagined how many of these very men would end up dying. A faint glisten of a tear could be seen sliding down the right side of his face being wiped away by a fuzzy paw.
" I wish you luck, warriors. "
W hen those words softly left Miumi's lips, it was hard to believe that something called a demon could be so gentle and calm in nature. He also seemed so innocent yet Miumi was known as a cold hearted killer by many, despite never having drawn a weapon against another human being only the fiends which plagued the land. As Miumi turned his head as the sin scales crashed against the deck of the ship, small shards of wood shot upwards, grazing Miumi's cheek causing a shallow gash which began to bleed. Miumi's hand slowly slid upwards letting the blood pool on his fingers. As the Sin Scales began to awaken Miumi looked at them before the blood coated his fingers suddenly he swung his hands and his blood flew at them, it litterly flew turning into razor sharp crescent blades due to his magic. Many of the Sin Scales had just begun to move around and were cut deeply some falling to the ground dead, before bursting into pyre flies. A few of the men stared at Miumi in horror as he turned to face one, he saw the glittering wings and then a young man fall to the ground grabbing his sides as blood began to ooze from it. Miumi threw the teddy bear at the creature, while it batted at the bear known as Ayamu, it was cut to pieces by a sudden barrage of rapid attacks by the almost innocent looking child toy. This was the mask Miumi wore.
The world erupted in the scents of battle, the smell of smoke from mage's hands, the smell of burning skin and hair it was sickening, the feel of blood on your body and the smell of was overpowering, it was a morbid world that we all lived in, as Miumi watched as some of the men along side of him were being treated, It was his job to hold back the Sin Scales, as one of them came close, Miumi heard the words flying around on his lips almost as if he was chanting to himself, His eyes closed briefly as the thing began to flutter it's wings and glow. While as it attempted to aim Miumi slammed his hand forward a single orb of fire in his hand it exploded over the creature burning it to a crisp and the excess flames would burn other sin-scales. As he stood calmly grabbing the blade from a fallen solider, spinning it around carelessly within his hand getting accustomed to the weight. As one came charging at him Miumi remembered doing an elegant strike as the blade seemed to flow easily. It was light weight so MIumi was able to cleave the Sin Scale in two. He kept walking gently across the hull of the ship till he was standing by the ropes, where small canons could be seen. This boy was a danger to those around him as he stood still, a gentle wind flew around his body almost embracing him.
He stood there watching as Sin began to come much closer, speeding through the water, Miumi had been lost to the world as his eyes seemed to space out gaining a glazed over look as he focused purely on Sin, as he stood there his hands were held up to the sky, many of the warriors who weren't injured slid along side of him to protect him from the scales. They noticed the very air around Miumi was growing cold as they heard him muttering an enchanting set of lyrics which began to grow in power, as Miumi's hands began to glow an icy white color. As he felt the final words on his lips, he turned in time to see one of the men falling by his feet, blood was leaking from his stomach, as Miumi looked down he remembered someone throwing a potion, which began to heal that wound. That man had placed his life on the line to protect him, His attention turned back to Sin, and the effect was viewable all across the battle field, Focusing on an area in front of Sin, Suddenly a orb of spiraling petals of ice was in his hand he fired it and it would fly towards the area he had aimed, when it came in contact with the water it exploded, it started with a platform of ice, but then the spikes of ice formed as it splashed, and Sin would end up running clean into the jagged spikes, he wondered how bad that would hurt.
Though due to the use of magic, Miumi could feel the mental strain and slowly it was becoming visible, the men noticed that Miumi was paler then he normally was. As he took a step back he wobbled and fell into the arms of one of the warriors who was supporting his weight. One of them fumbling with his belt pulling out a small glass vial filled with an elixir of some sort, he would gently cup Miumi's face and press the cold glass to his lips and tilt Miumi's head back causing him to swallow the liquid. It held a sweet taste to and was bringing Miumi back to the reality that was all around, as Miumi slowly smiled his face was twisted in a slight fashion that might give people the thought that he was drunk. As he slowly straightened himself up, feeling the fatigue being washed away. Another mage taking his place as he moved out to the battle, A sin scale attempting to get in his way, he still was holding the sword, He remembered slicing it's legs clean through and watching it teeter into the sea where it met the water grave. He then took on a defensive stance as he noticed many of them had grow to close for comfort, The men were busy with their own he had to work face if he wanted to live. As they began to flicker Miumi was going to die here and now but then he noticed there was a delay.
"I won't die here not now.... "
S uddenly Miumi slammed his hands to the ground and a release of cold energy was felt, as he hit the ground the orb exploded spikes of icy would fly from the wood as moisture became a weapon which impaled many of the sin-scales their bodies were laced through branches of ice, they were squirming in an attempt to live, but many had been pierced through wings and their main body meaning they were going to suffer. The slick ice was being painted a sickening red before he pulled back his sword and slammed it into the ice. It would go into the ice and he began to move it rapidly causing minor vibrations which caused series of cracks. Then he pushed upwards causing a major part to shatter and it began to break apart, causing slivers of ice to rain downwards as well as the bodies of the Sin spawn. It was at that point he saw bolts of lightning raining from the sky around him as well the mage was attempting to help him. It made Miumi jumped backwards flying through a thin gap between the bolts, his hair standing on end as he hit the rope guards, his body actually going over them his hand shooting out. He was hovering on the side of the ship, the rope was cutting into his hands but he let go, his hands grabbing the deck of the ship it was really slick but he managed to dig nails in, as slowly he managed to throw his weight around. Until he ended up on the deck. He was then questioned by his teddy bear who watched as his Master climbed back on deck.
"Mi- lord are you all right."

Today had been a rather busy day, people had been chatting, games had been going, things had been lively. Even Nightmare was just wandering around, enjoying himself, before having to go on another job. Once again he was contracted to kill a business man, apparently for becoming too powerful in a certain market. Apparently, the contractor didn't like the competition, and wanted him wiped off the face of Gaia. Well, that was just fine, as long as Nightmare got paid in the end, he really couldn't care less what happened. After all, he had been hired, he had been given some money upfront, and he had been given the work he had to do. Like a professional, his first stop was right where the target was just so happening to make a business trip.
And he had been tailing the old man at every turn, waiting for a moment to be alone, so it'd be easy to take him out. Fortunately, the old man did not suspect anything, and had not hired a bodyguard to help protect him from the competition. How foolish, he was becoming more well known, more wealthy, there'd be others out for his growing amount of wealth. Whether it be enemies, friends, family, there would always be someone around the corner waiting to take everything the man had earned. For the old geezer, it just so happened to be Nightmare, getting paid to assassinate the old man. Even better, he had been told he was free to loot the body once it was over for anything that he could find.
And just like that, Nightmare had found an opening on the old man, it was time to end his long lived life. However, before he could do such a thing, alarms began to go off, people began to shout how Sin had arrived. People really knew how to freak out these days when it came to an apocalyptic threat, they had gotten better. Then again, the memory of Bevelle being completely owned probably helped spurred some common sense within their brains. For Nightmare, it was also all too familiar as the memories of Bevelle came flooding to mind, just great. It was a repeat of last time, he hadn't even gotten to kill the guy, and already things were getting screwed. His luck, it just never really seemed to improve all that much for assassination missions ever since that event in Bevelle.
But no, he wouldn't let this one go that easily, he would make sure he was the one who got the job done. Not some bloody little sinscale that had decided to steal his kill, he would be taking the finishing blow. So, pulling out his Thompson Contender, Nightmare simply aimed it at the target and pulled the trigger. Within an instant, the bang was completely drowned out by the alarm, blood spattered on the pavement. The man fell over, the bullet having penetrated the back of his skull, completely and utterly dead, and no one seemed to notice because Sin had decided to pay a little friendly visit. Well, that would work just fine, though he didn't have time to get to looting the body, he had a space whale to stop. After all, he couldn't pass up a chance to get some well deserved revenge on the aquatic mammalian bastard.
So, he pushed and he shoved and he sprinted, going through members of the crown with relative ease. For people who wanted to avoid Sin, they sure knew how to stick together in large annoying clumps. It was like they had a giant sign on them saying "EAT ME I AM DELICIOUS", it was annoying, and it was suicidal. Sin never went for people who went solo, it only went after groups, at least, that was what he had learned. It was the sinscales who went after the lone wolves, so maybe the clumps were to fight against that. Bah, he didn't care, it wouldn't too long before he got to the harbor to watch the entire show. Had taken him long enough, and he didn't want to miss out on everything, so when he arrived, he was rather thrilled.
Yeesh though, already Sin was being completely clobbered, the giant whale really had been getting on in the years, no? Well regardless, Nightmare was here, just like everyone else, looking to help beat back the legendary fiend. Looks like everyone could team up when it came to beating back a giant freaking space whale, so it was a universal hatred. Hell, it looked like even Shinra was here to help save the day, that was new, considering how he heard the president was. Then again, he was only going on the rumors that portrayed him to be somewhat of a complete asshole. Then again, if the rumors were so prevalent, there had to be some measure of truth to them, correct? Either way, he supposed that any help would be greatly appreciated in the long run, lest Sin cause cataclysmic damage to Luca as well.
Which reminded Nightmare of the attack and destruction of Bevelle, how he had been unable to do anything to stop it. Sinscales everywhere, it even botched what was his original plan for an assassination, though the old man still died. So he at least got paid by the contractor in the end, and for him, that was good enough to go by. Though he did regret the fact that the knightly girl ended up getting raped, quite literally, by the sinscales before being killed. Really, she had rival material, but no, she just had to go and die right away, it was just saddening. Well, maybe he would get a rival someday, all he just had to do was find the right person for the job. Who knows, that rival could have been closer than he could've previously thought as a potential possibility.
But of course, Nightmare had to get in on the action, everyone was hogging everything all to themselves. That was no fun, he didn't like to share, but it didn't seem like he really had all that much of a choice. So, he'd just have to work with the defenders and completely and utterly wreck the monstrosity. Who knows, maybe today was the day they'd finally kill it, after all, he had recently required a nifty summon. It was a rather gargantuan and holy summon, to some, they would recognize it as the great Alexander. He couldn't exactly remember how he got it, all he knew is that one day, he woke up being able to summon that damn thing. To him, that was completely amazing, and, well, he couldn't afford to let such a new and amazing toy go completely to waste, now could he?
So he casually moved to the edge of the water, as close as he could possibly get on his own two feet. Yes, this would be a nice spot to summon the giant, and then the two could have a giant monster battle. That would be pretty kickass, it'd be kind of like Godzilla, only without the fire breathing giant mutated lizard. But how to do it, of course, if some people saw Alexander, they'd probably get the bright idea to shoot at him. Ah well, he could probably just summon the thing again if it got clobbered, he didn't think they were physical. If they were physical, there'd be no way he could hide that thing, at least, he was pretty sure of that. So, he just assumed that if they died, he could summon them again later on, as if they were just merely immortal spirits.
He planned to wait for the right moment, unfortunately, that moment wouldn't happen and he'd have to act fast. The fin appeared, ok, so Sin was reaching shallow waters that Alexander could probably stand in. But damn, that fish could move fast for its gargantuan size, didn't help that it could fly somewhat too. Well, while Shinra and Luca and whoever else decided to come along for the ride, Nightmare would make the grandest entrance of them all. If he pulled it off right, he'd be the one getting all the glory, and probably most of the rewards. After all, who else had a giant holy summon at their disposal? Probably nobody, that's who didn't. Now was the time to strike, now was the time to move, now was the time to steal the whole show.
Without warning, a blue light shot from the water, high into the sky as it seemed to send a shockwave throughout the area, though none would feel it. Its origins hundreds of feet away from the behemoth known as Sin, though Nightmare was sure it'd draw a few eyes. After all, something like that just wasn't something that you went and ignored, lest you end up dead, or something. Not to mention it was just so damn pretty, it'd either inspire utter terror to some there, wondering what Sin was doing. Or to others, who knew what it was, it'd be something along the lines of a hope spot, to show Sin wasn't all that. To Nightmare, Alexander was the latter, something that could, and in his opinion, probably would, make Sin howl. This was the first time he had summoned him to combat something like Sin, it sort of gave him a rush of adrenaline to watch the clash of the titans.
Slowly, but surely, the castle like summon rose out of the depths of the ocean, sea water pouring out wherever it could find freedom. Two appendages, much like arms, seemed to hold the holy being above the surface, ready to battle. Though it was clear a good part of it was still submerged, it could still fight just like everyone else. Two very large shining white wings expanded, much like those of an angel, it seemed rather unfitting for Nightmare to have something like this. But, maybe the thought of just summoning a giant fighting castle sounded like a pretty sweet idea to him. And, to be honest, it kind of was. Any nobility could live in a castle, but you had to be fan-fucking-tastic in order to live in a giant one. And to Nightmare, he thought he had earned that right, to own a giant fighting castle of epic proportions.
And thus the attack was made, the wings glowing a bright blue just a mere moment before releasing thousands of blue beams of pure magical energy. To be honest, Nightmare really didn't care if anyone got caught in the crossfire, it probably wouldn't be noticed. People would probably be too caught up in watching the giant castle tango with the giant space whale. Though one by one, within seconds the beams had reached Sin, hoping to pound into the giant fiend. Which, after a short while, they would explode into a magnificent light of red and orange. Nightmare wanted to be flashy, so, what better way to do that than summon Alexander? He couldn't think of anything at the moment. But for now, all he could do was watch and see the results of the attack he had done just for a bit of flair.
((I'll make a placehold for Kefka, and post in the morning... providing no one exeeds the limit before I get to it. My mind is completely blown to hell at the moment... Ugh...))
((Placehold? But I already said I'd post tonight... but then again Kefka hasn't had the chance to post, and there's only 2160 words left, wouldn't be fair to finish Sin off without him... Tch! FINE! I'll post after Kefka in the morning. ...just feel a little lack-luster about my earlier post... it was epic, sure, but I didn't really do anything yet...))
[OOC: Not to continue the OOC fad here guys I would have been in on this with Ignis already had Mal been on long enough to accept the completed Bio >.>; I just want in on some of this action as Ignis, after all, I wanna start out Ignis' story with a bang]
((OoC: I has an ideer! Since we all seem to be having too much fun with this thread, why not increase the word count total to say 15k or 20k? Ruien and I are both admins, we can do that right? >_>))
OOC: No Sirxeko, you and Ruien can't. Down to this being my thread. But I didn't really expect this turn out sooooo...
A large groan is shot out from Sin from under the water, its tail raised up into the air and lashes at the water, a large wave comes. The captains of the boats turn them towards the wave and prepare to ride it. Sin's head pops out of the water.....it lets out another groan. Clumps of scales fell off into the water, but unlike the normal Sin scales...these seemed to move as one. One of the ships ( no one is on this one) crashes into the sea as a large tentacle sweeps out from under the water and drags it down.
New enemy Added!
Name:Sin Spawn: Kraken Description: A large water based Sin spawn that seems to resemble the water beast of old legends. It has powerful water magic and large tentacles to attack and destroy ships. Information: 5000 words to defeat.
A s Miumi began to slowly climb back on deck, he turned in time to see something, Miumi's eyes were widened with shock as he saw a bright almost blinding pillar of light begin to fire from the ground up towards the sky causing him to let out a slow gasp as if he was shocked by what he was seeing, it was so beautiful it was nearly awe-inspiring. Slowly Miumi's fine eyes began to focus on the water, he could see something beginning to slowly rise upwards from the depth of the sea, at first he thought it was because Sin was pushing the water around and revealing ancient ruins, as the creature began to peak through the water Miumi stood awe inspired watching as the creature was holding himself up, it was massive in size and Miumi could still see the shadowy figure meaning most of it was still hidden under the water. Soon Miumi heard murmurs as the angelic white wings began to flow around the creature as if it were some type of angel from another world. Suddenly those white wings were painted blue for just a small second before Miumi watched as suddenly beams of light began to fly in random patterns some were spiraling towards the creature. Others were managing to hit the sin spawn which exploded in agony. Miumi was awe inspired he was beginning to wonder was that the power of the mighty aeons he was going to attempt to summon soon. That was incredible.
As the beams made contact, Miumi saw the water around sin suddenly ripple outwards almost dangerously, as Miumi stood there just watching slowly he walked towards the head of the ship standing on the long narrow pillar which meant he could fall at any moment, but he saw that attack it was amazing as they exploded in colors of red and orange much like the sunset of the island. Suddenly Miumi was thrown backwards falling into the ropes as Sin began to move from the water causing a giant ripple of water which shook many of the boats, he also saw a shower of scales flying into the ground except once they were in it they began to move in unison. His eyes widened in shock as he saw a long tentacle coil around one of the boats that were near him, it was then split in half as if it were nothing. As the tentacle then disappeared within the sea dragging the boat fragments down with it. Were the sinspawn really that capable but then it was at that point Miumi realized the Sin wasn't the one doing that. As he looked at Sin and then the creature, was it a spawn of sin or just a creation to help buy it's master some time. Though it was obvious that Miumi wasn't going to stand around and take it as cold water splayed his body, and a tentacle began to fly towards their ship. The warriors bracing themselves while Miumi began to speak.
" I call upon the gods of ice and snow, weave the world with your cold petals, blossom your trees of eternal ice, slice down my enemies, pierce them cold and turn the white snow red, in this name I invoke the spell BLIZZARA!"
W hen those words leaft Miumi's lips they were meant to be soft and gentle but many of the crewmates turned to face Miumi as the area around him was covered in a small bit of frost despite the heat as Miumi looked at the tentacle which was lashing towards the boat. A small orb of glowing blue energy was hovering around Miumi's body and as the thing grew closer suddenly it flew from him as if it forced to move by some magical wind. This time the orb spiraled distorting it's perfectly sphere shape forming an almost pin wheel. As Miumi's eyes closed for a moment he would open them when his eyes opened the ice constricted then expanded rapidly causing it to explode. Suddenly shards of ice that were easily the size of small daggers began to rain down upon the Kraken, It's tentacle was being smashed against by the rough ice which would cause that single tentacle to retract back into the water, while the assault would rain through the water, it had the force that it actually was flying through much like a harpoon. This boy, no this mage was a vile creature, as the cool wind swept around him, while instead of feeling dizzy Miumi seemed to have begun to get used to the toll of his spell casting as long as they were spaced slightly out. As Miumi smiled softly just gently running a hand through his hair it seemed that that boy had managed to tide away the creature.
As the tentacled slammed against the side of the ship while it went down, Miumi felt the entire boat rock causing him to fall to the ground, and as the ship began to attempt to cap-size he watched as many of the warriors were letting themselves fall towards the rope or holding onto something on the other side in attempt to shift the weight. The ones who had gotten over were slowly making a difference as the boat began to slow it's fall and seemed to lean more the other way, many people below could be heard shouting and slamming against the wooden hull of the ship bracing themselves to fall under. As Miumi noticed his teddy bear was falling towards the edge of the boat, His hand shot out catching between the bladed nails and he held on tight before he pulled his hand back and threw the bear towards the ropes, while not a word of speech left his lips the bear already understood his command. As the chain stretched and hardened the bear laced himself around the rope while the chain was cutting into them, MIumi could be seen shimming up the chain as did some of the warriors. While one could of sworn they had seen a tail under Miumi's skirt, the boat began to shift now slamming back into it's original position due to all the effort they had put in. They were going to survive Miumi was sure of that as he realized his heart had almost stopped.
"Are you okay,"
A s Miumi's grip slowly faded from the chain his body falling to the deck with a slightly painful sounding thud, but as he hit Miumi's breath was knocked out of him causing him to inhale in and attempt to gather the air he needed and that his lungs were burning for, as Miumi just lay there much like a fish out of water, His eyes closing briefly. One of the warriors realized the effect that this was having on Miumi, He would slowly walk over picking Miumi up from the ground and carrying below the deck. The teddy bear would follow as that man carried Miumi into a small room placing him down on the bed looking at the child before him, it was hard to believe that boy was traveling the world non the less trying to defeat sin. Part of him was envious that he couldn't be as strong but he had noticed, something this boy had no ears, as he looked careful he saw a lump of hair strain to move, he would just gently reach down pushing a few strands aside revealing wolven ears. The man gasped but he realized he should of expected that as he looked at the teddy bear and shook his head and simply walked from the room. This boy was a demon yet he was fighting against Sin, the boy had this man's respected and that man made a promise he would strike down anyone who dared to lay a hand on the sleeping child.
"Mi-lord be careful don't exhaust yourself, your magic maybe powerful but it is very draining on you, I think he might already be asleep, Mi lord?

Ya' know. I can't remember much before the gateway, only that we had finally taken' 'em down, and then, people got sick and started dyin'. We all panicked, we all thought we hadta find a way to keep livin'. So, we packed up and left, not knowin' where we were goin' to and then. BOOM! I was here, by myself. Separated from everyone else, I guess I shoulda' prepared myself for it, but damn this can be excitin'! It's a chance to start anew!
Ok, so not entirely, Ignis had, had no idea where to start for the longest time now, and now, here he was on a budget "cruise", lying in a cot on a boat that was only just bigger than a speedboat in size, of course he was the only passenger, he highly doubted that even the poorest person would have given over a single Gil to get onto this boat, but since he had arrived here, the primary method he used to travel back in his own world seemed to have simply stopped working.
Well, I sure as Hell wasn't waitin' about to die. So I jumped at the opportunity, only to find out that it was either wait to die here, or go through the gateway and die doin' so. Ah well I figured, maybe if we did end up dyin' then it'd be a more desirable death than whatever the hell it was that was killin' off everyone here.
The trip had been long and somewhat annoying, Ignis had, had nothing better to do for the past three days than lie in this cot and sleep away most of his day. He was bored out of his mind, he would have relished the chance to do something, hell, he would have even sung at the chance to fight something ten times his strength right now, at least that would have been exciting.
"Shit! SIN! I'm turning back!" Ignis tried to get up too fast and ended up falling flat on his face, he jumped to his feet with a curse and went to look out at the sea and felt his jaw drop, he had seen the destruction of Sin once already, but this time he had a chance to participate in some of it. He slapped the boat driver on the back of the shoulder and turned to go onto the outside of the boat.
"Chillax there dude. I'll go and take care of this bitch. Keep this thing movin' and we should be fine!" The half-a-second trip to the outside of the ship and onto the small standing area outside. Well, that certain was not going to be any good, he needed to actually see what he was fighting. He looked around and saw the small area on the front of the vessel that would have been perfect, it was actually used to clean the front windows of the boat and conduct maintenance on the front area, so there would be more than enough room for Ignis to take up most of his stances.
"Well, well. First jam session in ages! Nothin' better to get the old juices flowin'!" He struggled to clamber over the top of the drivers cabin and then stand up on the front of the boat, he looked back at the driver, whom right now, clearly did not like the fact that Ignis was standing on the front of his boat.
"Just keep us movin'! As fast as this thing'll let us go! We get hit, we're dead, kay dude!?" He saw what little color the captain had left in his face drain and smiled to himself, yeah, he would have probably been better off if he had not told the captain that, but it was done now. The wind grew stronger as the boat moved in a rapid direction, a rough circle around the outer edge of the conflict. His trench-coat, the old Mantra garb, lashed out with the wind. It was time, he tightened the bandanna that was covering his right eye and merely stood up straight, holding his right hand out in front of himself as an open palm.
"Kay then! Let's get this thing goin' with a BANG!" Several Sin Spawn leaped out of the water, getting ready to attack Ignis and then. They were incinerated by a wave of fire as Ignis summoned his guitar. His weapon! Ignis adjusted his stance and began with his regular stance, the fact that we was on a moving boat meant that he would be able to keep jamming without having to worry about looking out for oncoming attackers, he smiled and stood with one arm in the air.
"YEAH! LET'S RAWK 'DIS JOINT!" Came his enthusiastic yell, managing to somehow hear himself over the struggle. The First thing would clearly be to eliminate the biggest threat. The threat of Sin itself, that was when he noticed it drop into the water.
"HOLY SHIT!" Was his only answer as he watched a large tentacle rise from the water and destroy a boat that he had literally just passed, that was a slight bit too close, he watched as the large tentacled Sin Spawn rose from the depths, ready to aid the beast trying its best to get to. Ignis paused, not actually knowing where he was, he looked around and nodded to himself. Sin was trying to attack Luca, Well, Ignis was just going to have to help the people already trying to stop Sin.
"Tch. There hasn't been a single pet to replace Mr. Buzzles! Just go away!" He slammed his hand down wards, playing only a single heavy note on his guitar. The resulting explosion had an almost instant effect on the the tentacled monstrosity as it reeled back, the note carrying on for a short while as though it was attached to an amp. Ignis smiled, liking the enchantments he had put on his favorite object. As he had anticipated the kraken had tried to retaliate by slamming one of its tentacles onto the boat, yet Ignis was not going to let that happen, he moved quickly, holding his guitar above his head. He collided with the beast and began to channel his fire-based power into his guitar, smoke began to raise from the appendage and then with a squeal the tentacle and been burned through and fallen off.
"You're not gettin' away that easy bitch!" He swung around and hit the disembodied tentacle with his guitar, knocking it into the air, he moved the swing fluidly into a move where he was left standing holding his guitar behind his head. There he played another random assortment of heavy notes on his guitar, creating a random tune. He did not summon fire directly, but used the heat to make the tentacle glow red hot. And then, with a swift jump he span in the air and hit the red hot tentacle with his guitar, sending it straight at the kraken. He landed on the front of the boat once again and bowed.
"YEAH! Want a encore of THAT!?"
-[Words: 1,204]- -[Thread Total: 1,204]- -[Attacked The Kraken]-
Azure waves lapped gently against the hull of the iron Imperial dreadnaught as it slowly crept away from the Luca harbor after recieving a refit. After having its hull ruptured drastically by some fleshy, gigantic whale-like beast that the supersticious locals only refered to as "Sin", the retinue of the Gestahlian navy aboard the vessel had to sail on doldrums for days before finding a suitable port. Even then, recieving help was extremely difficult to say the very least. The locals within the costal city refused to see the ship for repairs, on the grounds that it was, as they so delicately put it, a "blasphemous machina contraption" and should "deserve to sink into the sea instead of remaining afloat with it's sinful mechanical energy that draws further upon the sorrows of all Spira..."
And so on and so forth. Even threatening the pious bastards did little good, as they simply gave the soldiers a determined look in the eye, spoke some gibberish about "the teachings of Yevon" and all that theological garbage, and walked resolutely away from the baffled and stunned, not to mention armed, Imperial troops. If circumstances had been different, those guards would've shot those defiant peasants on sight, but seeing as the city, and the whole continent, were protected by well-armored thugs with guns called the Warrior Monks, it was best not to push any buttons. Besides, Gestahl was extremely clear on the point of keeping the peace with the inhabitants of Spira. The Empire was treading on very thin ice nowadays. Galbadia was showing itself as the superior power against the war with Midgar, and should the Imperium grow too bold in its advances, the Sorceress and her little pet Lucavi Knight might be tempted to see such advancements as an opportunity to claim Gestahl's coveted Magitek machinery, drawn from the power of the Espers themselves. And the bloody conflict that was sure to follow such would surely decimate the Empire's forces, especially if those damnable Returners snuck around during the chaos and confusion of auch a war and hit them from behind. Everything that they have claimed, everything that they have earned through the spoils of war would be taken from them. So, in effect, to be inconspicuous and remain as such nowadays was the safest course of action against the threat of possible destructive conflict with such a force as Galbadia.
Thus, the Imperial marines didn't lay a finger on the locals, but that still didn't solve their refitting problems. Fortunately, after feeding a barkeep some coin (apparently, their determination to absolve their past sins didn't make them too proud to succumb to a little bribe), Imperial agents had found a small group of people within the city who had experience with machines, and seemed the only ones able, or even willing, to repair the wrecked dreadnaught. These few outcasts of Luca were simply known as the Al Bhed, and right from the off, when Lord Kefka Palazzo went personally to negotiate with them, he knew that he was not in Figaro anymore. These people were extremely strange, even compared with one such as the colorfully garbed Court Mage. They always wore gas masks and goggles over their faces, as if trying to obscure something, but in all honesty, the masks made them all the more noticeable. Still, it didn't seem to stop them, and Kefka had to wonder what lay beneath those masks. Their skin was tanned and leathery, and their hair was thick, dusty, and brilliantly yellow. Their clothes were far less dignified, as they seemed to be dressed in leather and rough-sewn work clothes covered in grease spots and tar blotches. Obviously, these were born mechanics. And if their appearances didn't make Kefka puzzled, they apparently spoke in some kind of gibberish that only they understood. Simply incredible, the mage thought grousingly. Now how were they going to negotiate with these grease monkeys? Well, it turned out that these barbarians, technologically savvy though they may have been, were bilingual with the common tongue as well, if only to a certain extent. They finally agreed to a suitable price from the jewels and spare power cores aborad the ship in return for the outfitting.
Now, after six abominable days of waiting for them to finish, the Al Bhed had announced that their work was complete, and Kefka practically ran to the edge of the dock and swam all the way back to the ship. He was that ready to leave this accursed place. The mechanics were paid, dark looks were given, and both sides went their seperate ways peacefully enough. The naval crew rerouted the Magicite nodes to power, all energy flowed into the correct valves, and the ship began to move once again, good as if she were just on her maiden voyage. Which mattered little to the Court Mage. So long as she could float and she could get him back to the safety of the Empire, Kefka would count it as a successful mission.
And, of course, the whole thing had to go wrong.
From out of the once calm, tepid waves of the sea crashed a monstrous creature of great size and scope, the likes of which were only the stuff to be beheld in the nightmares of children and adults. Easily able to tower over the greatest ships of the Imperial Armada, the terror incarnate known only as Sin was gigantic in length and breadth. It was indeed whale in shape and cast, and apparently a quadriped abomination, although the now-churning waves covered up any hint of it having fore-legs or back. Its skin was fleshy and wrinkled, the kind of texture that one would see upon a half-rotting cadaver, and the color of decayed, fetid meat. Along its vague approximization for a head, several beady orbs swivelled continuously around it, somewhat suggesting themselves to be the beast's eyes. And then, it opened its horrid maw, unleahing a frightening and terribly mournful call, sending sailors upon other boats covering their ears in despair and casting themselves over the side, screaming in terror. Shifting it's massive bulk along the churning waves, the beast stared straight ahead at the Imperial dreadnaught, and at the colorful speck standing on board.
Kefka stared straight back.
There were no words to be said, and quite possibly, if words could have been communicated with such an unholy force, the Court Mage would've been surprised. He witnessed the terror that the beast inspired, the chaos it profligated with its very presence in the bay of Luca, and the destruction it promised to bring to the thouands of innocent civilians that even now screamed and cried and pleaded to Yevon to deliver them from this godless obliterator.
Kefka couldn't help himself; he began to laugh.
It was a terrible sound, this particular kind of laughter, the kind of high-pitched, cold, merciless cackling that you would expect to accompany a frightening specter upon a haunted night. His painted lips curled and fully open in chaotic ecstacy, his icy blue orbs wide and maddening, Kefka continued to let it all go. It was just... so... delightfully incredible! This creature was much like him, in a sense, but there was one tragic flaw. It indeed caused chaos and despair to the people it destroys, but it always allows a few of them to live, in order to try and pick up the shattered pieces of their lives, the gaping holes in their families recently slain, so they can try to carry on, either effectively crushing them, or making them stronger, allowing them to endure. Kefka could not, would not ever give them such a chance. He would destroy them all, and he would be sure that all of them went screaming when they did!
And so, his laughter, his mad, insane laughter, echoed and rebounded across the now unruly waves. They people struck into terror by Sin's appearence, when they heard it, found a new type of fear slowly replacing the continual dread of their regular destroyer. This laugh hailed the coming of a new and terrible fate for them, and it was starting to erode the bedrock of the faith that guarded them so well against Sin. There was no atonement for this new evil, there was no Final Aeon to banish it away for ten years. This type of carnage would be encouraged by one of their own, a human, who walks among them now, and the thought that one of their own kin by race could allow for such a fate when Sin was punishment enough for them made their hearts stop with cold despair. They would know true chaos... and they would beg for the darkness of death to take them before it was fully done!
Kefka ceased his insane laughing to stare at the colossal beast which now rampaged in the bay, slaughtering fisherman boats and sending small creatures off its body at the pitifully few defenders trying to fight it. Quite a few of these dark forms arched upward in the air and landed upon the metal deck of the Imperial dreadnaught. Small blackened pods stuck into the deck and unfolded themselves, revealing insect-like fiends that rattled their mandibles threateningly at the leering Court Mage. There were close to a score already on board, while those that landed in the ocean were apparently scaling the sides of the vessel, determined to take the fight to the troopers. The crew looked confused at these creatures, then back at their leader for orders. Kefka narrowed his icy blue eyes at the pitiful pond-scum before him, not moving a finger as they regarded one another. Suddenly, one of the pod-like spawn decided to be ambitious, and leaped incredibly at the colorful mage, attempting to try and gut him with its spines attatched to its fleshy thorax, chittering wildly in triumph.
The sound suddenly was muted when a rather large Fira blast connected squarely with its flying body perfectly, sending the flaming carcass over the railing and directly into the churning waters of the bay. Kefka had raised a finger slightly to accomadate for the Fira's incredible blast range, and it was lucky that his fingers were at the ready, because after seeing their brethren topple in a firey heap, the other spawn decided to group together en masse and rush the prone mage in an attempt to bury him beneath their sheer numbers. Kefka simply smiled nastily and sent out a Blizzara spell, which seemed to be directed right in front of the charging horde of fiends. Oddly enough, it bounced upward with a resounding boink upon hitting the cold steel deck and exploded right in the face of the spawn, sending tiny shards of sharp, cutting ice flechettes into their ranks and tearing apart their fleshy armor. The ones that were left, Kefka took care of with a simple Thunder spell, allowing it to circle around them and zap straight through their bodies, leaving them charred husks.
The soldiers and naval personnel still on deck during that little display stared gape-mouthed at the Court Mage. At their silence, Kefka looked back at them, and screamed, "Well!? Don't stand there with your mouths hanging open, you slack-jawed idiots! We're not getting back to the Empire with that THING blocking our way! BATTLE STATIONS! Mann the Magicite cannons, full speed towards the monster!"
At once, the dreadnaught was bustling with activity, as orders were shouted down to the deck hands to haul anchor and course to engage Sin head-on. To most of the Spirans, this would seem a suicide mission, but to the Empire, it was a challenge. When they see something that blocks their way to a goal, they would do everything within their incredible reach of power to see it removed and pummeled into the dust. Even a monstrous fleshy whale creature. Plus the fact that those on board were driven by fear of Kefka, their de facto leader on this mission. All feared the Mad Mage's strength.
Pulling up some hundreds of yards away from the mostrosity, it seemed that battles to drive it away were already under consideration. Warrior Monks were firing volley after volley of gunfire at it from sheltered ships, cannons from Luca's port side were slamming into the beast, sending chunks of its flesh into the ocean with each blow, and there was even a... flying castle? Kefka looked upon Alexander with some small confusion upon his face, but he quickly shook it away. So long as it distracted Sin enough for him to deliver the finishing blow, it mattered little who summoned the damned thing.
And it seemed the castle's Holy magic was working against the unholy construct of Sin. It seemed to be wheeling around to try and escape from that barrage, but Kefka would not let it go without a parting gift, expenses paid by the Empire!
"FIRE ALL!!! FIRE ALL!!!" The Court Mage screamed, sending an Ecliptus spell along to add his own little injury on the creature.
Volley after volley of the enhanced globules of Magicite blasts hurtled from the cannons slammed sickeningly into Sin's exposed flank. A full broadside was unleashed upon the monster, and rippling explosions of green and blue force punched through whatever armor that Sin could erect around itself and tore into its hide. Giving a pained groan, the beast lumbered away from the port of Luca and turned back out to open sea.
On the deck of the Imperial dreadnaught, cheers went up from the crew and marines as they saw it turn away. They were victorious! Kefka watched as the chaotic being sunk beneath the waves and headed south, away from their intended destination, and smiled cruelly. His personal vendetta against the entity complete, Kefka finished his victory by letting out another cackling laugh. The dreadnaught gained speed and headed out of the harbor for Figaro...
Sin begins to slow....at the court mages final attack the huge beast began to stop. It dove underwater, the ships of the crew begining to panic, attempting to fight the suction tha tmight lead their own boats down to the slimey cold depths of the ocean. Luckily these men were skilled professionals. And the boats stayed afloat even as sin went under. There was however a shadow of the beast visible below the water...and in a cry of victory. You would all realise that Sin was moving away from the city.
Luca had been saved. For now.
However. There still remained the issue of the Sin spawn still causing havoic within the waters. If not defeated it would begin to cause major problems for the rest of Luca. Not to mention...Sin may be drawn to it once again. And the entire plan undone.
Sonzai’s blade connected with Sin; they had seemed to do some kind of damage and effect on it. The water was still shaking violently. The calm ripple that it usually had was gone completely. One beast; and all the peace was done and gone. At least Sonzai saw how he was not the only person around helping. A few random strangers had attacked Sin.
The Sin let out a groan and smashed its tail with the water. The sprinkles looked majestic from Sonzai’s point of view. Each droplet that floated up with the tail had been in the perfect position with the sun and a small rainbow was made visible; but only momentarily. The sin‘s tail started to head down; the monk who was with Sonzai abruptly stirred sideways making Sonzai loose his footing. He fumbled a little until he finally hit the floor of the deck.
“Couldn’t you have told me before hand?” Asked Sonzai in a demanding voice. “No time…” replied the monk. The boat’s tail started to rise up; and soon enough Sonzai found himself having to hold on to something on the boat in order to avoid falling. It was almost like Sonzai was boat surfing at this point.
The Sin’s head rose up; the water that rose reached the boat Sonzai was on; it was like a refreshing rain on him. However; Sonzai felt that it was going to be bad for him since his scythe was wet now. The wave had now just passed and Sonzai saw scales drop from Sin; however these ones were not like the Sinscales; rather they moved in unity; as one.
The scales moved down and suddenly a tentacle yanked a ship down. “That’s a Kraken; another spawn that comes out form the Sin; be careful these ones are dangerous creatures.” Explained the Monk to Sonzai.
Sonzai looked at the monk incredulously; just how many different things could spawn form one monster? It was almost an unreal sight. Sonzai was somewhat happy and afraid. He was happy to find out more about the different worlds; his adventure did not prove unfruitful.
A tentacle rose above the water and suddenly went straight toward a boat. But before it hit the hero on it had cast a Bizzara spell against it. “Head over there” commanded Sonzai. The monk obeyed. A tentacle then moved over to another ship and was driven back by whoever was around.
Sonzai then motioned the monk to stop; a shadow had started to move toward them. The tentacle rose up; the water around it looked like the morning dew; a vapor-like mist. Sonzai spun the scythe with force s that he could dry off the weapon before using the spell.
He was hoping that nobody had died in this attack; but he knew; whoever was on that boat that the tentacle first broke did not make it.
“The sin is driven back!” he heard the monk exclaimed. Sonzai then placed his scythe horizontally in front of him to block the incoming tentacle. The monster attempted to snatch the weapon away form Sonzai.
Fire!
The fire hit the tentacle released its grip from Sonzai’s weapon.
“Magician’s Slash” Whispered Sonzai; the blade of the scythe filled with fire. The kraken’s tentacle attempted to attack Sonzai; a strong whip headed toward the ship. Sonzai quickly slashed at the tentacle and avoided contact from it; a blade of fire slashed to the tentacle. The tentacle moved backwards and then went straight for a thrust at Sonzai.
“UGH!” Sonzai had gotten hit on the chest by the Kraken. A piercing pain filled his chest as he slowly got up; the blue sapphire still glowing lightly and healing his wounds. The pain on his chest slowly subsided. His bracelet was still working well.
“That’s it.. I’m getting pretty sick and tired of you… Now… burn; brightly, with intensity, incinerate that which stands before us. I invoke you FIRE!”
The fire on the scythe intensified as Sonzai cast the fire spell. He slashed at the kraken’s tentacle; the fire on his blade intensifying the fire spell he had cast. The ball of fire dispersed at impact and the tentacle retreated completely. He would be safe for now; down bellow the water surface he saw it; the tentacle was retreating. Sonzai found himself getting tired. He looked to the side toward where the Sin was not long ago. It was now moving the opposite way.
Now all that was left was the kraken that needed to be defeated; and nothing else. Sonzai looked at the monk and sat down; he was tired. They both smiled at each other as they saw that they were safe for now. However the two knew; as long as the Kraken lay undefeated none of them could return to the shore. Not yet at least, but for now Sonzai needed some rest before continuing on. He did however hope that somebody else would take care of this beast, so that he didn’t have to move again. Sonzai felt like it was a long day.
Looking around he caught a glimpse of the other heroes on the other ships; wondering if he’d ever get to meet them or even see them again in the future. They all looked like capable fighters; of skill greater than him each. Sonzai was now looking more and more forward to the path that the unknown future had laid for him.
Sonzai simply waited for his bracelet to finish healing him up; knowing that it would take more than just a few minutes. Most probably he’s be completely healed by the time he was back at the shore. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Word count= 942 [Attack toward Kraken] Total= 2090 Total exp= 209.0
The kraken had briefly beat a retreat after Ignis had fought with it, going after another boat, one much bigger than the dinky little thing he was stood on, but it allowed him a few moments to compose himself and plan ahead with his next move. He had something in mind that would lead him straight to Sin, however, he did not get very far. Cannons were fired, driving the beast back, Ignis stood in silence on the speeding boat and then.
"YEAH! WOO! GO YOU EMPIRE BEAUTIES!" Came the call, so that just left the thing Ignis had previously been fighting, well at least he had not gone to complete waste here. He adjusted himself on the front of the boat and turned to the driver, tapped on the window to get his attention and pointed to the kraken, which at this point was a fair distance away from Ignis has his pathetically small vessel.
"Take us to that thing bud! I'm gonna' finish him off!" The pale driver nodded, Ignis smiled again, well it might not have been anything he would have ever done but the driver was still alive, so Ignis assumed that was why he was actually listening right now. The boat changed direction and sped toward the Sin Spawn, now Ignis was going to be the one to drive this thing back, he was going to make sure of that, the distance was reducing rapidly, in the time he had left Ignis turned back to the driver.
"Keep us movin', circle it and don't stop movin' till I take it down!" He turned back and looked at his foe with a smirk, yes, the driver was doing his job, as long as he kept up this speed Ignis was going to be fine. He began playing on his guitar again, only this time he was not playing heavy music, no, this time he was going to play something a little lighter and a lot more bubbly.
"Hah ha! See whut I did thar!?" Ignis said to himself, he stopped and shook his head, he really had to stop laughing at his own unfunny puns, however, right now he had things to do, he began to play the music he had in mind, swaying in time with his own music.
"Fly me too the moon!" He sent several orbs and several waves of fire in the direction of the Kraken as he circled it, they hit and caught the attention of that which he had already damaged so much, he continued to play his guitar, keeping the music going.
"An' let me play among the stars! Remember me bud!?" He continued to play his guitar as the kraken began to close the distance and attack him, only to miss at the speed the boat was traveling at, Ignis smiled as he continued to pluck at the notes on his guitar, continuing with his own rendition of the song "Fly me to the Moon." Every note played sent a different flaming formation at his foe, keeping it busy enough with the flaming attacks coming its way, keeping it distracted each and every time it tried to attack him. Ignis laughed and continued, he was not going to break here, he had a good jam going, stopping now would be a complete buzz kill.
"In other words. I love youhoo!" He finished off with a small solo, sending off numerous orbs of fire in the direction of the beast, his effort was met with the sound of that inhuman screech as the orbs hit home, sending it reeling for only a second. it thrust one of its tentacles forward with a stabbing motion, Ignis simply fell to his back and struck a pose with his guitar, making it look as though he was ready to have a picture taken. Ignis looked up at the driver, who by this time, was looking at him in shock, Ignis laughed out loud once again.
"Dunno about you dude. But I'm havin' a BLAST!" He said, still laughing as he launched himself up wards, hitting the tentacle has hard as he could with his guitar. The Kraken clearly felt the hit and tried to attack once more, however, Ignis managed to block the hit with his guitar, and for a second time poured as much heat as he could through the appendage until it burned through and fell from the rest of the beasts body. This time he followed up by allowing it to fall into the front of the boat and using it as a footrest so that he could balance his guitar on his left knee as he continued to play.
"Yeah! lets go you killah!" he yelled out, lowering his foot so that he could kick the tentacle off of the small boat, at once the speed of the boat increased without the unneeded weight, once more presenting the beast with a near impossible to hit target. It tried once more to strike Ignis with a stabbing-motion, however, he merely span to the side and struck another pose with his guitar. he stood leaning against his guitar with the fingers on his right hand held like a gun, a big open mouth smile on his face as he stood in silence for a long while and then.
"BANG!" He called, a small explosion hit the tentacle as it was withdrawing, once more the kraken reeled, however, this time it dove under the surface. Ignis' expression dropped as it dawned on him what the beast was doing.
"Ah shit." He stood in silence for a short moment, turned to the driver, pointed at him and yelled.
"Reverse! Throw the thing in reverse!" Ignis was almost thrown from the boat as it stopped suddenly and then turned and went in the opposite direction. Just in time too, as the beast broke the surface it missed the boat by hardly a millimeter, he sighed in what was almost relief and then, turned back to the driver again.
"Kay, get us some distance from the thing and then keep circlin' it!" Ignis adjusted his stance, so that he had himself secured as the driver moved to get some distance between his vessel and the raging beast. Ignis had reverted back to the heavier notes and more intense music of his guitar to keep the flow of fire as rapid as he could until he was able to make sure that he had the advantage. The Kraken, once more tried to stab him, Ignis sighed, and dismissed his guitar.
"I'm gettin' bored of this now! I want Mr. Buzzles back!" This time he jumped and landed on the tentacle, he wasted no time in running forward, as he neared the body of the beast he jumped once more and kicked himself up wards multiple times. He flipped and landed on the very head of the beast, or at least the thought it was a head, he was never able to tell with these things, either it had a head, or just a top. He shrugged and held an open palm in front of himself and waited.
"Yeah! No autographs today peeps!" He yelled as all at once the remaining tentacles reached up to grab him, only to be burned beyond usefulness by a wave of fire as Ignis once more called his guitar to the fray. The creature squealed in pain, Ignis however, let himself one more smile as he held his hand above his head.
"AND NOW! AN IGNIS ORIGINAL! HARD ROCK HALEL- Beh screw it! CHECK OUT THIS MENTAL RIFT!" And he began to play his guitar as fast as he could, his hands moving from string-to-string, from note-to-note, making what he thought of as a good sounding and catchy tune. He already knew what his foe was going through by this point, he had already used this little move on various other monsters that he been able to support his weight. First it started off as a wave of immense heat simply traveling over its body, it would then, to the eyes of others spontaneously burst into flames.
"Don't feel bad there buddy! It's only natural for everyone to fall down to second best when good ol' Ignis is on the scene! Ya lasted longer than most! Feel proud!" he said as the creature continued to burn and squeal, the best part of this was that the fire would not extinguish as soon as the water touched it, nope, it would last a few minutes more as it sank to the depths below. Ignis ended his performance with a flurry of rapidly played notes just as the creature fell silent and began to sink below the surface of the water.
"WOO! I'm a BEAST!" He called loudly, more to himself than anyone and played a few more notes on his guitar, using the sudden burst of pressure from the pillar of fire he had just called beneath his feet he sent himself flying into the air. Yes, his timing hand been perfect the boat he had been on circled around just as Ignis' altitude decreased. He landed loudly on the front of the boat, lying on his side in yet another pose just in time to watch the last of the flaming Kraken to slip almost silently below the surface of the water. Rapidly he got back to his feet, dismissed his guitar, bowed low and then kissed his fingertips before making a mocking gun gesture with his index and middle finger.
