The pilgrimage of a Summoner: a journey to train themselves in the art of summoning by gaining the power of Aeons in hopes of eventually gaining the Final Aeon and defeating Sin. A journey that Kain, a native little Moogle Apprentice Summoner, and his Guardian Laroth had just begun. First stop – Besaid. Home to only a few villagers, the Besaid Aurochs blitzball team and most importantly Besaid’s Temple of Yevon…
Slowly, a large shipped docked on Besaid Island, not too far from the village; a ship that contain Yevon’s newest Summoner; Kain. He shot off the ship first before anyone else could. He flew over the edge and landed down on the beach, his little feet only sinking in very slightly. It was around noon, the sun was high in the sky and the waters were calm. A wonderful and peaceful day, one that made this little Moogle even more excited about today. After all, he wouldn’t want his very first day of exploration ruined by unpleasant weather would he? No. Though, to be honest, it was highly unlikely that it would have affected Kain. There wasn’t a time he can remember that he wasn’t a cheery little Moogle. It’s just a part of his personality; Kain never let’s anything get him down.
‘Oh, my Guardian!’
Kain thought suddenly. He had a Guardian with him for a reason: to protect him. He wouldn’t be able to do his job if the little Apprentice Summoner ran off without him. Laroth would probably be getting off the ship with everyone else the conventional way – on the pier. With rapid flapping of his miniature wings, Kain ascended into flight once more, hovering just over head height so that he could see over the other ship’s passengers in hopes of spotting his Guardian.
“Laroth, kupo! C’mon, the Temple must be at the village, kupo!”
He called out to his companion, hoping to hurry him up a little. It wasn’t his fault; in fact, normally it would be Laroth waiting for Kain. But the Moogle was so excited he couldn’t help flying off so quickly. He managed to prevent himself from zipping across the beach and waited there for Laroth…

Laroth watched birds float through the perfect blue sky effortlessly, the sun over head shot down rays of heat. It was such a peaceful felling on the ship, and the weather was good; but a little too hot for Laroth in his armour as the heat was captured then transferred to his body; but never the less Laroth was quite happy.
As the ship came to a halt Laroth began to walk towards the exit as Kain vanished from his view. Laroth was then caught in the swarm of people trying to get off the large boat, gently pushing between the crowd Laroth made his way towards the front of the cue as his miniature friend called to him already of the boat and on the beach. Laroth’s boot pushed the sand to the side as he stepped onto the beach, walking over to Kain slowly he then stood next to him,
“So…erm…this Temple…err…you do know where it is, right?”
Laroth asked not expecting the Moogle to have a clue, he hadn’t had a clue about any of this Summoner stuff before in the past; it seemed as though Kain was just going with the flow and following what seemed like the right path.
“Ah never mind, of course you don’t know,”
Laroth said without letting Kain reply then smiled as he looked down at him,
“So straight to the temple then? Or can we stop off for food first 'cause I am starved,”
Laroth asked knowing that Kain would probably say no after paying for six meals for Laroth alone on the ship; and the ships food wasn’t exactly cheap either.

Does Kain know where the Temple is? What a joke. Of course he didn't. This was his first time in Besaid, in fact, still technically his first time in Spira. The only other place in Spira he had been was Bevelle. So, on with the random wandering to find some sort of civilization, right? Surely they would find it eventually…
“So straight to the temple then? Or can we stop off for food first 'cause I am starved.”
Seriously, how much food can one guy eat? Is there no limit on a human’s food consumption or something? Kain bought one meal on the trip and couldn’t finish it. Human sized meals were just too much for him and they didn’t have any kupo nuts; they’re Kain’s favourite. It didn’t seem as though Spira was accustomed to having Moogle’s around. Perhaps if he ever became a well-known Summoner, that wouldn’t be a problem. Maybe he could get some popularity for his race.
Now though, Kain dipped his hand into his fur and pulled out his little bag of gil. After untying the string around the top, he tipped out the contents onto his other hand. He stared at it for a second, slienty counting it up before he gazing up at Laroth;
“I think we’re going to have to pass on lunch, you’re meals are way too expensive, kupo!”
With that, the little one dropped the money back in the brown bag and re-tied it. Slipping it back into his fur, it seemingly disappeared. It was weird really. Why didn’t the bag just fall out of his fur? I would tell you why, but it’s a Moogle secret.
“You had better whack some monsters with that huge sword of yours and earn some food, kupo.”
Kain said with a small laugh. But then he noticed something; a lot of the other passengers from the boat that both Kain and Laroth had arrived on appeared to be going the same direction – straight across the beach towards an opening. Kain wasn’t sure where it would lead, from this distance it was hard to see but it looked like there was trees on one side and a river on the other. Since loads of people were going that way, surely it would lead to the village, where else would they be going?
“C’mon, kupo! Let’s just follow everyone else, kupo.”
Kain said with a quick jump and a smile. He then scuttled off after the crowds, assuming Laroth was coming too...

Duke looked around at the place where they had landed. It was lucky Arius had found this large open area in the middle of a jungle. Duke quickly took off his red cape and jacket. It was certainly humid and hot. He then grabbed Diabolos, and looked at it for a moment. he then strapped it to his back and walked to where the trees began. He then called over a small team of moogles which quickly flew over in a flurry of kupos.
"Come along now, if my maps are correct we're on the island of Besaid and there should be a town nearby which can gives some supplies."
"Aye, Aye Capitan! Kupo!" the team said simultaneously.
They then began their trek into the jungle. They went at a pratty slow pace until the trees began to thin out to a road. There they discovered a trail of people walking up the road.
~They must be headed to their village.~
Duke and the moogles quickly followed after the crowd. Duke then spotted a particularly special sight. A nicely dressed moogle in place where they wern't prominent. Behind the moogle was a heavily armed human, presumably his guard. The moogles observed this too. They then decided to follow those two to see where they were going.
~After all, a moogle nicely dressed must have some sort of value.~
As they followed silently they soon came up to a small village with a huge tmeple at the end. A small chorus could be heard echoing is slow melody inside the temple. Duke and his team watched silently within a nearby crowd to watch the moogle and his guardian.
Laroth gazed up at the large temple as he and his companion entered the village, the soft melody of the hymn being sung within the temple reached Laroth as it echoed out. He hadn’t heard this kind of music in a long time; it was soft, slow, peaceful, and yet it was somewhat depressing. Laroth was almost moved to tears, but he held it inside as he looked around; out of the corner of his eye he could swear he saw another Moogle, but he ignored it. After all it wasn’t likely that Laroth really did see a Moogle, Kain seemed to be the only one around.
The two slowly walked up towards the entrance, passing what seemed to be old cloth tents. As the two reached the temple they stopped, Laroth continued to stare at the temple with amazement. It wasn’t so hard to find after all, just cross the beach, then up through the trees; easy. Laroth looked down at Kain and nudged him gently with his foot up his rear,
“You first then, after all you are the all mighty Summoner,”
He joked and smiled, that was a first for him; a smile…

Kain could have sworn he heard the sound of other Moogles on their trek to the village. But, from what he had heard and the funny looks he occasionally got, there were none around here in Spira. Perhaps it was just his imagination playing tricks on him. He decided not to think on it anymore and continue on, presuming he was just missing his kind a little.
But the village took his mind off of these thoughts. The temple was at the end, much larger than the other homes taking priority. This must be very important to them. I mean, really, how could it not? These Temples were what made it possible for a Summoner to defeat Sin. It was a very important building, that’s for sure. Before he knew it, they were stood at the entrance looking inside. Suddenly, Kain felt a boot up the bum. It was surprisingly gentle, yet it made him jump. He sprung up and turned to face Laroth;
“Alright, alright, kupo…”
He replied quickly. He turned and entered the Temple. Though, he paused for a second before he did so. Looking through the gap between his Guardian’s long legs, he noticed someone looking at them. He didn’t think anything of it at first, but he did have a different look to everyone else. Suspicious, but nothing worth telling his Guardian about just yet. Unless he followed them inside...
As he entered the outsized Temple, Kain looked all around, amazed by the beautiful look. There were huge statues at a stairway and people knelt down all around the edges, most of them performing a prayer that Kain recognised. It was one that he learned especially in an attempt to blend in with the particularly religious Yevonites. Wait! Did Laroth know the prayer? Probably not, neither did Kain till recently. Perhaps it would be best to let him know.
“Oh, over here real quick, kupo.”
Kain said quietly to Laroth as he hopped up into flight again. He drifted over to one side, as far away from the other people as possible. Now flying, he kept at head height with Laroth so that he could talk to him without having everyone else listen in.
“Do you know the ‘Yevon Prayer’, kupo? You just put your arms out, then make a circle with your hands and bow, like those guys, kupo.”
Kain whispered in secret to his Guardian. As he finished, he turned his head over his shoulder so that Laroth could follow his line of sight to a couple that were doing the prayer he tried to describe…

Duke thought about these circumstances for a few moments and then a slight smile caught on his face.
"Arius, do you know anything about the pilgrims on these islands?"
"Yes sir, the pilgrims are called summoners kupo. They go from temple to temple praying so that they may summon the final aeon to defeat a most horrible creature from causing damage to their lands. kupo!"
"Ah, so this moogle must be a summoner. Interesting....."
Duke thought again to himself for a moment. Particularly his position. Spira was new to him, however he had to wait out the heat of other nations. Having a summoner on a board would likely draw bad suspicions away from him and his crew. Also an adventure, or pilgrimage helping this moogle out would likely end in pay or treasures.
"Moogles, stay here. I'm off to go greet the summoner."
He then slowly walks in the temple where the chorus echoed about the walls. He looked around and instantly saw the summoner and what appeared to be his escort. He then saw the weariness in the moogle's eyes. He had realized he was following him. Quickly trying to disguise his efforts he watched a Yevonite do a prayer and quickly followed his example and prayed. Though he had no idea to whom he was praying to, he thought he looked pretty convincing. He thought about how to confront the moogle and his escort.
~Oh hello there, I'm Duke Bonaventure and I'd like to escort you through your pilgrimage.... no.~
He looked back through the doorway where he saw his moogle crew waiting.
~Hmmm maybe a moogle presence might raise his disposition.~
He walked out and then got Arius, his first moogle. He showed him the prayer and then brought him in. They then both did the prayer to a statue while keeping an eye on the two over in the corner.
Laroth watched the others pray, it seemed like a random hand gesture for praying; but oh well at least Laroth would blend in a little bit more. Laroth placed his right hand over his left with both palms facing each other, his fingers reaching down to his wrists. Laroth then looked at Kain for confirmation that he had done it correctly.
Laroth looked around the temple interior again, it was magnificent architecture; the likes of which Laroth loved. The arches and carved decoration perfectly hand crafted. Laroth then noticed a man with a Moogle stood at a statue; perhaps Laroth had seen a Moogle not long ago after all and he wasn’t going mad or seeing things. This man looked out of place in the temple; he was wearing what looked like rather expensive clothing and was carrying a rifle on his back.
Laroth slowly walked over to the suspicious looking man and the Moogle; leaving Kain on his own, stood behind the man Laroth kept silent. Laroth towered over the well dressed man with out speaking, trying to intimidate him; Laroth had a feeling that this man had followed them and that’s when he saw the Moogle. Coughing to gain his attention, which he no doubted already had, Laroth then folded his arms. Laroth waited for the man to turn around so that he could get a better look at him.

With a quick nod of approval, Kain noted that Laroth had correctly performed the prayer. Though, it appeared his companion was easily distracted. He wandered off to see someone else. Wait! That was the guy that was following… Huh? A Moogle!? It seemed that he was just as easily distracted as his Guardian. Kain swooped over after Laroth, coming to a stop beside his shoulder, keeping afloat with rapid flaps of his wings. It took a lot of effort really; his wings were small even by Moogle standards.
“Hello, I’m Kain, an Apprentice Summoner, kupo.”
The little creature said as he bobbed up and down in the air with a quite blatantly excited tone. Though, he was kind of wondering what the man and his Moogle friend were doing here. Trying not to sound rude, he phrased the sentence more politely;
“Are you a Summoner too, kupo?”

Duke coughed a little loudly and then turned around to see who was behind, him no doubt that escort. Sure enough there he was trying to act intimidating. What a fool, he was trying to intimidate someone such as himself. He had taken down juggernaughts larger and scarier than him but, he shook it off. Then the summoner came up in his robes and tiny wings. Duke then gave a convincing smile, something he was good at from his acting career.
"Good day to you apprentice summoner, Kain. No, I'm not a summoner if you couldn't tell. No just a simple gentleman, for hire to be more exact. You see, myself and my friend here Arius are actually looking to be escorts for a summoner. Not only would we provide protection but we also have an airship, which can speed off to any island here in Spira of your choosing. Though, I doubt you'll need us considering you have that very strong man you have as a guardian."
He loved playing on people's egos. It looked like he was winning them over with his beguiling charm. It also helped that Arius was there making this Kain more relaxed. Soon they would be basking in treasure and by the end of this journey everyone would likely forget Duke. Therefore he could get back to his smuggling. Besides, there was no harm in helping out a summoner. To be truthful, he honestly thought them to be quite noble. But that was his good and decent side. He must remember not to become too attatched.
Laroth didn’t trust the man stood in front of him one bit, he seemed a little dishonest about his intentions; but Laroth ignored his gut feeling and simply stared at the elegantly dressed stranger. With his eyes locked onto the unfamiliar person, Laroth unfolded his arms and looked to Kain flapping his little wings like a maniac,
“I don’t have any confidence in this man, nor his ability to tell the truth; we have no idea whom he is, were he has come from, or what he does for a living,”
Laroth whispered to his Moogle friend then looked back at the suspicious pair, his eyes scanning over them both again as Laroth looked for evidence that he couldn’t be trusted. But no matter what Laroth felt this was Kain’s choice; after all he was the Summoner, and Laroth was just a body guard. Laroth then turned back to his companion,
“I will be outside if you need me,”
Laroth said then turned to face the entrance, slowly walking over his feet strike the floor rhythmically and his armour clanks.
As he emerged outside the light forced Laroth to close his eyes then look down at the floor to give them time to adjust. As he regained his sight he looked around the village and spotted more Moogles, bizarre, where they with this strange man that Kain was talking to? And why would he have so many Moogles with him? Laroth would have to question this man soon on who he really was…

"You see, myself and my friend here Arius are actually looking to be escorts for a summoner."
So, he wanted to become a Guardian too? Interesting. Kain wasn’t sure what to make of the offer, to be honest. Was he really just that nice of a guy, or did he want something in return? But more importantly, could he even fight? He did carry a rather large gun, well any gun seems large for a Moogle, but still, did he know how to use it effectively? Perhaps a test would be useful… And great entertainment!
“Don’t worry about Laroth, he’s just not the talkative type, kupo.”
Kain replied to the wannabe-Guardian, who still neglected to give a name. He then dropped back to his feet as his wings were getting a little tired.
“I don’t want to sound rude but, well, I don’t know if you’re Guardian material, kupo. I would like to see how good you are, if that’s okay, kupo.”
But how would he test this man? Kain needed a test that would really help him decided whether he would be a good asset. Perhaps it could wait. The little Moogle wanted to become a true Summoner as quickly as possible. That would involve entering the Cloister of Trials, a Summoner and Guardian only zone, and praying to the Fayth for his very first Aeon – very exciting stuff.
“I hope you don’t mind, but I think we’re going to go on to the Fayth, kupo. If you’re still here when we get back, we’ll see about the Guardianship, okay, kupo?”
Kain said, hoping not to offend the man or anything…

Duke then saw he did not win this Laroth over. He held back his disdain keeping a charming personality overh is demeanor. He then listened to the moogle.
~A test eh?~
"If that is your wish then we shall wait. I can be tested just fine. Though you'll seee that there in no better marksman in the world of Gaia the myself. Duke Bonaventure, is my name by the way, apprentice summoner. We shall wait for you in earnest."
He and the moogle Arius then walked out giving a small wave. They passed by the suspicious Laroth and gave him a smile too, though he did not look all to amused.
"I don't think he'll be an easy one to gain trust over capitan. Kupo" the moogle Arius whispered.
"No, I don't think so either, but he'll learn in good time that Duke Bonaventures help, is not something to waste." Duke whipered back.
They then met with the moogle crew who were still waiting there. Duke came up to them and they got in a little huddle they way they always did. Duke then pulled out a large wallet with a decent amount of gil in it. He then gave it to the moogles.
"Please my crew, go about the village. I want you to buy alot of supplies for the trip ahead. I expect alot of food, and more water. Also we shall need abundant amount of ammo. If you cannot come about any then barter for metal. Hopefully we may find an Al-Behd that mind shop with us."
With that the moogles split up into smaller group and went to different vendors around the town. Duke went into a tavern where he sat for awhile. He suspected they would take awhile to get through the faythe so, he bought himself a drink and sat alone.
The doors to the cloyster of trials opened, but rather than you being able to walk in, someone walked out. A man, tall and athletically muscular, scars on his arms and a single one on his face told of his nature. In his arms he held an unconcious summoner. He was armed, and rather intimidating to say the least, his left arm sporteda gauntlet which ended in claw like fingers, a weapon in itself. But tied to his side in its scabbard was a wicked looking katana. He didn't say a word as he walked past you, merely went straight down the stairs and right out the door.
When that little specticle was over it was time for you to face the trials themselves.Inside lay the elevator that would take you downards into the maze of puzzles designed to test the will and strength of a summoner and their guardian couple. One could only hope that you were ready to face this challenge.
[ RP your way through the trials]
[Duke Only]
There was a bit of a comotion outside as the summoner and her guardian headed through the village, the summoner lying in his arms unconcious. He paying no heed to any of the villagers as he stormed a straight line through and out into the forest. It seemed the man wanted to get off this island as quickly as possible. Near you there was a group of people playing cards. A few of their words seemed to catch your ear. " Found em all....cut throats.....sliced up like a nice bird on a celebration platter...".One of the men seemed to crindge.
" So you say they were Al Bhed?...all of them?"
The other nodded. " Aye, had only arrived 3 suns ago...would have said it was a waste, but they're just filthy Al Bhed....probably the machina that turned against them". Another in their game spoke up. " No....no machina did that, it was a man....said to have been washing the blood from his hands in the woman across the ways wash bucket the night he did it...". All laid out their cards on the table.
" Gotta be wonderin though why someone would kill them like that....". A man gave a toothless grin. " Some people are saying it was that summoner's guardian....". The table fell partially quiet but the rest of the bar continued in their noise. " Dangerous lookin fella wasn't he....be glad to see the back of that lot...".
Laroth ignored the strange man and the Moogle as they walked past, the man’s smile seemed smug and sarcastic as he strolled past Laroth. Re-entering the temple Laroth strode over to Kain as a large built man with scars on his arms and face past him; Laroth stopped in his tracks and watched as the man carried the Summoner. At least it would be easier for Laroth if Kain was to fall in battle, he could carry him in one hand and continue to fight. Continuing across the room Laroth arrived at his small companion,
“So…I take it there are going to be monsters down there then?…”
Laroth asked rhetorically after seeing the poor Summoner laid half dead in the arms of her Guardian; Laroth then realised that his job wasn’t going to be as easy as he first thought, but never the less he had made a promise to Kain to protect him, and that is what he was going to do. Laroth knew that if anything were to happen to Kain then he wouldn’t be getting fed.

Well, Duke didn’t seem to mind the whole ‘wait while we pray’ idea - which was good. Though, Kain felt a little anxious as a Guardian left the Cloister of Trials with a Summoner laid in his arms. The little Moogle gulped as he fell into thought. Was it really that dangerous down there? What even was down there? He just hoped that Laroth was a better Guardian than ‘Scarface’.
“So…I take it there are going to be monsters down there then?…”
Kain jumped again as his Guardian was back already. He really was easy to sneak up on and scare. He gazed up at Laroth was a blank face;
“I have absolutely no idea, kupo…”
He began, his usual cheery voice still there but with a hint of hesitation.
“… I guess there’s only one way to find out, kupo…”
The Moogle then shook his head in an attempt to shake away bad thoughts as his pom-pom swayed from side to side violently. Surprisingly, it worked! Kain then marched through the door and turned as he stood on the circular platform that would take them down. There he waited for Laroth to join him, well he didn’t really have a choice about it, the lift didn’t recognise his weight as a person…

Kain seemed surprised as Laroth spoke; Laroth wasn’t even that quiet with his armour on, so how the heck did Kain not hear him? Was Kain going deaf or something? Laroth then watched as Kain’s pompom waved back and forth as the Moogle shook its head fiercely trying to get rid of bad thoughts. Kain then proceeded to the lift as Laroth looked straight up; he took a deep breath then looked forward at the lift as slowly released it.
Stepping towards his little friend, Laroth readjusted his gauntlets and let out a little smile that crept across his face; he was looking forward to a good fight, but not so much the puzzles. Stepping onto the lift Laroth stood at the side of Kain, folded his arms and waited for the lift to go down. As the circular platform started its slow descent Laroth looked up,
“Wonder what kind of creatures are going to be down here…”
He thought out loud as he unfolded his arms and drew his sword, holding it in his right hand in front of his face he ran his gauntlet down the blade checking its sharpness. But with it being Laroth’s weapon he kept it in good shape, always cleaned and sharpened.
“Been a while since I’ve used this, over a week now, feels good to hold it again,”
Laroth then put his sword back on his back and cracked his knuckles as he tilted his head and cracked his neck, he then turned his torso half way round left and right and cracking his spine; loosening up his body ready for a fight…

It was really about to happen: Kain would soon become a real Summoner, not just an Apprentice. All he had to do was pass through the Cloister of Trials and make his way to the Fayth, he just hoped they would see him worthy enough to call upon the Aeons. Like he said before, there was only one way to find out…
Kain suddenly cringed as his Guardian, Laroth, began cracking parts of his body. It was horrible, in fact, it was starting to make him feel a little ill;
“Do you really have to do that, kupo!?
He asked, tilting his head back to call up at Laroth. The tone in voice made it clear that he wasn’t angry with Laroth, no, he was more disturbed by it more than anything. It really was a ghastly sound, one that affects people in nasty ways like nails on a chalk board.
It was only a few seconds before the ‘lift’ came to a stop. They must have been underground by now. Kain hopped off of the platform and bounded down the corridor to a large door, presumably the entrance to the Cloister of Trials. He only put the smallest amount of pressure on the door before it slowly opened by itself. Opening up, it revealed nothing more than a square-shaped room. That couldn’t be it, that would be stupid. Kain leaped up and flapped over to a symbol on the wall which appeared to be four arrows pointing in all four direction spread across a decorated circle.
“What’s this for, kupo…?”
Kain thought out loud, not sure what to make of the pattern. He darted around it trying to figure out what it was or if it did anything, and as soon as he placed his hand on it, the symbol lit up green. He allowed himself to drift back a little so that he could watch as it glowed brightly. With that, writing appeared on the wall to the pair’s right; Kain glanced at it for a second but couldn’t read it. Must have been ancient or something he figured. Though, the writing didn’t stay for long, a part of the wall it was written across shook and then opened up, sliding up to form a doorway.
Taking a quick glance at Laroth, Kain shrugged his shoulders and continued on, travelling a little further into the Trials. The new path that opened led to a set of descending stairs which the little one simply drifted over until he stopped at a spherical orb. He grabbed hold of it with both hands and began to flap his wings at an even more increased speed. The little things went faster than any Man or Moogle alike would have ever seen, in all fairness, you couldn’t see them because they were going that fast it was nothing more than purple blur. The tiny Moogle hovered for a second, lifting the Sphere and trying his best to hold on, but it was simply too heavy for him. A good job Laroth was here, eh?
“Ah! Help, it’s too heavy, kupo!”
Kain called out, obviously talking to his Guardian. As he did so, Kain plopped the Sphere back into it’s slot for Laroth to get instead. It would be much easier that way. Kain just thought: maybe if he could get to the ground before he dropped it, he would be able to roll the Sphere’s round. Then again, stairs seemed fairly popular around here and it would be much less hassle if Laroth was to carry them…

Laroth looked down at Kain after finishing his pre-fight cracking, not saying anything he then looked forward again as their decent came to an end. Kain jumped off of the platform and bounded down the passageway to the huge door, Laroth simply followed him in a less enthusiastic way. Stood at the entrance to the square room Laroth watched as Kain flapped around looking at a symbol on the wall,
“Not very…hmm…how do I put this?…err …exciting…”
Laroth mocked at the empty room to himself; suddenly Kain placed his hand on the symbol causing it to light up green and a strange writing on a wall to show. Laroth walked up behind Kain as the writing faded and a part of the wall it was written across opened up to form a doorway. The little Moogle then shrugged at Laroth and went through the newly formed doorway.
Laroth followed his companion down the set of stairs towards an orb, Kain tried to lift it; but it seemed to be too heavy for him as he began to flap his wings faster and faster. Kain slowly began descending as he held the orb; the look of effort on his face was priceless. Laroth laughed quietly to himself
“Ah! Help, it’s too heavy, kupo!”
Kain called out as he placed the orb back where he grabbed it from, Laroth strolled over and picked it up in one hand,
“…it’s not that heavy…”
Laroth then looked down at Kain on the floor resting his little wings,
“…oh sorry, you just made it look like it was going to weigh loads…”
Laroth smiled then awaited Kain’s instructions of what to do with this ‘extremely heavy’ orb. Holding it in his left hand he let it rest next to his thigh, his clawed gauntlet gripped around it.

OOC: AGH sorry guys, I've been really busy with stuff lately and I didn't realize there was an admin post. I really didn't mean to hold you all up. I hope you all can forgive me. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Duke listened intensely to the words around him. Listening was one of his greatest weapons, because if you listened to the people around you, you knew what was happening. He heard a group in the corner playing cards. He glanced over while having a sip of his Madiera wine that he had just ordered leaving a large some of gold that made the bartender's eyes widen. They mentioned the summoner that had just walked out of the temple a short while ago.
~Interesting.... I wondered why that man was traveling so fast. Besides, it's Al-Behd, maybe I can do these poor folks a favor while they're in there praying... the villagers here would probably give me a safe house here when things become bad .....~
Duke silently walks out leaving the wine on the counter, it's dark red color shimmered light through the glass. He walked out the door. He quickly discovered one of his moogle crew mates.
"Which way did the Al-Behd summoner and guardian head off to?"
"To the forest in that direction Capitan! Kupo!"
Duke nodded and then swiftly started a brisk walk over in the forests direction where he spotted some footprints in the grass. He looked up to see that brush had been moved as well. He assumed that the trail started here. He slowly walked along the path that was already made by the previous travelers. He looked around his surroundings, the sunshine pouring through the forest. Seeing nothing seemed close he continued walking. He kept walking utill the trees became less dense and a clearing could be seen ahead. He slowly pulled his rifle out of its holster on his back. He cautiously walked silently over to the clearing where the Al-Behd had made camp. There were several assortments of machina items that were generally around these camps. He had generally good realtions with Al-Behd. He had several smuggling deals with them before, and had worked with them and occaisionally stayed with them when he was being hunted by bounty hunters. He remember the girl that had first taught him to speak Al-Behd. It was one of his first smuggling operations. The planning took several monthes and he stayed with that particular group for that time. He had learned quickly, like a natural at it, though he still had quite a bit of trouble at it. He walked a bit further as he saw the pair of Al-Behd in the middle of camp. The Guardian was tending to the summoner. Duke quickly put the rifle in his holster. If they were friendly Al-Behd, he certainly did not want to provoke a fight of anysort unless it was neccesary.
"Rammu drana, tu oui haat yho ramb ?" (Translation: Hello there, do you need any help?)
He stood cautiously looking at the guardian, he awaited an answer, his hand twitching ready to grab Diabolos if need be.
OOC: Unfortunatly you misread >_> the gaurdian killed Al Bhed, they arn't Al Bhed themselves
The gaurdian's eyes turned to you the moment you spoke Al Bhed. The summoner was lying unconcious against a palm tree. The moment you saw his eyes, you realised the mistake you had made, this man was definatly not an Al Bhed. His sword quickly slid from his sheath, a wicked sharp katana that looked as if it could slice through bone and flesh with relative ease.
On his arm, a gauntlet thats fingers ended in claws. He seemed to have choosen you as an enemy. The words in Al Bhed had condemned you in this mans eyes....he was protecting his summoner..specifically from Al Bhed...but why? There wasn't time to think. only time to fight. To survive.
Boss Battle: Duke VS Guardian of Adiona, Zero BGM: Otherworld
Information: In this fight you are clearly outmatched. It isn't about winning, merely surviving. The guardian has various sword and claw attacks, both close and long range. His attack pattern seems to be that of a berserker, unrelenting in his attacks.
Abilities:
Midnight Grip: A move using Zero's claw gauntlet, enables him to stop a sword or other melee weapon by grabbing it with his claw. This can be further utilized to disarm the opponent and throw their weapons elsewhere.
Midnight Punisher: Zero blocks an enemies melee attack using his gauntlet claw, and rather than disarming the enemy, he turns their own attack back at them. ( Still requires a higher word count for block and counter, but if it is higher the counter auto hits, only applicable to melee attacks).
Defiance: A quick draw slash from Zero's sword, charged with magical energy. The slash can be used at close range, or longer range, the magical energy carrying outwards in a visible cresent blade of energy.
Ultimatum:In a similar manner to defiance Zero charges the claws of his gauntlet with the same magical energy. Then making a quick slicing motion he fires off a wave of crescent energy that cuts down anything in its path.
Absolution The final attack in this ability line. Absolution sees Zero enter a berserkers fury, charging at the enemy and unleashing line after line of energy slashes with both his sword and claw. This rage ends by unleashing the remaining power of the attack in a jumping stab to the ground which unleashes dark energy in a powerful explosion
Additional Information: You must dodge and escape his attacks to survive, you may control what attacks he uses but you may NOT control what he says or the summoner. In order to escape this battle you must write a total of 600 words.
( ooc: Don’t worry about it Duke, its fine. You’re forgiven, :) )

Sometimes Laroth could be quite irritating, this was on of those times. Did he really have to mock a Moogle’s physical strength? The sarcastic comment was quite unnecessary. Kain would have loved to rant at Laroth for his lack of Moogle-friendliness, but he couldn’t. He did see the funny side to it. And it wasn’t often that Laroth was smiling or joking. Perhaps this time he would let it slide.
Now though, it was time to move on. They had a Sphere… not that they had any idea what to do with it. Kain was currently sat down, his tiny wings twitching little from being over-worked. Looking up at Laroth, it was quite clear that he was waiting for Kain to lead the way. But it wasn’t like he knew any more about this than his Guardian. It wasn’t exactly a great idea pairing both an inexperienced Summoner and Guardian that happen to both be foreign to Spira. Never the less, Kain would do his best.
“Don’t look at me, I have no idea what it does, kupo…”
Hopping back to his feet, the little Moogle prepared to move on. Obviously he refrained from flying; it didn’t seem like a particularly smart idea with them aching so much. If there was one thing he would change, it would be the size of his wings. Flying long distances was impossible with these little things.
“Okay, let’s go, Kupo.”
Kain said, and with that, he turned from the Sphere’s resting place to continue down the stair set. But as soon as he began, he realised exactly what that strange ball was for. Just at the bottom was another door, this time with a round hole the exact same size as the Sphere that Laroth was holding. There was no way it was just a crazy coincidence – the Sphere was a key! But… isn’t that just pathetically easy? Surely these puzzles would get harder than that. Kain didn’t even bother to tell Laroth what he had worked out, he would just seem stupid pointing out the obvious. Laroth would have surely worked it out for himself…

OOC: Sorry Admin. I misread, of course. I promise, I'll pay better attention next time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Duke quickly saw the man get to his feet and grab his sword. His whole entire arm was covered in dark metal. Then he acted. The man quickly ran up to him his sword held in a masterful manner.
"Hold there!" Duke shouted, the man had swung at him, but Duke had side stepped the attack and jumped back grabbing Diabolos. The man quickly kept up the attack charging his sword with magical energy and then using his move Defiance. Duke quickly dodge rolled the attack, just barely missing him. Duke's mind finally settled into focus. This was a dangerous situation, the man was obviously a master swordsman. He quickly dodged another quickly as he thought. He noticed the bladesman kept up his attack relentlessly. For some reason he showed absolute disdain for him. He had no idea why. He dodged again, and again and ducked as the swordsman did a high slashes toward his head. The swordsmans attacks kept getting faster, faster, and faster still. Duke rolled back as the man used his Defiance attack which sent another cresent ray at him which Duke ducked and covered, allowing the blast to go over him. He kept up with the swordsman matching his will and speed. Duke had been used to the speed, he was a pirate, he had to make speedy retreats. The swordsman kept up the impressive sword play as Duke dodged. He eventually was back up againt a very large tree. The man seeing him cornered him going in for a stab. Duke with great agility dodge rolled very quickly at the last moment. The man had gotten it briefly stuck in the tree. Duke noticed the easiness it had cut through the tree.
~What is that blade?...~
Not many swords were tempered enough to slide completely into a tree with ease. All the more reason to keep as much distance from the man as possible. Duke noticed that the man was quickly getting his sword out staring him down with intense hatred.
"Exit stage right!" he said as he ran off in the direction. He was going to try to get enough distance away from this lunatic.
~Why, in every country must I be hunted down or in trouble every time I land on one?~
He noticed the man running swifty after him with impressive speed. He kept on slashing with enormous power crecent blasts of energy out of the sword. Duke would occaisionally dodge behind a a moss covered boulder for cover but overall kept running for his life. The man was closer sending more Defiance blasts at him. The last one hit the ground beneath Duke. Duke was sent sprawling next to tree.
~Oh that will most definately hurt tomorrow morning, or even longer.~ His legs throbbed, pained from the blast the magic had made. Duke got up sort of slowly as the bladesman ran over to him. He looked extremely moved now. Almost like he dared Duke to run again. Unfortunately Duke would not agree to that proposition. He booked it again going the same direction in which he ran. He kept it up dodging and running, running and dodging until he had reached the clearing again. He stopped in the clearing as the man quickly caught up. The man had finally reached his limit chasing him. He went into a beserk mode, his Absolution attack. He swiftly was charged with magical energy and began swiping at almost blurring speeds. Duke quickly jumped back trying to avoid the attack. He unfortunately was unable to dodge his claw that caught on to his shirt. The claw had sliced some deep gashes in his arm. He backed up as the man kept trying to slice him. He nearly lost his footing because they happened to have the camp near a cliff. The rock face was on the island leading to a small bit of a fresh water area down below. Duke thinking fast jumped off as the man stabbed the ground releasing some sort of dark energy wave. Duke dived like a swan into the water, which surprisingly was deeper than he expected. Normally pirates did not like to swim, but Duke had learned to long ago in Lindblum. Keeping under the surface for as long as he could he swam a distance looking up through the watery surface to see the man had looked down at the cliff and had stopped his chase. As soon as Duke was sure he was out of sight of him he resurfaced, gasping for air. His lungs had hurt. He had coughed up the stale air and gasped for more. He slowly trudged out of the water all soaked in wet. Diabolos which he had returned back to his holster while he ran, would have to be wiped out to prevent rusting. He was in over all a very bad mood. He slowly hiked back up the cliffside back to the village, where he was greeted by his moogle crew. They kupoed in worry as he had told them he was fine. They fetched him a cloth which he bound his arm to stop the bleeding. They escorted him to the nearby tavern again for him to rest.
~That is the last time I listen to people playing cards. Hmph.~ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post count: 889 Thread Count:2570 OOC: When I mention the attacks, Duke doesn't actually know the names of his abilities. I just put them in there to make it easier.
( ooc: Sorry guys, myself and Laroth have just started back at college so have been a little busy. I promise that we'll get back to this as soon as possible. Again, apologies for lateness. )
Laroth watched as Kain bounced off without him, following at a distance with the orb in his hand Laroth stepped down the stairs cautiously. As he reached the bottom he found Kain staring up at a circular hole in the wall, looking down at his hand Laroth then lifted the orb and pushed it into the hole; as he did another glyph flashed up and the door opened by its self as the symbol began to fade.
Walking through the door Laroth took the orb out just in case they would need it again. Laroth and Kain now found them selves in a corridor with the old writing on the walls; Laroth walked down the hall slowly, as he came to the first corner he peeked round before actually walking round. Laroth then noticed another right turn at the end of this hall and on his left another pedestal with a circular hole with more of the ancient symbols above it; stepping round the corner Laroth then strode over to the pedestal. Looking at it he placed the orb inside and the wall lifted up, curious as to what was around the other corner Laroth walked away from the open hole with out looking in the wall and leaving Kain there on his own. As Laroth went round the corner he found another pedestal and a block of the ancient symbol opposite, just past that was another corner.
“Wait here, I will do this,”
Laroth told Kain with authority as he began to walk down the hall. Laroth then stopped at the symbols and stared at them, Laroth took his hand and dragged his clawed gauntlet over the old writing; as he did another glyph emerged and the wall moved up. Laroth looked in to find a small room with blue lights running across the floor, walls and ceiling all of them leading to an orb in the centre of the back wall. Laroth grabbed the orb in his left hand then walked back out of the room as all the lights faded. As he re-entered the hallway he looked over at the pedestal right in front of him, it seemed a little too easy, but what the hell; Laroth placed the sphere in the hole. The wall in front of him then began to fade and lots of the writing overlapped each other before they too faded. The new room behind had three flag like tapestries hanging down on each side, all of them in the same dark red material; and each of them with a symbol stitched into the centre. Laroth then moved over to the corner he had yet to go round, as he turned the corner he saw a wall with symbols he had never seen in this temple; they seemed larger. Laroth walked down to the symbols and placed his hand on them, but it was no use, these symbols needed something different.
Stumped at what to do Laroth travelled round the corners back to his little friend still stood at the first wall Laroth had opened. Looking inside Laroth saw another orb, but this one was red. Picking it up Laroth walked back to the room that had the lights running across the floor, walls and ceiling all of them leading to the hole in the centre of the back wall where an orb once sat. Slowly walking across the stone floor Laroth then placed the red orb in the wall; one light lit up and left the room to Laroth’s left, but this light was purple in colour. A sound echoed through the corridor as though something had fallen, Laroth ran round to the wall that once had the symbols on to find that he had destroyed it; behind it sat a small room with a chest, intrigued as to what was sat inside the chest Laroth wandered over. Pulling open the lid Laroth found a little nut of some kind, thinking it may be important Laroth picks it up and places it in his pocket.
Laroth moved back to the room with flag like tapestries hanging down. Laroth lent on the pedestal with the orb in as he looked down the room, with his body weight on the stand it began to move forwards; Laroth continued to push it into the room and stopped in the middle. Looking ahead of him he noticed a square hole in the floor, roughly the same size as the base of the pedestal he was holding. Laroth then continued to push it forwards until the pedestal sat perfectly in the hole, it then began to sink into the ground,
“Kain, come ‘ere!”
Laroth called to his companion with delight after all his hard work had paid off; a symbol filled most of the floor as another circular lift emerged beneath Laroth

The next elevator down would be at first sluggish and normal. However the moment it seemed to pass from one area into another, the sounds that were the hymn of the fayth filled your ears. How these spirits sung long past dead no one quite understood. However it was a holy thing, that sent shivers up even the bravest man's spine. In the middle at the other end of the room, stood the crystal door way which would part for a summoner...
Beyond its gate the summoner would pray to the fayth, for a way to defeat sin. And for ultimate peace in Spira. Many had trodden this path before. And now it was your turn. Summoner....pray to the fayth and recieve your aeon!
As Kain had assumed, Laroth placed the orb in the spherical opening, and as soon as he did so, the door opened by itself. Now, since Laroth was the one doing all the work with the Sphere it only made sense for him to take the lead for this part of their journey. Besides, Kain didn’t think of himself as someone who would be good at puzzles like this. Well, puzzles in general. It just wasn’t one of his strong points, to be honest.
The doorway led into a hallway that seemed very similar to where they just came from. The walls and such were all the same colors with ancient writing across the walls and multiple Spheres to fit in various locations. The cute little Moogle simply bounced down the hallway alongside his Guardian, Laroth. He looked round as he passed a few of these glowing orbs, thinking about how to solve this puzzle. Though he couldn’t have solved it all in that time, he did have one suggestion; Kain looked up at Laroth and raised his puny hand as if he were a child in a classroom and opened his mouth to speak… But Laroth beat him to it;
“Wait here, I will do this,”
Oh… Okay, sure. That’s what Kain thought, but didn’t say. Anyway, his companion had already begun wandering off to see what he could make of a few things. This left Kain stood there, not doing much, and waiting for his Guardian to do the work. He decided to fall back lazily into a sitting position, and just gazed ahead of him, drifting off into a world of thought…
Suddenly, Kain jumped up as he heard his name called! It seemed only a matter of seconds when he had been day dreaming. Obviously, it must have been a little longer than that. Well, it didn’t really matter, the little one sprang to his feet and dashed over to Laroth with a huge smile across his face.
“Done already, kupo?”
He asked, clearly a rhetorical question. It was plain to see that Laroth had solved the Sphere puzzle since there was now another lift that led further down. It gave Kain the feeling he was close, he could not only hear them, but feel the Fayth within him. It was almost time; Kain was getting close to becoming a true Summoner. Although it would be embarrassing to admit, the Moogle was distracted from this for a second. He could smell something delicious. What was it? And where was it?
As Kain stepped onto the platform beside Laroth, the lift rumbled a little before it slowly descended. Although excited and quite nervous about what would happen next, Kain couldn’t help but realise that the tempting smell was stronger than before. The only thing on the lift beside himself was Laroth. What did he have? The tiny Moogle hopped up to flutter in front of hid friend’s face. Kain didn’t speak, but had a puzzled look on his face. He sniffed twice, trying to locate the delicious item. Quickly, he darted around Laroth, sniffing away each time he stopped until he came to a definite stop flying at his Guardian’s side. Kain shoved his hand into Laroth’s pocket and pulled out the nut he had found. The fluffy creature then zipped up so that he was just out of Laroth’s reach as he looked down at him;
“Where’d you find this delicious treat, kupo?”
Kain asked as he pulled the nut up in front of him, holding it both hands. He didn’t even bother to ask Laroth if he could have it, nor if he could eat it, but he began munching on it like a hungry squirrel anyway. After all, what was he going to do with a Moogle nut?
“A Kupo Nut, kupo! They’re my favourites, kupo!”
The excited ball of fluff called as he took a breath. Immediately after, Kain continued to chomp on the nut he ‘found’. It wasn’t long before he ate the whole thing… And realised that he was hovering in one spot. Taking a quick look down, he soon found out that Laroth had no choice but to continue down with the lift and was looking surprisingly small at the bottom. Kain quickly leaned forward and dove down head first. He flew down and swooped his body round to land beside Laroth at the bottom.

As Kain darted around Laroth, he sniffed frantically at Laroth’s pockets. Kain’s little furry hand then dove in to Laroth’s pocket. Kain grabbed the nut and moved away. Laroth stared as Kain then flew in the air with his little wings flapping behind him, a look of excitement sat on his face as he munched on the Kupo Nut Laroth had found in a treasure chest. Kain simply lingered in the air as Laroth continued down on the lift, Laroth then looked forwards again as the lift began to slow before reaching its stopping point.
Laroth stood still as the beautiful hymn of the fayth filled his head as it echoed through out the room. In the middle of the wall directly opposite Laroth stood a crystal door, the light glistened and was reflected back. Laroth watched as a feeling of peace over whelmed him, his body started to become numb and he found it hard to move. Suddenly he was snapped back to reality as Kain appeared next to him seemingly from nowhere.
