He caught her as she fell, it happened. Or so he had read, when an Aeon accepted their host fully. It was an interesting phenomenon. He carried her down the stairs. It would likely be awhile before she recovered. He knew she wouldn't want to waste time. So, he placed her in a bed in the temple, headed through the jungle to the docks. Here he ensured their transport and began to move their meger luggage as the day moved on. Eventually he arrived for the last time, lifting up Adiona's unconcious body and carrying her back onto the boat.
Whilst on the boat he went down below and placed her into the bed to the lower left, whilst placing his own belongings on a bed to the right. He took his sword out of its sheath, and began to oil the blade against rust, it was required on journey's like this especailly ones by sea. The thing about the pilgrimidge was that the majority of the places they visited were only accessable by boat. However after they reached Luca, they would be able to travel on foot most of the way. He thought that might be a test for the summoner. He however was used to such methods of travel. He eyed the summoner.
" Will she be strong enough for the trials that are to come?".
He shrugged...looked at the floor. The captian sounded the bell, and he felt the ship shift off the docks. He stood up and made his way up to the decks. This time he wanted to be prepared if Sin attacked. The last time it had taken him by suprise, he wanted to make sure that such an event never occured again. It had almost ment the end of his journey. The end of Adiona's pilgrimidge. This didn't happen. However the cost had been the safety of the people in Bevelle. He shook his head. Weighed up his options. There wasn't much going on his side as far as that went. So. He'd continue to make such decisons. Even if it meant the lives of others, the safety of the summoner was paramount.

The docking of the ship stirred her awakening her from the visions and dreams she had, Valefor was all she could see now. In her dreams Valefor came to her in fayth and aeon form speaking to her about her pilgrimage, perhaps they were just illusions from her lack of rest. Adiona rose from the bed in the ship grabbing her summoner's stave as she did, rubbing her eyes with her free arm the summoner began to slowly ascend to the open air. It was as she walked Adiona came to ponder on how she had actually gotten here, the last thing she remembered was exiting the chamber and then it all went black. Must have passed out she thought which means that Zero carried her here, it was his job after all as guardian to make sure Adiona did not come to any harm during her pilgrimage. Upon emerging she noticed they were now docked at Kilika which meant Ifrit lay in Kilika temple ahead of them, keeping her expressions hidden the young summoner glanced to Zero. Walking slowly she stood beside him for a few moments just looking out to Kilika, a small crowd had gathered to greet the ship...the faces of the crowd seemed to tell a tale of sorrow and woe. Refusing to feel pity Adiona walked down the ramp and off the ship, giving the sign of Yevon as good practice when it was given to her. Her pilgrimage had begun with the joining of Valefor and now the real journey began, no longer could she hold off accepting her fate...it was now or never. It wasn't just the whole of Spira counting on her and a few other summoner's, but also the fact that this would have to be done again in ten years time. When would this end? How many more summoner's had to die? These questions of course did not really plague Adiona, she knew what had to be done and would do it with her head held up high.
"Shall we venture into Kilika....we may be needed."
When they docked in Kilika the devistation was one of the most natable things, it seemed that Sin had passed by here recently. The people on the ship were shocked, their faces filled with grief, clearly some of them had family in this place. Well this was the way it was to be. Some things were merely inevitable. Sin was to attack and destroy. Such was the cycle of death that Spira was caught up in. Shortly after docking he heard a door to the lower decks open up behind him. The sailors had mostly stayed away from that door so that meant it could only be one person. His summoner. He rested his hand on his swords hilt looking out as the sun began to set in the distance. They had been sailing the high seas all day, and had gotten to Kilika in good time. He listened to Adiona. They might need them? That only meant one thing. A sending.
" As you say, doesn't look like its been long since Sin passed through here....seems it wasn't quite content with damaging Bevelle....".
He went silent after that for a few moments, walking off the boat and down into the docks. The men who were on the boat that had taken them to besaid had blamed him for the devistation of Bevelle, for cutting off the wires and saving their own hides. In truth they probably all knew the truth, that even if they had held on it would only serve to have them dragged to the depths and smashed across the rocks. Sin wouldn't have been stopped. It would have reached Bevelle regardless of their sacrifice. Still, even though he continued to tell himself that he couldn't come to believe it any more than they sailors. He carried some sort of guilt with him fr that. Perhaps it was simply the guilt of failing to try.
At these times he would have liked to have thought that what he did was the only logical decision to be made. However as his father had told him long ago. Sometimes logic isn't the only thing that governs our feelings. Our hearts make a difference as well. He looked over to Adiona, she was certainly less gung ho about her travels now. Perhaps she had finally came to realise just what the pilgrimidge was. Maybe one day he would as well. For now all that governed his thoughts on this journey was- holding on, not strong enough, a scream, the rushing torrents of water carrying away all he had ever known or cared for- the memory of his family. And his hatred. A will for vengenace.
Some had warned him against this path, saying it would lead to an empty existance...but how could such an existance be empty in a world where what he sought vengeance again could never die? His eyes narrowed as he looked over at some of the children who were crying over simple things. A boy whos Blitzball had drifted out to sea. Zero looked over at him, unbuckled his sword and claw. Streched and then dived into the water. It was cold, the water rushing by his hair. He hadn't gone far when he started to drift by the first of the bloated drowned corpses. He pushed them out of the way, looking at the death faces of each one before finally reaching the Blitzball. He swam back to shore and passed it to the boy. They both looked at each other. No words were exchanged. None were needed.
It was these small things that life livable for the Spirans in a life ruled by Sin. And these small things that had to be maintained. In his small way he had made life easier for the boy. But the boy hadn't made things any easier for him. Drifting through the water, looking at the faces of each corpse. Only reminded him of searching among the bodies for his own family. He had to wonder just how many children were doing the same at the moment.

Night was falling the sending needed to be done quickly, the longer left the more chance of those fallen becoming fiends. Pulling her summoner's stave from her back Adiona followed the small crowd into Kilika, the closer she got the more floating coffins she saw. Decorated with pink and purple flowers the cries of loved ones sounded around the docks, turning her head to Zero she looked to him. Not for reassurance for she knew what she had to do perhaps it was just to make sure he was still there, turning back around Adiona looked to those begging her for the sending. Nodding she held her head up high, bending down she pulled black boots off placing them to the side. Picking up her long black stave the summoner took to the water, her pale feet walking across it as though it were the ground itself. Silence now as they watched and waited. Leaning backwards lightly Adiona pushed her stave out in front of her twisting it around her body, this was a dance she learnt long ago but never had to do until now. As the pyreflies began to emerge the cries of the crowd started up once more, Adiona could not focus on this she still had to finish the sending. With a burst of energy the water lifted her up a few feet into the air, her sapphire eyes closed for most of it Adiona continued to twirl the stave around her body. An elegant dance but also one showered with sadness and grief, slowly opening her eyes the fountain of water below her gently placed her back down onto the surface.
It was over. Turning around Adiona walked back onto the docks picking up her knee high boots, not even putting them on she walked past the crowd as they bowed to her. Only lightly bowing herself Adiona kept her eyes ahead of her, she wasn't sure how to feel about this. Really though she didn't need to feel anything...she just had to do it and then get on with her pilgrimage.
A Sending was required to ferry the lives taken by Sin, and was greatly appreciated by the survivors. There were no appluase for the dance for the dead, no grateful words of cheer or praise. The docks were eerily calm, still in a state of awe for the devistantion taken place not too long ago. For many, there was nothing left, except to rebuild and move on for a better tomorrow.
Several walkways were rebuilt after the chaos, each leading to home plots or shops of some kind. Few led to the shore lined with thick foliage and jungle. A path of sand dirt could be seen from a distance. The path was fiend littered, one would say, but not an impossible path to press through. The temple shrouded by thick trees was the desired destination, though for the crippling blow dealt to the village, the jungle was unnaturally calm and still. No creature stirred.
The path to the Temple was waiting.
-Make your way to the Temple. -Beware of fiends and 'other' surprises.
There was no way to Kilika temple other than directly through the lush forest area ahead of them. Well that wasn't quite the bad news. On a good day he would be quite willing to go through asuch an area near sun set. If only to take in the beauty of the isles natural landscape. However...things were taking a more difficult turn with the fact sin had passed by recently. The creature always meant that fiends would be gathering, and that would be the lighter side of things. If they were unlucky enough they might even trip over an unawakened Sin Spawn.
Sin spawn. Creatures made when pieces of Sin fall off. Powerful fiends. Moreso than any other. He'd fought them before and didn't quite look forward to the fact he may be facing off against another one. He watched Adiona perform the sending. Trying not to think too much, keeping his eyes on the background of the skyline rather than the actual summoner dancing. Brought back too many painful memories. And he could do with his wits about him for the danger that they would no doubt be soon facing. When she was done he began to walk down the path towards the Jungle.
" Com'on...I don't particularly want to be having to wade through the bushes in the dark to get to the temple...with Sin passing by there will be a lot of hungry fiends out there..".

Resting back against one of the wooden houses Adiona slid her boots back on as they prepared to move onwards, Kilika temple was there next stop on their pilgrimage. Even though she had rested her mind had been constantly awake, she needed her wits about her who knows what type of fiends lay ahead. Making sure her summoner's stave was secured Adiona pushed herself off the wall of the house, looking ahead she saw Zero and ran to catch up with him. They needed to make it to the temple before nightfall, it was also a good chance to perhaps try and be more social. All her life Adiona had not been one to mingle but being alone with Zero she needed some sort of conversation, the others who had started as her guardians had soon dwindled away to only him. They were useless and Adiona did not need weaklings like them, she needed guardians who were strong enough to keep going regardless of their own feelings. She could still hear their cries but they were soon out of earshot as her and Zero continued to Kilika temple, really Adiona didn't know what to say. With not being very social she wasn't exactly the friendliest of all people, still this would be practice for her.
"I...well never did say thank you for pushing me out of the way from that net on Besaid, I'm just not that used to social interaction really. So yeah thank you for saving me."
It felt kind of embarrassing to say it as though she was a school girl again, still it was said so she shrugged her shoulders back and looked ahead.
There wasn't much to say about it really, so all he replied with was a swift but quiet. "Don't worry about it". He was rather suprised at her thanks, her rebuke had been harsh for knocking her down. Yet it seemed as time went on Adiona was begining to realise the sheer size and nature of the summoners pilgrimidge. And why there were very few summoners who dared to attempt it without a guardian. His eyes constantly scanned their surroundings as the dark began to close in on the orange skies of kilika. Human eyes wern't suited to combat in the dark, only constant movement would allow them to adjust without losing an eye for minor details. He looked at her, a blushed face. He supposed that he might as well try to start up some sort of conversation with her.
" So....not that we've had much time to talk since we left Bevelle...but hows things been since I saw you last?".
He didn't really need an answer to that, he could all but guess. Things were never easy in those classes. He doubted things had much changed since he had left. " Personally....I thought I might become a summoner when I left....heh.....". It had been true, after being expelled from the temples classes he had thought of joining that special class of people Adiona belonged to now. " But I knew better....I wasn't experienced enough as it was.....sure I could hold a sword and wield it with some skill...but I didn't have what it took to last the journey...". They were about half way through the jungle now. Him still keeping his eyes open for any impending dangers. " So....instead I hopped a boat out of Spira and travelled a bit as a mercenary...". Now that life hadn't been of much ease to him either. There were some nights when no work meant no food. And no food meant no strength. Which in turn meant no work. A deadly cycle.
" I learned what I could....then I came back here...deciding it was time to come face to face with the creature of my nightmares...".
He shook his head, it was begining to rain. Something that didn't happen too much in Spira. And when it did rain it usually meant a storm. Tropical climates like theirs just inivited the sun. But also hurricanes. They'd be fine in the well build stone of the temple. He saw the flames of the temple coming into sight. " Its strange you know....I thought we would have at least seen another summoner by now...". This brought another thought. The net. The Al Bhed. Lack of summoners? Were the Al Bhed kidnapping summoners?
Post by Lady Summoner Adiona Duer on Jun 14, 2009 11:16:14 GMT
He seemed different to her now not the same man that had left Bevelle, he was wiser yes but of course he had been travelling around Spira and knew certain customs. Adiona only having left Bevelle a few days ago knew nothing of the other cities...other than what she had read in books. Trying to keep up with Zero the young Adiona quickened her pace, hearing what he had to say she opened her mouth to speak.
"Well I guess not much has happened...classes went as normal after you left. Of course they put some rules in place so the same incident didn't occur again, after you left was around the time I decided to train to become a summoner and well...here we are."
Laughing quietly under her breath Adiona curled her white hair behind her ear, it was unnerving that Zero and herself were the only ones on the path but it was getting dark. Zero's words about other summoner's struck a chord within her, he was right why hadn't they come across any yet.
"I'm not sure why...perhaps they are resting at the temple...we are sure to bump into another one sooner or later. Otherwise the survival of Spira really does depend on me..."
At the numerous steps leading to the temple, gifts and offerings lined the path in the coming of the summoner. In these dire times, the people took take away from their rebuilding to look upon that face of what was hoped to be their deliverer from Sin. Desperation clung to their weary faces. Some were adorned with tears while others were too frightened or unworthy to look upon their savior. Yet regardless, all their hopes and wants were the same; to be rid of Sin once and for all.
Those knowledgable of the summoner's path offered words of encouragement, for their knew the dreaded end that awaited. And while they could dare not speak it aloud, they knew.
Yet laden within the crowd was a danger. Once carefully hidden between the many gfits wrapped to tenderly and placed so percariously. A not so thoughtful gift ready to go off with the press of a button. -----------
Her arrival at the temple was much more welcoming and aqccepted than it had been in besaid. Immediatly that was setting off alarm bells. There hadn't been much commotion in the town, so how could they have known who was coming. Let alone have known precisely who she was. His suspisions concerning the Al Bhed were bad enough, especially after their kidnapping attempt that he had barely thwarted.
And he had no doubt that if he had not killed them whilst they slept. Another attempt would have been made. Would they face the same rude awakening here in Kilika? He didn't know. But at the same time, the spiran warrior didn't WANT to know.
For now he'd keep his eyes open, scanning the crowds for any suspisious activity. He knew that Al Bhed stuck out in a crowd due to their eyes and clothing, but it didn't take much to disguise these and make them blend in with a crowd. He looked down to the gifts laid down. He moved his head down to Adiona's level and whispered in her ear. " Thank them for their kindness and their gifts....but let the temple priests carry them in...I don't trust this crowd one bit...".

The gifts lining the temple stairs were amazing and some of the villagers must have done without to provide these gifts, it was a sombre thought but one which Adiona could not dwell on. The young summoner knelt down to look at each gift carefully but as she rose to get back up she heard Zero whisper. Looking to him briefly she looked back to the gifts and then to the temple priests, smiling she motioned for them to help pick the gifts up. Toys from children, food for the journey ahead...and in some cases even gold. Once over Adiona would have taken the gold and pushed the rest aside but now...after seeing the destruction Sin had caused it made her resolve stronger. Looking around at the small crowd Adiona made the sign of Yevon before turning around to head inside the temple. It was refreshing to see another temple even though they were designed the same way, Kilika had its own essence branded onto it. With Ifrit being the fire aeon most of the temples lights were red and orange along with markings of the aeon. Adiona looked at these as she entered the temple all of the same statues stood tall and proud, slightly darker inside due to nightfall Adiona walked into one of the back rooms taking a seat on one of the empty beds.
"This is only our second stop and yet I feel we have been travelling months, so much longer to go and so many aeons left to obtain...will I reach them in time before Sin destroys us all..or before another summoner reaches Zanarkand first."
He nodded at her words , it made sense that her pilgrimidge would seem like it was taking forever, after all in her mind it probably was. Time usually slowedd down for those who knew the end was approaching, and as grim and terrible as it sounded that was precisely the situation that Adiona would find heself in right now. It was a shame that such a fate had to come to these summoners. A sacrifice so that Spira would get another ten years. Time to replenish the stock.Time to take in the harvests. Time to regrow the damaged population. Sometimes he thought that they were merely a country that stumbled on, a man with a fatal injury, struggling to take another step. Fearing the next would be its last. Better that it would be.
" Just hope that it does last forever, pray for every delay...".
His words were simple but the effect would be obvious. He knew that Adiona would be wanting to live every moment to its last, most did in these final hours. Like a man before the next big battle. Constantly praying that the negotiators for either side come up with some sort of last minute peace treaty to avoid the war. Sometimes it wasn't so ridiculous an idea. Other times...well war was inevitable. As he came into the temple rooms he set the bags down next to the beds. And sat down.
His eyes looked over his sword, the seething blade that had cut through many of both he and Adionas opponents and would likely do so more in the future yet to come.

So quiet and yet so solemn but Adiona kept on moving, part of her just wanted to stop and quit. That was never going to be an option though...not if she wanted to rid Spira of Sin if only for ten years. That calm would bring so much peace and happiness that nothing else mattered, her death meant that others would live if only for a short while longer. Sighing quietly Adiona held her stave in her hand gripping it tightly, looking around she took in the atmosphere of the Kilika temple. The monks and priestesses bowed as they usually did and Adiona followed suit. Respect was something that was earned.
Starting out she had been quite the stubborn moody witch but now...the realisation had all to well and truly kicked in. What was the point of fighting against those that were willing to help you? Seeing Zero sit down she slowly sat down beside him her hands on her lap.
"It won't get any easier...but I can't let that falter the pilgrimage...I have to carry on regardless."
Dreams were subtle things, as he lay on that bed watching into the night. His own eyelids grew heavier and heavier until eventually he drifted into that land of sleep. He stood there, rain dropping down on the holy city of Bevelle. Guarded by the dragon summoning Bahamut. His eyes drifted to the left, his mentor the teacher of the classes he had been taking part in up till now. Auron. Rather, Sir Auron.
" I know the rage that burns inside you boy, but you can't let it consume you...other wise you'll just end up throwing your life away.....being a summoner or guardian isn't about seeking revenge...its about protecting Spira....the path your on....it'll only lead to more despair for you....".
He closed his eyes, part of him knew what the man was talking about. Part of him knew it was the truth. But there was another part, a part that cowered from the light of truth. A venom that sunk through his very body, growing larger and larger each day. Part of him that wouldn't let go of the hurt that still trembled through him. The part of him that gave him nightmares. The part of him that wanted revenge. That mocked his weakness. That gave him anger.
" I don't want to discuss this...". He knew that there was two paths from here....leave and become a summoner....or see the world and see if he could conquer his anger. He turned to Auron. " I've made my choice....". His eyes opened....dawn was coming...he sat up on his bed and brought his hands to his head, holding it there and applying pressure to stop the incoming headache. Conquering his demons. Learning more about fighting. The latter had been done...but the first....it seemed that his demon danced on his back just as badly as it ever did in training.
He still wanted revenge. His eyes drifted over to Adiona. Was she just a tool for his feeling of revenge? Did he want to use his summoner just as he would his sword? He shook his head and sighed. Confusion, it wasn't a good state of mind to be in, at least as far as he was concerned when he needed to gaurd her. He put on his lower garbs, not bothering to attach his gauntlet claw or put his shirt on. The heat outside was little, but slowly rising. It would be a hot day. Walking out of the temple he stood in the centre point. The sun was still drifting over the horizon as he drew his sword slowly from its scabbard.
" Do I want death?...".
He looked at his reflection in the sword and then ignored this. Embracing his anger, he slashed the sword, not bothering to imbue it with magic, this was merely something to work out his anger so it wouldn't weigh him down in battle. He spun, slashed worked out martial techniques. Streching the joints and tiring him. He brought his hand back and summoned the magic within him, fire. It seemed to only be enhanced by this place of sacred flame. It drew around him in a circle......his mind emptying of anger....he flicked his fingers and the flames disappeared.
By now he was well awakened. He walked over to the side and took a ladel of water and drank to quench his thirst. " Answers will be mine in time...".

Her sleep was peaceful this night and no dreams or nightmares came to her. A long rest was exactly what she needed to recharge her batteries ready for the next trial and aeon. Slowly opening her eyes she threw the light blanket off her body and proceeded to get dressed, her long black skirt and top gracefully clung to her body as she picked up her stave. Today was the day she would try to summon Valefor...she had not used the great feathered beast yet but the practice of summoning him would prove useful. Sliding her feet into her black knee high boots Adiona made her way from the temple grabbing a few pieces of fruit as she left, Zero was no longer in the room perhaps he was training she thought. The young summoner shrugged her shoulders while placing a few grapes into her mouth, exiting the temple she found a wide open space halfway down the temple stairs. Dropping the rest of the fruit into her pocket Adiona pulled her stave out in front of her, taking a deep breath she slid one of her legs backwards thrusting her stave in front of her. Beginning the dance to summon Valefor a bright spark shone in the blue sky, suddenly the white clouds parted as she danced revealing the aeon. Flying downwards Adiona continued to dance and move to finish the summoning, she could hear and feel the aeon but refused to acknowledge any presence until the dance had finished
Landing onto the ground with a thud the winged creature let out a small roar, slightly startled Adiona placed her stave into the clasp on her back to hold it in place. Looking to the aeon Adiona slowly made her way over to him, a small crowd had gathered but they were of no importance at the moment. Small purrs and growls came from Valefor as the summoner made her way over, stretching out her hand she let her fingers lightly touch his soft fur. Smiling Adiona pushed herself closer as Valefor responded by rubbing his head against her hand, a wave of relief washed over her...the first bonds had begun.
He cleaned his sword in the water, briefly stopping by at one of the supply houses at the temple to collect some oil and a leather rag for the blade. He sat on the steps and ran the oiled rag over the blade, giving it a shean and protecting it from any rust gained by its washing or previous use. He slashed it through the air once, the wind parting before the edge of the blade, clean and strong he was pleased with this. The sun was begining to come up, and by the heat on his back he thought that the day was going to be a hot one. Which wasn't uncommon among these islands.
He slowly slid the blade back into its sheath, heading up the marble stair case of the back of the temple, there seemed to be a bit of comotion going on somewhere in the temple. He dropped off at the rooms on the way there , he noticed Adiona's empty bed and nodded lightly to himself. He could only guess she was trying out her power for the first time. She hadn't gotten a chance after their quick escape from Besaid island. He slipped on his gauntlet claw and vest .Streching the blades of the claws his eyes moved over to his bed once more.
" Better see what shes up to...".
Heading off down the corridor he moved down towards the courtyard. At first upon seeing the summon creature near Adiona his hand shot to his sword. It was halfway out the sheath and ready to cleave a line of death through the creatures neck before he saw it nuzzle her and realised that this must be the first of her Aeons. The blade moved back into the sheath and he slowly walked down. Watching.

Relieved that her first aeon had obeyed her summoning a small smile decorated her face, brushing her fingers through Valefor's soft fur Adiona let her eyes wander over the magnificent beast. Now the first bonds would begin and would only strengthen each time he was summoned to her side, shifting her weight the young summoner turned around to look to the crowd before seeing Zero stood there. Clearing her throat lightly Adiona looked back to Valefor, nodding his head the winged aeon flew back into the blue sky waiting to be summoned once more. Rubbing her hands on her skirt Adiona turned back around and walked towards Zero, he was almost like a friend now. The small time they had spent talking was enough now for her to begin their own bonds of friendship. Of course to Adiona Zero didn't seem like the type of man to want any friends or anyone close to him, which he was in entirely his own right not to want anyone that was his choice.
"I suppose we best get back to the temple and begin the trials...."
The beast was indeed an interesting one, grandd wings it took on the appearance of some kind of flying reptile bird. Not quite a dragon. It was a strange hybrid. However he felt the power radiating from it. Adiona's eyes met with his in a complete moment of clarity. There were no words exchanged between the two. He knew already what thoughts lay within her mind. Fear of death. Fear of the end of the journey. But that was something she would have to conquer.
The crowd diminished slightly as the aeon was unsummoned, however it didn't diminish by that much. Adiona's path was still barred slightly by cheering Yevonites and priests who wanted to wish her well on her journey. For now he would take the role of body guard and attempted to move back the masses whilst listening to Adiona talk.
" If that is your wish then so be it"
He said solmnly. In truth they wern't in any particular rush to get to the chamber of the fayth. Summoners were allowed to stay in the teples for as long as they needed whilst on their pilgrimige. He doubted it would have hurt their journey much if they had taken a few days to spend within Kilika. However that said, she hadn't quite done much whilst here other than help the people and sleep. With this thought on his mind he calculated what a guardian would do in this kind of situation.
" Actually, no...not now....go to the cafeteria.....I'll bring you some food...you've only slept...you need to eat if your to face the trials....last time you faced them you collapsed...and even then you were fuly energised...I don't want to run the risk of putting you to those and overly draining you...".

Pushing aside hair that had covered her eyes Adiona looked to the ground and then back to Zero, she knew he was right in what he had said but hearing that she was still weak was still no consolation. Obtaining Valefor had been hard enough she had prayed and spoke to the fayth for so long, her energy had been completely drained and that was after a long rest before hand. Meek and shy Adiona let a small but faint smile form on her lips as she looked back to her guardian.
"I suppose you are right."
Kilika temple was not very big but still prided itself on worshipping their aeon and previous summoners who had defeated Sin, making her way into one of the back rooms Adiona sat down upon a light blue cushion around a circular wooden table, bowing her head lightly to the priests and priestesses Adiona kept silent as she waited for Zero to emerge with some form of energy to help her stay alert during the trials. It wasn't too long before he emerged with pieces of fruit, bread, salad and even some meats alongside a glasses of orange juice she assumed. Keeping silent as she slowly ate her food Adiona looked around the small table at the others that sat with her, they must have thought it some sort of honour but to her she was just as important as them. In such a short time her personality and opinions had changed, shrugging her shoulders she looked to Zero.
"Onto Djose temple after I obtain Ifrit....do you suppose you will be my only guardian until...the end. I mean not that I dislike your company now I admire and quite like it is only you and I but...never mind I ramble."
He came back down with the meal and sat across from her, watching her pick away at the odd platter he had managed to assemble from the temple’s pantry. For a moment he sat in silence, not quite saying much, only his thoughts there to constantly remind him of their journey. Already he was plotting in routes, what would be the most safest route to take. But in the end all roads led back to Bevelle…the memory of their last sight of the holy city had not been a pleasant one.
They had just joined company, 3 guardians one summoner….Sin had attacked. The ship in its own suicidal manner had decided to attack sin and hope to slow it down, or in some miniscual manner turn it away from Bevelle…Zero had made a split decision choice to cut the wires that bound the ship to the Beast….and in doing so had let it loose on Bevelle. The men on the shi for the remainder of the voyage had cursed him for this decision. And despite his own guilt about it…he couldn’t bring himself to say he had made the wrong choice.
Two guardians left the summoner at the end of that trip. Was it his fault? Adiona asked her question and as per usual he thought about his answer for a moment.
“ Who can say….our journey will be long and perilous…we will meet many people on the way there……I do not doubt some will be thinking thoughts of glory as guardians….but in the end it will be your choice whether or not you take them on….already two have abandoned our quest….”.
In his eyes burned his single minded ambition. “ But no matter how many join and leave....I am dedicated to our quest….and I shall follow you to the end, whether that be in Zanarkand….or before….”.

"Yes.....before..."
It wasn't something she hadn't thought about, hell it was on her mind constantly whether or not she would be successful in defeating Sin to bring the calm. The silence between them seemed to be eternal as she played around with her food only eating small mouthfuls. Adiona knew she had to prepare fully for her next aeon otherwise the rest of the pilgrimage would be a constant struggle. Maybe that was the way it would be for her always struggling to stay strong and keep the peace as she travelled from temple to temple. Adiona let out a small cough as she took a few sips from her orange juice, taking a napkin of sorts she wiped her mouth before placing it on her plate. At least she had managed to eat what was presented before her which meant she had more energy to deal with the cloister and Ifrit.
Adiona sat back slightly looking around the room once more, still they looked to her with admiration and honour which was something she was not used to...it made her feel uncomfortable. Smiling and bowing her head lightly Adiona turned her attention back to her lone guardian. They hadn't hit it off right away due to her being arrogant and...well ignorant but still at least now she was begining to see letting someone in was not all that bad. As well if they were going to be travelling together they may as well be cival to each other.
"Perhaps we should head to the trials once you are done Zero."
The dark guardian looked at his ward with some suspision, not in the malicious sense, but rather in that she was begining to have doubts about her journey. She was begining to realise just what this pilgrimidge ment. Just what the cost would be to her. Those must have been heavy chains indeed that were weighing down on her shoulders. He looked down at the platter in front of hi an took a few select itms nothing much, a couple of oranges. He peeled them quickly and ate them. He ate a slice of ham and a half loaf of bread, it wasn't fesh but it wasn't too bad with some spreaded butter. He looked back up at Adiona after finishing it off and then stood up.
" As you say, Lady Adiona....the Cloister here will be slightly harder than in Besaid...however I trust you already know this....yet I am sure we will do fine....".
He made his way out of the cafeteria. Passing a few priests on the way by, hearing the local news. " Did you hear? ...apparantly the Grand Maester will be stopping on both Besaid and Kilika before he goes onto Luca to open the Blitzball season....". They got too far away after that, and all he caught was something mumbled about which team which priest was supporting to win this years seasonal cup. Personally he didn't really care about Blitzball, never really had concerning the sport. It was a distraction. And everyone knew it. A distraction from a horrible life encased by sin. He didn't have time for distractions. His entire life revolved around defeating Sin. And he wouldn't indulge himself otherwise until the task was complete. He approached the doors to the cloister and held it open for Adiona. Both transending down the elevator..into the depths beyond.
Cloister Of Trials
Make your way through the Cloister of trials and into the main area to pray to the fayth and obtain the Aeon Ifrit. End your post with you entering the room of the fayth.

Her ears pricked up to the voices of those speaking about the Grand Maester, it would be an honour to meet him once again. There had only been once occasion when she had seen him and that was well before she had set off for her pilgrimage. Averting her gaze and mind from those talking herself and Zero made their way down to the cloister of trials in the temple. It was considerably warmer than Besaid but it was the fire aeon they were here to obtain. Taking a silent but deep breath Adiona took the lead into the cloister, the first room had 4 delves in the wall with two fire spheres. It didn't take a genius to figure out that the two either side of each other fitted into the delves on the door. Zero though motioned to move them though instead of her, then again he was the guardian and it was his duty to protect her against anything. Adiona had not heard of fiends in the temple but anything could be possible within these dark chambers.
So it went on this way through each door and chamber the both of them figuring out where each sphere went and in which order. Adiona like the last time detested these puzzles as she saw it as a waste of time, she was to be tested yes but not by these mindless contraptions. Her testing began with the fayth praying and speaking to the aeon, then again maybe it wasn't a bad thing. Letting out a small cough due to the smoke and ash Adiona and Zero pushed the last huge door to the cloister open. Almost tumbling in Adiona caught her balance by grabbing the stone wall, her eyes immediately caught sight of the fayth. Straightening her skirt and top out she pulled her summoner's stave from its holster, she walked slowly up to the fayth door and stood still for a moment.
Zero stopped outside of the door to the Fayth, he knew the deal. Pray to the fayth and recieve the Aeon. They'd done it before. Just another step in gaining power for Adiona.
As you stepped inside, the hymn of the fayth would fill the summoner's ears, a song sang amongst the faithful for thousands of years in defiance of Sins path of destruction and era of tyrany. Pyreflies surrounded the viewing platform that held the statue of the Fayth. Here the spirital power of the aeon was strong. Strong enough even to physically drain most summoners of energy. Prayers began, and you would channel your will to defeat Sin into the Fayth's stone body in hope for a reply. And a reply did come.
The room drew warmer as flames seemed to light up glyphs around the wall. A spiritual form of the aeon appeared before Adiona. " I have seen your will to defeat Sin, and their is doubt in your heart....but there is also strength...and that strength shall be what aids you in the time to come...". The spirit of the fayth crossed its arms. " When the time is darkest.....my fire shall light your way.....". It burst into pyreflies....and Adiona felt a new power within.
