The crowed were active and noisey, they would not settle easilly but it wasn't noise of rebellion or angst, they were cheering in support, for hiding in the shadows of the Bevelle main Palace was the newest Maester to the Yevonite religion. They were chanting his name over and over again 'Seymour, Seymour' and then Grand Maester Mika spoke.
"Yevonites of Spira; we have suffered a tremendous loss, and been hit by a terrible grief." He took a breath, a silence in remembrence for the late Maester "however, in this time of need, whilst Sin's shadow still looms we need hope, we have spoken long and hard, and so we are proud to bring you maester Jyscal Guado's replacement, his son, Seymour Guado" The people had never seen him before but the news had already travelled as good news (or contraversal gossip) usually does.
He looked to his Guardian, the great sir Auron for he has been in this situation before, and he smiled; they had spoken about this the night before and now he was to tell the people of Spira, and the other Maesters (except Mika who put the idea forward to him). He walked forward, his fathers staff in his hand and he smirked at the applause that he got.
---
'This would be the perfect opportunity for the Yevonite church to make a stand." Mika sat there in from of Seymour and Auron, his old and strained voice carrying fully into the wants, needs and ego of Seymour. "No matter how many summoners give their lives, Sin cannot be truly defeated; but a Maester of Yevon: if you were to take the pilgrimage, attain the means to defeat sin and bring upon a calm it would show the people of Spira, that Yevon prevails, and what better way than our newest Maester taking the steps that other yevonites have taken" Seymour looked at his guardian with thoughts of how he must be feeling, having this talk again, first with Braska and now with a Maester of Yevon.
He looked at the fire that was blazing in the front of the room, he had to think but he knew that it would be the greater good for all of Spira. "Grand Maester Mika, Sir Auron... I think it would be an amazing thing that a representative of Yevon take upon this burden, and that every walk of life are banded together for the same reason, to rid Spira of Sin... For this reason I shall take upon the pilgrimage of the summoner; and I shall annouce it to the people tomorrow." Mika bowed his head and even though conversation carried on Seymour's mind was made up and already mapping his first temple visit.
-------
He stood until there was silence "I am Seymour Guado. I am honored to receive the title of maester. In life, my father Jyscal worked to foster friendship between man and Guado. I vow to carry on his legacy, and to fulfill my duties as maester to the best of my abilities; with this I am to take a pilgramage of the summoners so that I ma be able to rid Sin from this world and instate an eternal calm upon Spira." The crowd gave a mixed reception but it took them a moment to realise what he had said and they all cheered again. The Maesters inside gave looks to each other but Mika looked ahead and gave no shock or anxioty towards Seymour's announcement.
He turned back and walked inside again, he took a breath and smirked at them "And with that, fellow Maesters i take my leave." He bowed and gave them the sign of Yevon, they showed their respects granted the other Maesters were shocked and silenced. He looked at Sir Auron and smirked "I think I shocked the others."
They were halfway down the hall before a voice called for them "Maester Seymour, Sir Auron! A word"
