Peaceful, a word Wolfe didn't know all that well, but the every once in a while when he got it, he enjoyed it. Wolfe sat and watched as the people walked by and went on with their everyday lives. Kalm wasn't the place he remembered from his childhood, it was more populated and a lot busier with life nowadays then it had been years ago in his youth. This was the first time Wolfe had been back to Kalm in some time now, and even though the streets were a bit more full, and the atmosphere was more lively, he could still see the same old Kalm he knew under it all. He knew the town extremely well. Of all the towns his mother had dragged him to while he was young, she always ended up back in Kalm the most.
Wolfe was sitting just outside the Inn on a bench as he was trying to clear his head. He had just got done checking into the Inn under an alias. One of the many he used, and each of them had a different history and story. As he thought about it he could hear all the different stories rattling around in his head. It was sometimes hard to remember which stories went with which aliases and in which towns they were used in. One could only come up with a new name and story so many times in the same city before people would recognize your face and realize it was all a lie, and that was something Wolfe couldn't have. Not to mention he had the little issue of his glowing eyes, something he had been born with, which was a side effect of the experiments Hojo had done to his mother long before he had been born that passed on to him. His life depended on people not knowing who he really was. As he thought over it all he couldn't understand how his mother had done it for so long. She had to make a new story, history, set of names, and all that for both herself and Wolfe which couldn't have been easy with her glowing eyes, an effect of Mako injection given to all Shinra Solders, not to mention trying to explain a young child who also had the same glowing eyes. It was times like this when he thought back on her and what she had done that it almost seemed like she wasn't human.
Wolfe had sat out here to clear his mind but with each passing minute it seemed it instead filled with more thoughts and lingering ideas. However, this wasn't the time for this and he knew it, he needed to get his head on straight and really get on top of things. It had only been 6 months since the ordeal at Midgar and Hojo was now on the search for him with a renewed lust. So Wolfe had his work cut out for him. Not only that but now Wolfe had to even more with his ear to the ground, and looking through every job that came up with even more detail. The mission had been both a success and a failure. He had managed to find the old man and get some very important information out of him, and he had managed to get him out of Midgar alive with his distraction. However, on that same not, he had not only lost track of the man now who was obviously again in hiding, but now he had sparked up Hojo's interest in Wolfe. Which meant more Soldiers everywhere and more headaches for Wolfe. It was also a failure because the mission itself had been a failure so to say. He had been hired to find and kill the old man, and he hadn't killed him, and so he hadn't gotten paid. Wolfe was starting to run a little low on money so he was going to have to find another job soon.
Wolfe tried focusing again as he sat there on the bench. No matter how hard he tried he just couldn't get his mind straight and clear, and now as he thought about it he was starting to feel his exhaustion catching up to him. He had been up for almost 3 days now without sleep, and it was getting to him. He really needed some sleep but how couldn't imagine trying to go to sleep with this much running through his head. He leaned forward and brought his hands up and started rubbing his face a little as he kept trying to calm his mind.
After about another 5 minutes of trying and failing to clear his mind he decided that he would check in on his room and see if it was ready for him. He got up and made his way to the door of the Inn and went inside. Once inside he made his way to counter and spoke to the man behind the desk who told Wolfe his room was finally ready. Wolfe took the key to his room and thanked the man. He then turned and walked away from the counter and made his way to the stairs and went up to the second floor where his room was located. When he reached the door he unlocked it and went inside.
Wolfe slowly dropped his extra gear he had on him into the corner near his bed and slipped off his boots. He then propped up his blade on the wall right next to the bed so it was easy for him to grab in case he needed it in hurry. He then slowly laid down on the bed and leaned back, placing his head into the middle of the pillow. He was amazed at how fast his head cleared now that he was moments from passing out. He could see his vision fading and the world shifting into the winds as sleep quickly took a hold of him. However, his mind became filled with one final lasting thought that he couldn't seem to shake and was nagging him in the back of his thoughts, and no matter how clouded his mind was or how filled with thoughts he could always feel this one rattling around in the background constantly sitting there to remind him that it important enough that he couldn't just forget or ignore. It was the some of the last words the old man had said some almost 6 months ago, just moments before the Shinra Soldiers had busted into the room.
The old man had mentioned something to Wolfe about what he was, and explained a small amount about the experiments that had done to his mother and helped make him as he was today. However, the one thing that stuck with him was not the information of the past but rather a glimpse into the future. The old man had mentioned something about an evolution, and Wolfe evolving into something. Wolfe at the time had been trying to process everything the old man was telling him so it hadn't stood out too much at the moment it had been said, but even if it had it wouldn't of matter cause only seconds after he had told Wolfe that the Soldiers had busted in and ended the conversation.
Now however, he couldn't get the words out of his head, or the concept altogether. What had the old man been talking about and how would it effect Wolfe? Wolfe couldn't figure it out and couldn't place his finger on what it all meant, but it was important and he needed to figure it out soon though. These were the last and only thoughts on Wolfe's mind as he faded into sleep. A sleep filled with sentences that made no sense, and dreams of memories from long ago.
It was almost 10 hours later when Wolfe awoke from his deep, and much needed slumber. The time he had been sleep had been uneventful besides the crazy dreams, and repeated lines of the old man's going through his mind over and over. The sleep had done some good for Wolfe though, as he was now not only rested but his mind has a rare sense of clarity, something he hadn't had a lot of in the last 6 months. The only lingering thought was the same one always nagging in the back of his mind, and the very same one that plagued him in his sleep, the old man's words. Wolfe just let the words fall into the buzz in the back of his mind for now and got up and stretched. He then gathered his things and went back down to the desk downstairs and turned in his key. He then made his way outside and proceeded to the benches near the middle of town. He was going to give himself a few minutes to fully wake up before he planned his next step.
It would appear that Hojo and the Shinra Company would not give you any peace of mind. Hey, at least you slept for the first time in a few days, right? As you advance to one of the benches in the middle of the town, you notice the presence of three SOLDIERs, merely by their uniforms. They stood in a triangle formation, the apparent leader in the front with two behind. Could you not even get a moment to collect yourself after just waking up? Apparently not.
The leader of the three spoke out in a strong and commanding voice, “Lucian Úlfr, you are required to accompany us to Shinra Headquarters. If you choose to resist, we will have to take you by force. Either way, you are coming with us.” The man’s passive aggressive, glowing eyes burn into your own. From the very look of it, you may not be able to get yourself out of this one, if you display yourself as aggressive, it may invoke the local authorities and essentially, make the situation worse. It would seem that Shinra's reach has grasped even the small, peaceful town of Kalm. Unfortunate for you, it would seem.
[In this circumstance, you have a few options available. First, you may fight, obviously. Or, you may do as they wish and join them as they journey to the Shinra Headquarters and somewhere along the way, attempt to escape. Or, you may do something completely different. Whatever you choose, role play it out and see where it takes you.]
Wolfe had been walking with his head down looking at the ground thinking over things when he heard the voice that would just make his spirits crack. He didn't even have to look up when he heard the voice call out his name. He normally went by Wolfe, and there was only one group of people that would call him by his real name, or even know it for that matter. Wolfe just stopped where he was and gave a slight shake of his head and a sigh, not even bothering to look up at the man who had spoken.
Wolfe then spoke up as he slowly took in a deep breath and then brought his head up to met the gaze of the Solder
"ohhh come on... really?... don't you guys ever give up?... oh wait... don't answer that... i forgot, your Shinra lap dogs.....trained to fetch on command... well either way your just annoying at this point...."
Wolfe took a deep breath and let out a heavy sigh as he raised his arms in a very nonchalant fashion
"well... you already know my answer... i mean, i am not just going to decide to just come tagging along, or else i would have done that like 15 groups ago when the first guy said the same thing you just did, so go ahead and pull out your weapons and get all ready...but i think i need to stretch first, i am a little rusty i think..."
And with his sarcastic comment he rolled his right shoulder back and there was a loud pop
"ohh i think i threw out my shoulder.. do you think we could do this another day? ..come on... I'll give you a cookie"
Wolfe knew his sarcastic remarks were only going to piss off the Soldiers, but he just didn't care at this stage. Wolfe the with lightning speed reached his hand up and behind him placing his hand around the hilt of his sword, Cerberus, and wrapped his fingers tightly around the the hilt and pulled it off his back and and brought it down so he was holding it down and angled in front of him so the tip was near the ground about 2 feet in front of him or so. He just gave another heavy sigh and waited for the Soldiers to make their first move. However, Wolfe was prepped and ready for their move, and expected them to open fire at him. He was more the ready to defend
Plainly put, the SOLDIERs were not impressed by your response and reactions. Your uncooperative nature did not please them as they preferred you to go quietly instead of make a bigger scene than the one they are created. Civilians stood under store roofs and on the sidewalks, unmoving as they watch what may commence. Understandably, being a small town and a rather tranquil, Kalm did not see a lot of aggressive action; so this was a rarity.
Just as you had withdrawn your weapon, the SOLDIERs did the same. Tension laced the air as there was a stand still; however, it was quickly broken as the SOLDIERs moved into action, aiming not to kill, but to subdue.
Battle: For this battle, you may control the actions of the SOLDIERs. Note that they are not trying to kill you, though they may make some excuse to if you do not defeat them quickly. It is 250 words to beat the two 3rd Class SOLDIERs, while the leader is a 2nd Class, taking 500 words to defeat. Try not to kill citizens or you may be penalized.
Wolfe knew the drill all to well by this point. He watched as the two 3rd class Soldiers came up and flanked the leader 2nd Class. They came up so each was about 3 steps in front of the leader and left just enough space in between them so the leader could also shoot at Wolfe. Wolfe knew this was the common maneuver as the two 3rd Class Soldiers were considered expendable. However, the leader was a 2nd Class, and that meant he was a better Soldier and that he was better trained, had seen more combat, and was more battle worn then the two 3rd Class Soldiers. Wolfe wasn't worrying about the two 3rd Class Soldiers all that much, he was thinking more about the fact that he would need to actually give a little extra effort to take out the leader.
As the two 3rd Class Soldiers took their place in their shield flanking position they went to open fire at Wolfe. Wolfe was already more then ready for this and he pushed his right hand that was holding Cerberus forward and down a little placing the tip on the ground in front of him. He then brought the blade up and forward and turned the blade turning it into a shield. He slipped his hand down the hilt to the base of the blade and grabbed a good hold of it. As he did this he turned his body by sweeping his right leg back and leaning back on it. He also turned his left leg forward and bent it a little. He turned his body sideways and brought his left arm up and placed the forearm of his left arm against the blade giving it more support. This placed him in a stance that he was using the blade as a shield and had set his body to take up as little space as possible, so he could use his sword as a full body shield.
Everything happened so quick it was like a blur as the Soldiers took there positions and opened fire on Wolfe who was now in a completely defensive position. This was fine with Wolfe for now, but as the whole thing passed through his mind he took note of a few things. Normally Wolfe was an aggressive fighter, but right now, he was out in the wide open with nothing to use as cover and no places to use to his tactical advantage. Not only that but there were citizens laced all around Wolfe and the Soldiers. Wolfe was chaotic in nature but he still had some humanity in him, and he wasn't going to just put the innocent lives of others in danger. Unlike Midgar these people weren't used to this and didn't know what to do. In Midgar when people saw Soldiers show up they disappeared, but these people didn't know the drill and this was making it a little harder on Wolfe then he would have wanted. Wolfe took a moment to gauge the situation as the bullets connected with his sword and were deflected into the air. He needed to plan this out and he needed to be quick about it. The longer this battle went on the better the chance that innocent people were going to get drawn in and hurt.
As the bullets flew all around Wolfe he tilted his head just enough so his head was behind his blade but he could pear over the top of his blade. He saw that the Soldiers were still in their formation and quickly decided it was about time to go on the offensive. Wolfe glanced down at his left arm that he had propped against his blade to support it and smirked. He then opened his left hand with the fingers apart. He then slowly focused his energy through his body and starting pushing the flow of it towards the center of his body. After he had condensed his energy to the center of his body he pushed it out towards his left hand and focused it into his left palm.
When he felt all the energy focused into his left palm he took one more glance at the trio of Soldiers and then closed his hand. Just as he closed his hand there was a quick feeling as the pressure in the air dropped and a bolt of lightning came striking down right on top of the 3rd Class Soldier to the right, The bolt of lightning was enough to stun the Soldier and knock him off balance. However, Wolfe didn't hesitate as he opened his left hand again and then gave a quick second to focus again before closing it and once again calling a bolt of lightning down onto he other 3rd Class Soldier resulting in the same effect. Wolfe wasted no time in repeating the same process for a third time. He opened his left hand and took a second to focus his energy like before and then closed his hand just as he had done the last two times. As he did there was the same quick drop of pressure in the air right before one last blot of lighting came hurling down from the sky and connected right onto the leader Soldier in the back of the small group. Wolfe gave a soft grunt as he the third lightning was cast. He had used up his energy reserves for now and he knew he couldn't cast another spell like that for a while, which he hoped this battle would be long done by that time.
Even though the lightning bolt connected with the leader he had realized at the last second what was about to happen and had braced himself and even though he wasn't able to avoid the bolt he had still been able to brace enough to shrug off some of the effect, and therefor wasn't as stunned or hurt from the bolt. As The final bolt hit its target Wolfe sprang to action. He didn't have alot of time before they they shrugged off the effects of the attack and went back on the offensive. Wolfe shifted his right hand back up the hilt of Cerberus as he wrapped his fingers around the Hilt and twisted the blade as he pulled it to the side. As he pulled the blade aside he turned his body and pivoted on his right foot and pushed off sending him moving forward towards his targets.
As Wolfe took off running he continued to swing the blade aside and as he took his next step he had swung the blade out and behind him as he took off into a full out run. With lightning quick speed he started closing the gap between himself and his dazed opponents. As he closed the gap he quickly realized the leader Soldier was already starting to gather himself from the attack. Wolfe had expected as much and knew he had to make his next few attacks precise and make them count. By this point Wolfe had closed the gap and was now just a few feet from the small group of Soldiers.
Wolfe flashed the next few moments through his head as he planed out his attacks and imagined them moments before he was about to preform them to play it one more time through before he acted out. Wolfe gave a quick smirk as he made his move. He took one last step forward as he swung his right hand forward bring the blade around and shifting his hold on the hilt so as the blade came in front of him, he stabbed it downward stabbing the tip into the ground. As the blade stabbed into the ground he used it to push himself up like a pole vaulter and outstretched his right leg as his body took to the air and aimed his right foot for the head of the slowly recovering 3rd Class Soldier to the right, the first one he had hit with a lightning bolt. As the Soldiers started to turn his head Wolfe's foot connected with the front of the Soldier's helmet. There was a crack as the visor cracked under the pressure of the blow. Just as Wolfe's right foot connected with the Soldier's helmet he shot out his left left and caught his left foot also right into the helmet of the Soldier. There was another crack as more of the visor cracked under the pressure of the second hit. The Soldier's head shot back from the force of the impacts, and as his head shot back his helmet went flying off his head and into the air. Also the second hit connected the Soldier's arms just flailed out out and the gun he was holding flew out of his hands and away from his body, and his whole body went limp in mid air as it was propelled backwards and onto the ground in a heap.
Wolfe didn't have time to really pay attention to the Soldiers body to make sure he was completely out as he was still trying to end this quick. As his left foot had connected with he first Soldier's helmet he had used the momentum to push his body away from that Soldier. Wolfe swung his body with this momentum and used his sword to swing himself around and at the second Soldier. As his body swung around the sword he placed both feet together, stretched his legs out and pulled them a little closer to his body. Some of Wolfe's momentum was lost as he swung around the sword, which is what Wolfe had expect and he shifted his body so feet were aiming at a downward angle.
The second Soldier much like the first one was starting to recover slightly from the lightning bolt but Wolfe was already striking at him and not planning on giving him a chance to fully recover. As Wolfe's body had swung around his blade and he had planned to loss a little speed and just as he had planned his feet were about level with the Soldier's knees by the time he had swung around the blade. Wolfe's feet connected with the Soldiers knee and there was a loud crack as his knee was shattered under the force of Wolfe's hit. The Soldier's body crumbled towards the ground as the Soldier screamed out in pain and went to grab his now broken knee.
As Wolfe's feet connected with eh Soldier's knee he pushed off a little and landed with both feet on the ground in a crouching position. He was still holding onto the hilt of Cerberus with both hands. Wolfe quickly turned his head to look at the leader who was already almost recovered from the lightning bolt, so Wolfe had to act quickly. He leaned his body forward and let go of the hilt of Cerberus with his right hand. He took a step forward and as he brought his right hand forward he balled his hand into a fist and went to punch at the base of the leader's throat. The leader realized the nature of the attack and was able to to bring his gun up and swing it across the front of his body to try and knock Wolfe's punch away. Wolfe's punch was knocked off course but Wolfe had followed through with the momentum and even though his punch was deflected from the leader's throat it was still able to connect with his shoulder and caused the solder to get knocked off balance and start stumbling back.
Wolfe realizing his opening for another attack let go of the hilt of Cerberus and pushed forward and in mid step forward pushed up and jumped into the air. In mid air he brought both his feet together and bent his knees in drawing his feet closer to his body. As his body became parallel with the ground and he was equal height of the leader's head he pushed his feet outward and stretched his legs with as much force as he could and connected the bottoms of his boots with the front of the stumbling leader's helmet. There was an extremely loud cracking sound as the leader's visor shattered and pieces went flying in every direction. The leader let out a loud growl of pain and his body went flying backwards and his feet flew out from under him. He went flying backwards a feet feet and landed on his back on the ground. He immediately started rolling back and forth as he brought his hands to his broken visor and tried to place them on his face in a reaction to the pain. As Wolfe's feet connected with leader's visor he pushed off and in mid air did a flip and landed on the ground in a crouching position.
As Wolfe landed he swung his right hand back behind him without even looking and just as his hand hit the hilt of Cerberus he wrapped his fingers tightly around the hilt and yanked it up and out of the ground. As he did this he saw movement out of the corner of his eye. As he turned his head to look at the movement he had caught out of the corner of his eye he saw that the Soldier he had broken the leg of was trying to kneel and pull his gun to shoot Wolfe. Wolfe didn't intend on letting this happen and just as the Soldier started to pull the gun across the front of his body to take aim at Wolfe who was right next to him. Wolfe swung Cerberus around him and across the front of him, dragging the tip along the ground. As Cerberus was about to connect with the gun Wolfe twisted his hand and caused the blade to turn and caught the gun with the flat side of Cerberus and knocked the gun away.
Wolfe followed through with the movement of his arm till his arm was arced across his body. He then pushed his elbow out wards and caught it right to the center of the Soldier's helmet. As Wolfe's elbow connected with the helmet he clenched his left hand into a fist and punched it forward catching the front of the helmet with a second heavy blow and causing the Soldier to start falling backwards. However, Wolfe wanted to make sure he didn't get back up this time and he pushed himself forward and up into a jump, and brought his knee up and connected his knee to the dead center of the Soldier's helmet. There was a loud crack and the visor shattered causing pieces to fly everywhere. The Soldier's body went flying backwards and landed on the ground in a heap.
Wolfe landed once again in a crouching position and stood up as he looked at the Soldier laying on the ground when he saw some more movement out of the corner of his eye from the leader Soldier that he had just dealt with. Just as he turned his head his eyes widened as he realized at that movement what he saw was a grenade flying through the air aimed at him. Wolfe started to swing his blade around in front of his body to use as a shield but wasn't quick enough and the grenade exploded and by that point Wolfe had only been able to cover about 4/5 of his body behind his blade and some of the grenade's shrapnel caught Wolfe in his right arm and right shoulder. Wolfe body was pushed back from both the shrapnel that hit him as well as the force of what he had blocked with Cerberus.
Wolfe gathered his thoughts quickly knowing that the Soldier would throw another one in moments and sprang to get his attack off first. Wolfe twisted Cerberus as he jumped forward and up into the air. He reached his right hand over to Cerberus and slid the front blade off and took hold of it. Moving his arm caused Wolfe an immense amount of pain but Wolfe just bit down and shrugged it off. He would deal with his wound soon, but he needed to end this before he got any more hurt, or an innocent person got hurt.
Normally when Wolfe used his Trinity Blade attack there was a first part of it, but because he didn't have the time to try for it he skipped the first part of the attack and instead went straight into the air for the second part of his attack. Just as his body was in the middle of the air and he was right above the still prone leader who was moving his hand to grab another grenade Wolfe made his attack. He swung his right hand across his body in a wide ark swing causing a slash of energy to head right at his target. Wolfe made a loud grunting sound as he made the swing as pain shot through his body, but he didn't waste any time as he then swung his left hand making another wide ark swing creating another slash of energy also heading right for his target.
Just as the leader was about to pull the grenade off his belt he was hit by the first slice of energy and his body flailed for a second before the second slice of energy hit his body causing it to flail once more before going limp. Wolfe landed a few feet away and as he landed he had to take an extra step to catch himself as pain shot through his body from his wounds. He slowly turned around and looked over the group of Soldiers that now laid on the ground, their bodies limp. He had done a good amount of damage to each of them, but had tried to refrain from dealing a death blow to any of them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Combat Abilities Used: Name: Trinity Blade Type: Attack Effect: Wolfe swings the blade down towards the ground, and as he does the smaller Back Blade detaches and stabs into the ground and disappears. Wolfe the starts running forward towards his opponent and jumps into the air. In mid-air he reaches his free hand to his blade and detaches the Front Blade and pulls it away so he is holding a sword in each hand. Just as he is above his target the smaller Back Blade shoots up from the ground right under the target cutting them and throwing them into the air. Wolfe then each blade once to form an X motion, and sends a wave of energy with each slice that hit the target sending them back into the ground, and Wolfe catches the Back Blade and attaches the blades back together as he lands on the ground some few feet away.
As Wolfe glanced over the limp bodies of the Shinra Soldiers as he took a second to gather himself. He slowly reached his right hand over to his left sliding the blade back onto Cerberus, pushing through the pain as he did. He then started to make his way over to the Soldier whom Wolfe had knocked the helmet off of. As he walked over to the limp body he swung Cerberus over his shoulder, using his right hand, and slid it into it's holster on his back.
It was at this time that Wolfe heard some commotion in the distance and realized that the local authorities had been called out and would get to the scene soon. Wolfe had no intention of sticking around to deal with them, and even less of fighting them. Wolfe didn't mind kicking around a few Soldiers, and was more then happy to mess up some Shinra property, but Kalm had actually been kind to him and and to his mother years ago, and Wolfe wasn't planing on attacking any of it's residents.
Wolfe quickened his pace over to the helmet less Soldier's body. As he got to it he stopped for a moment as he looked down and slowly shook his head in distraught. The Soldier had to be somewhere around Wolfe's age at best, maybe even a little younger. Wolfe couldn't believe that Shinra would snatch them up that early, or even if this poor soul had volunteered, he never would have expected them to actually take someone that young. However, if half the things he had heard about Shinra were true, this was just the tip of the iceberg, and as he gave it a quick thought, he realized it wasn't all that far fetched. They had preformed horrible experiments on his mother and many other Soldiers, and sucked Mako right out of the planet to fuel their greed. So in reality this was nothing compared to the bigger things Shinra obviously had going on. Wolfe just gave one more shake of his head in disgust before he turned and started into a light jog towards the outskirts of town where he had Lilith waiting for him.
As he reached the edge of the large circle formed by the crowd of bystanders they parted out of his way, giving him a path to leave. Even though most people hated Shinra, Wolfe could understand how they most likely felt about him, as he had just broken the peace in a small town known for its tranquility. Wolfe could feel the pressure of the bystander's eyes as he kept his pace making his way for the end of the crowd. He couldn't blame them though, as he knew the life of violence and chaos and knew that these people didn't want those. However, Wolfe was a magnet to violence and chaos and anywhere he went they would shortly follow.
As Wolfe broke the edge of the crowd he could hear even more noise in the distances more people were gathering and the authorities were getting closer to the scene. Wolfe quickened his pace as he broke out into a full run. Withing a minute or so he had reached the very outskirts of town and had reached Lilith. He turned and looked towards the direction he had just come from as he saw the authorities breaking past the crowd and starting to make their way towards his current location. Wolfe just turned back to face the bike and swung his leg over the bike and reached his left arm out and grabbed hold of the left grip as he kick started the bike to life. Wolfe's right arm and shoulder were still useless at this point and he didn't have the energy reserves to try casting any kind of healing spell on himself yet, so he just let it hang to his side. He gave one quick sigh as he revved the motor and started to roll away ignoring the calls made to him from the Kalm authorities.
Wolfe rode off into the distance in the opposite direction of Midgar to get as much distance between himself and that place as he could. When he was far enough away he would take care of his wounds and decide his next stop.
