Event: War event II, Midnight Arrow Details:Galbadia have forced Shinra back to Midgar. Now the Galbadian forces are camped in the wastelands outside of Midgar. It is the night before the war, Galbadians are partying and preparing for their next victory. Moods are high. But unbenost to them...the Midgar forces have already left Midgar, and are moving to attack them from both sides. An elite force coming up from behind, and a main force sneaking up on the partying camp from the front. It'll be a night of absolute slaughter.
Midgar forces begin by sneaking up to the Galbadian camp. You are either with Sephiroths elite force sneaking up on the back. Or with Zack's frontal assualt group.
But the event begins...with a party. Information Same rules as the previous war event, if you havn't already picked sides then you'll have to pick one to continue. The event will be a high reward event and will decide the plot direction for the future.
.....In the shadows....a secret mission begins....
The Turks Whilst the war begins, Shinra has sent its black operations group the Turks into Galbadia to retrieve the stolen Jenova sample. This is their primary directive...however...their secondary objective is to sabotage the Galbadian weapons of mass destruction whilst in the base.
There Buddy stood in the midst of a line on undisciplined, unprepared and uninformed men. Around him the foul stench of those that surrounded him, overcame any other smell. Why was he involved with this war? Because of damn, cheating Shinra, that's why!"
He mind went back to a few days before. He was sleeping in his small home that lied on the edge between Sector Six and Seven. Lying with ¾ of his body on his torn and dirty, yellow and brown plaid couch, his guitar resting on his chest, one arm draped over it, keeping it from falling off while the other arm dangled over the edge, resting on the floor. One foot lied propped up on the arm of the couch, while the other followed suit of the arm and rest off the couch. Without any tact at all, the door was nearly broken down by a fist pounding on it. Buddy shot awake on the couch and instinctively grabbed the neck of his guitar with the hand that rested on it and his katana sheath that sat placed against an end table at the end of the couch. On his feet within a couple seconds, he gently placed the guitar on the couch, and made his way to the door which had stopped its strident thumping.
Buddy rubbed his eyes and adjusted his glasses then peaked through the homemade peering slot. SOLDIER! He hesitated for a moment, trying to recall if he had done anything worthy of their attention, good or bad. It was too early to clearly make that call as nothing came to mind right away. He let out a long sigh and opened the door to the impatient men….and woman. Buddy wasn't sure why he hadn't thought about it, but he had never seen a woman in a SOLDIER uniform and thus in his mind, that combination didn't exist until this moment. She wasn't that bad to look at either.
Before he could invite them in, they made there way into his home. The first was the attractive women, she was a few inches shorter that Buddy with short red hair that showed beneath her cap. She didn't wear the helmets like the other two, so Buddy took the assumption that she must have been an officer. He gave her a quick smile as she walked by. She returned it with a solid and unwavering stare that made Buddy think twice about doing anything like that again. The other two were men dressed as the usual SOLDIER grunt uniform. One was a massive brute that looked like he would barely fit through the thin doorway and the other was substantially shorter than Buddy, almost to the point of a dwarf. He let them pass by him in the doorway as the short one gave him a quick sinister smile. Buddy returned it with a sarcastic and smug smile, causing the man to look a bit irate at his demeanor.
They stood as a line in the living area, which comprised about eighty percent of Buddy's home, one man on either side of the female. She cleared her voice, "Mr. Holly, I have it here that you signed up for the Shinra Army a few days ago." Buddy's eyes grew wide. "When you signed your contract to serve Shinra, you agreed to meet with the reserves faction yesterday."
WHAT?!?
Immune to his well presented disbelief, she continued, "We came to see if you were still an eligible candidate for the reserves or if an unfortunate accident may have made you incapable."
When did he sign up for the Army?
"I'm glad to see that you are still in good condition to battle and that you clearly have some weapon experience" She said making note of the sheath still in Buddy's hands.
Oh sh- His mind traced back to several times that there had been men in the bars recruiting drunks and the like. They tried to egg Buddy on, but he was never that drunk, was he? Maybe they got a hold of his signature some how…You dirty bastards….
"So Mr. Holly, if you would come with us we will be happy to escort you to the camp grounds where you will be assigned to a squad."
Buddy's look became defiant when she told him she would "escort" him. He picked up a piece of paper and placed it against the wall then scribbled on it and handed it to her. She read it out loud in her cold tone, "Sorry, but I've got a gig." She looked up without any change in facial expression and shook her head "no". Buddy motioned for her to hand the clipboard of names to him; he wanted to see for himself. His eyes grew wide as he looked down the list to see his name, but in a signature far different from his. Did they forge his name?
She seemed to deduce that he was onto something, "Anyone who has signed up is legally bound to serve, those that do not will go to our local prison facilities."
Fine! Let Shinra take me to prison then. I've been there before.
"…Prisoners will be serving in the front lines."
Buddy's head and shoulders dropped in despair. He looked back up at her, this time she looked more like an ugly witch, than the beauty that walked into the doorway. Several minutes passed of him pacing and fuming about his situation, eventually coming to the conclusion that it was better to not be in the front lines. He picked up his guitar and several other small items. They had made their way to the door by now and Buddy trudged along after them.
Now he stood lightly armored with a shoulder guard, bracers and leg guards that he managed to "acquire" them from one of the others men in the camp the night. If he was going to go into battle, he wanted to have a little bit of protection from the other side. He stared off into the distance to frustrated to do anything else. If he survived this conflict, he was going to find some way to make the Shinra compensate him for his time and commitment.
This is why I prefer bodyguarding. I hate being a faceless grunt. Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn... damn… damn
"What?!? why that son of a bitch! He does this on purpose, doesn't he? It's like a game to him, isn't it? 'Let's see how many ways I can annoy Rufus.' That's how it is, isn't it?" Rufus screamed into the speaker of his phone. The president's secretary had just relayed to him his father's latest orders,
and it seemed as if President Shinra had struck three more grievous blows to Rufus' nerves.
First, and foremost, involved the Turks. The Turks were the elite group of warriors, spies, communications specialists... intelligence officers, pilots... bodyguards... saboteurs... Hell, they were elite everything, and they were supposed to be Rufus' personal soldiers. Yet his father saw it fit to order them to go off after some stolen artifact. His men were out there doing his father's work? That really pissed Rufus off.
As if that weren't enough, he had recently requested to hold a meeting with his father, regarding the head of the Science Department, one Professor Hojo, and his recent activities. Hojo had gained quite the reputation for creating huge monsters, and then "accidentally" releasing them to terrorize whoever was in the vicinity. Hojo had no regard for the lives of others...which was fine...but having no regard for Rufus' life? That crossed the line! Something had to be done about Hojo, and Rufus had been trying to convince his father of this as well. However, that's a difficult task to accomplish when his father refuses to have an audience with him. What's worse is that his father didn't even have the decency to tell him this himself, Rufus had received this news via the president's secretary.
And to top it all off, the icing on the proverbial cake, Rufus had received new orders, and it appeared he had been given a completely meaningless and demeaning task, yet again. There was to be a battle soon. The next day, in fact. Midgar's forces would be split into two groups, one would be lead by Sephiroth, and was to sneak around behind the enemy armies, and the other lead by some other SOLDIER first class whose name Rufus didn't care to remember, who would attack the enemy head on, creating a distraction for the other group to sneak in. The battle was fast approaching, and now was the time to brief the troops. But neither Sephiroth nor the guy who was not Sephiroth had any official speech giving training. Of course, Sephiroth didn't need any training, he was a born leader, a bastion of hope and inspiration (and fear) to people all across Gaia. The other guy, however, was not trusted to brief his men. A point that Rufus found completely ludicrous. If the president didn't trust him to give a simple speech, why was he leading the army? Regardless, Rufus' orders were to meet up with the men and deliver the briefing himself before handing the reigns over to Not-Sephiroth.
Any one of these three things would have put Rufus in a bad mood for the remainder of the day, but combined?
Rufus left his office a few moments later. "Clean that up." He said calmly to the random woman behind the desk. He had had so many secretaries it seemed as if every time he asked his secretary to do something there was a different person behind the desk, usually plain-looking women of varying degrees of middle-aged-ness. This particular instance, Rufus' command to "clean that up" referred to his office, where his filing cabinet had fallen onto the floor, the files therein being strewn everywhere, and his telephone somehow found its way off of his desk and right out the window.
Without breaking stride he walked down the hall. It seemed...empty. Without his little fan pacing up and down the place, the long walk down the hallway was very lonely. Another surge of heated anger passed through him. He thought he understood his father's reasoning for calling his Turks away. It was spite. President Shinra had recently suffered a blow to his pet project, Jenova, and in response he decided to deprive Rufus of his pet project, the Turks. It was hardly fair, but that's how Rufus understood it. He stopped at the end of the hall. He turned and looked down the empty hall sadly, almost longing to see her annoyingly chipper blond mug bouncing his way, that would have been a welcome sight just then. Or perhaps the always passive face of Pony-Tailed-Turk, hell, Rufus would even have accepted the company of Assy McAsserson, AKA Pilot-Turk. He didn't like not having anyone to boss around, but more than that, he didn't like not having anyone to talk to. All his life Rufus had been heavily involved in the company. He was raised here, spending most of his childhood time either studying or else in the company's day-care center. He became Vice-President the moment he graduated, and had been a figure-head of the company for many years before that even. The company was his life. The Turks may have been his employees, his pet project, his minions, but they were the closest things to actual friends he had ever had.
Rufus heaved a sigh and continued his hasty march down the adjacent hall. That's enough of my human side for one day. he thought to himself, turning his mind to the issues at hand, namely the speech he was to give, and his hatred of his father...but when was that not on his mind?
A few hours later he arrived at the site where the soldiers were gathered. He would have been there a lot sooner had someone not deprived him of his helicopter pilot. Still half-fuming, Rufus entered the make shift camp on the edge of Midgar, just inside the gates. He stood on the edge of the camp. He was to make contact with the leader, the guy who wasn't Sephiroth, before giving his "motivational" speech, but that was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Half the people there were wearing the exact same uniform in varying colors, they were the SOLDIER Operatives, and the other half were wearing such a wide assortment of outfits, from the most colorful that made Rufus' eyes hurt, to the completely mundane and downright boring. And since SOLDIER First Classes were permitted to wear whatever they deemed appropriate, a more fitting metaphor would have been trying to find a single tree amidst a forest.
Rufus sighed, and then walked directly into the camp proper. Normally when he entered somewhere everyone grew silent and stopped to look at him, and they did so now, as well, though it took them longer to settle down than it normally would have. It seemed he commanded less of the people's attention when he didn't have half a dozen blue-suited men with guns to back him up... another surge of annoyance passed through him at the absence of his Turks. He sighed yet again, and waited until he was sure he had everyone's full attention...
The demon sighed as he looked up at the night's sky, he was sat on one of Galbadia's artillery imported from Galbadia, several of the Soldiers approached him, their footsteps alerting the sharp eared demon, he turns his head to look at them and smiles faintly before he hopes down. As he lands the demon is saluted by Biggs and Wedge.
"Sir, aren't you celebrating with the off duty soldeirs?"
The armoured duo asked him formally, causing the demon to smirk and shake his head slightly as he looks down at the pair, he starts to speak softly in a tone full of memories.
"No, I've been in too many battles I'm not one to celebrate until I have the enemies head on a platter, too many things can happen in the mean time."
The Demon then looks back upto the barracks and chuckles at the sounds of celebration, remembering that in the old Gaia Galbadia had lost against Midgar and had ended up being conquered by Shin-Ra until the Hive came to power.
"How about you two please gather some men who are on duty and aren't drunk and guard these weapons and I'll go and keep our lovely sorceress company on this lovely night"
"Sir"
The two officers saluted in acknowledgement allowed the demon to slowly walk towards Blue's tent, he had promised to explain himself to her.
"Ha~"
The demon sighs and looks up at the nights sky once more, so many memories, so much history he thought and looking at the night sky only brought more memories of the numerous wars he fought in, in his two hundred years.
"The difference I've made in this fight, is it enough for us to win againt Shin-Ra?"
The demon pondered to himself as he slowly walked along to path to Blue's tent, candle's lighting up the tent clearly in the centre of the camp, the Demon looked around and saw no guards standing by her tent. The demon sighed once more and keeps walking over to the tent, leaning against one of the poles that held it up he shouted inside.
"Sorceress? are you up? you wanted a talk so I'm here to talk"
The demon smiled softly again looking up to the night sky, laughing to himself at how often he'd done that tonight, the air seemed to be full of memories for some reason. He hears her voice grant him permission and he rolls off of the pole and steps inside of the tent and bows to her gracefully.
Fides...well, Fides loitered. He leaned against one of the poles supporting the debriefing platform, exuding an air of nonchalance and gentle amusement as his glaive glinted in the final rays of the fading sun. He had never been involved in an outright war before, though he had hunted monsters and such for The Company. He wondered if it could be as bad as his old man's old man had said it was. Of course, his grandpappy wasn't SOLDIER, but still, he clearly still hated talking about the old war and, when he did, it was with a tremor in his voice. For a while, Fides had thought it was patriotism, but over time he had come to realize that it was lingering fear and disgust. More than fifty...no, sixty years now had passed since the war his grandad had fled here to escape, deserting his post with several of his regiment after one of the great battles.
He came back to Gaia shortly as Rufus, the President's son, entered the "camp," presumably to debrief them. Fides was slightly surprised to see he wasn't trailed by any Turks. He stood slightly more to attention, scanning the crowd for Zack. He'd want to talk to the Vice President before any speech was given.
After a quick scan of the crowd didn't reveal his position, Fides shrugged and leaned back, figuring that Zack would know something was up from the way the crowd was paying attention to one spot. He began mentally preparing himself for battle, running through some simple movements in his mind, followed by a relaxing roll of the shoulders, loosening the muscles and removing tension. Then he waited. *********************************************************************** Post Count: 286 Thread Count: 286
Fortune hadn't seen fit to deal Selle an adequate hand this day. Here he was, on the front lines of godforsaken wasteland about to get shot, stabbed, incinerated, or worse, all because the Shinra shanghaied him into the service. They didn't even see fit to allow Selle to change into adequate battle gear, throwing him out here in the boonies still wearing his faded pinstripe suit and bowler hat! He had been accused of many things, but never a fashion faux paus! This was embaressing in the extreme for a man in Selle's position, which was getting more precarious by the minute.
But, how exactly did he get into this horrible mess in the first place? Well, it started one day on his way back from the Seventh Heaven. He had picked up a good haul from the sallow-minded braggarts who thought they could beat him in a simple coin-flip. They were so outraged the first time that they just kept betting and betting until their pockets dried up. Eventually, they groused and left sullenly, one or two complaints, but nothing major. He paid for last drink of the day, with a very large tip to the bar hostess in apology for bankrupting the customers, gave a broad wink to Tifa, and headed out. He even made a quick flip before he left to see whether or not he would be coming back soon. It came up heads, and she joked that all the time he was spending over in her bar, he might as well move in.
"Was that an invitation, my dear? Because you bloody well know that I'd jump on that opportunity in a second," he replied with a sly grin. Tifa just rolled her big brown eyes at him and told him to be off. So, Selle chuckled and headed through the door. The day had ended well for him.
Or so he had thought. It seemed that the old goons he had outplayed of their Gil were sore losers. For on the way home, Selle saw a contingent of SOLDIER troops advancing on him from the other end of the street, the group of discontents right behind. They shouted, "That's him! He stole our money!"
Selle shook his head at this miserable turn of events. Now he would be delayed from his apartment for the night because these imbeciles waylaid him and forced him into an interrogation with these guards. Selle sighed and was about to explain, when the head SOLDIER, a female officer with red hair beneath her cap, grabbed him roughly by his arm, saying, "You're under arrest, Mr. Rookwood. As such, you will be serving your time on the front lines in the next campaign against the Galbadian troops."
Well... this was surprising in the extreme! Not to mention a little mortifying. Selle wasn't a fighter by any means. All he had on him was his handgun, which he was grateful they didn't check him for, because they gave him no other weapon. They probably assumed that he would be used as cannon fodder. How degrading!
So, he was trussed up, shoved into a van, shuttled out of the city, and deposited on a dust basin along with another group of soldiers and poor degenerates who got the wrong draw, as well. Selle later found out from one of those serving with him that he most likely didn't do anything wrong. It was just that Shinra was so desperate for troops on the frontlines that they would pick up an accused man on the streets and have it justified that he was a criminal. Quite a revolting development, to say the least.
So, here he was, an out-of-place gambler in the middle of a battlefield against an entire army of the finest of Galbadia's footsoldiers. Ho hum.
"Well," Selle said to no one in particular, "If I'm goin to die unfairly, I may as well acquaint myself with the other poor saps that will share my fate, as well.
So, he walked for awhile along the dusty track, past nervous, grumbling souls whom he judged at a glance would be no fun to talk to at all. Finally, he came upon a person who aroused his interest. This man was about the same height and build as Selle, with faded garments that looked like the remains of a business suit for some Shinra exec officer. He had a few bits of armor strapped to him oddly in some places, and he held a katana in one hand.
Selle smiled and stood right next to him, absently flipping his grandpa's lucky coin in the air over and over again to keep him occupied. He then turned to his new companion and asked, "So, what do you think it'll be, chum? Heads or tails?"
" Movement confirmed within Galbadia camp....looks like they're having a party down there". Zack grinned to himself as he looked down from atop a cracky face of rocks, below the Galbaians were partying, celebrating the previous victory and the coming one. But they had no idea about tonight...the forces of Midgar would launch a suprise attack during this party and take them completely off guard. This was a great plan, and he had the chance to work with the hero Sephiroth once again.
"How are their numbers?"
Zack gave another scan with the binoculars and then slowly whispered into the radio. " Quite a lot of them....we're outnumbered...but not by much....mercenaries seem to be on the western side of the Galbadian camp, they don't look like they're blending in too well....". The voice on the radio seemed to grunt to confirm this. " What about that demon in the last fight....where is he...". Zack responded to this by looking around for the demon. Although finding one person in a crowd like this would usually be like looking for a needle in a hay stack the demon with his purple skin and attire wasn't too difficult to spot.
" Near a weapons cache....looks like he's the only one still battle minded...seems to be throwing about orders....".
The voice on the radio seemed to let out a quiet laugh. "Well he is a general....prepare to start the attack....". Zack looked back slightly. " What about Rufus' speech?". The radio was silent for a moment. " Its supposed to be a secret mission...if golden boy wanted a speech he should have done it before we left....we don't need him shouting out our position...I repeat prepare for that attack....". Zack nodded and drew his sword. He let out a bestial howl, that sounded exactally like a fang would in these parts of the wastes. Although the music in the Galbadian camp would be enough to drown out even a shout. Zack didn't want to take his chances.....the SOLDIER and mechanised divisions moved into attack formation...." Ready for Sephiroth's signal....". A soldier next to him looked curious. " Sir just what is Sephiroths signal?". Zack smirked.
Slowly and steadily...a lone figure entered on the northern side of the camp....his large sword drawn, his silver hair flowing in the wind. For a few seconds the soldiers nearby didn't even notice him. But then one did. And panic broke out. A sword through the chest of one and unleashing countless slashes on others that suprassed the eyes ability to follow. He raised his hand and fires erupted all over the camp, chaos was begining to errupt. At first dealing with Sephiroth alone seemed like a feestable task. However thats when the plan was set into motion.
Soldiers sitting with the galbadians drew their blades and stabbed them into their allies chests. They removed their helments only to reveal....that they were Shinra SOLDIERS in disguise! Sephiroth's unit had infiltrated the Galbadians ranks...and now a party was becoming a slaughter. Sephiroth working like a biological meat grinder and cutting up any enemy that got in his path. Fear had overcame the Galbadians ranks....officers would have to work quickly to control this chaos.
As if things wern't bad enough in the Galbadian camp Zack's forces were now swarming down the hill towards the Galbadian encampment.
Galbadian Camp [ Zero]
He sat there staring into the fire as he sharpened his blade, running the whetstone across its shining surface, this was a mantra, a ritual for him. He didn't drink like the other soldiers before a fight. it dulled the senses made you more likely to take a blade in the gut, or a bullet in the head. He was in the mercenary side of the camp. Most of the people here wern't drinking either. It was silent on this side of the encampment. Mercenaries were usually retired soldiers. Or experienced warriors. And they, and he....knew what was coming.
The next battle would be a slaughter. And every other battle past that. It wasn't a case of winning or losing. Merely staying alive. And to Zero, he had something to stay alive for. This battle would fund Adiona's pilgrimidge. And as her guardian it was something that he needed to do. To help his summoner on er long journey, not just with his sword. But with his wallet too. As egear as Spirans were to see the end of Sin. It also seemed not to matter if you charged a summoner. It seemed wrong. But that was the way things were.
He heard the sound of a fang calling out in the night. Probably got its first kill.....but of course...thats when things went to hell. He saw the demon general move into the sorceress' tent. And then the screams went up...and the music slowly began to stop. In front of him one of the soldiers stood up drew his sword and then-. There was a mass pain in his arm...the soldier had just stabbed him in the shoulder. There was no thought as Zero draw back his gauntlet and cut the mans throat. His helmet fell off as he hit the ground. There was a tattoo on the back of his ear...the shinra logo.....the army had been infiltrated. This was an ambush. To the south more Shinra troops began to pour in....
She lay on the bed still dressed in her blue jeans and white top, one hand out stretched to the cieling of the tent, she was looking inbetween the fingers focusing on the unseen, it was her method of meditation she would use this to empty her mind and relax. Her mind had been so busy and full recently with new goals and thoughts, a breeding ground for distrust and second guessing. She breathed in deeply and shut her eyes and lowered her hand onto her forehead.
"ignite"
she whispered and quickly stretching out the other hand pointing towards a candle on the desk firing a fire spell off at the wick lighting the candle.
"ignite"
She whispered again swing her arm up over her at another candle at the head of the bed, smiling faintly she softly blows on her finger as if it was the barrel of a gun, she lets the arm wrap around her waist as she smiles faintly now basking in the candle light as she starts to speak faintly.
"this wasn't appart of your plan, but it'll help with the power and technology that we'll gain from taking out Shin-Ra and taking over Midgar, it won't put us a head of Esthar but it will bring us upto par with them and we should be able to easily dispatch SeeD and hunt down the key. Belzera will be a great tool as well, if we can trust him"
She smiles again, although this one was more malicious in intent as she opens her eyes to stare at the cieling, her mind thinking as her lips moved.
"Although I wonder how easily I could take out a demon lord? One who if legends said spent his life surviving, I've fought him and he does whatever he can to survive.... unless he is angered I suppose, but if I where to anger him I'd lose my surprise, he isn't dumb enough to fall for any traps and as he said if I tried to use his own skills on him he'd annul the contract, so I guess if the tricky bastard took to the air I'd be unable to hit him."
She lets out a soft chuckle as she imagines the possible ways of attempting to kill her demon knight, she chuckles after a few more minutes which seemed to her more like hours since most of the methods involved betraying a demon who pledged his loyalty to her.
"Where is the de-"
She started as the demon called her from outside, she sits up and looks to the tent flat and breathes in softly while she swings herself around, biting her lip before she pushes herself to stand, stepping towards the flat before calling out to the demon
"Yeah you can get in here and explain yourself fully Belzera."
She crosses her arms and stands leaning her weight onto her right leg as she stared at the demon intently, a serious and cold expression across her face as she watched the demon bow to her, she raises an eyebrow and asks him simply
"You have something to tell me?"
The demon nodded and then spoke something to her, her eyes widened in surprise but she showed no disbelief in his words, in fact she suddenly understood lot more about the demon.
"Well I guess that explains alot..."
Blue luaghs softly and turns around on her back heel and then it all began screams and confusion rose from the merry sounds and Blue's laughter drops and she turns to the demon glaring.
"Defend the weapons and rally the men now!"
Blue then ran out of the tent and stood around looking at the choas that had erupted in the camp, she breathes in and bites her lip roughly as the demon erupts from the top of the tent and starts to bellow out
The Demon spread out his wings wide and raises a hand upto the cieling of the tent and spun around in the air as he took in the bird's eye view of the tent, he could see the chaos unfold quickly however he notices the Silver haired Shin-Ra warrior had entered through the north of the camp as many other SOLDIERs where butchering his own men while even more where charging down the hill to the encampment. The Demon then bellows out
"Galbadians get your asses into gear now, Shin-RA scum are charging down the encampment to us, Would the Sorceress and men please focus on dealing with the men in camp. Zero, Tzigone you deal with the bastard son Sephiroth, I am going to deal with the Soldier's rushing us from the hill"
The Demon then grins and spreads out his arms as he called forth an insane number of adonis copies before he luanches himself towards the charging mass lead by Zack, The demon shuts his eyes as he speeds to the ground, firing off the barrage at the ambushing Soldiers and crashes into the ground, rolling for a few moments before he stands up dusting himself off as he faces the charging men, a cold chill creeping out from him and across the battle field
"Hello fools, prepared to die in a heroes charge?"
The demon cruely speaks his hands spread out as if beckoning them to come towards him, as behind him two rows of his purple blades appeared in the air making 24 seperate blades, half aimed at Zack while the rest where aimed at the top of the hill. The demon then brings his hands together and claps firing off the demonic barrage towards their targets the air exploding as they break the speed of sound and fly to their targets.
*Cecil walked around outside the camp of Midgar. He gave some thought if he should join the frontal assault with Zack's crew. He paced back and forth pondering what to do.* "Should I join them? What's in it for me?" *He still didn't know why he was here. In the midst of war, what was he destiny?*
After ten minutes, he stared at the up in the sky and sigh. "Why?" *He then looked down and start kicking the dirt. That last fight against Jenova took a lot out of him, but he manage to recuperate. After a few moment he rolls his neck and relaxed his muscle.* "Might as well join the fight." *He walked in and looked around. There were a lot of SOLDIERS here preparing for the battle. He looked around and notice Fides was there. He walked up to him to have a chat with him.* "Hey Fides. How you've been? Oh by the way, do I have to sign up somewhere?"
Buddy’s fuming had reduced itself to annoyance now. He had accepted his position for the time being and now had somewhat of a goal on how to proceed afterwards. Now he stood in the midst of a bunch of nobodies waiting for the grand pick-me-up from the Vice President Rufus Shinra. Buddy shook his head at the thought of what that grown brat might try to say. Rufus Shinra wasn’t known for his tact or soft mannerisms, he said what he felt like saying when he felt like saying it. Buddy had seen it on the news plenty of times before when “Baby Shinra” was talking to the Midgar media.
Speak of the Devil. Rufus Shinra entered the camp, not by trademark “Whirl-y-bird”, but by car. Buddy cocked his head to the side a bit a lifted an eyebrow at the sight, but shrugged it off, figuring it to be a pretty lame story. Buddy moved to the front of the group, getting a better glimpse of Rufus and his ridiculous white uniform. As Rufus passed by him to move to where he would give his grand speech, Buddy became lost in thought, forgetting his recent disposition towards Shinra and overlooking his latest predicament of being thrown into a war; now he was several years in the past.
He stood tall in his office on the sixty-sixth floor of the Shinra headquarters. He had rose the ranks faster than almost any other employee there and was now sitting just a few floors below the President himself as the Chief Security Officer of the building. Though he had the handicap of being a mute he had leapt over the hurdles of discrimination to sit on top of those who doubted, belittled and those who attempted to sabotage his ascension. His suit was clean and pressed, his hair was neatly taken care of, though that was nothing new, his hair was always a priority to him, and he just bought new shoes. Today was the day he would move even higher, into the position of “Turk”.
Buddy shook his head, regaining his surroundings. He looked around to see the same smelly and faceless mob, Rufus Shinra standing around, looking annoyed and the rocky outskirts of Midgar that would play host to tonight’s bloody battle. He shook his head from side to side and sighed. Bunch of bigots… A weak ring started to sound to the side of Buddy, causing him to arch his eyebrows.
“So what do you think it’ll be chum?” Buddy turned his head to the side to find a man flipping a coin next to him. Buddy found that he was being addressed by a man who slightly reminded him of himself (at least fashion wise). He wore a tired and tattered old suit complimented by gloves, a hat and glasses. Buddy looked a bit unnerved as he looked at the fashion this man sported, that was different, but at the same time, felt quite familiar to his own attire. “Heads or tails?”
Without moving his head, Buddy watched the man flip his coin a couple more times gathering a rhythm for his toss. The third time Buddy, reached out and snatched the coin out of the air and held his clenched fist still in the air. He looked at the stranger and gave a wry smile and tapped his temple with two fingers signaling his choice. He hoped it would be heads; heads was considered lucky if you found it facing you on the ground, so maybe it would pass on through this flip. He turned his fist over and opened his hand, noticing the head side facing up in his palm. Buddy looked over to the stranger with a smirk and dropped the coin in the palm of his hand. Though Buddy didn’t want to admit it, it was nice to have another person talking to him. He felt so alone in this mass of people, more than likely from his general dismal outlook on the situation. He opened his coat and pointed to a sticker that sat on the breast of his shirt. It read, “Hello my name is …Buddy”. He grabbed the free hand of the stranger and shook it in a “nice to meet you” fashion, maybe a little harder.
Suddenly a large explosion came from the valley beneath them. Buddy, quickly turned the direction the noise came from and soon soft yells came from the same point. And then to top it off one of the top ranked members gave out a long howl to the night sky and people started charging the direction of the yells and explosions.
Buddy looked around wild eyed for a moment, What the hell? Everything was happening so fast, there was no preparation for them, nothing to tell the men who were about to risk there lives for there energy company to even begin to mentally prepare for what was about to come! Or perhaps, Buddy had just missed it amongst all of his dwelling on his circumstances. Nevertheless, this was happening now! He closed his eyes and shook his head. He let in and out a few deep breaths and tapped his foot a couple times to find a rhythm. He looked up to his new “war buddy” with a new determined look in his eyes and snapped his fingers. A blue shield formed around the front of him as he casted his Protect spell. Drawing his blade from its sheath on his back, Buddy joined the charge!
It became cold and what looked like a dozen blades were shot at the charging line, one managing to blow Buddy's hair into disary as it sped by his head at sonic speed piercing the chest of the unfotunate man behind him. I’m not dying tonight. He told himself as he ran to the beginning of the hills slant. Shinra owes me for this. He let his katana down to his side and let it trail behind him a bit. All these other monkeys can fall to the side, He started to smile a little bit. Cause I’ve got a gig… He leapt up on the shoulders of one of men and used it to propel him forward in the charge. He used the heads and shoulders of the others as stepping stones, until he reached front lines and leapt from the final shoulder as the opposing sides tried to push each other back. He stretched his feat out as a surprised Galbadian looked up in time to receive Buddy’ shoe print on his helmet. Perhaps it was just his imagination, but Buddy could almost make out the words “nice shoes” as he rolled from the landing and stood up swinging at a nearby enemy. He cut him across his bicep, causing him to drop his weapon, from the lack of strength now unable to support it. Buddy swung himself around three quarters, building momentum in outstretched arm knocking back and slightly stunning another enemy soldier for a precious second, giving Buddy the time to swing back in the opposite direction with his sword rising up from his side across the mans chest. Noticing another running up to him during his turn, Buddy used his momentum to augment the force behind his fist as he connected with the unprotected neck of the soldier with his fist, making him stumble. Buddy stopped his turn and swung with his blade from the side up through the man, subsequently making him fall to the ground lifeless. For a couple seconds he had made himself a little clearing. In that spare second in time, Buddy flicked his free hand with four fingers out, signaling his count. They’re gonna pay me for each one I bring down.

Fides smiled at Cecil as he walked up. "I've been alright. I'd get ready, dude, they're about to start the charge. The kid ain't gonna get to give his happy little inspirational speech. And there we go!" Zack howled like a wild animal and Fides shrugged his way out of his slouch, flipping his glaive to his hand easily. "Meet you out there, buddy!" And with that, Fides was gone, running after Zack, caught up in the adrenaline of his first real battle since he started playing SOLDIER. He hung back, remaining several steps behind Zack as they charged.
Then the demon swooped in. Fides didn't really register what it said, but he sure as hell noticed it's attack. He twirled to avoid one of the swords and cast Gravity at them, hoping to slow them enough that the non-SOLDIER personnel would be able to avoid them. Unfortunately, he cast it a little too strong and half of the swords not aimed at Zack dropped like stones, straight towards the mob milling below, confused by their leaders' sudden stop. "LOOK OUT!!" he yelled, trying to make himself heard over the clamor of the crowd. Some looked up and got out of the way, but others didn't and this battle saw it's first Shinra casualties. Fides barely noted the katana-wielding man who used him a springboard to get past the demon as he took in the thought that he had failed. He had sworn to himself that no one on his side would die as a result of his actions...and it had happened. In the first two minutes, it had happened. His fault. His men. His fault. He had killed them. His men. His responsibility. His fault. He dropped to his knees and his glaive hit the ground next to him, forgotten as he looked at his hands. He saw them stained red with blood, despite knowing he had not yet touched an enemy or even been near those who died. Then he felt something else. He felt anger.
He hadn't attacked, it was that demon, he wasn't to blame, it was that damn demon's fault. He buried his guilt under umbrage, shame and pain under indignation.
His mind shut down as he stood, picking up his glaive as he turned to face the demon, feral rage showing in his fixed grin, his flashing eyes. "Let's bring you back to Gaia...GRAVITY!" he quipped, casting the spell under the demon as he stepped forward. If you looked into his eyes, you would see nothing but self-righteous ire, with perhaps a touch of fresh pain and self-loathing underneath, buried deep. Fides barely existed right now, lost in boiling temper. The aura of fear that surrounded the demon was overcome, at least for him, by blind fury. He attacked.
He threw himself into a spiral at the demon, the specially-reinforced blade of his glaive glowing white-hot as he spun faster and faster, the oxygen in the atmosphere igniting and the friction from air resistance contributing to the heat. He covered the distance so quickly that a sonic boom was heard and vapor trails could be seen coming off of his toes and elbows as his body, unbidden by his mind, elongated itself to form a more aerodynamic shape. You'llpayyousunovabitchyou'llpaymycomradesmyfaultdamnityou'llpayyou'llpaydiedieDIEDIE... "DIIIIIIIIE!!!!!!!!!!!! GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" he screamed as he spiraled out of control in more than one way.
He had faced war, and he had lost his mind, at least temporarily. ****************** Post Count: 601 Thread Count: 887 OOC: Allow me to apologize most profusely, I managed to messily murder thread continuity and confuse everyone. When the stranger with the katana caught Selle's lucky coin deftly, the gambler had to stop himself from sqwaking in protest. After all, that coin was an heirloom in his family. His grandpa had personally given it to him before he ran away to the Gold Saucer to make his fortune. But, he saw the grin on the other man's face, as well as his pick and result, and knew that there was nothing to be worked up about. As the coin was dropped back into his gloved hand, Selle allowed the grin to spread to his face, as well.
He then noticed the sticker on the man's faded suit: "Hello, my name is... Buddy." If he couldn't even say his own name, then Selle surmised that the man was a mute, but apparently no one to take advantage of, judging from the katana. So, after the rather rough handshake from his new friend, the gambler, pointed to himself, and replied, "Pleased to make your aquaintance, Buddy. Name's Selle, a..." he cast around for the right word, then settled on, "... gentleman of fortune, if you will." The gambler looked over to the front of the line, replying, "Well, here's hoping we make it through this long enough to celebrate our new friendship, eh Buddy?"
It was then that all hell broke loose. Explosions split across the night sky, shattering the silence that had been so pent up moments before, to replace it with the screams of the charging and the dying. Selle nearly jumped up in alarm at the sudden action, but again controlled himself. He then saw his new friend encase himself in a Protect barrier and run headlong into the fray. Selle gave a surprised yelp and proceeded to follow him, crying, "W-w-wait, hey, come back! HEY... oh bugger."
It was never Selle's intention to be in a battle. Hell, it was never Selle's intention to be in half of the messes he found himself in day after day. Accumulating debt, running from the collectors, trying to scrape together a living beneath Midgar, and now being a part of a battle he never even wanted to be in! Why was Lady Luck turning such a blind eye to him?
But, deep within him, Selle knew the answer to that question. This was merely a rough play by the dealer. The house, intentionally or not, had dealt him such a crummy hand that he could either die from it, or soldier on and do all he could to survive. Folding was hardly an option, since Selle had a strong suspicion that deserters would be shot on sight, so, if he didn't want to leave with nothing, he would have to grin and bear it as long as he could.
So, casting a Protect over himself as a meager shield, the gambler hung to the back of the charging line, away from the main hail of bullets and other nasty projectiles hurled from the Galbadians. Penetrating the threshold of the camp, Selle looked all over for some semblance of cover to shoot, and ultimately hide, from, when a Galbadian guard, probably in his thirties, probably scared stiff from the surprise attack, saw this unarmed gambler walking around, and decided to charge him, sword held high over his head.
Selle backpedalled furiously to keep the meager distance between him and the crazed soldier relatively large, as he scrambled to get his own firearm up in time. Luckily, he had loaded it previous to the charge, so the gambler pulled the short barreled handgun up in front of him and pulled the trigger. He looked as the bullet passed right in between the soldier's eyes, and he quickly crumpled to the bloody ground, lifeless. Selle breathed a quiet side of relief. He wasn't as particular about taking lives as, say, someone like Tifa would have been. He knew about survival and the risks run by every person in the world. In this kind of dangerous setting, you either were the one with the gun, or you weren't. And the ones with guns tended to live the longest of the two, he learned.
But all the same, he didn't kill unless provoked, and in this particular scene, there were plenty of people to fit the bill. So, Selle kept his tiny firearm up and loaded, searching through the chaotic mess of men slaughtering men, and he found Buddy, his katana blade already bloodied. But, a Galbadian was sneaking up behind him quietly, sword drawn.
Before he could think further, Selle brought the barrel of his handgun up and shot the soldier in the chest, dropping him like a stone, just as he was about to bring his own sword down on Buddy's exposed back. The mute swordsman looked over to the gambler, and Selle gave a little thumb's-up at his friend, moving beside him.
"How 'bought this, Buddy: the person who gets his hide saved the most ends up buying the next round of drinks, agreed?"
Cecil watched as the night sky soon became bombarded with explosion and projectile. He summon his Lightbringer, stretches his muscles, and take a deep breath. "Let's do this." He cast Protect on himself and saw a Demon coming toward the charging Shinra troops.
He charged toward to th top of the hill, but it was too late. By the time he got there, the swords already hit it target. Everywhere he look, a Shrina troop falls to the blades of the swords. He did not panic, but still it was painful to watch. He was in much worse situation in the past. This was nothing compared to his other experienced.
He looked at everyone, watching the horrors of war. This was not his first war nor was it gonna be his last. He was use to the violence and agony of it. Even though he was a noble back in his world, he still was a knight.
He quickly ran over to see if any Shinra manage to be alive after what happen. He found some alive but barely. "Hang on you'll be alright." *He cast a Cure on all of them and quickly help the group retreat back to the camp.
Just to make sure, he cast a Protect on all of them to keep them safe. They eventually made it to the camp, and look back at the hill. He saw Fides attacking the Demon in a spiraling move, as if he could not control it. He had to help him. He ran up to the hill again, and when he got there, he kept a safe distance from Fides in order not to be hit. He held his sword tightly and got into his battle stance and waits for his moment. This madness had to end. Already many troops have died, and more could get killed if this Demon wasn't stop.
Fides has already apologised, and I think Cecil will be editting his post.
Don't want to see this again, small threads continuity issues can be a problem, but on threads of this scale its a massive issue. So please keep up with events))
The Demon smirked as the gravity spell appearred around him, attempting to pin him to the earth, the demons wings however stood strong as he opened them wide, his eyes focusing on the charging mass of men infront of him along with the sole man who was now charging in what appeared to be a maddening fury, The demon however gave several might flaps of his wings and luanches himself up of the ground, his bones aching slightly from the effects of the gravity spell.
"I am a demon lord, the earth cannot hold me you dribbling mad man"
The demon grins as a small purple ball of light no bigger than a pencil forms infront of his mouth and stretchs out his hands and summons forth two rows of Adonis's in the air behind him, for his demonic barrage, this mad man had lost his mind in battle and had thus forfieted his life due to his reckless charge, this was after all war. The Demons eyes sharpened and everything seemed to slow as he rose in the air the two dozen blades all aimed at the spot where the fool would move past, the blades would hit him at a supersonic speed and run through his body anyway nearly killing as well as smacking him into the ground where the Hecto flare forming infront of his mouth would pierce through the man as Belzera drops to the ground and impales the man with the true adonis in his hands which was now glowing with the colour of pure darkness as Dark Eborus was starting to take effect him or the sonic boom would knock him from the air into the ground and the Hecto flare would pierce through the man as Belzera drops to the ground and impales the man with Dark Eborus embued Adonis.
"Demonic Barrage"
He mutters timing it just right firing off those 24 blades at Fides' it would be nigh on impossible for the man to evade the swords and the sonic boom in his frenzied state, Belzera Hears the sonic boom and then lets out a deadening roar mimicing that of the King of Dragons as the Hecto Flare fires at its target and Belzera drops down by collapsing his wings into his back, with the point of the Adonis aimed down at where body of Fides is, the blade ready to impale the man and drain away the last of his life without mercy.

Before I move onto the most important thing, can I just remind people that Belzera has a passive ability that induces Fear of him into people and makes them at base instinct want to flee from him, this is always on and frankly makes him very very dangerous if you consider the impact of this post as this post is as Malice said OVERKILL
Anyway a word to everyone else in the thread, no one is pyshically close enough or quick enough to save Fides life as this would all happen in a split second or two, you might be able to dash across towards him or attempt to interfer but nothing is gonna be successful.
Now to Fides, no hard feelings dude but you have a very small chance of surviving this so I'm going to explain how demonic barrage works and your options and then I'm going to tell you my thoughts.
1. Take all 24 Swords, you get smashed into the ground and then get killed anyway by the Hecto-flare and then Dark Eborus.
2. Try to evade, do not hit the 3600 words to successfully evade the sonic boom produced by the Technique and then get smashed into the ground (where you normally need to spend the next post getting back up anyway) and then get killed by the Hecto-flare and then Dark Eborus.
3. You evade, hitting the 3600 words to evade both the sonic boom and the blades and then you could either take the next two tech's.
So yeah those are your three options, now to be honest you basically said your character had lost it aka gone of the deep end so realistically 1 is the only thing that would happen since someone who has gone off the deep end doesn't think at all and thus wouldn't evade.
((OOC: I'll talk to Belzera concerning the ins and outs of this. But Fool, try to post more, otherwise it just seems as if you were jumping in with no objective OTHER than to block this attack. I would have disallowed this had you not been in the previous war event. But since you were it allows a little leeway. Also a note. According to the rules of death on this site, it is NOT permanent. The person can be easily ressurected by using life. or going to a temple, or a moogle.
Judgement
The fools post will be voided and ignored. Reasons.
1, The fool in your post you mention buildings, this war is taking place in the outskirts of Midgar. So clearly you havn't read anything beyond what Belzera did
2, Your magical and sudden appearance in this thread for this is too convienant.
3, In the last war event you worked for the Galbadians. You neither mentioned to me. Or to Belzera that you were a spy before.
To fides, it all depends on what you do. If you take the blades you can still avoid the other attacks by outwriting Belzera's word count in that post. Therefore surviving. But just remember your char is in a frenzy.
((Wait... in the Prelude to War event I mentioned that I was... I know I did. And that took place after the first war event, right? That's why Vale was so worried about being found out in the Prelude to War thread... Oh boy...
And yes, I do realize that it was uncanny that Vale appeared just to help Fides- but I didn't even consider the Raise spell or anything like that... Although- you have to admit- Belzera's attack doesn't seem like it'd leave anything behind TO raise, would it? I mean... 24 swords, sonic boom and two uber spells... Idk...
Anyway- I'm deleting my post until I figure out what exactly is going on... I played the Prelude to War thread like it took place after the first event. If that's not the case- then I'll still be working for Galbadia. If it is, I'll be working for Midgar- all right? Please PM me with your answer... And sorry about everything, Belzera and Malice.))
A heavy grunt ended with another Galbadian falling lifeless before Buddy. After exchanging a couple of blows with the soldier, Buddy had caught the man's rhythm and with their next clash, Buddy made a slight push forcing the man to follow his momentum a bit more than he intended, giving Buddy the advantage of time to adjust his blade and bring it back down across the soldier's chest, ending their conflict. Buddy let out a deep breath and tried to regain a bit of himself as he opened his palm completely, spreading his fingers out. This one lying on the ground at Buddy's feet made number five and he would be moving on more before this encounter ended. Five…
Two years earlier…
Buddy's laugh sounded more like a wheeze as he nearly fell off the bar stool. Next to him with his head on the bar top snorting in laughter was Miguel, while the rest of the bar lifted and tilted their collective heads, trying to figure out what was so funny. Miguel was taller than and a bit broader than Buddy. He wore dirty white slacks and a red shirt with an open white vest, he had round glasses that hung off of his neck and a round straw hat giving off an overall islander effect. In Buddy's mind, Miguel was one of a kind. They had meet a couple of months earlier at some small bar in Sector Four when Buddy walked up to him nonchalantly and introduced himself in his normal fashion, exposing his "Hello my name is…" sticker. Miguel only laughed at the introduction, but not in malice or bigotry like most, but because laughing was simply what Miguel did best and it soon became infectious to Buddy. They would spend the rest of the night and early morning laughing as Miguel told stories of his island where the rest of his family was, and Buddy gave Miguel his own special way of telling stories with exaggerated gestures and facial expressions.
At first their encounters were coincidental, one noticing the other drinking, but it soon changed into planned meetings of which bar to attend, Buddy basing his decisions on which had the most beautiful staff and Miguel arguing against Buddy's choices with which had the best spirits. It almost didn't matter to Buddy though if they went where he wanted to or not, it would always end up with him and Miguel talking and laughing at least three times a week and now their friendship was going on its second month.
There were a few times where Buddy had contracts set up for the day after warned Miguel ahead of time that he wouldn't be drinking as much and to which he would reply with the appropriate, "Well then, I'll have to drink enough for you and me." Tonight was different however as Miguel said he wouldn't be drinking so much either. It didn't matter though, even without the drinks, the two grown men were in hysterics for most of the night, with Miguel's telling stories of his daughter and her dog back home, letters from friends back home, trying to explain on paper how big the fish they caught was and the events of the season. Buddy tried to explain the different levels of the Shinra Office and the weird things the science division was working on when he was around, but Miguel's reaction was no different and he simply laughed, which in turn, caused Buddy to begin laughing, making Miguel laugh at Buddy's strange laugh, causing Buddy to laugh even more. After several hours, Buddy paid his bill and waved Miguel goodbye, confirming that because of his newest contract he wouldn't be able to show up till the beginning of next week.
A shot rang out bringing Buddy back to the present. He turned with blade raise in hopes of being able to block whatever attack came with the shot and noticed the limp body with a Galbadian uniform fall behind him. Looking for the where the shot came from; Buddy found the smoking barrel belonged to the man with the coin, Selle. He was smiling and walked towards Buddy with his thumb up.
"How 'bout this Buddy: The person gets his hide saved the most ends up buying the next round of drinks, agreed?" Selle proposed seemingly jovial about reuniting with Buddy.
Buddy returned his proposition with a confused look until the pieces started falling into place. Selle had saved Buddy from the soldier now lying lifeless behind him.
Buddy gritted his teeth and shook his head out of frustration. He had been lost in the past in the middle of a battle field and was almost killed for his flippant daydreaming. If Selle hadn't been there, he and the soldier would probably be in each others position. He looked up to his "savior". He didn't like calling somebody that; it was him who was supposed to be saving people. He built his life on making sure others were safe, but when it came down to this crucial moment he left himself utterly defenseless.
Buddy reached out to shake hands and seal the deal, when he noticed that three Galbadians were running at Selle's blind spot. By pure instinct from his previous experiences as a bodyguard, Buddy didn't wait for Selle to reach for the handshake and grabbed his hand pulling him behind his back. He raised his katana to meet their charging blades. The first soldiers blade connected with his as the other moved to the side to flank Buddy. Buddy shifted his katana down and head butted the helmet of the first assaulting the soldier. Much to Buddy's chagrin, the helmet was apparently meant to protect its wearer from attacks to the head, and though Buddy managed to make the man stagger away to give him a chance to block the other Galbadian's attack, he now had a large lump on his forehead and a pounding headache. The second man's attack was driven down harmlessly to the soil where his blade (which was now apparently attached to the handle of a revolver) blasted a small crater throwing dirt and small rocks everywhere at high velocity. Several pebbles tore through Buddy's pants leg and scratched his leg enough to draw a bit of blood, but because of the adrenaline in his system, Buddy wasn't aware of the small injury. He continued to block attack after attack as the two alternated strikes against him.
Where is a third one! Buddy thought, but was too consumed with the other two to even give the last Galbadian any more thought. He could only hope that the other found another adversary to contend with.
Though Buddy was becoming overwhelmed, he started picking up a rhythm to the attacks of the two soldiers and subconsciously began to nod his head slightly with the beat he found. Waiting… The first one swung up as Buddy pushed against it using the man's momentum to move forward. The other swung from the side and Buddy pulled his sword to deflect that attack and spun out of the way with the next attack completely missing him and his sword. Summoning within himself a bit of extra energy, Buddy began to counterattack with quick fluid motion in his swings and thrusts, putting the two men on the defensive. He swung down with his katana on the first soldier making his sword falter and thrust his palm into the man's throat making him stagger back and choke on his Adams apple. Ducking underneath the others swipe and swept his outstretched leg underneath the soldier's, knocking him to the ground. Buddy rose up and gave a quick slash across the man's chest, making him drop his weapon and grab his chest in pain with wide eyes at his defeat. He counted with his hands six and seven then ran his palm across his mussed up hair.
Now, where was Selle and the third soldier?

Since Fides has failed to reply within 2 weeks of the attacks posting all attacks are counted as hits. Fide's character is now dead. Allies can drag him off field to be revived, but he will be unable to continue in this event.
As in all war events there are two ways to win. Rp the opponent into submission, OR defeat all the bosses on the opponents side of the field. Defeating bosses will gain large rewards for the person or person's defeating them.
Midgar:
Sephiroth: 5000 words to defeat ( can be done collectively and is highly suggested that you do) Information: Legendary soldier equipped with a nodachi with a massive close range combat reach. Attacks can move at long range due to air burst cuts from his blade. Has numerous magical spells. Is clearly the strongest person on the battlefield.
Rufus: Player based character. PvP combat.
Zack: 3000 words to defeat. Information: Equipped with his longsword and enhanced soldier training, this leader of the Midgar forces, although not as powerful as Sephiroth is a fierce front line fighter, not to be under estimated.
Galbadia
Belzera: PVP combat Information: General of enemy forces, powerful short range and long range attacks.
Blue: PVP combat Information: Enemy sorceress, powerful magic spells. Advised that you gang up on them.
Zero: PVP combat Information: Mercenary leader. Immensly powerful short range berserk attacks.
Due to the bosses of the Galbadian forces being pvp , should either Blue or Belzera be defeated the Midgar forces will automatically win.
Selle didn't know if it was the enemy attacking, his insufferable personality, or both. All he knew was that three seconds after he began to seal the deal with his new friend Buddy, he was thrown unceremoniously down to the dirt. But his escapade didn't stop there. Oh, no. He had the incredibly infinite good fortune to be right beside a steep incline which led right into the midst of the fighting between the Galbadians and Sephiroth's shock troops. And, being a little stunned by the unexpected move from Buddy launching him on his back, he shifted his body weight ever so slightly, causing him to topple fully down the hill in a cascade of blackened soil and debris, along with another Galbadian who had snuck past Buddy's notice to get to the downed gambler.
He couldn't see anything, much less get his bearings. Everything was little more than a pitching, heaving whirlwind of monochromatic dirt and soot, with a few painful stones pelting him from every concievable direction for good measure, colliding painfully with his exposed face and scratching at him through his faded suit. This hellish cyclone kept him in its embrace for Bahamut knows how long, but finally, someone decided that this ride was a little too bumpy for the kiddies and hit the brakes, bringing the whole spectacle to a sudden halt. Dizzily, Selle managed to figure out that his legs were still attached to the rest of his body, and began to crawl painfully and slowly to his feet, wiping off the black dust that had completely settled all over his pinstripe jacket and pants. A crack had appeared in his shades, which managed to elicit an outraged gasp from the irate gambler. Buddy will be paying for those! The good news was that his hat had miraculaously stayed glued to his head during the entire tumble down the incline.
But as far as fortune went, it pretty much stopped there. His appearance had garnered the attention of the other Galbadians who were currently not indisposed dealing with the SOLDIER offensive. And by the fierce gleam in their eyes, they weren't happy to see him, a fact which was made all-to-apparent when a few started to level the muzzles of their combat rifles at Selle. His mind raced furiously, trying to think of anything that could get him out of this dangerous situation. His panicked gaze finally fell over the soldier who had shared Selle's ride down the cliff. His head was cocked at an extreme angle, as if he broke his neck during the fall, and the fact that he didn't seem to be breathing gave further evidence to the point.
Good enough for me, Selle thought grimly.
The gambler executed a quick roll the fallen soldier's way, and his sudden movement caused the rifles from the other Galbadians to bark loudly, sending blackened dirt flying where he had stood moments before. Hardly allowing his mind to get in the way of instinctual moves, Selle grabbed the dead man by his heavy jacket and propped him right in front, serving as a meat shield to soak up the bullets fired his way. Thanks to the heavy padding of the uniform, many of the shots were halted, giving Selle quite a bit of breathing room. But as he looked through the opening of his newfound shield's arm, his expression turned fearful. The remaining soldiers saw that their guns weren't doing any good, so they abandoned their firearms and opted for the more direct approach of drawing their swords and charging straight at him. The gambler backed away as fast as he could, but the corpse was weighing him down more than he could afford, and the soldiers were closing in fast. He could count at least five or six of them, and all of their blades were aimed straight at him. What to do, what to do!?
Suddenly, his eyes focused on an object secured to his shield's belt. A grenade. Again, without even thinking, Selle grabbed the explosive, pulled out the pin, and rolled it straight into the oncoming horde of charging, bloodthirsty Galbadians. The resulting boom send dust and angry flames dancing in a wide radius, engulfing the soldiers and burning them to a crisp, while those on the sides were torn apart from the shrapnel thrown upon them from the ensuing explosion. Selle, with his protection, was duly insulated from the blast, and dug in until he peeped out cautiously, seeing that the charge had been effectively halted. Breathing a quick sigh of relief, Selle was about to toss his shield away and find some real cover, when he noticed three more grenades strapped to his belt. Well, waste not, want not...
With the new items stored away safely in his pockets, Selle discarded the body and began to crawl his way up the hill. The sounds of battle still echoed at him from every concievable direction. Wild shots ricocheted in the air directly above him, and the roar of trained Galbadian war hounds rebounded from the rear. It seemed like the Sorceress had regained control of the situation and was rallying a resistance to try and fight off the ambush. Zack's troopers were still held in thrall by the demon general, whatever his name was, and the few that managed to penetrate into the camp were gaining ground, but having a difficult time of it. Selle checked his own assets: his handgun was still loaded and cocked, and his new aquirements were stowed neatly in the pocket of his jacket. But his Protect spell was starting to wear off, possibly from the fall, and he knew that he needed every ounce of cover he could get. Recasting quickly, Selle scrambled the rest of the distance up the hill, and found Buddy slicing his way through two other guards. Thinking that it would be best not to just walk on him while wielding that katana, the gambler patiently waited for him to finish, and when he spun around, looking frantically for something (Selle could only assume he was looking for him), he cleared his throat loudly. It would be a testament to Buddy's hearing if he could actually hear him over the sound of fighting, so Selle spoke, "Oi, I'm still alive, chum. But I think we need to find cover and think of some kinda plan before we just rush headlong into a strom of bullets. There're plenty more soldiers for you to kill, but let's focus on staying alive."
With that, Selle looked around and, seeing a dugout abandoned shelter off to the side, motioned for his mute companion to follow and began to crawl around the combatants to find a clear path.
OOC: I was waiting for other character involved to post before I did, but if that isn't the case then I will post next. Unfortunately, this seems to be a very busy week for me and I definitely won't be able to post for at least a few days. I vote, keep the thread because I haven't really dealt with the battle system here for PvP and though I will likely get my ass handed to me, I would like to at least get a taste of it for in the future.
The battle was more heated than ever now, as both sides began driving at each other to find a defining point they could rally towards. Explosions, nearby gunshots, steel ringing against steel and magic being slung all over the place made things chaotic and nearly unrecognizable. Buddy had never been involved in an event this big and he was beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed at the massive amounts of people there still were left to fight. He could feel his protect spell fade away along with the comfort of knowing he was protected by it. Though his body seemed a bit fatigued, his mind was still sharp and ready and considering he had only used one magic spell, that wasn't so farfetched. He snapped his fingers and another blue shield lit up over him and then disappeared from sight. He looked around for Selle, but couldn't find him. Damn! He better not have gotten himself killed after I saved him…he's goin' to owe me a drink after this is over.
Suddenly, red seemed to fill his vision as a fireball came racing towards him. The fireball connected with his face and hit him with enough force to make him fly back a few feet, head first. His body went stiff as a board from natural reaction and time seemed to slow down while he was airborne. Owwww….., was the first thought he could muster for the situation followed closely by, Shell would have been a nice ability to have wouldn't it? And finally after what seemed like minutes, he hit the hardened soil hearing the clink of his katana hitting the ground next to him seconds later. He let out a huge breath of air from the impact leaving him completely out of breath. As he struggled to regain a regular breathing pattern he noticed the mage charging up another spell his way. Buddy picked himself up, his face was a bit dirty and charred, but there seemed to be no substantial burns from the attack. He gritted his teeth at the mage who let loose his second strike. He ducked down and picked up his sword, allowing the fireball to pass over head, but something wasn't right about what he saw…his shoes were scuffed…
Buddy's countenance changed almost immediately as he looked back to the mage. Instead of a face that was upset, Buddy showed an even more fierce appearance gazing at the mage who began to line up his third attempt. Nothing mattered right now except making that mage eat dirt. He tilted his head to the side and cracked it as he stared at this nobody. Who was this clown? He lowered his blade into the dirt and began a charge towards the poor soul. The mage let loose his fireball, but Buddy grabbed the nearest soldier near him and pulled him in front of himself, using him as a shield for the attack and throwing him to the side. He was close enough now… The hilt of his blade glowed lightly against the scene as Buddy let loose. He swiped up, down, to the side, diagonally, making quick cuts on the mage, but that wasn't the intention of the attack. Buddy swung himself around and brought the hilt of his katana against the mages neck, stamping him with the icon that symbolized the Silence status effect. The mage stood in fright as it lifted its arm to fire a quick attack then realized that it was unable to. Buddy just looked at him with a blank stare then grabbed the mages hair and forced it to the ground near his feet. Jolting his head in a rage, Buddy threw his head to the ground time and time again without a word being said. LICK MY SHOES! LICK MY SHOES CLEAN, YOU BASTARD! When the confused mage wouldn't do it, Buddy let go of his head and gave him a swift kick to the face, knocking him out and making him roll down the side of a nearby hill.
Buddy sighed, regaining a more stable state of mind and adjusted his suit and pushed up his glasses. Buddy gave a moments thought to what just transpired and realized that the fireball that had hit him, connected with his face and not anywhere lower. So it wasn't his fault my shoes are scuffed. He looked over the hill to see him still lying there on the side unconscious and just shrugged. There ain't no use regrettin' the past right? He grinned and counted out one more body on his hands as he flicked them out to the side. This gig is getting' old fast. I've gotta do what I can to end it and get my money.
He looked around and noticed a group of Shinra mercs, fighting a…Bat…man…. Dammit, a Lucavi. They were know as demon folk and though they weren't necessarily bad blood, there were some that were disgustingly powerful he had heard of from stranger's stories. This guy seemed like one of the disgustingly powerful ones. Of course, if Buddy managed to take him out, then there was no way the Shinra could ignore that. He grinned at the thought of the money he was going to earn. He lifted his sword from his side and charged to the demon lord his greed compelling him forward.

She stood there outside of her tent, not paying attention to the combat in her shock at how quickly Midgar had swept into the Camp, the screams of the batlle did not reach her ears however that was soon to end as several SOLDIERs rushed towards her.
Can you feel it? Can you feel it within these fools? I know you can do something with this can't you?
Blue nodded and her focus was brought down upon the the two SOLDIERS, she bent her knee's and leapt over the pair's attack, landing behind them she held out her hands, palms outstretched as a blue pencil point ball of light appeared in each palm, he lips move slowly and coldly. Her eyes where however not reflective of her voice as there was signs of joy and anger in them.
“Hecto Flare”
She utters as the two blasts rip through the SOLDIERs heads killing them instantly as she turns her attention to the camp once more, pressing her left hand onto her chest she breathes out as she casts a haste spell over herself boosting her speed further.
You can, wonderful, you can sense it in the air and in Midgar's foolish elite's. Mana such a wonderful thing.
Blue nods and scans the camp quickly, looking to see how many soldiers she had left. She breathed in deeply, closing her eyes at the same time as her chest rose, her arms held infront of her chest her fore finger and thumbs making a small triangle.
”Galbadia!? To me now, fall back and surround me, defend me until I'm ready”
She bellowed loudly, echoing her voice across the battle field before she opens her eyes and smiles coldly as the Galbadians started to fall back to her. It was a fighting retreat for the soldiers, however Blue kept her hands up and her palms outstretched, her eyes darting calmly between targets unleashing Hecto-flare after Hecto-flare into the Midgar forces aiding her men to retreat back to form a tight circle around her. Each flare was carefully aimed within moments as she calmly acted, the cirlce forming up slowly as Blue continued her support until most of the remaining men where now around her in a tight formation.
“I am the sorceress, I will show Midgar just what they are dealing with”
Blue smiles softly and sweeps a circling into the earth around her with her foot, she then presses her hands infront of her as she softly speaks
“Protect me, you will know when I'm done”
Blue then closes her eyes as her body starts to release to the common eye would appear to be a blue mist, which slowly started creeping out from the two circles, the cirle of men and the circle of earth. The 'mist' however was something much more dangerous, she was unleashing her lifeforce across the battlefield and while it started off slowly creeping it soon started to speed up as it found the large pockets of mana such as the fire's or something much much more sinister.
Thats right, Mana, Mako, The Lifestream, are all the extact same thing.
“MIDGAR!”
She screams out as her mist continues to permiate the battlefield, the warriors around her constantly fighting desperately at the SOLDIERs rushing their formation, many would fall on both sides however Blue knew she had this battle in hand as the Mist was quickly moving to the outreaches of the battlefield and then started rising up covering the whole battle in a very light blue mist, not obscuring anyone's sight at all
“Let me show you why you don't fuck with a Sorceress!”
So much Mana!, Blue chuckled mentally licking her lips as she could feel all of it, in the earth, in the air and best of all in the Midgar forces. Blue opened her eyes and pulls appart her hands before she cracks her fingers as she bellows the next line.
“Galbadia! Let us show them just how strong we are!”
With a grin on her face she rushes out of the circle of men, leaping over them gracefully before she drop kicks an unlucky SOLDIER into the ground, then without hesitation she brutually smashes his head in with one swift stamp on the head and before anyone else could react her right fist snapped forward with unnatural speed connecting with the face of another SOLDIER with enough force to blast him off of his feet, yet Blue uses the momentum of her fist to bring her around into a roundhouse kick catching several more warriors off guard with her quick reflexs.
“In the Earth it lies”
She spoke, choosing her next target as the Galbadians started finishing those SOLDIERs that she had knocked down, brutually stabbing the downed men over and over before they started spreading out in groups focusing on ganging up on SOLDIERs rather than fighting one on one. Blue leapt force her left fist this time aimed at another mans gut, her quickly brings his sword down blocking Blue's first attempt, however Blue just twists to her left and smashes her right eblow into the warriors chin rattling his brain causing him to stagger.
“Unbidden, unrefined”
She spoke as grabs the warriors neck, crushing it in one hand, spinning around, still holding the struggling warrior and using him as a shield from his allies attack. It was fatal for the warrior and bad news for those that had just drove their blades into him as Blue lets go of the dying man and smirks.
“freeflowing”
She leaps into the air as Biggs and Wedge run through the two men who where attempting to pull their own blades out of the now dead warrior.
“Are you unharmed Sorceress Blue?”
The pair asks in unison as Blue lands back in place nodding to the pair as she rushes into a large group of SOLDIERs leaving Biggs and Wedge to help the other Galbadian soldiers. She was darting and weaving inbetween the group of SOLDIERs, timing her punches perfectly and leaving her dodges until the last possible moments as she seemingly toyed with them cuasing them them cause more harm to each other than to her in the end.
Yes thats it, nearly there.
“In the Air is flies”
Blue however wasn't playing around with the group, she was making them weaken themselves first before she starts slaughtering all of them with brutal methods, she threw one into the fires afer breaking his legs with two sharp kicks to the shins making him unable to quickly escape the flames, another she kicked in the groin making him collapse to the ground before the then throws another one over her shoulder and onto the man she had just downed, using his sword to skewer the pair of them to the ground before leaving them there to bleed to death.
“Ushered by the winds”
She says snapping another mans neck as she catches a glimpse of Sephiroth's Masamune inside one of the tents, backflipping over another SOLDIER and kicking him into the ground before landing low supporting herself with her right hand, quickly surveying the state of play and to her annoyance she was losing soldiers quicker than she hoped but the number of SOLDIERs in the camp was dropped. She jumped as she heard a whistling neck to her, she barely avoided the large swing from the Masamune, she could see its path through the mist that was now resting in the air, laying in wait for the right time.
“So the bastard son, I've heard a few things about you from Belzera”
She sneered at him as she stepped back trying to get a judgement on his range, but it was harder than she thought, his swings where a little to fast for her to judge the range he had. She breathes in deeply and attempts to rush him. She bursts forward towards him, she looks at his sword arm, focusing solely on it, waiting as she ran towards him, something that a sane person would even dream of doing. Her eyes squinted as she swung, she twisted over it, barely avoiding the blade as she got close to the Elite, almost legendary SOLDIER.
“I'll admit, you're good. Controlled by the flow”
He spoke, the first half was spoken with joy yet there was a sudden coldness in her voice as she spoke the next line. She blinked as the Masamune slices into her side. Shit, she thought rolling to the side clasping the deep wound glaring at the stoic Sephiroth, her hand glows faintly as she used the cure spell form the demon's contract, I'm gonna need to be really careful after this. Shi~ The blade whistled through the air towards her, again her reflexes saved her as she just dropped down flat on the ground as the blade flashed above her, where her waist had been only a second ago.
“In the Water it lives”
She spoke flipping back up onto her, noticing that the Galbadian soldiers where leaving this fight to her, cuasing her to chuckle as she jumps up, her eyes focsing again on Sephiroths arm, watching for his tell tale signs, but it was hard, she was already multitasking.
All healing, All giving
“Your too good”
Blue spits out at Spehiroth as she continues to evade his swings, she was barely keeping out of their paths due to the man's unholy speed, she had to keep most of her attention on his arms in order to be able to dodge as well as she was, however she was starting to tire a little from the constant effort along with the fact that she was preparing something big. Another swing, and there is now a large slash in the front of her shirt. Too close but I'm nearly there, she thought as she continued
“All Healing, All giving” “In the Fire...” “In the fire it burns, fuel of destruction”
Let the Ruination flow
“Ruination!”
She grins and then chuckles to Sephiroth as she claps her hands together as she roars the final words , as the final word is spoken the chain reaction starts. It starts off with the air getting heavy for a moment and the fires scattered around the camp just die out as if the oxygen was removed completely. Blue smirks and rushes towards Sephiroth again leaping up into the air halfway to him and as soon as she leaps the mist around her bursts into a roaring white flame that quickly spreads out from her burning away all of the mist, destroying the mana in the air, in the earth and most of all in the people. Many Soldiers burst out screaming as the white flames passed through them burning away all not at their skin but at the mako infused within them... mages would quickly see their spells failing as they flew into to the on coming flames which devour and destroy the magics and their fuel, the lifeforce/mana itself. It wouldn't take long for all of the mist to have burned away, taking away all of the magic/mana/lifeforce/mako in the area. She grins at Sephiroth who was affected by her own spell and with a wide grin she jumps back the haste spell gone too, but her opponent would also be weakened at least some what, if not majorly like some of the SOLDIERs
“Galbadians kill them all, lets show these fools the price for relying upon mana too much.”
She screams as she stares down her opponent, her eyes locked on him, smirking at the lifeless earth beneath her feet and revelling in the cold air, she had just killed off this whole area and it would take a while for the area to recover. Chuckling she knew that this would make the battle more dangerous since it was now impossible to use any magic at all, then a thought occurred to her Ah.... Belzera.... he... was fighting on his own.
“Shit”
She mutters returning her attention back to barely seeing him taking advantage of her slight distraction, knocking her aside with the side of his Masamune before he twirls it around in one hand and quickly dashes towards her, his blade pulled back ready for a large sweeping strike.
“You are a monster you know that”
She remarked as she backflipped onto her feet and springs into a tent avoiding the swing barely, cuasing her to roll across the ground and out of the other side of the tent and up onto her feet, her eyes darting towards where Sephiroth who was dashing towards her.
She breathes in deeply and takes in the situation around her, her men now gaining ground quickly on the SOLDIERs, easily dispatching most of the weakened Shin-Ra warriors that had infiltrated the camp leaving only the truly strong fighters left within the camp, which was perfect as it gave Belzera a safer back.
She opens her eyes and glares at Sephiroth as he swings, she flips over the blade and then as soon as one foot is on the ground she smashes her heel down onto the swinging Masamune knocking it into the earth, he gaze then fixes back onto the elite warrior standing infront of her.
“You might be a monster, but then again I ain't extactly all that human myself”
She says calmly as Sephiroth swings the Masamune up from the ground and pulls the blade back, readying for what looked to be a flurry at least in Blues' eyes, she smirks and moves down low, her hand touching the ground.
“3...2....1”
She rushes towards Sephiroth brutal flurry, she could feel his heavy blows cut away at her skin and her bones. Blood flew out from the mess of blade and blue but quickly enough she was right infront of Sephiroths face, grinning madly as her hand clasped around the blade right at the hilt, his blood flowing freely from her hand.
“Funny fact”
Her grin widens and her eyes seem to shine cruelly just before she smashes her head into the elite's nose and brings her knee up into his groin. She then grabs his neck tightly with her free hand and opens her mouth as a blue pencil point ball of light appeared infront of her open mouth.
“Hecto-Flare”
She muttered firing the attack point blank at Sephiroths face before leaping up, pressing her feet against his Chest and luanching herself across the camp and onto her feet as she brings her fists up infront of her face readying to the warriors counter as she licks her lips, shaking off the blood from the hand that had grabbed the Masamune.
“This is a little too much fun I'll have to admit that”
Now is not the time to enjoy yourself just finish this quickly Blue.
“Fine, fine I know”
She chuckles softly as she slowly inches towards Sephiroth keeping up her guard, ready for anything that he could throw at her.
