Aitvaras was of course alone, he wouldn't have expected it otherwise. He didn't really want to be however, his body ached for some contact with something living. His hair had fallen in front of his eyes, back resting against the tree. He had taken it upon himself to take a short rest, the weapon by his side was tied around his back once more. It was easier to reach, although around the waist could be handy from time to time as well.
It didn't matter for now, he absently wondered what would have happened to his teacher if the older elf was still alive. He couldn't help the train of thought carrying him further in those depressing thoughts, would the male have found someone else to teach and lead him to bed, like he did with Aitvaras so many years ago.
He slowly shook his head, why would he feel like that. They hadn't loved each other, he shouldn't feel this upset about That thought. The older elf had been free to do what he wanted, before he was killed. He bared his teeth lightly, head still hidden in his folded arms, portraying the more feminine side of him if one were to stumble across him. He didn't like it that he looked like a woman from afar, the curse of his race, maybe.
He could play that part well, he had pretended to be many things and it had saved him many times in the past, but would it be enough to save him from himself? He didn't know A distraction would be nice.. He thought to himself, raising his head lightly to look around at his surroundings. It wasn't the safest place to stop at, but he didn't want to go further, seeking for a better spot.
Asher the Genome, ever the cheerful individual, was on vacation. He knew that SeeDs didn't get many days off, and he really should be working harder to get his SeeD ranking up, but sometimes, one just had to put all of the craziness behind them for a few days. That was why, instead of his usual SeeD attire, he was wearing shorts and next to nothing else, sweat glistening as he bounded happily through the trees. Of course, his Spearshot was currently being clutched by his tail, and thus, brought along for the journey, but no one could dare fault him for that - even if he was on vacation, it would be foolish to go along without protection.
His excitement here on this new continent had not yet abated, which was why he moved with such ease and candor, bare feet touching the bark as he came to a quite sudden - albeit relatively silent pause. For the first time since he entered this little forest for a spot of exercise, the boy was smelling something in the air. It was a good thing, too - he didn't really want to fight off any monsters today, even if he could get something new from the creatures here on Crescent.
Flicking his tail absently, he sniffed the air impatiently, trying to figure out what the scent was. It did not smell quite so tart as to be a monster - most of them smelled at least of a hint of blood, be it humanoid or otherwise. A hand reached up to scratch through his brown hair, letting out a gentle hum as he did.
He smiled, a deep, easy, boyish smile, as he finally figured out almost exactly where the scent was coming from. He couldn't get a direction because the wind wasn't blowing - which meant...
He dropped to the ground, almost directly in front of the elf, a wide smile on his face. "Hiiii!" He cheered, tail wagging almost doglike, even though it carried his weapon behind him. Asher was a weird little guy, and he knew it - he realized that this person smelled masculine, even though he looked feminine. Tilting his head a little, he asked an all too familiar question:
"Are you a boy-thing, or a girl-thing? I'm a boy - my name's Asher! I'm a SeeD, from Balamb!" Because neither tact nor subtlety were things Asher prided himself on. There was a reason they never sent him on espionage missions - sure, he could keep a secret, but there was next to no way he was infiltrating anything except maybe a hyperactive preschool, and even that was a stretch.
He dropped down, so that he was crouching, watching the other. "I can't tell!" He offered, with another hint of a smile - infinitely less powerful than the widespread one he'd given at the very beginning of this little encounter. "But I can tell yer not a monster. That's a good thing!" He added, carefully.

He slowly blinked as something fell in front of his nose. His first guess would be a branch, until it (or a he, rather) started to speak. The sound grated on his nerves and he almost winced. The sudden sound didn't do good for his ears, especially after all the silence that had surrounded him. He didn't recognize the name and if he where an animal he would have pressed his ears back against his skull, the one perched up slightly to hear to the words. He couldn't do that however and kept listening, eyes focused on the youth.
"Hello." He greeted slowly, the sound of his own voice soothing pained ears somewhat. He couldn't continue speaking before questions where aimed at him, as well as a name and the fact that he didn't seem a monster. Apparently it seemed to be a good thing, but how was one sure that one wasn't a monster? For one know he was a psychotic murderer?
He felt his lips curl up in a half-smile, although one wouldn't be able to recognize it as such. He showed a lot of teeth like a beast that wanted to attack. He had searched someone to talk with, but not this! His head fell to the side nonetheless "I am male." He replied, rather annoyed. Although it faded, it seemed that he couldn't stay angry with this Asher of Balamb. The cute factor didn't help either with staying irritated.
He felt at a disadvantage and quickly stood up, not wanting to appear smaller than he truly was. He was indeed not one of the biggest around, but he wasn't small either and he wouldn't let someone walk over him, even if the other looked quite cute. He shook his head mentally, trying to free himself from those thoughts. He couldn't help those really, but he had to try. It wouldn't prove good if he 'attacked' the youth with this.... desire that run currently in Aitvaras's veins.
He almost laughed as the other said that he couldn't tell, it was indeed difficult sometimes. It was easier to tell by his voice and if he stood upright. He stretched lightly, trying to get the tense muscles to relax. He touched the sword by his side once more and looked at the younger creature, well that was the general idea he received. An older being wouldn't be so hyper, right? He didn't know, maybe the other had fallen onto his head when a kid still.
He almost felt disgusted, why would let someone let someone like that alive? If one had fallen on his head and acted like this... but that didn't guarantee that it was the truth with this creature. It could be his nature, although he found it hard to believe. He should offer his name as well, but he didn't want to. The other hadn't asked for it, so he wouldn't give it, at least not now.
He had to chuckle faintly, placing a hand in front of his mouth "I have to agree with you there.." He spoke, brushing silver hair back with a thin hand.

The man - which he only believed 'cause the guy SAID he was a man - was giggling. The only reason this was of note? Because everyone told him 'boy's shouldn't giggle!' To which he always replied with a giggle. To emphasize this unspoken point, he joined his newfound, pointy-eared friend in his giggle, wiggling a little bit. It was unfortunate - he'd hoped he'd finally met someone he was taller than. Unfortunately, that was not the case... it seemed Fate had dealt him a losing hand on that point.
"What'cha doin' out here? There might be monsters or somethin' around! They might want to eat you!" He held up his hands in what should have been a 'scary' pose, making an adorable little 'Rawr'-ing sound.
"I'm on vacation - I don' have to do any missions for a whole WEEK!" He added, excitedly, mostly because it was just his way of doing things. His tail released his weapon, propping it against the tree. He'd had to take a step to the side just to make certain it didn't fall... but still. That was when he saw... them. He lifted himself up on his tip-toes, face coming unnecessarily close to Ai's, albeit on the side.
"What's your ears for...?" Hand was already reaching towards them, before he caught himself. "I mean, they're all long. Sorry! Can I touch'em?" He asked, though it was painfully obvious at this point that he was intentionally being quiet so as to not blow his ears off with his usual loudness, in this proximity.
Grinning with a little bit of contentment, tail wagging easily, he was quite proud of himself - after all, he'd managed to actually stop himself from doing something that would otherwise be completely socially awkward, and hypocritical. As often as he growled at people from the Garden for just reaching out and grabbing his tail, or petting it, he knew exactly what it was like to be touched without one's permission, at least in potentially sensitive areas. That was a bonus on his part!
Ai should consider himself lucky, to have not been assaulted by the young genome. "Do your ears... do they hurt?" He asked, sagely, trying to make the best of the situation, where his hands were hanging ever so close to him in the air. He was curious - this could easily become a very strange situation, or a fight, and Asher didn't really want either of those things.
His other hand came up and rubbed at the center of his slightly sweat-sheened, bare, chest, wishing vaguely that he didn't sweat. That would be awesome. He was actually well built, considering how old he was - mentally, of course. He actually had defined muscles and everything!
He shrugged his shoulders at the question he was doing here "I don't know actually." He spoke, biting his lower lip lightly "I was rather hoping to catch some sleep.." He gave a small smile, trying to ignore the faint discomfort he had at the hyperness of the younger boy. He still couldn't shake off the feeling that the boy would be better off dead.
He shook his head faintly, allowing silver hair to fly around "I don't think there are any around." He spoke If there where, I would have sensed them, most likely. He thought to himself, although he couldn't help that his eyes flew around, searching for anything that could point to a hostile presence.
He nodded his head faintly Vacation, what is that? He thought, he never heard of the concept. You couldn't really blame him, he was most of the time alone and if he was with someone there never was much talking involved. He jerked his head back when the younger nearly pushed it in his, he could see every detail now and it didn't comfort him. He could stand close contact, but that was a bit too close and too sudden for him to adapt quickly. He soon shook it off and looked as those hands raised to his face What? His eyes widened.
"My... ears?" He echoed, he was sure that the other was going to take his face for something. He frowned though "They do what any kind of ear does." He spoke, confused. The younger boy didn't know what ears where? It was puzzling.
He was glad however that the boy's volume was lower than before, the sound didn't grade on his nerves as it did before. It made him slightly lesser annoyed. He was confused however why the boy wanted to touch them, as mentioned before, they where like any ear that living creatures possessed. He nodded his head though at the question, turning his head lightly so the younger boy could reach them more easily.
Ear... hurt? The sentence had made him almost laughing again. He shook his head, not bothering to hide his amusement this time "No, they don't.." He spoke lowly, lowering eye-lids to look at the younger How shall his skin feel if I caress it? He questioned himself Will he moan? His eyes followed the hand as it rubbed the sweat-stained chest and he almost licked his lips.
It looked quite tempting, but he didn't know the boy. It didn't hold him back normally, but this boy had something about him that stopped him in his tracks at trying to flirt and bed him. He would change that soon enough however, but now he just wanted to feel that skin.
He, after a few minutes, realized the error of his own question, and began to giggle a little bit. He realized, of course, that he'd just made himself look rather silly, which was why the other guy seemed so confused, or struck, or something. Still, he had been given the opportunity, so, he would take it! Fingers continued to reach out, flexing slightly, until he was able to trace the entirety of one of his ears, sliding smoothly and gently along the outermost contours of them. His touch lingered at the very tip of his pointed ear, and then, gently slid along the other side.
He was careful - if his ears did hurt, he didn't want to increase that pain. He finally leaned away, all but crumpling a little bit, at the knees. Asher was now sitting there, staring up at his new found friend. Head tilted slightly to the side, as he watched him move.
"Sorry 'bout bein' so weird! My brother says I'm different than all the others like me. But I couldn't help it! I've never seen pointy ears before on a person. They're neat!" He finally explained, tugging his legs under him so that he was sitting indian style, his tail wagging gently behind him. He always managed to be so animalistic, his tail typically indicating just what kind of mood he was in. Like now, he was comfortable and happy.
Of course, he was also oblivious to the subtle hint that he should scram so his new partner could catch some shut eye, but that was honestly more than could be expected of him. Subtlety was by far his weak point, and to be surprised that he missed it might just indicate that someone other than Asher was a bit touched.
Tugging at his feet, he giggled again, leaning backwards.
"Are you from 'round here? I've never been here before, but I get to go to all sorts of places! This one is almost like Alexandria 'cause it's so quiet... but Alexandria is blegh." He wrinkled his nose a little bit, as he finally decided to lean sideways against the tree that Ai had been leaning on before that.
Of course, at this point, a hint of red slowly creeped along his cheeks, as he realized just how rude he'd been. He dipped his head a little bit, tail drooping against the grass.
"Sorry! I forgot to ask you your name. Do you have a name, Mister Ears?" He asked, both curiously and with just a touch of a smile - like he was uncertain whether or not he was supposed to at this point. Asher half-expected to get a little bit of a scolding, as he sometimes... SOMETIMES! forgot his manners. Now being one of those times, it seemed.

He barely kept from shivering at the simple touch, it was one of his most sensitive places. It gave him some of perverse joy that the younger touched them, unaware of the reaction he caused. He let all the air escape out of his lungs and closed his eyes, he would have pushed his head further into the young boy's hand, like a cat would do.
He felt the hand linger at the tip of his ear and blue eyes opened again, the hand moved once more though and they hit the earrings that decorated them, a shudder ran through him once more. It was far too sensitive, it was close to a pleasant kind of pain.
He almost felt disappointed as that hand was pulled back and he turned his head to the younger boy again "That's...alright." He had to chuckle again "I am happy that you think so.." He spoke lightly That's a first that I hear someone speak those words. He thought to himself Most people are used to seeing them, never comment on it, not that it's always a bad thing...
He crouched slowly, so that his height was more leveled to the younger creature. He couldn't contain himself, especially at seeing the tail wag around like that of a happy dog "What are you?" He questioned then, he couldn't hold in the question anymore. He felt the need to simple know. He almost blushed at that however "I don't want to sound rude..." He added to it afterward.
He guessed that he wouldn't get any sleep today, ah well. He always could catch upon it on a later date, when he had either lost the younger boy or if said younger boy was sleeping himself. He hadn't really needed the sleep, but as he would say with anything, it was better to catch it when you could than wait and never get any sleep for days at an end. He let a soft sigh escape, rubbing the bridge of his nose briefly. The next question had him looking up again.
I'm from the Wilderness, born in it. He wanted to say That's my only home and will ever be, wouldn't you be able to guess? His lips curled in that thin smile again "I'm from Lindblum." He spoke, pausing to remember the name Alexandria, nice enough of a place. "Why?" He questioned "I found it a nice enough place, but then I had not much choice.." The bittersweet memories from there, resurfaced.
Ah, the little creature had caught upon that then. He dipped his head, he had indeed a name "Aitvaras." He speaks then "Aitvaras Moon, it is a pleasure.." It could be doubted if there was any truth in those words.
He was rather delighted, when Ai shivered - it was like he was cold. But Asher knew that shivering when someone was touched was either a good thing or a bad thing, rarely an indifferent action like when one was cold. Considering the sigh, Asher could only surmise that it was indeed a good thing, the noise he'd made. He tilted his head a little bit, before grinning.
"Nuh-uh! It's not rude - lotsa people ask that! 'Cause I got a tail, and all." To which he promptly let slide around, so that he could clutch to it, gently. It was still struggling to waggle, though, as he himself was just that kind of person. He loved the attention, and apparently, so did his tail. "I'm a Genome! Buu~ut, I don't know much about 'em. I didn't even know till a couple of weeks ago. I just know we're good at climbin' and bouncin' and we have tails!"
He made another gentle flourish, releasing his tail, and smiling up at Ai. It was interesting - Ai seemed generally interested in him - much like he was constantly interested in everyone else. He'd had limited contact with the other races, and mostly only knew the humans... so anyone other than human was of massive interest. Even the ones that didn't really seem all that different from regular humans, like Val!
At the question of Alexandria, though, his brows furrowed a bit, and he let a little bit of a pout crease his lips. The countryside of Alexandria was nice... but...
"The people are all mean there! A guy pulled my tail and then his friends tried to cut me up! F'r no reason! Just 'cause I had a tail!" He grimaced, at that. He hated it when his tail got tugged, which was often why he was skittish about people touching it without him knowing. People could quickly change from petting to pulling without much of a warning. "Then the guards started goin' crazy and they tried to kill me, too! My friend Val was there, though, and he helped me get away." Though, in truth, he'd provided the escape path, not Val.
That little bit of information didn't much matter, though! What did matter was that they'd made it away, and no one... well, neither of them... had gotten hurt in the process.
"Plus they broke my milk jug." To which he still hadn't gotten replaced. He slumped a little, against the tree, practically defeated.
He was sincerely starting to cool down at this point, having had more than an adequate break from his own calisthenics. Now, he was actually able to enjoy the circumstance a little more fully - having never actually been in conversation with a... a...
"Your turn!" He popped his head up, cheerfully, and looked him over. "What're yoouu? I've never met a pointy-eared human before, so I bet you're somethin' else too. 'Course, I could be wrong... I haven't met every human before, either." Satisfied that he'd worded his question without any extra questions, bonus phrases, or strange noises, he absently continued to toy with his tail, which was now practically curling in his lap.

A genome? His mind whispered Well, that's a first that I hear of..... these. He was honest to himself, he indeed had never seen one, not that he could be put to blame. He only knew Elves, Humans and obvious Genomes now. He also heard of those supposed E-humans, a strange name. He listened as the younger boy explained himself further Climbing and bouncing, sounds familiar. He looked around and to his surroundings again The perfect place for him then... His mind decided.
It seemed that the question about Alexandria wasn't a good one and he wanted to pull his question back already, before he could however it was answered "Pull your tail?" He questioned, blinking Humans and their strange habits, why do they such things with other races? You can't see them pulling at each other's hair... He was glad that he was not human on that moment, priding himself that he was a true Elf, civilized and not wanting to pull on a tail because. Because of what, because the younger boy seemed to be a bit different than an average human?
He couldn't wrap his mind around it Wanted to cut him up? His mind continued Guards chasing? He shook his head in the same mental area A trouble-maker right in front of me? He didn't know, but he would stay cautious now. It wouldn't do him good if he was seen in the presence of a 'trouble-maker' and be chased away because of that. He needed to do many things still. The name didn't ring a bell, so he decided to ask "Val?" He questioned then.
"A milk jug.." He echoed, a blank stare on his face now And how old is he? He questioned himself A damned milk jug, whatever milk is... He was maybe knowledgeable about some things, other matters he was clueless about, like this strange word... milk, who named something 'milk'? "Milk?" He then decided to question, a confused expression on the usual smooth planes of his face.
The question what he was, was expected and a small smile curled his lips, replacing the quickly fading confusion "An Elf." He responded, bowing lightly, hands flowing away from his side in what could be called in an elegant way. There wasn't much to explain about what they where "Most are a bit more normal than me.." He showed that smile again, showing that he didn't really mean those words, or maybe he did, but didn't care that he could be considered 'abnormal'.
The tension he felt before, seemed to fade away already. The child had a personality that made him unable to keep wary. His hand raised, the other still holding the hilt of his sword. The raised hand trailed the edge of his ears again, following the path that Asher had made, before the same hand also pushed the hair back once more. He really should find something to hold it back for when he was traveling. It was maddening that he had to push it back like mad.
He leaned back against one of the trees, he as well could make himself as comfortable as was possible. He didn't want to stand upright too long, the heaviness in his limbs wasn't easily forgotten. A shame that he couldn't sleep, but he also couldn't force... the Genome away like that. He should have to find a way to politely tell to go away, but first he had to satisfy his curiosity.
Even more strange than his odd manner of speech and his exaggerated ears, was his confusion over the case of milk. Milk, after all, was quite possibly the best thing that the world had ever graced them with, even if there were some unfortunate after effects of drinking too much of it. But, much like alcohol, he just kept coming back to it
He seemed far too excited, as his arms shot wide above his head.
"Milk is the best drink ever! You get it and it's ice cold and then you just..." It was certainly his surest attempt to pur - he was a monkey, not a cat, so his excitement was detailed by largeness of action and loudness of voice. But if he could purr, that would certainly be what he would be doing. "It's wonderful. I had a whooole jug, but yeah... smashed." To which he resumed his defeated pout.
Still, his attention re-focused on Ai. An Elf, eh? For some reason he had a strange whisper of memory that flicked around his mind, though he wasn't entirely certain why or where it came from. The moment he tried to grasp it, it slipped just out of reach, prompting him to pout again for just a second. "I think I've met an elf before, maybe! But I'm not sure. 'Sides, you seem pretty normal to me! More normal'n me, anyways." He chuckled, a little, at his own joke.
This was nice! His breathing had evened, and he'd stopped perspiring, which meant that he at least seemed a little more collected. A content smile spread along his face, as he relaxed against the tree, watching Ai with only the laziest of smirks. Touching at the back of his head, where he scratched gingerly, he murmured lightly.
"Val's pretty cool. He's a Cetra, so he's always talkin' to himself. He says he's talkin' to the planet, which I think is weird, but hey! If the planet has somethin' interestin' to say, I figure, why not? But he's all extra proud 'bout it, which makes him seem a little mean sometimes, sayin' he's better than the rest of us at being a person."
He wrinkled his nose a bit, at that - plainly, he was not particularly fond of that part of his personality. He'd tried to play it off when he pointed it out, just so Val wouldn't feel bad, but he was still fairly certain Val had understood exactly where he had been coming from.
Creeping his tail around, he absently fiddled with it, enjoying as he always did the feel of his fur. He almost wished he were furry all over, though he knew that that would be even more problematic than just a furry tail. No one would give him a second thought on being capable - they'd all just stare.
And he probably wouldn't even be cute.
"Are you stayin' closeby? In a hotel or somethin'?" He asked, curiously, wondering about how well the elves got along with regular people, too. Shouldn't be hard!
He still didn't know what this milk was, what a strange name for something that one could drink, but so was water.... The whole language was strange in fact, but milk he had never heard off before. He nodded nonetheless "Alright, then I suppose I have to try it once. He shook his head lightly once more though, the thought of him needing to be put down returning. He couldn't say much however; he was as crazy, or insane. It was all the same in the end, no matter what name was pasted on it.
He then decided that he didn't like the pout on the younger boy's face and frowned "Can't you get a new jug with this... milk?" He questioned, briefly wondering why he hadn't just nodded before as if he understood what milk was, then maybe he would have avoided all of this. He didn't understand as well why this Asher person hadn't bought a new one, a jug wasn't hard to come by. He didn't know about this milk however, maybe it was a very strange thing or something alike. The loss would be more understandable then.
"You did?" He questioned Well, it isn't unusual.. His mind whispered It is that I never really met one before apart from my teacher, the cold person he was and my parents.. He shook his head mentally Although my memories of them have faded already. He shrugged it off as well, it was no use to keep dwelling on things that didn't matter anymore Thus there are more Elves, I wonder where exactly, I want to know more about what I am and can do exactly..
I only do things I'm sure that I can do, never did more than that. He looked up as Asher spoke again and he laughed softly "Really now?" He spoke lightly "I never heard that someone thought I'm not insane. He focused his gaze on Asher as he explained what, or who, this Val was.
He felt his eyes widen slightly A Cetra, well this is certainly not a normal kid to know one.. He chuckled again however "Better than the rest?" He decided that he wouldn't like this Val, or do something that would rip him away from the delusion that he was better than someone else. He could die, just like everyone could, although some didn't want to die that quickly. He was interested though, he always wondered how it could that a Cetra heard the planet, yet the Elves could not. Elves where close to the Earth as well, weren't they It's maybe something we will never know..
His shoulders tensed as the other reached for something, he then realized it was only the boy's tail. He shook his mental head and tsked at himself No need to be so paranoid.. He thought to himself Not everyone is out to get you.. He was amused then as the other kept stroking the fur over and over, most likely it comforted the younger boy.
His head was shaken at that question "No, I do not.." Pale fingers spread lightly as he rested a hand on his hip lightly "I find myself uncomfortable with walls around me.." He didn't bother hiding this It's bad if I can't see the stars because of a man-made creation... He shuddered mentally, only thinking about it grossed him out.
The elf did act rather strangely, asking him if he could not simply buy a new jug of milk.
The sad part was that he had not even remotely thought of that.
"Hey... Hey YEAH! That's a great idea!" He almost hopped up, he was so excited he was practically quivering, his tail was even wagging in his petting grip. Asher's excitement was typically infectious when it wasn't completely annoying, and right now, the barechested boy felt he was being relatively good mannered. And tempered. And NICE!
He crept a little closer to the now-sitting Elf, buttwiggling to the best of his ability. "It's weird. I know that feeling - though I've never been able to describe it right. 'Cause it's not bein' scared exactly... it's... it's not havin' fresh air and trees and grass. I always sleep with my windows open 'cause I get fresh air, even in the winter."
He grinned, happily. Ai was a really neat person, Asher was now confirmed of it. Someone else may have called him crazy, but Asher found him oddly interesting. Appealing, even if he was apparently a little crazy - or thought he was. Leaning with a little bit of gusto, he smiled wide up at him.
"You're a good elf. A good person, 'gardless of your ears - even if your ears are really neat." He said, with a sharp nod. "Everyone says I'm crazy, so comin' from me it might not mean much, but I don't think you're crazy either. Crazy people don't not like somethin' just because it's different."
He yawned a bit, at that point, leaning back and away from him, specifically so he didn't yawn right in to the man's face. That, of course, would be considered rude.
"I'm sorry. I don't sleep much." He grinned a little bit at that. "I don't like it! I'd rather be doin' something! I dunno what! But somethin'."
He wrapped his arms around his chest, and shivvered. Even though the sun was out, it was still technically winter out here, and since he had stopped bouncing, he was starting to feel the touch of cold that was little more than a breeze. "Brrgrf. I should'a brought a vest." He intoned, making a little bit of a whimper. "I'm gonna go get inside!"
