The Iifa tree...perhaps the oldest and largest tree in all of Gaia. The tree itself dwarfed the tree of Burmacia, and that in itself was as large as a mountain. This tree was larger than several mountains. Its top branches long passed the clouds. Its roots spread out in such a wide arch, that the city of Midgar twice over could not fathom the reach. What was most interesting about this tree however, was that it was the only place on this continent that had "mist". A dark substance that fogged vision, but also held a deeper taint. On the Alexandria and Lindblum continents. Mist was a source of fuel, but....it was also a source of monsters. Animals...and people too long exposed to this terrible substance would begin to grow mad and eventually mutate into monsters. But that wouldn't be a fear for you. At east, not yet. This was your first time exposed to it.
One required years of constant exposure before the mind began to decay.
Today Celeste was here concerning the rumour of a summoning beast lying deep within the heart of the Iifa tree. A legendary wolf. Fenrir. Getting this summoning would not be easy. But it would be rewarding. Your first task would be to walk along the roots of the tree to its base, and find a way inside.....
Zonzai was inside his airship; he hd left home just a few days ago and was flying aimlessly through the worlds. He had left the ship running on autopilot and had gone to sleep. It had already been a few hours since he had done so. Sonzai was waking up. he opened his eyes; what he saw was nothing more than a wooden ceiling. He turned his gaze sideways and saw a small bookshlef that had sliding glasses to keep the books form falling. The plastic sliding doors were locked so they would not slide by themselves.
Sonzai got up and headed to the bathroom inside his cabin. Such a big ship and nobody around to drive it with; it was a lonely existence, and yet, he was accustomed to it. he used to spend his days alone in the library that his house had; and then he used to practice on book about fighting that he read; no sparring buddy, no mentor,, no nothing, just him alone in the big library or in the backyard. The servants used to talk to him every now and then, but this was not often.
Sonzai got out of the bathroom and then walked over toward the cockpit when he saw it. a huge tree. Gigantic and Majestic. a sight to behold. he marbled mesmerized at it. The lifa tree. He had read about this in books before; and he didn't really know much of it. It was even more amazing now that he looked at it compared to the picture book. Sonzai then suddenly dashed into the cockpit seat and steered away. Having just realized that had he not done so he would have hit something.
He quickly parked the airship and had it go invisible; floating mid air so that nobody would know he was around. he got down the ladder of his personal ship and then put the ladder away with the click of a button.
There he stood; in front of a gigantic root that he could have mistook for a mountain. Sonzai sat there marbling at the sight of the tree; a few minutes later he was walking alone taking a stroll around The lifa tree
Celeste was tired, but being a little tired wasn't going to stop her and it certainly was not about to slow her down, but she was in no hurry. Celeste wore a black hooded cloak with the same symbol as her tattoo on her belly on the back in a blood red color; Her original attire of a tight black leather halter and tight black leather pants with her studded leather belt and straps along with her weapons; twin Sai and hidden long dagger nicely tucked away in her rogue boots. In place of her handy dandy pouch that is strapped to her leg, was an even handier and dandier travel Haversack which held masterwork thieves tools, potions of healing, rations of food, dust of tracelessness, silver rope for climbing (not that she needed it since she was an excellent climber, but just in cases are always nice to consider), small shuriken, her poison pack in which she regularly bathed her weapons in, and a ring with some kind of special magic attached to it that she hadn’t yet figured out what it was because she stole it just recently from a reckless mage in training.
She had taken a long time to get here. From where she stood, it was impossible to see the end of it from either side or from above, but there was a parting in the tree's trunk. She stared into the maze of roots, her hair dancing in the soft breeze covering her face a little. What was beyond? She knew. Celeste had read so many books- one particularly on this location; the lifa tree.
The mist supposedly attracted all kinds of powerful monsters in which she had studied on, including Fenrir, a summoning beast that lies deep within the heart of this great tree she looked upon. As she gaped up at the tree's great branches, her ears flickered and she went on full alert as she heard noises- the sounds of an airship's engines, and its soft decent into silence. Then, footsteps, but from where, she did not know. She turned around and leaned back on the tree and sighed heavily. Her emerald green eyes darted left and right as she scanned the area. Who could it possibly be? Was it a sky pirate looking to claim her claim, the prize of the mighty Fenrir? She would not allow it.
She picked up her travel bag (which she needed for the long journey to this place)passing her hand through her soft red hair to get it out of her face, and looked up at the bark of the tree. There were bends and humps several yards up into the bark from where the roots bent. It was up high but she was sure she could manage. She heaved her travel bag up first, then dipped down and jumped, and caught onto the edge of the hump on the bark and swiftly pulled herself up on it placing her feet silently as to not make any noise. No one would care to look up from where she was. She leaned on the tree and slid down into a squat and waited.
Sonzai stared at the Iifa tree unaware that there was somebody watching him. He continued walking around; slowly remembering what he had read about the tree itself. The Mist was thick in here; as a person who was well versed in magic he could feel it. He had read how the lifa tree was one such that constantly created mist around it. Many creatures were apparently attracted to it; and many were also created in it. The tree itself was of enormous height; reaching way above the clouds. Sonzai wondered how far he actually was from the canopy. He thought how the tree could easily become a world in itself if it just kept on growing taller and taller. He recalled reading a book in the archaic library at his old house. The Fenrir; a strong creature swelled deep within the heart of the lifa tree. Legend had it; if one could defeat this creature; they could call upon it when it was needed in battle. Sonzai had no interest in owning the beast at this point in time; however he was more than interested in being able to see the beast with his own eyes. He wondered how majestic could such creature be. Creatures like the Fenrir, which the books referred to as creatures that could be summoned, were of great power and strength. Each having its own specialties; and each one of these were really difficult to attain. Maybe if he just walked; looked at it and ran away. Yes he would do just that; if he were given the chance to fight it, he would… juts under the condition that he were to accompany somebody else who was searching for it; as he knew he had no chance against a creature such as that. He thought to himself how unlucky he was to not have any companions at this point in time. He knew well that he could not handle the beast as he was right now. Sonzai kept strolling down slowly around the lifa tree slowly; his hands behind his back; pacing himself as he took in the beautiful tree that lay around him. Sonzai found himself unable to move forward shortly after at the pace with which he was walking; a large root that had propounded form the earth was now in front of him. He slowly climbed up the rood as he found no way to get around it. Sonzai started walking forward at his slow pace again. He walked like that for a few minutes; until he found something that looked like an entrance on his right side. Sonzai then stopped cold. Sonzai stood in front of the entrance for a long time, pondering if he should enter or not. He looked straight up and stared at the trunk of the tree; and winced as he tried to look farther up toward a branch that lay high up there. Sonzai then turned his gaze back down; the entrance looked dark and ominous. A threatening and scary sight lay in front of him. Part of him was afraid, but the adventurer in him boiled from excitement. Sonzai thought about the things that he had read about the lifa tree; wondering how much information the book was missing, how complete it was, and if there was some important information about the tree which the book had left out. He shook his head and stared there; trembling from both excitement and fear, frozen in awe as he finally took at better and closer look at the tree. He knew from beforehand that this tree was a magnificent sight to behold. He had seen pictures in the books; but then again, nothing compared to seeing it in real life. The very texture of the trunk itself; the contortions etched on the wood. Sonzai walked toward the entrance and sat down as he looked around him. He stared at his surroundings; wondering if another adventurer would come around and let him tag along, to which he knew, the chances were slim to none. He would not just need luck on his side, for there to be another traveler to come in to the lifa tree in order to head into it, luck would have to be in love with him. And judging from his childhood and life, he thought to himself that this would be a fat chance. Luck was not his female dog; nor would it become it anytime soon. “Come out! I know you’re there” he yelled out jokingly; knowing that this would not make anybody appear around him. Sonzai thought to himself how he should stop talking out loud randomly when he wanted something to happen. Experience had told him; nobody would hear him, he would be neglected, and this time around… there was not even a chance that a servant would hear him and come out. It was a rare occasion that did not often happen when he lived at his house; but nevertheless would happen from time to time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Word count: 836 Total: 1204
The footsteps came closer and closer. She could see a figure even from all the mist. Who could it be? He didn't seem to be dangerous as her natural instinct told her about a person, but even so, she could not trust a stranger, not ever. Not even if they didn't seem dangerous. You must never underestimate your opponent, no matter how innocent he may seem. Looks are the most deceiving thing of a living being such as humans, elves, etc.
The footsteps were so loud now, she figured the stranger was right at the spot she was at just moments ago. Celeste slowly and silently crawled and looked over the edge, her cloak over her and dragging on the bark, and sure enough, the figure was there. Her eyes narrowed as she strained them. He looked human enough to her. She watched him sit on a root of the tree, she thought and he sat still for what seemed like an eternity, just... waiting? Did he know she was there? What was he doing just sitting there? Maybe he was just too afraid to go into the entrance on his own. Or maybe he knew she was up there and would bore her out of her hiding place. Then, something unexpected happened.
“Come out! I know you’re there”
She gasped lightly in surprise and her eyes widened and her pointy ears perked up. Then her eyes narrowed once more in suspicion. His voice sounded playful, almost jokingly. Or was it mockery? Was he mocking her? He couldn’t possibly know she was up there! There was just no way, she hadn’t even made a sound, or maybe he was just like her. Still, it could not be, even if he was just like her, especially keen of sight and hearing. She rolled her eyes and leaned back as she tried to figure it out. Her head always did get in the way of things most of the time, but her head was the thing that saved her and got her out of tricky situations the most. Even so, it was over with. The stranger obviously knew she was there, so why bother pretending not having heard a thing, although she could be wrong. He could be so bored and lonely he feels the need to talk to himself that way, pretending, hoping, wishing that someone might come along, maybe even hear, and show up in front of him just like that. Should she risk it? Yes. A strange thrill passed through her, the same kind of thrill she gets when she is risking something huge, and likes it.
So she grabs her travel bag and jumps down, her hair and cloak whirling in the wind above her. She lands lightly on her feet right in front of the stranger. She stands over him and looks down at him with her dazzling green eyes with a smirk on her face.
“Hello” said a voice a few seconds after he spoke to himself aloud.
Sonzai’s eyes widened he didn’t expect this to happen! Was luck playing a trick on him? Was it really being nice to him now? How long could this entity be following him for? How long could this being have simply looked at him this whole time?
The questions swirled around Sonzai. He stared at this unexpected vision for one second with a clear look of surprise on his face. A red haired girl whose green eyes were staring straight into his blue ones was standing right in front of him now. Her green eyes deep like the forest; and her gaze felt penetrating, almost as if she was staring right into his soul.
Sonzai kept a calm expression even though he had just showed an expression of surprise “Well well well; isn’t this a nice surprise?” He said as he tried to stand up and staggered a little bit; as he fell back on his butt. As calm as his expression was, his body was not taking the same response as his face was. He rose up again; this time more calmly; staring back into her green eyes with his blue ones.
By the looks of it she was a skilled warrior; of some experience. Her clothing told him that she was a traveler as her attire did not fir that of the people who usually lived there. And her demeanor gave him the impression that she was not afraid of him; rather… she could kill him if she just wanted to. “Hello milady” stammered Sonzai “I’m Sonzai” He said as he bowed, reached for Celeste’s hand and kissed it; a gentleman’s greeting; as well as a nobleman’s. “What would bring a fair lady such as yourself to these parts of the woods?” He said as he slowly looked up.
“I don’t suppose a fair lady such as yourself would be here to venture into the lifa tree now would you? I heard it’s a very dangerous place; you should never head down there alone.” He finished saying; almost as if he had a prepared monologue.
Sonzai smiled in his mind; praising the good fortune that had befallen him. Alas lady luck was not ignoring him like she did when he was younger. His presence was not neglected; and albeit accustomed to it, this was something that he wished to change. Coming out on a journey, and adventure had started to prove fruitful; at least for now. He wondered; with her around; what would the chances be for him to really be able to see Fenrir if even for a second? He also wondered if he would be strong enough to fend for himself while this being was here; watching him as he fought. It was almost unnerving; for he knew that she did not look like a weak traveler. The chances for her to be here in order to enter the lifa tree were high; and if she was to come alone, then it meant that she had either courage, or the confidence that she’d be able to fend for herself; and that alone said enough about her character.
Indeed; all the signs pointed that she was a strong and capable warrior. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Word count: 546 Total: 1750
Celeste smiled as she listened to the stranger’s stutters and the look of surprise on his face. She enjoyed these reactions more than anything. She chuckled to herself on the inside as he tried to compose himself and stand up, but fell back down from weakness of the knees. My, did she make an impression. Then again, she usually did.
Celeste sized the stranger up as she lifted her brow when he placed his lips on her soft skin. “Sonzai, huh…”
We’ve got ourselves a placid softie… that, or I must be seriously underestimating this chump…
He was not much taller than her, perhaps by an inch or two; Shimmering blue eyes and blonde hair, spiked in all directions; Pretty scrawny with a decent enough build; he wore a purple mage’s robe and she assumed he was a mage, with a twist, since the robe did have a difference to it, looking a bit like a martial artists, and had golden patters on it. The front tail had the design of a dragon. He was handsome and very well dressed.
She thought about giving him her name, but she thought she’d never see this punk again anyway, so she figured, why bother? She also thought about telling him her business there, but what did her business have to do with him. He should mind his own business! But she shouldn’t be so harsh on him. He was, after all, being such a gentleman. So then, she would…gently… tell him off. Although she did wonder what HE was doing there. Curiosity never did do anything good for the poor cat.
“My business… is not of yours, young cavalier,” she said with a hint of mockery, sing song voice, sweet and cool echoing in his ears, thinking back to how he called out to her to get her out of hiding. “And neither is my name, though your chivalry is held of high esteem by me.” Celeste gently took her hand away from his. “You should not put concern over me, I am fully capable of handling myself in a precarious place such as this.” Her tone became a bit more casual with a tiny hint of displeasure.
Celeste then thought about her reason for being here; to attain the great Fenrir. Could she really do it alone? Although she was more capable than a regular human, could she really do it alone? She did not know. She had been so confident about it before, but the more and more she thought on it, the more doubt that came across her mind. She could use Sonzai. He looked worthy enough for the feat. It would be hard alone, but it would make things easier with a companion. She hated companionship. She hated working with others. She has been doing things alone since she could walk and talk, and didn’t take enjoyment in even thinking of working with others. But it would definitely be beneficial. Maybe if he pressed on, she might take his offer, but she would NOT ask him to join her, not in a million years. Her pride was too great.
Celeste smiled a grateful smile and walked past him and into the dark tangled entrance of the lifa tree. She expected him to stop her, if not say something. If not, she and the man were both on their own.
The inside of the Iifa tree was like nothing you had ever seen before. It was dark, damp, roots travelled downwards in a large circular motion. And at the very bottom. So far down it was like a pin prick. Was a spot of light. Glowing softly in a green hue. Insects crawled about within this tree...naturally it would be the home to all sorts of creatures...not ony this summoning beast. You had at this point no real idea as to where the summoning creature made its home. However that soft glowing light was for now your best bet.
Future description: ( For use during rp). When you reach the bottom of the roots. The glow will become far more intense, and you will be brought in an area that seems like a huge cave. From the roof there is a large spiney structure spiraling downwards. At the edge of the ground you stand on is what appears to be a leaf attached to the structure. Upon standing on this leaf you will be taken to the bottom of the Iifa tree like a huge elevator.
At the bottom of the Iifa tree you will see that the glowing green is actually the lifestream. The soul of the planet. (( After this point I'll admin post again as Fenrir))
This girl was a spunky one; the answers that he got from her… He was now sure that this female was very well capable of getting through with little to no problems.
He had gotten a few things from her response; for one she was a loner, which meant that she did not enjoy the company of others; thus meaning that she did not like working in teams. The second thing he induced from what he had deducted; she had pride, lots of it, and she would never ask for help, instead she would only accept offers of help when she really needed it.
The girl walked into the tree. Sonzai being curious of what he could miss if he didn’t take this chance quickly walked in behind her. The insides of the lifa tree was a dark place indeed just like he expected. However; aside from that nothing else was like he had ever seen before. The roots of the trees traveled downwards; almost as if the roots themselves made a well; or a vertical tunnel. At the very bottom was a faint green light; small and glimmering like a star does in the sky. Like the tiny glimmer of hope that shone in the darkest of places. Sonzai looked down amazed by the sight. The whole time in he had kept quiet by the awe that he felt as he looked around. It was truly something that he would never be able to read in books. This would be information that could only be gotten by experiencing the place oneself.
Sonzai then remembered; the girl would never ask for help. Might as well offer it; if she would ask him to back off then he would simply stay behind and just follow her and marble at the insides of the lifa tree. A tree which he now wondered how tall was if you started measuring from the roots. “You need any help? I’m not a great fighter or anything; and don’t know how much of a help I could be… but anything is easier when two go at it together… right?” Almost as soon as he finished talking, before the girl could even answer “fire” he mumbled. The dark cave-like features of the tree lit up as a fireball appeared on Sonzai’s hand. The fireball rose up as Sonzai put his hand back to his side. He’d have to use some concentration in order to keep that one up.
Sonzai knew; if he wanted to see the Fenrir he’d have to find it… sadly he did not know what business this girl had in the lifa tree. Mattered not; He would simply follow her anyway, and with any luck they might run into it. Sonzai then kept walking behind the girl. Hoping that she would not dislike what he had just said. She had earlier showed some signs of dislike toward the questions he had asked; and hoped that this would not be the case this time around when he was offering his help to her. She had made fun of him earlier but at this moment in time; just being acknowledged was good enough for him; no matter how good or bad the treatment was against him.
Sonzai didn’t really know how to interact with others too well. The reason being how he was always ignored before; just introducing himself and talking the way he did back then was already a feast accomplished for him. However; just because at some point she showed some signs of dislike Sonzai had felt like he had failed. Was she still mad at him? Was she not? Would she care if he just tagged along? Would she not care? The questions filled Sonzai’s head. He wondered how dead the prospective friendship was already, even though it had not even started yet. Even if he thought that chances were he would never see her again, but if they did... would their interaction change? Would fate make them meet each other again? Sonzai kept on thinking; whilst still following her. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Word count 677 Total: 2427
Celeste’s eyes glowed quickly adjusting to the darkness. She prowled around the darkness taking in her surroundings. This place was unlike any other place she’d ever traveled to before. The roots inside the tree arced downwards making some kind of passageway, and somewhere far off, she saw a light as faint as a far away star, twinkling in the darkness. She cocked her head to the side and wondered what lay beyond the twinkling light. It could conceivably be where Fenrir is to be located. In her mind flashed all the pictures she saw in the book many years ago. Not a whole lot of information to come by, but it was sufficient.
From behind her she heard Sonzai walking close by. So he decided to follow… Celeste wasn’t irritated as to his tagging along, if anything she was pleased to have him accompany her. Two heads are better than one. But she did not acknowledge him, for this would give him assurance in their partnership and she didn’t want that. Not only would it make her uneasy but it could prove complicated. She never attached herself to anyone she met. Anyone she did meet she usually ended up killing, or she never saw them again. That or they got a little too attached and she scared them off, threatened, beaten them up, or gotten away from them herself. A loner, that’s what she was and that’s the way she liked it. She was so used to it after a lifetime of it, although she did make an exception when it came to using people. That was what she intended to do with Sonzai. Use him then bruise him… Not literally. And it wasn’t as if she knew what HE was doing here, and as long as it wasn’t to steal her score, she could care less what his business was.
When he spoke up, she looked at him with a bit of an annoyed look. Now, if only he would keep his mouth shut… She wanted to say “NO, why would I need any help?” but instead kept it to herself, but maybe the look she gave him gave him that same impression. And, wonderful, he IS a softie. Not a great fighter. So how helpful could he possibly be? Was he just going to sit around and watch for Fenrir, then run away at the last second? How low was such an act, and what a coward he must be! Celeste rolled her eyes as she walked ahead of him. Immediately she started thinking of ways to get rid of Sonzai. But then he did something unexpected.
“Fire.”
Celeste did get a hint of annoyance by it, since she could see, but she realized he was only trying to be helpful, and trying was better than not, so she let it go. Maybe if he was actually trying to be of some use, she didn’t have to get rid of him after all. He was a mage. Perhaps he underestimated his skills a great deal. She nodded thanks to him and continued to walk on. Even that was a strange thing for her to do and she questioned it in her mind, but let it go after seeing no use in pondering on about it.
The two walked on and on until they reached the bottom of the roots where the glow reached its greatest intensity. Celeste had to squint and put her hand over her eyes to protect her keen therefore sensitive eyes. They entered an area that was so gigantic, and looked like a cave. Celeste observed the cave in awe. It was beautiful. From the roof, a large spiney structure spiraled downwards. At the far edge of where they stood is what looked to be a leaf attached to the structure. Celeste curiously walked towards it and stopped before it to examine it. What kind of mechanism was this? Sonzai stood behind her. She wondered if she should give him her name. Celeste never really did give strangers her name. If things turn out well, and if he turns out to be more than meets the eye, maybe she would.
Celeset took a step on the leaf, and when nothing happened, she stands on it. Only seconds passed before it moves. She takes a hold of the stranger, who simply stood and watched, by his cloak and pulled him aboard the leaf. At that moment it took them down like an elevator. Down to the bottom of the great lifa tree they went. As they went down, Celeste began to think about the glow that came from the tree. It looked like something she recognized but could not put her finger on it. Then it came to her. She recalled certain information and images she saw and read in a book, and other times she saw it in real life, but could not remember when. The lifestream; the soul of the planet. Celeste was silent struck in awe. When the ‘leaf elevator’ reached the bottom, both Sonzai and Celeste stepped off.
At the bottom of the large spiral structure the green light was glowing to an almost unbearable spectrum of light. Despite being underground, there was a wind blowing that was rather strong, a big gust, constantly battering against your faces. Suddenly the wind died done, and from within it came the echoes of a howl coming from below. Down in the life stream. Silence...and then a stronger blast of wind forcing you backwards. Something was running up the side of the walls of the cave. It jumped. And landing in front of you was a huge white wolf.
It bore its fangs and stared at you both. " You are the ones to disturb my slumber!.....I'll tear you to pieces!".

Sonzai had seen the thankful look on the girl’s faces he lit up the fire to light the way; but she had said nothing, and thus Sonzai took her silence as a sign. She did not want to talk to him. Ignored again…
He took a step on the leaf and it worked like an escalator that took them down to the deeper part of the tree. The green light that was a pin not a moment ago was not a strong incandescent green; a green that had penetrated his eyes. Sonzai covered himself a fettle so as to not go blind form the brightness. The two had kept walking silently.
The silence between the two felt heavy; one could almost cut through it with a knife. The two had been dead silent; and the only thing that broke that lack of words; that deadliness that surrounded their lack of speech was the sound of their footsteps. If even that were lacking, Sonzai could swear he was inside a crypt.
The gentle breeze that had been blowing since they had gotten off the leaf had started to grow strong; with each step they took, the winds picked up and gained more and more force. It got to the point where Sonzai could swear that he would simply fly off because the win was pushing him; blowing against his face, making it hard for him to breathe. The air was being forcibly pushed into his lungs, Sonzai colored his nose as the fire he lit up earlier simply went off.
It didn’t really matter; the fire was simply replaced by the green glow given by the life stream. Suddenly; after a few more steps the wind had simply gained extra force; nod it was enough to blow him and Celeste down to the floor. A figure could be seen running on the walls of the cave.
A gigantic wolf had jumped off the wall and landed on the two that were now lying on the floor. Its great fangs bore on the two as the beast’s piercing eyes stared at them. "You are the ones to disturb my slumber!... I'll tear you to pieces!" Stated the wolf that stood in front of the two.
Sonzai’s eyes were widened by surprise and amazement, he could not believe it. The great Fenrir stood before his eyes, the majestic creature stood before them; its eyes filled with rage. Sonzai was amazed, and then he realized it; they were in trouble.
Sonzai quickly got up and opened the palm of his hands; a white light filled the room as a scythe made its appearance on Sonzai’s hand; he quickly gripped his weapon and spun it around until he ended up grabbing the handle with his two hands; his feet were now separated, Sonzai was in his battle position. He looked at the girl who was still on the floor. There was no time to help her up; not under these circumstances.
The purple wearing red mage ran to his left as he said “Magician’s slash!” The scythe lit up with fire; and Sonzai swung his scythe at the beast; a blade of fire made it’s way onto what Sonzai saw as the great silver haired wolf. The green light that illuminated the area reflected on its skin. Although He could not see the colors very well because of the green light affecting the way that color reflected off the surface; in Sonzai’s eyes, the Fenrir still looked as beautiful as ever. Truly a sight that could only be really appreciated when one saw it in real life.
The enraged Fenrir looked at Sonzai’s way almost instantly; its hateful look had said it all to Sonzai. How dare they wake me up form my slumber and THEN attack me!? Sonzai thought the Fenrir was thinking. The Fenrir started to make way toward Sonzai; it lunged at him. Sonzai jumped to his left and rolled. He would allow for the girl to completely take the wolf by surprise.
He hoped the girls would simply understand the plan and attack accordingly; hoping that she would know that the two would have to work together and distract the wolf so that the other one could do a surprise attack.
Sonzai jumped backwards; the wolf was again about to pound at him; just in time had he escaped… The wolf started to move in a weird manner. The winds started to pick up again. “Oh No you don’t!” Said Sonzai as he understood what was happening. He dashed forward toward Fenrir and aimed for its leg; Sonzai swung his scythe horizontally as he got closer to the beast and landed a hit on it. This hit was quickly followed by a combo in succession. A low sweep horizontal slash across its leg; the scythe got brought up above Sonzai’s head, a diagonal slash down hitting its face. The movement continued on, Sonzai had let go of the scythe with his right hand and had his left pass it back from behind on to the right arm. The scythe got brought up again as it did another diagonal slash; almost as if he were holding a baseball bat Sonzai brought the blade of his scythe up and mustered up his strength. With all his might Sonzai swung the scythe horizontally. Each hit augmented by the fire embedded onto the scythe.
Sonzai was not wondering how the girl was faring; wondering how long he could hold off the mighty wolf until the girl would attack it. Sonzai was not confident on his skills as a fighter. How would he be? He had grown up training by himself; the books could only take you so far, it was experience and skills what made you a good fighter. Technique was simply something that anybody could learn if they took the time to do everything as the books said.
Sonzai stood there as he saw the beast turn back on him ferociously; probably because it did not like the little stunt that Sonzai had pulled; but at this point it time, it didn’t matter anymore. Sonzai’s eyes grew stronger, as the he stared at the beast’s eyes his expression grew more serious. He would try to endure this; first he had to save his life and not die, then he would daydream about this encounter as much as he liked; but the task at hand was much more important than to just marble. If he died now; he would be unable to continue his journey.
The Fenrir suddenly let out a strong how and the wings started to pick up really fast; this time Sonzai had no time to retaliate. The speed of the wing had increased so abruptly that he was blown back. The wolf itself became like the wind; and like a phantom; the wolf disappeared and separated into several heads made out of air. The heads went though Sonzai’s body and quickly passed through him. Sonzai was pushed farther back as he hit the floor with what felt like heavy damage. The sapphire on his bracelet started to glow Azure blue as it started its healing process. Sonzai was taken by surprise; The Fenrir was indeed a strong creature; and Sonzai had just had a firsthand experience on it.
Sonzai got up with difficulties; the Fenrir still staring at him with its enraged face. Sonzai stared at him in fear. Sonzai wondered if he would survive this battle against the Fenrir; and for a faint second he thought about running away; but it was too late to run already; the Fenrir had no doubt set it’s sights on Sonzai, and even if he also set sights on the girls; the three had already started the fight. Filled with fear; Sonzai stared at the beast and thought that this could be his last day on earth. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Word count: 1313 Total: 3740

OOC: Celeste Sorry to have made you wait this long. I had 2 exams which i probably failed on tuesday ^_^
It was silent between the two. Celeste remained calm with a passive, if not peaceful, expression across her face. She was a very anti social person, but she knew how to get around, too. She had high charisma, by looks, mostly, but a lot of that was from tricking people good or getting her way with people/getting them to do as she wanted. This was not like that sort of state of affairs, since Sonzai was already tagging along. When it came to idle chit chat, Celeste was an amateur. She could feel how uncomfortable he was, but she didn’t know what to say. Basically, she was tongue tied. “Hey, some weather we’re having, huh?”?
Also, she was merely uninterested in discussion, and was more or less comfortable with the silence. That’s what she was used to. If the man wanted to talk, Celeste wasn’t going to reject him. She looked at him from the corner of her eye and stifled a chuckle but went back about her business of thinking.
They went deeper, and instead of getting darker, it got brighter, to a great extent, and Celeste had to squint through the power of the light and cover her eyes with her hands in order to keep herself from going blind.
As the two walked, and the winds picked up, the only thing on Celeste’s mind was, was she strong enough to defeat this magnificent creature? Sonzai had no idea what he was getting himself into, and neither did she. She was strong, dexterous, witty, but was that enough to take on the great beast? How strong was Sonzai exactly? But the adrenaline, the adventure, the thrill of the experience that flowed through her kept her moving on.
And now the winds were so powerful, it seemed it could easily sweep them off their feet and send them flying. Celeste struggled to keep steady breathing, but managed just fine by just forcing her lungs to work harder. How troublesome this was, but did she expect any less from this? No, not really.
Unsurprisingly, as they continued, the winds simply grew stronger! The two fell to the ground under its great force. She caught something zooming by at the corner of her eye and was quick enough to follow it. A gigantic wolf darted from the walls and landed, unpredictably landing softly, but the beast was ferocious as it bore its fangs at the two and glared down at the two. IT would send chills down the greatest man’s back.
“You are the ones to disturb my slumber...!”
Adrenaline rushed through her system, and fear gripped at her. The hair in the back of her neck stood at end as Goosebumps appeared on her soft skin. Her eyes widened in wonder, reverence, awe.
“I’ll tear you to pieces!”
He was beautiful and powerful, and beyond what she had actually imagined.. Pictures were good to look at but the real thing left you speechless. The fact that he was about to unleash his wrath upon the two didn’t seem to faze her. This was what she came here for. A sly smile crossed Celeste’s faultless lips as she stared with devious eyes at the creature in a rage. She had forgotten all about Sonzai… until he sprung into action that is. A flash of light made her look his way, and there he stood in a battle ready position with a weapon that wasn’t there before; a scythe. He looked just once at Celeste, and quickly looked away. He wasn’t about to waste his time on helping her up. Celeste’s smile widened. The kid was spunky despite his previous sheepishness. He had said something before about him not being a very good combatant. This, of course, was just words coming out as what seemed to Celeste as lack of confidence, or self-esteem. She had thought he was simply underestimating himself, and she was right. He took off and slashed at the wolf with a blazing scythe. “Magician’s slash!” That was a nice touch, she thought. And despite his words, his display of slashes at the beast proved otherwise.
Celeste stood up slowly and prowled around Fenrir and Sonzai as Sonzai had Fenrir’s full attention. The crazed wolf lunged at him and he rolled out of harm’s way. As he watched the two, she realized what he was trying to do; the message he was trying to send her. Working together was the only solution to this- Surprise attacks were the key. Celeste grits her teeth together with a displeased expression on her face. She heaved a heavy sigh and sucked her pride up. He was right. Her face softened and got serious as she glared at the beast from behind. She took a look at Sonzai whom was facing her way. He was fully engaged. But then the wolf let out a strong howl that made the winds go crazy! The winds threw him back and she watched the wolf shift into many heads that appeared to be made out of air. They went through Sonzai’s body and passed through him, and he practically flew backwards hitting the floor with a loud thud. He was injured, she could tell about the way he got up that he took on a great deal of damage. And the look in his eye had changed completely into that of panic, horror, you name it. The creature was so involved into killing Sonzai, he had completely forgotten about her. "Big mistake, bub." She whispers.
Celeste ran on the double with breakneck speed to the right of Fenrir, its back facing her, her feet barely made a sound on the ground. She pulled both Sais from her belt spinning them in her hands and finally taking hold of them by the handles. He was about to lunge at Sonzai, but just as he was, Celeste reached him.
((Serpentine Lightning Strike[/i]+random combo))
When she is at an appropriate distance from the beast, she jumps up delivering a flip over axe kick aerial spinning kick combo on his side and back. When she lands on his back, she doesn’t take chance and continues her barrage of attacks. She crosses her arms over the neck of the beast and delivers an ‘X’ slash, a downward and rising strike, double thrust stabbing through his neck, and spinning slash finisher. Before she knew it, he was off and Celeste crouched over on his back. She stabs the twin Sais through his neck; one on the left side and one on the right side. Fenrir jumped around in fury as Celeste tried to hold on, eyes resolute, and her face tense. Celeste was being thrown around like a rag doll as Fenrir crashed into walls, rolled on the ground, etc, trying to get her off, but she held on no matter how hard she hit those walls, or the weight of the beast on her, no matter what the pain. The black cloak, her auburn hair, whirled in the winds that seemed to get stronger by the second, howling in her ears. No way to use magic to cure herself in a situation like this.
Hopefully by now, Sonzai had collected himself and was ready to charge again. She had placed a certain trust on the stranger to do his part. Or perhaps he already took off. Maybe she should have just kept that trust to herself. She had grown up not to ever trust strangers. That look in his eyes she had caught moments before she charged at Fenrir attested to it. Fear gripped at her stronger than her adrenaline rush now, and it was a scary thing for her, but her determination and her will were still strong.

((NO worries, I take a long time too oh and message me if you'd like for me to make some changes to this/missed something, i was kinda in a rush.))
The girl had jumped on Fenrir as a surprise attack. She had indeed understood what Sonzai wanted to do. Sonzai stood there; watching as the girl started to throw a barricade of attacks against Fenrir and causing a considerable amount of damage. The Fenrir was no longer looking at him; but rather had his attention drawn to the girl who was on top of him. A final attack that crossed over the neck of Fenrir had been unleashed by the girl. Fenrir was not happy now; he had quickly started to ram on the walls.
Should I run? Can I stay? Sonzai kept thinking as he watched with fear what was taking place in front of him. Even if the girl had some sort of healing magic; she’d be unable to cast it on herself so long as she was getting sandwiched by the wolf and the wall.
Sonzai didn’t know what to do. He stood there frozen in fear and pain. The bracelet on his arm was still glowing Azure blue. He was now starting to feel much better. When the wolf’s attack had gone through him; he thought that he was about to die. Death; it was such a scary though. He wanted some danger; and adventure, but death was not something he realized he was prepared for. And now; he was in the face of death as he faced Fenrir. Not knowing if he would survive anymore. These were the thought that fueled his desire to escape.
No… Sonzai thought again. I can’t call myself a Nobleman and completely leave a girl fighting alone. This; was his other line of thinking; the one reason why he hadn’t simply just run away. His mind was in turmoil; and the decision of fighting or fleeing had finally overtaken him. Almost as if somebody had cast ‘Stop’ on Sonzai.
As the pain slowly subsided Sonzai decided; he was going to leave. He started taking a few steps toward the exit when he heard the girl scream in pain. Sonzai turned around and saw Fenrir using a great deal of force in order to push himself backwards and slam against the wall. The looks of conviction filled Sonzai one more time. For some reason; his chivalry had overtaken him this one time.
At the end of the day; he simply could not leave the poor lady battling Fenrir by herself. “Wise… Sage… Barrage…” he said with a voice that brimming with anger, anger at himself for even thinking about leaving the girl to her own devices, and at the same time determination; determination of beating the beast that was mercilessly attacking the girl. She was after all waiting for him to do his part; and following up on his idea. In some deep level, Sonzai knew that the one who put her under this situation was he himself. He would have to take the consequences this time.
Sonzai shook a little as he called out his attack. He had never once used it before and didn’t know how stable it was. The scythe’s blade was glowing with a dark aura around it; darkness beyond the darkness. If Sonzai himself did not know any better, he would think that this attack was stemmed from demonic magic. Yes; that would be what could best describe what was around the scythe’s blade. Something similar to a demon’s aura; an attack filled to the top with black magic, not a trace of white magic in it. Even the lightning had taken a dark color. Probably due to the status effects that had been stored within this one attack. A black magic concentrate that would not doubt have some levels of instability into it.
Sonzai had to test the attack out first; make sure it was not going to get out of control and ended up harming the girl instead. He spun the scythe behind him and caught it with his other hand. The darkness surrounding the blade floating up like flames of darkness, the dark ember-like features that would separate themselves and simply dissipate into nothingness; liquid-like movement and flow with an occasional jagged line that would crackle; a soft yet ominous wind that would from time to time escape the scythe; and the weight of the blade itself increasing ever so slightly from time to time.
Sonzai positioned himself; in order to simply be ready for anything that could happen as he unleashed this blade. He was prepared to be pulled back; anything would go. Sonzai jumped and threw a downward slash that was aimed go be at a medium range of Fenrir’s location.
The blade traveled toward the floor and made contact; immediately following a fairly big explosion had reached Fenrir’s face. The explosion was caused by the instability of all the magic contained inside the simple blade; the heat of fire and the asphyxiating water. The lightning damage and the slap of the wind, this last one absorbed by Fenrir; and lastly the rocks flying around and about; a dome where all the elements had gathered together in one attack. If one were to stand in the middle of such display, the damage would not be light.
Fenrir’s movements stopped completely; the winds had completely stopped flowing inside the little cave-like battlefield. The Fenrir was now poisoned. The creature had been blinded, silenced, cursed, frozen in time, whatever status affliction that could be cast by black magic, save virus, had now overtaken the creature.
A second slash; this one even closer to Fenrir, yet still away to avoid hitting the girl; Sonzai had stopped his attack; it would be enough for her to finish it. Sonzai feared his own attack. He stopped. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Word count: 950 Total: 4690

OOC: Sorry =3 I almost went overboard ^_^ Your kill Celeste.
Somewhere far off, Celeste could hear Sonzai's footsteps. She began to get angry. At herself for being so careless, a foolish attribute, and for trusting Sonzai. She didn't know if he had run off or not. If he had, it would take a lot out of her, so much more than ever before. She might not even make it. This was a fact she had come to terms with even before she entered the premises of the lifa tree.
Celeste couldn't hold on any longer and before she was flung off by the heaving, jumping, enraged Fenrir, she pulled her Sai out from his neck and kicked at his back when he arched upwards in a jump, and she flew off of him twisting in the air.
When she was in the air, there was an explosion. Was it just dumb luck? Luck usually was on her side, but sometimes... the case was not so. The explosion was unlike any other, crackling and seeping with unstable dark magics, and had such force behind it that it pushed Celeste in the air and she lost control of landing in a safe way. Celeste landed, but not on her two feet. No, not on her hands or knees, but instead hit the floor with her body and bounced off like a rubber ball twice and rolled on the ground, and finally, skidded to a stop on her side. Hitting the ground like that was not only rather painful, but shocking. So much for her catlike reflexes. Cursing under her breath, she pushed herself upwards and stood in a battle ready position, one sai for each hand, gasping for breath. Celeste was shaken up and her knees shook, but not out of fear. Maybe a mixture of exhaustion, but more than anything this battle was the most exciting thing she'd ever come across and she wasn't about to back down either. She wouldn't let Sonzai get all the glory.
Speaking of which, Celeste was surprised he had not gone. The last time she looked at him he looked as if he took a nice warm shit in his pants, perhaps getting ready to take a piss, and run back to his momma back who knows where; fear. The kid was afraid to die, and it was plain obvious. Fearing death was like fearing life. You never really did get anywhere in life with that kind of thinking. You end up a follower for the rest of your life and never seek out an adventure, a life for yourself. As it stated in a book she read long ago, "Learn how to live, and you'll know how to die; learn how to die, and you'll learn how to live."
But she was satisfied to know that she was wrong, for there he was, attacking away at Fenrir. Celeste smirked behind the hair covering her face. She had a thing or two to say to him when this was all over.
And then all was still. Like the peace that seems to be after a raging hurricane ravages and destroys. The winds ceased, and so did Fenrir. He was rather slow and the injuries made him drag a little. He bore into Sonzai's direction, a hungry wolf seeking out his pray. It was almost as silent as the grave for about a split second before Celeste bolted for him. Take advantage of every opportunity. You never know when it could be too late!
She moved fast, not as fast as before, but definitely faster than what Fenrir could progress at the moment, and he seemed only distracted by those who attacked him at the moment. Fenrir, probably being satisfied of having taken her off his back, and possibly thinking that was the last he'd see of her, ignored her once again. Blood was oozing out from where she had stabbed him on both sides of his neck, and he was banged up from Sonzai's own slashes and explosions. His body was worn, but could he even tell? It seemed not. As she ran she used a weak cure spell, one that she'd practiced as a youngling, but not enough to truly master it. It only healed minor wounds and left the bigger ones alone. Still a bit scratched up and bruised, she ingnored the pain and ran on.
Celeste threw both Sai at his side as she ran at him and pierced right through him, and he let out a yelp and glared at her, snarling menacingly. Her cloak and hair whirled behind her as she drew out her long dagger, and Fenrir dashed for her. She let out a 'war cry' as the beast slashed at her with his huge claws. Celeste jumped to the left dodging and she slashed with her dagger slashing horizontally and vertically and in "X" patters over and over at his face and chest. Fenrir bit at her, but Celeste swiftly dodged. Her concentration was at an all time high. The beast moved back and what looked to be like a retreat for Celeste was really something else. She moved to pierce the beast with the dagger to finish him off, but suddenly he charged and bit at her free arm. He had the entire arm in his mouth before biting down. Celeste yelled as Fenrir's piercing teeth cut through her skin and into her arm, if she didn't do something it would surely come off. Sure, her skin was harder and she was tougher than any ordinary human, but Fenrir wasn't just any ordinary beast either. He moved his head from side to side and she had had enough of that. Celeste flipped the dagger in her free right hand holding it upside down and stabbed at Fenrir's big, angry eyeball. Immediately his jaw opens letting out a cry of pain from the beast and Celeste pulls back, leaving the dagger stuck in his eye. She double high kicks the beast as he hurled backwards on his hindlegs, and he fell backwards.
Celeste staggered backwards and nearly tripped, but caught herself by placing a firm foot behind her. She held onto her left forearm as it bled. The wound was very deep and needed attention, but Celeste ignored it as she stood there catching her breath as she watched the beast. Would he get back up? Would he continue to fight? That would be very admirable, but it would be more troublesome than anything else. Her weapons were lodged into the beast at the moment, so she hoped that he would just give up and let it be. She caught her breath and watched in silence.
((Sorry for the late responce, grounded and other drama stuffs yeah....anyway, Sonzai, was wondering if you'd like to continue some fun dialogue/character interaction? ;3 ))
Defeated. Fenrir fell to the ground breathing heavily. From the creature seemed to appear a black smoke rising upwards into the air. After this had dispipated the beast seemed to calm. It looked upwards, its eyes staring into Celeste's. Only she would hear its voice. " Thank you child of the forest....I cannot remember how long it has been since my mind was my own.....some time ago my spirit encountered another presense....a dark one...I thought I could resist it....but...". It growled, and licked one of its wounds.
" I failed...."
The wolf stood up and slowly walked towards the edge of the ground. Its head turned. " You have shown me you are strong enough to use my power properly.....I will bow to you.....". The wolf began to fade away. But just before it did it spoke these final words. " Beware child of the forest....the dark presense still lingers.....".
Stillness; complete silence; Sonzai saw a black aura fly away from Fenrir. It stood there for a while; nothing going on. It was facing the girl; almost as if they were having a conversation; what of? he didn't know.
The beast faded away; and all that Sonzai did was simply stand there. breathing heavily. He was not really even thinking right now. He could barely move; the adrenaline had finally stopped flowing, the pain was settling in. Sonzai's chest was now hurting even more.
The scythe disappeared from Sonzai's hand; going back into his necklace. He bent his knees and crouched on the floor; his bracelet still glowing a bright azure blue. Deep breaths; a breathing that could be easily heard, panting.
And there we was standing inside the dark; The great dark cave where he stood behind her. His body tired his mind not in its place, He slowly stood and walked up behind her.
And slowly walking toward that brave girl, He tapped her shoulder with a look of pain; With troubles breathing and to even stand. "You did well I'm sorry that I doubted; I thought of running and not stay around; I thought of leaving and not help you out; But I'd be foolish if I did run out." Sonzai said as he held down his head. His face cast down with gloom and with regret.
Telling the truth with his most honest face, his gloom expression giving him away. Regret had taken him a hostage here; redemption was what he wished to receive. "Would you ever forgive this lowly man?" he asked the girl with his most gentle face. Expecting nothing in return from that, the apology he thought not enough.
How can she forgive his actions just now? he thought. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Word count: 300 Total:4990
OOC: So like sorry how the post looks weird and grammatically wroong at many points... I randomly started to try typing in iambic Pentameter halfway in the post. could have gone for longer but tired; getting sick, should sleep. sorry also because the post was so short.
((I did something wrong. I, as a rogue, am suppose to double experience when i fight, so when i fixed things...it was a drastic change. I damaged Fenrir a total of 4834. Sonzai's damage total was 2263. Added together that would be a total of 7097. So, really, Fenrir should have been beaten long ago....My mistake. I'm sorry.))
Celeste stared at Fenrir as he spoke with a sympathetic and thoughtful expression. She listened to his final words as a free creature as if they were that of a dying man's. She doubted them. Part of them. Like how she was strong enough. If it weren't for Sonzai, she might not have made it. She might not haver seen the light of day again. If luck would bring it, Celeste might have gotten away, as such were the ways of any good warrior. Run and live to fight another day. But the ways of a rogue were much more cowardly and sneaky than that. Celeste knew she would not run. Not only did her pride forbid her, but it would have been an honor to die by the claws of this great and mighty beast; Fenrir.
Celeste was like that, thoughtful for so long, and then they were one; Fenrir and Celeste. It felt like such a high honor, she almost regretted coming there. Almost. And not only did she feel him but...something else. She couldn't quite put her finger on what Fenrir said about the dark presence still lingering. Maybe it was that. She stared at the ground as she thought, and then was distracted by a tap to the shoulder. She turned to see Sonzai, looking in so much pain and sorry, the anger she felt for him almost melted away. Almost. She stared at him with a proud and angry face as he spoke, scoffed at one point of his little speech, but her faced softened at the very end. Celeste was humbled by him and truly grateful. He had saved her life whether she would like to think so or not. Irritated she was by the fact that he was going to run away, but thankful and relieved to know that he didn't.
There was silence between the two when he finished, but his heavy, painful breaths came strong. Dizziness threatened to take her to unconsciousness as her knees buckled where she stood and she knelt there. She had pushed her mind away from the pain of her body and wound that she had lost a significant amount of blood. Celeste used level 2 cura on herself, and her wounds heal. She stands up and looks at Sonzai for a moment. She casts cura on him and says, "Apology accepted." She smiles slyly as she walks over to him and puts a hand on his shoulder. "Now we're even." She says coolly, almost too cold a thing to say .
Celeste walks past him and continues to walk, but then she started to feel bad. Why should she feel bad? Because Sonzai saved her life. That fact was more than obvious. If it weren't for him, this quest might as well have been a suicide mission. Celeste owed him more than just a quick cure spell. That was almost like shoving it in her face. Besides, what was the hurry? It's not like she was prepared for the long journey back to wherever it was that she was going to next, which really was nowhere. She stopped walking for a moment, her back faced to him, then turned her head looking at him from the corner of her eye. "I owe you one." Her voice sounding sincere when she says this.
My life. That was her way of saying 'Thank You'. Without having to actually say the words. Being prideful, but not really. He was lucky to even get that 'thank you' out of her. It was also her way of making him say what he wanted from her. And he better not say she didn't owe her anything. If anything, that would insult her.
Silence, complete and utter silence; a silence that lasted a few seconds, seconds that to Sonzai felt like an eternity. The two figures stood there; the green light glowing eerily around them, the face of the girl showing clear signs of anger. Sonzai’s face now cast down, the shadowing on their faces; half hidden in the darkness.
He saw her lift her hand and use Cura on herself, and then on him. “Apology accepted” she said; her voice resonating from the walls. “Now we’re even” she said. Sonzai gave a sigh of relief; she was mad but not too mad, especially if she was willing to cure him.
She started to walk past him; her steps echoing through the walls of this underground cavern, Sonzai had turned around to follow her; feeling much better after she cured him. Inside the green glowing cave; the echoes produced by the two of them stepping on that big empty space that had just served as a battlefield.
The echoes of her steps stopped abruptly as she stopped walking; Sonzai was still a bit far from her, he had kept his distance a bit for he had thought that maybe she would like to have some space. “I owe you one” she said a few second later; her face slightly turned as she watched him form the corner of her eyes. This caused Sonzai to stop cold; the echoes of his step disappearing too. Again this dead silence filled the cave.
He didn’t expect it; and this had taken him by surprise, especially because she was such a prideful one. Her voice sounded so sincere, she was thanking him. Sonzai stood there quiet for a few seconds; wondering how he should answer her statement. He thought about telling her that she didn’t owe him anything, but he had noticed by now; such a person with such pride would be offended if he said that she didn’t. “Yes… You do owe me one” he said with a careful and pondering voice. Wondering how that answer would sit with her.
Sonzai took a few steps forward and was not standing next to her; his face facing forward as he spoke now “I have read… of a creature that is capable of bringing the death back to life…” Sonzai turned his head to face celeste now “I don’t want to have somebody die while I’m with them; and since I can’t bring people back to life…” He closed his eyes and gave a small scoff at himself as he turned his head sideways and opened his eyes again; this time he was gazing at the place where they had been fighting just not long ago “It’s name is phoenix… and obtaining it would be as big of a suicide mission as fighting Fenrir alone… ” he said; he was clearly still regretting the fact that he almost left the girl to die back there.
“Would you please help me?” he said as he turned his face and stared at her eyes; fully understanding that if he didn’t ask; he would be insulting her and hurting her pride again.
Sonzai knew that this was not a small request he was making; but at the same time, the girl would probably not like it if he asked for a really small favor back from what had happened here just now. And even if it was a big request; she now had fenrir at his side, making the battle against phoenix much easier than this one. If she was looking to repay a favor in full; this would be what he thought be the one request that would keep him from hurting her pride. He knew; that in order for her pride to not be hurt he would have to either make it like he was begging her to help, or something along those lines. “Please?” he said again; this time almost in a whisper, the overall tone that of a person begging for help.
She would never offer… but she wants to repay in order to keep her pride intact… this will be the best way I can do so.
Sonzai stood there as he waited for her answer. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Celeste watched Sonzai carefully from the corner of her eye but then turned her head to look forward as she listened to his words. She had once read about the same creature Phoenix, whom has enormous power and can bring people back from the dead. She stood there pondering his request and the cave was filled with that same eerie silence, like a deserted village after it had been purged of all its life and treasures, as the souls of the dead brought on a wind washing over the silence making you shiver in what you think may be cold, but is actually fear.
Sonzai’s request was not a small one, that was for sure, but Celeste owed him. There was no reason for him to beg because there was no way she could take back what she said and say no to him either way. He was stuck with her just as she was stuck with him during this little ordeal of obtaining the summon Fenrir, whom she already had within her. So why not help a man whom risked his own life just so he could see the creature. It was not his intention to fight, but he did anyway. It was not his intention to get himself injured for her. It was her quest and yet he lends a hand. For this she was most grateful, for surely she would be as good as dead right about now IF she had stayed. Running away was also an option but one she knew in the back of her mind she would have never taken.
She turned her whole body around to face him, arms crossed leaning on her right leg. She tapped a finger on her arm as she sized Sonzai up and looked deeply into his eyes. Out of all people, why me?
“Alright.” She stared at him for a while longer; letting her reply sink in. “I’ll go with you and help you on your quest, like you helped me.” Her face remained passive and stone cold frozen defining her jaw in a way that made her look stronger, defiant or more self-assured.
Celeste recalled the airship she had heard coming before and immediately afterwards, Sonzai had appeared. Was it his ship? If it was, she was more than relieved. Having traveled miles upon miles, days upon days without much rest and only rations to eat, to reach this place and immediately fight a beast, certainly not on her best shape, it had taken a lot out of her. As she stood there she fought back exhaustion and the craving of a soft warm bed and meal to go along with that. She wasn’t about to show weakness in front of Sonzai. Celeste smiled. Not slyly like she normally does, but a real, genuine, reassuring smile towards Sonzai. It was a beautiful smile, one to behold, soft with a perfect row of pearly whites and a perfect pair of lips that belonged to an angel. The fact that she rarely smiled this way made it all the more beautiful and all the more to be grateful for it. She was a face meant to smile.
Celeste then turned around and walked back to the ‘elevator’ smiling still. “Well, what are you waiting for? Let’s get out of here. This place gives me the creeps.” It was a lie. She liked this place, more or less, she just needed an excuse to move on and get him moving along.
“Alright” said the girl “I’ll go with you and help you on your quest, like you helped me.” Sonzai smiled; a broad one. He stood there as he heard her speak; the girl however did not look too happy; her face was completely rigid, defiant, proud.
Something unexpected happened; Sonzai was about to take a step forward when she turned around and… smiled? Sonzai went into complete shock. She… smiled; and it was not like a smile he would expect from her; with the proud attitude she had; and the strong features she always presented, and that loner feeling that she gave off to him. A smile form her, one that looked so sincere was the last thing that he expected form her. It was… beautiful… perfect. Sonzai was blown back; her features had completely changed, softer and friendlier. The face of an angel was now facing him.
“Well, what are you waiting for? Let’s get out of here. This place gives me the creeps. ” She said; as Sonzai stood there frozen. As he heard her speak again he did not know if she was telling the truth or not. The place was not scary at all; rather; with all the emptiness and silence; it was rather serene, calm, soothing. He thought that out of anything; elves would love this place; it was so natural after all. Like a little kid Sonzai ran toward her with a smile to return hers; one of gratitude; He had felt honored that she would give him such a rare sight. As he reached her they both stated walking and got on the leaf that took them back up to the spiraling road.
As the two walked up the spiral road, the green light started to slowly get dimmer and dimmer, until it gave the feeling that it was fading away. The echoes of their steps resonated in the dark Cave. Thought this time around Sonzai didn’t use the fire spell; his eyes were very well accustomed to the darkness by now.
AT the end of the tunnel laid the end of the road. Both Sonzai and Celeste were finally out; the sun was now hurting Sonzai’s eyes; almost as if he wished he was back down again where green light had been more pleasant now.
Sonzai took an apparatus out of his pocket and an engine sound could be heard approaching the pair. It was Sonzai’s airship. Sonzai went up the ladder after he signaled Celeste to go up after him. “We’ll be using the airship; don’t worry about having to travel there… This should take about a day; please bear with the mild inconvenience. ” He told Celeste as she entered the ship. “Please do make yourself at home; if you feel the need to there is a room over there that you can use.” Sonzai was right now glad that he had his personal airship have various guest rooms juts in case it needed to get crowded.
The ship headed toward Midgar.
