*OOC This takes place before my thread in the mist continent*
The warm breeze rustled the leaves and branches of the forest as the various birds chirped and made their oh so wonderful animal noises. Zidane was trying to rest in a tree from all the traveling he had done when the native birds decided to all sing their morning song all at once, grumbling and deciding to strech out his body Zidane calmly and natually walked out onto the branch to get a sense of direction so he could head to the town nearby. *Well the point of this trip was to learn more about the world and to train, SO I guess I can't really complain.* Jumping to the next tree branch and continuing this movement naturally due to his monkey side Zidane's mind drifted off thinking of how the whole Theather group was here performing for some SeeD students.
Reaching the edge of the forest Zidane overshot the branch catching himself with his tail he used the momentum to swing under the branch and released his grip and performed a double flip and landed on his feet. Swinging his arms up like some gymnastic that had landed a amazing trick he stood there for a moment, "Of course I do something that is genuinely cool and no one is around," Looking around he could see the top of the Academy where everyone was staging their stuff at for the performance, "Not even a cute girl around to entertain." Putting his hands on his head Zidane headed towards the Academy, Hoping something interesting would happen.
“Oh… where is it where is it…” The young girl continued to search about relentlessly. This was bad she couldn’t find it. One of the girls in her class had been trying to tease and bother her about something, but she ignored it. The girl was unimportant and rather boring, so why not? But that had been a mistake. She had fallen asleep on one of the gardens benches, only to discover that once she had woken up, that her precious item was gone. Not too soon after, the girl that had been teasing her told her that she had taken it and dropped it somewhere in the forest outside of Garden, but where?
That’s how she ended up here. She abandon the training she was going to do and jetted out of the Garden alone just to search for it. If she didn’t… well, she didn’t know what she’d do. All she knew is that the item was irreplaceable to her. It held some kind of importance her past that she couldn’t remember and when she didn’t have it, she felt… weird? Was weird the word? Perhaps. Right now, she felt very nervous and her skin was tingling. Deep in her breasts, her heart beat quicker than it normally would and she felt sick. Was it just bad nerves? Something about it was important to her. So important that she felt something bad would happen if it was missing for too long.
Just how deep would someone go into this forest only to perform a malicious deed? And why her? She was upset, but more than upset, she was anxious. Not once did she give thought to the monsters that might be around or that it was possible that she might get lost, or even that she might be alone and in danger. As she approached the forest to begin her search, she watched a figure come sailing through the air just out the forest, only to land with an acrobatic flip outside it. She paused her running pace and stopped nearby just a few meters away in bit of shock. The figure had blonde hair… and a tail…? He didn’t seem to live here, so who was he? “Um… hello?” she said, her voice somewhat shaky.

Zidane was distracted by some old thoughts running through his head, A flash of blue light appeared and was quickly replaced by his first memory of Tantulas the Theater group of theives that had adopted him, snapping back to reality he heard some girl speaking to him, Looking over her he realized three different things. One she was a SeeD student, Two She seemed worried and finally Three she was cute.
*Finally, maybe she needs help with something.* Zidane stopped where he was and took a actor's bow towards the girl while saying, "Why hello there, My name is Zidane Tribal." Standing back up he smiled at the girl, "Who might you be? And are you going to the Theater Performance tonight?" Zidane asked all this while keeping an eye on the girl trying to read her reactions and body language. Noticing she was looking at his tail he reminded himself that the students of SeeD were humans so it might be unusual for them to see someone like him that wasn't some kind of monster.
Zidane couldn't help but wonder to himself, *Why is she out here by the woods, I get that she is a SeeD student but the monsters in there are no joke.* Keeping his smile constant he waited for her response.

The figure bowed and then introduced himself, asking a question about a theater performance. Reuna hesitantly took a step back, playing the braided pony tail for a second. It then occurred to her that she was being rude to this boy. Maybe he was a performer. That would explain the tail, right? That, or he was a monster… but he looked human, spoke human, and behaved humanly, so he couldn’t be… right? Or at least she thought. Well, she had heard something earlier on in the day about some kind of performance. However, she hadn’t paid too much attention. Likely, the huge crowd would be a turn off for her. And besides…
“Um uh… Zidane? My name is Reuna. I can’t go to a performance or anything today. I… I have to find something important. I think it’s somewhere in that forest.” Yet, she didn’t move just yet. Rather, she was shuffling her feet against the grass with her hands behind her back. She was attempting not to be rude and didn’t wish to simply rush right past him. However, her anxiety was still there and not too well hidden at this point. After a moment, she regained a normal posture and straightened out her Garden uniform.

“Reuna. That’s an interesting name.” Zidane mumbled to himself, “So you’re looking for something within the forest?” Looking back the way he had come, Zidane vaguely remembered seeing another human in the forest just before he reached the edge but didn’t think anything about it at that time. Looking back at the girl he could clearly tell that she was anxious about trying to find this item of hers and being around him seemed to make her more uncomfortable. Not wanting to make her feel any worse he tried to relax the atmosphere and get her to relax a little bit around him, grabbing his tail he pointed at it. “As you can see I do have a tail, yes it is real but no I am not a monster.”
Smiling he continued letting go of his tail, “I am part of the theater performance that is taking place back at the academy tonight, I got plenty of free time till then and if it was ok with you.” Walking towards the edge of the forest Zidane turned back to Reuna, “May I be of some help, I mean I was just in the forest.”
“Um… yes ?” she answered in response to her name being called. She blinked a few times at Zidane as she felt like she were being observed, but then relaxed a bit as he pointed out that he was not a monster. However, the tail was real. Interesting… not that she’d ask about it directly. But it was nice to be clear on that subject. Her body would appear to lose some of it defensive nature towards him as he let go of his tail and started to walk back towards the forest. He was a complete stranger to her, and a foreigner, but she just couldn’t seem to feel him to be a threat to her.
It was probably that smile. It was very caring and genuine when she saw it and allowed her to put herself at ease and shrug off a bit of her anxiety. Only a bit though, as her item was still… who know where. But when he offered his help, she smiled graciously and nodded her head, quickly stepping forward to follow him. “Oh my! Thank you Zidane!!! You’re such a life saver.” As she got close enough to be next to him, she then said, “I suppose I didn’t think about it before, but I guess there are a lot of monsters in here. But I just rushed over without thought. I’m glad I bumped into you.”
Now that she thought about it… how exactly was she going to find something like that in this forest? The item itself was very small, and even with its odd shape, which should stand out a bit, it was translucent. It’d probably be just by chance if they spotted it, and that’s if no form of monster or creature found it and broke… or ate it… The thoughts would funnel up around her head as they walked, and she’d groan audibly.
“Um… what I’m looking for is a hair piece of mine. A class mate of mind took it when I fell asleep and then told me that she’d dropped it somewhere around here. I know it sounds foolish to look for something that should have no value, but it’s important to me. All I know is that I’ve always had it since I’ve been at Garden. I guess it’s kind of like my treasure.” She then frowned a bit and crossed her arms. “I don’t think it’ll be easy to find though. It’s a feather shaped clip and it’s kinda translucent. I’m sorry?” she said, apologetically
Taken surprised by Reuna’s sudden enthusiasm Zidane’s smile grew even wider and he chuckled, Reuna moved closer to him and he could finally see her in good detail and to his surprise she was way cuter then he had thought. *Wait a translucent feather hair clip…* Looking back to the forest he could barely see the tree he was sleeping in just a few minutes ago it was about 100 yards away from the edge of the forest, honestly if it was just him it wouldn’t take that long to retrace his path and find the area the human was in from earlier. Turning back to Reuna he looked at her physically, She seemed in good physical shape and the reputation of the SeeD students that they were top notch mercs for hire. “So you mean to tell me that your evil classmate took your precious hair clip and hide it in the monster infested woods?” Crossing his arms with his chin in his hand he continued, “On top of that it happens to be a small translucent feather shaped hair clip….” Nodding to himself Zidane smiled and grabbed Reuna’s hand, “Well let’s start I saw a human on my way to the edge of the forest earlier so if we retrace my path we will have a better chance of finding it right?” Not waiting for her response he pulled her into the forest with a smile on his face excitement and determination filling his body, ready for the new adventure. “Oh and since I am helping you with this could you do me a favor also?”
As she got closer to Zidane, she felt his hand wrap around her own tightly as she pulled her into the forest. Shocked momentarily, she let out a small gasp, but she began keeping stride with him as they progressed. She could see him eyeing her up and down, but didn’t know what he was looking for or at. She would duck her head and move a bit as they passed by trees and low hanging branches. Occasionally, she winced her eyes slightly as small bits or cut or clips of leaf flew toward her face.
“I’m not sure if I would call her evil. Some of the students just aren’t very nice to me. They say I’m such an airhead sometimes, but I don’t pay them too much mind. But yes. I don’t see how someone could just do that…” Her tone was very mater-of-fact with little emotion held into, but she looked down as he moved, unhappy about the situation. However, Zidane’s enthusiasm made it seem like the problem would soon be solved, despite their difficulties. He did say that he’d seen the person earlier, so maybe that would cut the time down. When she got back to Garden, perhaps she’d confront the girl that took her hair clip.
“Hm?” her thoughts paused at his question. She had to think. This complete stranger was helping her out in a potentially dangerous environment without being asked and without question. They had only just met, but he was dead set on helping her. “You’re very kind Zidane. It would be hard to refuse a request from my savior. What can I do for you?” There was slight giggle somewhere in there as she smiled back at him. Though, she didn’t exactly know what she could do for him, she sure intended to try her best.
After going about 10 yards into the forest holding onto Reuna’s hand Zidane stopped and released her completely forgetting that he had grabbed her hand. “Alright we can do this one of two ways,” Pointing to the branches over head Zidane explained, “I can continue ahead and then trace the path back as you continue towards the tree this way with both of us meeting in the middle or we can both take the tree way and get there faster and just work our way back.” Smiling this made sense to Zidane since it was easiest for him to do after all he was use to hoping from building to building and tight rope to tight rope thanks to his agility and acrobatic skills.
Looking back at Reuna he notice that she probably couldn’t do all the things he could, *Well she is human so maybe the tree path won’t work.* Deciding to lean against a tree Zidane sat there pondering on the best way to get this down so that they could make it back in time for the performance. Snapping his fingers in excitement he realized that Reuna said she would do him a favor since he was her “Savior” Smiling he turned back to Reuna and with excitement in his voice, “For my favor will you come to the performance with me?”
Reuna looked at the trees over head after Zidane had let of her hand. It was sometime in the afternoon, so the sun was still out and shining brightly overhead. Through the canopy of branches and leaves overhead, many shadows would be cast, creating an interwoven next of wispy gray and black on the forest floor. If they were lucky, some of the sun overhead would reflect on it, so that it would catch their eyes easier. However, Reuna was sure she wouldn’t be able to follow Zidane in the trees. Even as a SeeD candidate such levels of agility were unheard of without some form of natural talent. She could only hope there wouldn’t be too many monsters in her path once they split for the time. Holding it tightly to herself, she said, “I’m afraid we’d have to go with the later. I’m in decent shape, but there’s no way I could move amongst the tree branches like you.”
Zidane seemed to get lost in thought for just a moment, but when he turned back to her, he made a request. Reuna seemed a bit surprised, however, “Well, um…” She turned her head and shied away a bit. “If it’s what you would like, then… yes, I’ll go to the performance with you. What will you be performing though?” After he replied, Reuna would say, “Well, we should start then. Lead the way Zidane. The monsters are more active later in the evening.” Once Zidane began to lead the way, Reuna would follow on ground, running as quickly as she could to keep up.
“So you can’t follow me in the trees but atleast you can follow me on the ground.” Running towards a tree Zidane pushed off the trunk of tree and soared through the air grabbing onto a branch swinging himself up onto it and continued pushing off branch after branch leading the way back to the tree he had been in earlier that day. Making sure to keep a reasonable pace so that Reuna didn’t get lost Zidane kept an eye out for any kind of trouble, it was getting late in the day and he knew that it was more likely for monsters to come out and cause trouble.
Stopping for a second to let Reuna catch up he felt something smack him in the head, rubbing his head he turned around and saw a family of Mu’s these creatures were normally harmless and very weak monsters. *Did I disturb their home?* Looking around while dodging another pebble he could see the eyes of tons and tons of Mu’s all staring at him as they stared back out of their holes that were bored into the trees. “Hey Stop throwing crap at me I’m not here to hurt anyone of you.” Jumping from branch to branch having to swing under some branches to dodge pebbles, Zidane pushed his body to atleast 60 percent of it’s ability just swinging and dodging the many rocks that flew through the air with such accuracy it was scary.
Out of the corner of Zidane’s eye he noticed some blob like thing moving slowly towards an open area that had a strange glitter coming from it. Not paying attention to what he was doing Zidane missed the branch he was going to grab and almost slammed into the trunk of the tree, reacting naturally he kicked out towards the tree and performed a back flip and rolled to the ground upon landing. “Hey Reuna I think I found your Feather….But…I think A Flan is about to get to it.” Smiling Zidane also said, “Oh and watch out for the Mu’s they can throw those pebbles with scary accuracy.”
“Right,” Reuna replied as Zidane leapt up the tree. Seeing the very short moment of time it took to get there, she figured he’d move pretty fast, so she prepared herself to follow. Of course, even with that preparation, she could only keep up so well. The tree branches obscured her vision and every time Zidane moved from one tree branch to another, it seemed a small cloud of leaves rained down in front of her. She ran partially shielding her eyes while tracing his movements.
However, he was aware of his speed advantage enough to stop every little bit so that she could catch up a bit. It helped, since she was in decent shape, cause it allowed her to get closer and not lose sight of him and she never appeared to get winded. Even so, Reuna had to wonder what sort of exercise or training routine he went through to be able to move like that so effortlessly. That’s how it seemed at first. However, once Reuna started getting close to him, Zidaned seemed to focus on the opposite direction.
There was a slight rustle in the air above as tree branches were moved slightly. Then a hail of stones began raining down ahead in the direction that Zidane was in. She gawked at first, amazed at how he was dodging them mid swing, but then, she immediately became more concerned with what was doing it. Sure, he was evading, but what if they hit him? What if they attacked her? She probably couldn’t evade that well on the ground. Well… there was one thing she could do…
Reuna ran forward for a bit while the Mu all were focused on Zidane, but she stopped once she felt she was in range. It took a moment’s concentration, but she began to channel magical energy within her body. Quickly, sparks of static would cause the pony tail behind her to raise upward slightly… then, “Strip away the ground with glistening blades! Thunder!” She raised a single hand in the air and then brought it down in a slashing movement, making a similar motion back across immediately afterwards. Sparks quickly gathered in the air near one of the trees then two thin bolts of lightning struck as if from nowhere up near it’s branches, bringing with it, the frightful roar of thunder.
She didn’t know if it hit anything or any of the monsters in it had died. More so, she wanted to frighten the creatures into silence. But would it have the opposite affect instead? While she was distracted, Zidane had called her attention, prompting her to run to catch back up again, “Coming!!!” She yelled as she quickly caught up, not that he had stopped. “Well, if they start attacking, I won’t feel bad if I actually hit any of them.” She folded her arms for a moment as if they were in the wrong, then whined, “Nooooo!!! You can’t have it!!! Come on Zidane, we have to stop it!” She looked about for the flan in question, a monster she was vaguely familiar with, then ran towards its direction as quick as she could. This time, she seemed like she was beginning to get fatigued, despite not losing pace.

Zidane got serious upon hearing the urgency in Reuna’s voice and started to move between the trees in the direction of the flan. He moved to the direct front the Flan’s vision so that it would notice him and hopefully get distracted by a moving living thing then keep its focus on the feather hairclip. While moving Zidane made sure to grab a stick and a decent size rock, what he planned on doing was either chucking the rock at the flan to further get its attention then throw the stick like a spear and make it react to his attack, making him the distraction so that Reuna could quickly grab the feather and he could lose the flan and circle back to meet up with Reuna at a different time.
The flan looked at Zidane with some interest but continued its path towards the feather, upon seeing this Zidane ran towards a tree and with a quick jump he pushed off the trunk of the tree towards the Flan and used the momentum to give his throw a bit more force than normal. The rock whizzed through the air and kind of just splattered into the Flan, it had angered the creature but it was hard to tell if it had done any damage. Continuing his path towards the flan Zidane instead of using the stick as a spear he stabbed the stick hard enough to stick into the ground and was able kind of pole vault his way over the flan. Rolling upon hitting the ground he smiled as he was next to the feather hairclip now, *Well I could grab it now and get the hell out of here or I could….No F that* Quickly grabbing the hairclip, Zidane tried to sprint away but to his dismay his foot broke through some animals hole. Tumbling to the ground his ankle was sprained and he could barely put pressure on it, if he gave it time and didn’t rush things it would be in tip top condition in about thirty minutes but he was in danger and they needed to get back soon.
Looking over to Reuna he acted before he even had time to think of a plan, Throwing the hairclip as hard as he could Zidane tossed it to Reuna and started to hobble off in the opposite direction knowing the Flan was behind him interested in the now injured prey that had attacked it earlier completely forgetting about the shiny object it had its sights on a minute ago. “You go back to the edge of the forest where we first met and I’ll meet you there,” Smiling his cocky smile he waved to Reuna and did his best to work his body into a run, hoping he could make it back.
Reuna’s speedy path forward was long overcome by Zidane’s agility, leading to Zidane getting there first. She watched anxiously as she got closer to Zidane, the flan, and her precious clip. Why did that flan take an interest in it? It was just a girl’s hairclip, a treasure to just one being. She was quickly getting exhausted though and only marginally closer when Zidane began assaulting the creature. She only sped up more, trying to cut the distance down. Her calves and lungs were burning, and she was becoming very agitated. Perhaps it was all her nerves, but the precious item was this close and… and…
Then Zidane slipped and fell. He seemed hurt pretty bad, and the flan was right… oh her hair clip. With the pace she was running at, it seemed to fall almost right in front of her, distracting her attention for a moment. She stopped running to pick it up. Immediately, a number of her anxieties began to fade down as she cradled it in her hands. With this, they could… oh wait. No, Zidane just hurt his leg, and the flan is… right there. That’s bad, right? If it catches him, it might maul him right? Can he get away like that? She doubted it.
Quickly, she securely clipped the feather in the back of her head and took a deep breath as she felt her body relaxing. Yes, all her nerves began to clear, and she didn’t feel nauseous anymore, though she didn’t quite understand why. Her muscles still burned from running the way she had, but all was well again. No, Zidane was in trouble. Despite his cocky reassuring smile, his words brought her back to earth, and the current situation.
“What? After all this that you did for me, and you’re asking me to run? I can’t just leave you behind.” She said that as she began running after him and the flan. She would just have to beat the flan, right? Weren’t they week against magic anyway? “We can go back together if I get rid of that flan, right?” Still running, she gathered up and concentrated a lot of magic as if within her hand. Curents of electricy ran through that hand without any given form. Then she paused threw her right hand forwards and yelled,
“Glistening blades, descend and take form! Halt my enemy’s movements. Strip away all concern. Dance madly!”
Lightning began to form around the flan as a bolt of lighting descended, pierced down through the forest, the spilt over and around it, forming a cage, as Reuna clenched her hand. The flan bumped into the front of that pyramid like cage pausing after receiving a small shock. However, it’s movements were sealed till the cage broke, which looked like it wouldn’t hold long. But, Reuna wasn’t done yet. No, rather, with it stuck in place, Reuna concentrated as much magic as she could around it and began releasing so many bolts of lightning at it, that the area simply darkened once as the first bolt was formed, then remained lit, as the individual bolts flashed down at it.
Every time Reuna waved and flicked her arm, another bolt fell. At first, there were three, but it seemed to not be harmed or bothered too much. It was quite a tough creature, wasn’t it? But that didn’t bother Reuna. She watched to see if Zidane was getting away or at least getting in a better position while she was attacking. After all, They had it in a pinscher position, and it was currently stuck. But, it couldn’t hold out too long, right? Or that what she thought. She’d just let loose 6 bolts, all of which struck it dead on, but it was still alive. Perhaps this would take longer than she thought? What’s more, she was beginning to fatigue from casting so many thunder spells in rapid succession. But she still had her distance from the flan, so it not like it would immediately turn and attack, right?
Zidane felt the air tingle with electricity and his hair began to rise because of the static being produced, looking back he saw Reuna speaking and doing some movements with her hands, *Thunder…Flan…Well that’s a shocking development* The first bolt smacked into the flan then more began their assault on the glob of jelly that is called a Flan, the creature didn’t seem all that bothered by the attack slowly but surely moving towards Zidane. One of the bolts hit close to where Zidane was standing it being attracted to him because of his Dagger that hung from his waist causing some “Slight” shocking, His hair stood up on end and his body tingled from the shock. Smiling he smoothed out his hair and pulled out his dagger coming up with a plan on how to get rid of this creature, that’s when he realized that his ankle didn’t hurt anymore. *What the?* The shock of the lightning numbed the pain of his ankle and even gave him a short of energy boost, grinning like a devil he hopped back and forth on the balls of his feet preparing for the right moment to dash in and strike.
The moment he saw a gap in the lighting strikes he dashed in, he appeared in a blur in front of the Flan jumping as high as he could without wasting any momentum he had gained he stabbed his dagger into the Flan’s head or the top of its body. Zidane released his grip on his dagger leaving it impaled in the Flan vaulting over the creature hitting the ground into a roll and began running towards Reuna. “HEY Send a bolt straight onto the dagger and finish this guy off so we can get back.” Giving the thumbs up as his signal that he was clear of the attack Zidane jumped off the trunk of a nearby tree and swung up onto a branch and turned to watch the fireworks.
She took in a breath of fresh air as she paused between her onslaught of thunder spells. She could feel that she was running low on mana at the moment, and with how Zidane had been limping, she wondered if he could continue to fight with the same agility he had earlier. That led to her surprise when she saw Zidane take flight from the opposite side of the flan. He stabbed something shiny like a dagger into the top of its body then landed on the other side of it. Immediately he ran towards her shouting.
Nodding her head, she replied, “Alright. Strip away the ground with glistening blades!” She pointed and immediately loosed a bolt of lightning directly at the dagger. Dazzling yellow lights danced at the spot as it lit and a strong shocking sound filled the air. This time, the flan swayed and thrashed about wildly for a few seconds. Smoke began to fill the air as it darkened a bit, a stifling, acrid, and it shrunk, drying up. The last remnants of it splattered a bit in steaming piles of goo, then it was gone.
Relieved, Reuna exhaled and slumped against a nearby tree as she tried to catch her breath and recuperate just a bit. After she had caught her breath, she said, “Zidane, are you alright? That was pretty smart, with the dagger. Can you move fine now?” If he said he was, she would smile and nod, before saying, “Thank you,” then turning to leave the forest.
Zidane jumped down to the forest floor stepping around some of the goop that was once the Flan, Smiling he looked over at Reuna. “Ya I’m all better.” Rubbing the back of his head he looked around for his dagger, finding it stuck in a nearby tree trunk from the contact of the lightning he pulled it free checking it over for any major damage. Besides some blackness it was in working shape, he tried rubbing as much of the grime off but some of it was permenantly etched into the blade now in the shape of a lightning bolt. *Well that looks cool.* Running over to Reuna he put his hands behind his hand as they headed to the forest edge he remembered the performance. “Hey we are still going right,” Looking at her smiling, “We still have time to make it to the performance.” Zidane’s face clearly showed excitement and was filled with energy with the thought of a new adventure about to take place.
Reuna watched as Zidane jumped out from a tree nearby, havig watched the light show to his heart’s content. Reuna on the other hand remained on the ground, slumped against a tree catching her breath. Once Zidane announced his stable condition, she sighed in relief and began heading towards the forest’s entrance. Soon enough though, Zidane caught up, and rather quickly. Once they were at the forest’s edge, he asked about attending the performance. Tilting her head upward, she said, “Well, of course, I haven’t forgotten.”
Lowering her head, she turned toward Zidane with her arms folded upon her chest. “Of course, you never did answer me when I asked what you’d and the other performers would be showing.” Not that she’d be familiar with the title. She still wasn’t too thrilled about going to such a large gathering, but Zidane would be there and he was rather nice. If anything, she planned to honor his request, but maybe it’d be fun as well.
“Oh, yes, I guess we should hurry. Come with me. It’ll probably be held in the quad. It’ll save us some time if we get there together. The gate keeper won’t hassle you as much. Do you need to change costume and such things behind stage?” As she was speaking, she was already running, quickly out of the forest and over the horizon towards Garden. If they were lucky, they were through with monsters for the day. When they reached the gate’s, Reuna quickly introduced Zidane as one of the troupe of performers who would be performing pretty soon, as well as a new friend of hers. Usually, there would be a long process of form filling and identity clarifying, but as she expected, it went a lot quicker, thus enabling them to proceed on smoothly.

Zidane smiled, “The act is called I Want to be your Canary.” They passed through security fairly easy thanks to Reuna being a student and her quick thinking, though honestly Zidane could have just snuck past the guards again after all that was how he got out the first time. “I really don’t need to change costumes expect for a part later in the act which at one point we will be picking one girl from the crowd to be the Heroine of the act.” Chuckling Zidane remembered the surprised looks that the random person usually wore when suddenly picked for this, “All and all it’s a good time there is an epic fight scene, but I guess we already had our fight scene.” Smiling he could see the stage from where they were and the members were moving around with some excitement, the crowd had filled in pretty well and they still had some time before it began.
Turning to Reuna, Zidane held out his hand and smiled, “Well Reuna my princess, Thanks for the fun and I hope you enjoy our play.” Shaking her hand he turned to leave waving behind him, “Oh I expect you to be right up front too.” Zidane went to the back of the stage and immediately wrapped his ankle and put ice on it to bring some of the swelling down that had occurred thanks to their fight earlier it wasn’t too bad and after a minute of rest he was ready to go. The actors rehearsed their lines and acts one last time and Zidane donned his traveling cloak for the beginning scene, with the music going off and the narrator setting the mood, the play began. Zidane made sure to look out to the crowd to check where Reuna was and thankfully she was right there in the front, after noting her spot he went through his part with ease and grace. Performing his acrobatic skills and acting ability to their fullest drawing some Ooh’s and aahh’s from the crowd with each move. Soon the scene where they would grab a spectator for the heroine was beginning, The fight scene went splendidly drawing the crowd into the play even more.
They made their way closer to where Reuna was at and thanks to their earlier discussion of who to pick the signal was given and with a flip and a twist Zidane was standing in front of Reuna, quickly moving after hours of practice he took a knee, “My princess it is time for us to go while the enemy is down and his brethren are far.” Sweeping Reuna off her feet literally Zidane jumped back onto the stage and made a dash to the exit only to be stopped by a group of “Soldiers” placing Reuna behind him he drew his weapon and a fight ensued. Zidane come out victorious and was clearly hurt. Leaning close to Reuna he whispered in her ear, “Ok Reuna now just go with the act there will be a final battle against your father where just before I am defeated you will stop him and he will realize his mistake and let us go ending the play so improvise.” Zidane smiled and the play continued.
Reuna listened expectantly as Zidane describe a bit of the play they would be performing. It sounded kind of exciting and interesting. “Ok then. I think I’ll enjoy. I’ll be center stage watching.” She smiled and nodded once, then watched Zidane proceed to where he was need. She herself wondered who would be picked from the crowd, but once the performance started, it quickly left her mind. The play, I Want To Be Your Canary, was not one that she had seen before, but it was convincing and interesting, drawing her attention between the drama and the fight scenes. Zidane then made his way towards Reuna’s position as the scene approached.
Gasps from the crowd could be heard as the cast task reached down a plucked from the crowd, none other than Reuna. It’s not that they were any more surprised to see her on stage as they would have been to see any other. Rather, it seemed none of them had been informed of this development before, except Reuna, who was still surprised to be up on the stage suddenly. A rose colored flush over took her cheeks as she was suddenly swept into Zidanes arms. Reflexively, she wrapped her arms around his neck to steady herself as if from falling.
Why the blush? Well, suddenly ending up wholeheartedly in someone’s arms… was a first for her, leaving her equally embarrassed and defenseless at the situation. She wanted to shout out, ‘What are you doing,’ but she knew it was part of the play. But why her? The moment didn’t last too long though, as soldiers suddenly stopped them, and she was put down. By that time, the blush had faded, but as Zidane continued the scene, she stood there, her expression naturally distraught between jumping in to help and standing by to root him on.
Of course, Zidane one, but the fight was choreographed well enough that she forgot the acting part and simply thought his fatigue was real. She rushed over to him, to hear his words, to which she nodded slightly, her face realistically dumb founded. She in fact appeared to be acting somewhat well, but was really simply swept up in the flow of the scene. She nodded for a second and paused, rising to her feet. Having watched the majority of the play, she thought she might be able to pull something together, but had no idea as to how it would go.
When her ‘father’ sought to deliver a final blow, Reuna would swiftly leap between him and Zidane, throwing both arms open dramatically.
“Stop father! War or not, would thou really sacrifice thou daughter for a title, a throne, a country?”
“Step out the way my foolish daughter. Thou art too young to understand the burdens of the crown and the peace of this country. I’m doing this for thou own good!”
“But this is the man I vow my life to father. How can his death be good for me?”
“In time thou’ll forget him. You’ll be a queen and grow to love the man I choose for thee.”
“I refuse. War or peace matters not. A country cannot thrive beneath a king with no heart, a tyrant that feels not. If I’m to be a sacrifice I would only hope it free me from the life of a marionette. If my love should die I shall follow his path to reunite.”
The dialogue would continue for another minute or to, not quite as well versed, as Reuna’s acting began to dry out. However, the scene finished up with the king having a change of heart, moved by his daughter’s conviction of heart, allowing Reuna and Zidane to exit behind stage. Since Zidane was supposed to be injured, Reuna reached down to help him up appropriately then support him off stage. She was so nervous she was shaking, but held it together till they were safely off stage. The curtain soon drew to a close, leaving them behind stage as the audience, her peers applauded and clapped. Immediately, she sunk down to her knees breathing in an exhausted manner. “That was awful!” she whined a bit, in whispered tones. “I was running out of things to say. I bet my acting was horrible. You’re amazing for keeping character Zidane. I don’t think I can show my face.” She was flustered and blushing a bit from embarrassment, but overall, it was fun and exhilarating.

Zidane smiled and turned to Reuna, “That was great for on the spot acting.” Putting his hands behind his hand he listened to the roar of the crowd, the very vibration of their cheers and happiness clearly affecting Zidane. “Catch your breath my princess, you will need it in a second.” Zidane headed back out to the stage where he and his crew took their bows after the formal applause was done. He walked to center stage and waited till the crowd settled a bit, “Good Evening Balamb Garden, How did you like the play?” A roar erupted from the crowd as they cheered their enthusiasm, smiling Zidane could hear the whistling from various girls and the hoots from the boys for their favorite actors. “Now now calm down everyone I would like to take a moment and Thank our special guest performer, who even without any warning or practice performed so beautifully that it touched everyone’s heart.” The crowd agreed with their cheers, “So what do you say everyone to Reuna coming back out here and taking a proper bow with the cast and myself.” Smiling the crowd was esstatic for Reuna’s return, “Well keep cheering and maybe just maybe it will call her back to the stage if anything I’ll go get her myself.” With a wink Zidane headed back stage where Reuna was at.
“Well my princess, they are calling for you.” Holding out his hand with a smile Zidane helped Reuna up. He could see that she was still hesitant in returning back in front of her peers, “Don’t worry I’m here just focus on me if you have to and hey if you ever get bored of here you could always “Sneak” aboard the ship when we leave at 2345 tonight.” With a mischievous smile Zidane literally swept Reuna off her feet once more completing the act of the Lover and the princess finally together, they walked onto stage and was greeted with cheers that vibrated the very air itself. Zidane placed Reuna down and held onto her had since she was still shaky. “Time to take your bow Princess.”
The play finished with Reuna catching her breath while the crowd applauded the rest of the acting crew. She did just as she was told to, and caught her breath for as long as she could. At least it was over. Soon she wouldn’t carry this weird combination of feelings. She was still shaking, but with a few breathing and calming techniques she’d been taught once, she was able to calm down and breath regularly. But for what exactly?
It wasn’t too long before the crowd was all riled up and cheering out her name with Zidane’s announcement. She had shifted her body around to face the direction, but had yet to come standing when Zidane reappeared. Even as she gave him her hand and helped herself up, she began protesting. “But… I mean… I don’t..” but her words fell short, as she couldn’t think what she really wanted. Did she want to hide? Regardless, she ended up responding with an “Ok,” just before being swept off her feet and into his arms again. So she was helpless again.
Her mind partially blanked as she became flustered and blushed wildly. When she was put upon her own feet in front of the crowd, she began to shake, but steadied herself after a moment and nodded to Zidane. “Alright then.” She took a bow with the rest of the stage, somehow managing not to fall, then retreated back stage once it was over. It surpised her to see her peers so excited, but it was nice. She mulled over Zidane’s words though. It seemed so much fun, she’d just made a new friend. But could she really leave Garden? And for how long?
Before leaving the area behind stage and heading to her dorm, she approached Zidane, “I’m not sure if I can take you up on your offer Zidane. It seems so fun, but this place is like my home. I’ve never really left its care.” She turned away and frowned a bit, but then turned back around soon afterwards though, as if having given it further though. “No, I’ll go, but only for a while. I wouldn’t really know what to do outside of Garden after a short time. Where will you be?”
She then left for her dorm and waited while things settled in and got quiet. Once it had, she checked and waited around for her roommate to fall asleep, then snuck out, dodging the garden staff that was on night watch. She somehow managed to evade them all and make it to Zidane’s performance troupe outside garden, but almost got caught by the gate keeper. Once she was there, she said, “Now what?” with her, she simply brought some clothes and gear. It would be an adventure she might not forget.
Zidane had spent the rest of the night cleaning up the stage and getting all the equipment back in place so that they could leave when it was time. He wasn’t sure if Reuna would return even if she said she would give it a shot, I mean after all there were plenty of SeeD security members around. He wore a dazed look on his face most of the time and even his cast members could tell he wasn’t there at the moment daydreaming probably about some girl he had seen while he was gone. They let him be since this was a usual thing that happened every time they went somewhere new to perform. Spending the last few minutes before the arranged time for Reuna to show up Zidane decided it was time for him to do his acrobatic training; this was a ritual for him to go through whenever he got the chance. Luckily the bars were still up from the stage and this is what Zidane used for his training, he took off in a dash and grabbed a bar swinging his body upward, letting go of the bar he flew upward above the stage. Completing the flip he grabbed another bar and swung in circles around it using his momentum to continue the rotations, letting go slowly he went sideways towards another bar grabbed another bar and hand over hand swung from the bars looking like a child at a playground. Using his tail he let go of the bars and grabbed a bar swinging himself onto the bar, Sitting on top of this bar he could see someone coming close looking around anxiously, Zidane smiled it had to be Reuna. “Finally.” Dropping down to the ground Zidane landed silently smiling he walked to Reuna, “So you made it Princess.”
Waving his hand towards the ship he led the way, “We will go on an adventure, probably about a week long and then we will return here.” Pointing out a room filled with two beds and various things, “This is our room, don’t worry though it is just because the others are full.” Putting his hands behind his hand he looked away, “We can always switch the people if you’re not ok with this set up.” Walking down the hall Zidane continued the tour, “This is the practice room for acting and training, and this is the kitchen, the common area, the Library.” At each he stopped and showed everything in the room making sure that Reuna would be able to find it with ease, he also took the time to introduce her to everyone. “Our trip will consist of various stops at different towns in the surrounding areas so at any time you want to leave earlier than a week we can come back and drop you off nearby the school.” Smiling Zidane got close to Reuna and gave her his most charming smile he could give, “I hope you enjoy your stay with us, I know I will.”
When Reuna arrived at the spot, she was met with Zidane. She wasn’t exactly sure why Zidane called her princess, but it was pleasant in a way, so she had no complaints. Tilting her head sideways, she said, “Mhm. It was hard sneaking past everyone though. I was sure I’d be caught.” With that said she followed Zidane onto his ship, which had apparently been waiting on her arrival. She glanced around the interior with wonder and awe. It was something she hadn’t been expecting. It wasn’t like Garden’s military set up or just like some ship. It looked more like a house of some sort, with a warm inviting set up. Interesting.
She listened and glanced about as Zidane gave her the tour of the place, which she was sure she’d still get lost in at some point. “A week huh? That’ll be fun.” If it was just a week, there might not be any problems. Once Zidane brought them to their room, she glanced about the interior and automatically became confused. She was the guest. Why would she mind the living quarters? She always had a roommate at Garden, albeit, another girl, but it should matter much, right? “Why would there be a problem sharing a room with you?” Her expression was completely clueless and innocent, as if the concept he was trying to make had never been explained to her… as it hadn’t.
She set all of her belongings onto one of the beds within the room before returning to Zidane's side. As the tour and introductions continued, she tried remembering every location and the faces and names of everyone she was introduced to. There were a lot of faces, most of which were friendly. “Ok. Does that mean I’ll be a regular part of the cast for a bit? This’ll be some much fun.” She smiled in response. It was getting late though, and she let out a yawn, covering her mouth politely. “Is there anything to do right now though? If not, it’s been a rather long day. I’m afraid I’m quite tired.”
Smiling Zidane at Reuna, “I believe that’s all for today there is some food down in the kitchen if you get hungry.” Making sure he wasn’t forgetting anything, “Yes you will be part of the cast while you’re here.” Pointing to the door across the room, “That’s the bathroom and if you need anything do be afraid to wake me up.” Walking out of the room Zidane went down to the training room, he felt a bit sluggish with his acrobatics and movements. Setting up a nice course of movement that would test his ability and reaction speed Zidane stretched and made sure to be relaxed. Starting off on a walk then moving into a slow jog he came up to the first obstacle which he performed a speed vault over carrying his momentum with him, Zidane picked up his pace hitting the wall with plenty of speed for a wall run. Grabbing the top edge of the wall he pulled himself up with just enough room for his feet to be planted he positioned himself to jump to the bar and monkey bar across the next obstacle, on the last bar he kept his momentum and swung in a circle picking up more and more speed then he let go curling tight into a ball spinning like a blur there was one last obstacle and that was a bar about six feet off the ground which the goal was to grab it with his tail and launch himself forward into a flying dash.
The bar grew closer and Zidane was relying on his instinct and flung his tail out feeling contact with the bar wrapping it around the bar he squeezed and felt his body move forward quickly releasing the bar he flew forward in a running position making it look like he was dashing through the air. His feet touched the ground and he started to run keeping his balance and luckily didn’t eat the ground. Smiling Zidane slowed himself down making sure to do some cool down exercises and started heading his way back to his room.
