Personality:
Unlike his peers, there wasn't a happy influence to his personality that has shaped him into what he is now. Quiet, cautious, and mistrustful of others are just some of the few words that can describe him around strangers. He is quite protective if his well-being, especially over things that he earned by himself through his own determination. His inherent distrust of all strangers makes it somewhat awkward to start a conversation with him, since he communicates primarily through non-verbal means. Only when a response requires vocalization will he speak, even then his words are limited to short phrases that are straight to the point. The combination of his strange heritage, the lack of any parents, and the shunning of his peers has made him wary of strangers.
Despite these reservations he is generally polite and respectful to those he meets. However this nature is only put up with the idea that a good impression will lead to less conflict. He often forces a friendly smile, if only to preserve his own life in an attempt to prevent any negativity on himself. Aster takes everything he hears with a grain of salt, meaning he is highly skeptical of others and of what they say. He believes that there is always some ulterior motive that someone has when they attempt to befriend him. Due to this ideology he doesn't go out seeking the attention or casual conversations from others. It's hard for others to get him to open up, even the most patient man will find some form of aggravation in getting him to at least cooperate. However a threat goes a long way if it's against his life and usually Aster can be "persuaded" into helping should someone use his life as a trump card.
He treats strangers with indifference, but when it comes to the very few friends he has his personality can be somewhat different. Although he's still prone to body language for communication, Aster is more likely to talk with others in complete sentences rather then one worded answers. He's rather talkative in his own definition to those he trusts, going as far to approach them instead to initiate an idle chat. Those that get to know him will find the white mage to have quite the keen eye, he's capable of noticing the smaller details that would go unnoticed in most situations. This eye for detail makes him a fast learner, the Cetra is capable of soaking up information and memorizing it in great detail. Irregardless of whether someone is friend or not, his emotions and expressions are like an open book. It's easy to tell what he's feeling or wants to say, unless that particular person is a complete dunce at doing so.
Aster can't stand loud concentrations of sound or overly exuberant crowds of people. His Cetran nature makes him more imposed to hearing the natural voices of the planet rather then the artificial sounds of city life. As such he is slightly uncomfortable in large towns and cities, and instead prefers the peace and solitude of the wilderness. The white mage doesn't stay in settlements for too long, unless he is given a reason other wise. Whether it's for his own well-being or something else, Aster tries to follow the social laws in whatever location he's in. On the other hand he is just as prone to break it if it furthers his own agenda or raises the chances of living another day. In the end the mage's jaded beginnings and overall shunning of his odd-heritage has made him the black sheep of society. To strangers he is the quiet unassuming boy that mistrusts others, but to the few people who befriend him he is a loyal man and able ally.
Appearance:
At a glance Aster comes across as a typical and frail looking mage. He doesn't hold the appearance of a refined warrior, instead he bears the phenotype of a focused spell caster. Standing at a short height of five feet and two inches, the Cetra is hardly imposing and can be seen as an insignificant person when compared to other males that are more physically adept. He sports a head of light yet spiky maroon red hair that is complimented with a barely noticeable gold edge to it. His eyes are of a jade green color which often depict a sense of caution and wariness to the mage's environment. Aster sports a lean and dextrous frame which gives him a good reflex in combat situations. He's a fairly light skinned and pale boy, a further sign of his heritage.
For traveling and clothing Aster dons a modernized version of the typical white mage attire. Instead of wearing a traditional robe, his white mage attire is suited more for traveling and quick getaways. The cloth itself is layered and several pieces of his attire can be removed. Underneath the white robe vestments is a simple long sleeve black silk shirt and pants. There is a thin layer of gold cloth lining the edges of his underclothes, and usually he only takes off his vestments when resting. For traveling he wears a pair of red boots that is in line with his modernized version of the white mage appearance.

History:
Aster never knew much about his parents, other then the fact that before he was born they were on the run from the organization known as ShinRa. Being members of an almost extinct race, his parents were hunted by the company who desired to use them for experimental purposes. Their pursuit of the Cetra would find Aster's parents in an interesting situation where they'd have to choose between their own lives and their unborn child. Having found a temporary refuge in the homeland continent in the town of Mysidia, Aster's mother managed to safely deliver him into the world at a local clinic. The boy didn't get to spend much time with his birth parents, and after only a day of being with them he was released to the orphanage in order to protect his identity from the large corporation. From there it is assumed that his parents turned themselves into the company to prevent them from getting Aster, though to this day their fate is unknown.
His early days in the orphanage was one of isolation and shunning. Aster was always considered the black sheep of the rest of the kids, for the caretakers and matron found the boy to be far too strange for a normal human. He would talk about illogical subjects that disturbed his caretakers, he said that he could hear voices speaking to him about the planet. None of them believed the boy and instead labeled his strange cognitive abilities as a form of mental dementia and illness. The scorning of his caretakers and the hazing by his peers molded the Cetran's trust abilities into what it is today. For whenever someone would befriend him, they would only betray him later on to capitalize on his weak psyche to improve their own popularity.
Even with all the torments he faced in the orphanage, Aster was a very resilient boy who dealt with his stress by busying his mind. When the mandatory studies in school were over, he would head over to the Mysidia town library to further his own knowledge. He became enthralled by the prospect of white magic when he met a young man known as Belial Vessalius, a traveling healer and practitioner in white magic. Initially trustful of the man, their common encounters in the library slowly began to form a brotherly bond that soon became inseparable. Aster viewed him as a brotherly figure, but after only two years of studying and learning magic from him Belial surprised him by becoming his official guardian.
What was once known as Aster the Boy with no name ceased to exist, he was officially known as Aster Vessalius after the papers were signed. The Cetra eventually moved in with brother figure to continue his studies, but with the help of Belial he managed to obtain a scholarship into the Mysidia Academy of Magial Studies. Needless to say the Cetra's heritage and gift for magic allowed him to speed through his courses quickly, allowing the boy to graduate at an early age of fifteen. He was officially declared a White Mage by his guardian, who then offered to bring Aster with him in many medical missions across Gaia. This offer wouldn't last long and a few days after he accepted Aster's unfortunate past caught up with him.
ShinRa had discovered news about the birth of Ophelia's son, and with their resources had secretly been monitoring on the Cetra's status. By the time he was about to leave the continent the pair of mages were intercepted by the TURKS. Through a display of power and daring, Belial managed to assure Aster's safety and passage from the continent at the cost of his life. This event permanently scarred the Cetra and further evolved his mistrust of others. Since that day Aster has continued Belial's line of work, approaching remote locations and other villages to offer his medical services like it or not.

"Something certainly smells good in here." A baritone-tenor voice echoed out into the kitchen as the sound of boots stepping against the tiled floor brought a boy's attention to the door. Standing near the entrance to the house stood a man with short blond hair and a toothy grin, this man was known to him as Belial Vessalius. A small smile tugged at the corner of Aster's lips as he leaned on the counter, a hand idly waving and beckoning the guardian to come forward. The sage unzipped his robes and hanged it on a coat hanger, his stomach growling at the same time as the aroma of freshly baked pastries entered his nostrils. "Welcome back brother." Aster stated happily, eliciting a soft chuckle from the taller male. He watched as the young man circled around the counter to stare a tray that sat on top of an airing rack.
"Scones? And I see strawberry, pomegrante... and starfruit versions?" Belial blinked in surprised as he reached over for the strange scone, which had pieces of carambola imbedded in the freshly baked pastry. "Sale." Aster stated once and nodded as if waiting for his brother to take a bite. Belial gazed at the new scone with some hesitation before taking a small bite. Inwardly the Cetra crossed his fingers, watching the emotion flicker across the sage's face as it twisted into pure bliss. One small bite became a larger bite, and soon enough the scone was being devoured by large chunks. "It's a strange fruit! Kinda tastes like apples and pears with some kind of citrus addition! Thanks it's good there buddy!" Belial reached over unknowingly with crumb layered hands and gave the Cetra an affectionate ruffle of his hair.
Aster blanched and pulled back, his mouth forming into a disapproving frown as he felt bits of crumbs between his hair strands. He pouted at his guardian who was quiet and focusing on him. There was an awkward silence before Belial suddenly began letting out a hearty laugh. The positive atmosphere made the Cetra drop his frown and soon enough they were both laughing and talking idly about random subjects. After their bantering they sat down on opposite ends of a nearby kitchen table, sated with their fill from Aster's baking. The boy's green eyes watched as Belial's face dropped, his face stoic and neutral as he let out a heavy sigh. "I talked to the matrons at your orphanage... they want to reconcile with you." The idea made the twelve year old fidget his fingers uncomfortably underneath the table cloth.
"It's been two years since I've adopted you Aster, so why don't we try--" He began at first, his tone careful and friendly before he felt a loud slam on the table top. Aster was biting his lip, his eyes livid as he shook his head vehemently before taking off from the kitchen and the table to run into his room. He slammed the door and locked it, while his guardian on outside grunted and sighed in exasperation.
It was going to be a -long- time before Aster considered reconcilement the sage thought, while he stood up from his chair to follow the Cetra to his room in an attempt to later pacify him.
