Appearance:
Deon is a strong and well-built man, standing at 6'1, with dirty blonde hair, a patch of a goatee on his chin, and light brown eyes. He is usually dressed functionally for combat, and nearly always dons his dark overcoat.
Alignment:
Lawful Neutral
Profession:
Corporal, Gestahlian Empire
Personality:
As a man, Deon is a friendly, welcoming, and accommodating person. He strives to extend courtesy and friendship to others, and is generally very approachable -- a trait not often found among the commanding ranks of the ruthless Gestahlian Empire. He values strong, close friendship and family ties, and is always happy to foster new relationships, even with people he hasn’t known for long. He demonstrates a fierce loyalty to friends and family, and has a strong protective streak; more than one person has ended up with a bloodied nose for crossing a good friend of Deon’s.
As a soldier, he is dedicated, loyal, and follows his orders with precision, always striving to be the consummate “good soldier.” He has a strong affinity toward order, and values a rigid, efficient, hierarchical power structure -- something he easily finds within the Empire. Believing wholeheartedly that people need strong rulership in order to thrive, he stops at nothing to fulfill his duties as a soldier of the Imperial Army. Whether the Empire needs him to protect a vital ally or crush an enemy, big or small, he follows through on his orders with precision and skill ,never hesitating to kill in the name of duty. He likewise holds a great deal of respect for others who display strength and a sense of duty, and will often find himself holding a degree of respect for his adversaries.
As an officer, Deon has a certain paternalistic instinct toward his men. While he is a strong and commanding personality, demanding obedience and respect, he remains warm with his soldiers, valuing their lives and showing genuine interest in their backgrounds, lives, and personalities. Because of his personal investment in his soldiers, Deon is often highly protective of them, and will never needlessly endanger their lives, preferring to keep his men alive and healthy. He takes the deaths of his comrades and his subordinates personally, and the loss of his men often takes a heavy toll on his heart.

HISTORY:
Although Deon is a subject and soldier of the Gestahlian Empire, he didn’t begin his life that way. As a young man, Deon was raised in a small independent town, part of a loose coalition of local communities that were more or less self-governed, enjoying a good deal of independence and autonomy. He was very close with his parents and siblings, and the entire community was very close-knit. Deon learned the value of strong friendships at an early age, a value that he has carried with him throughout his life.
When Gestahl’s Empire began its rise to power, Deon’s home was one of the first places to be swallowed up by Vector’s military expansion. Some of the local men banded into a rag-tag militia and battled the Empire, but they were quickly decimated by the trained, experienced, professional army of the Empire in a short battle that would have been better described as a slaugther.
Rather than feel a sense of bitterness, Deon embraced the rulership of the Empire. Yes, the rule of Vector was oppressive, militaristic, and expansionist, but it was also secure. Deon’s home was safe from aggression -- anyone daring to invade Imperial territory would be met with the might of Gestahl’s finest to guard his lands. Connected to the larger Empire, the once small and relatively insignificant community now had ties to a greater political, economic, and military body, and Deon felt it was very much better off for it. The Empire, for Deon, was a source of stability, prosperity, and protection; and he determined that that was something worth fighting to protect.
A talented fighter with impressive physicality, Deon’s talent allowed him to rise out of the rank-and-file Imperial Army Divisions. As his ability was recognized, he received specialized training, building his physical conditioning and becoming proficient with single-edged swords, mastering a defensive, but not passive, fighting style that emphasized skill and survivability. Proving himself on the battlefield and in the command bunker, Deon was eventually promoted to Corporal, serving as a lower-mid-level officer, commanding Imperial troops at the squad level and taking on specialized assignments deemed too dangerous or challenging for the faceless legions.
Roleplay Sample:
Deon grunted as he thrust his sword forward, the blade piercing through the skin of his adversary. The man’s weapon fell from his hands his body lurched, and as Deon removed his blade, the corpse tumbled to the ground in front of him. As his eyes scanned the field, he saw that his men were finishing the last few of their enemies; the rebel counterattack had been short-lived, and easily thwarted. He let out a quiet sigh, reaching into the pocket of his overcoat and pulling out a white cloth. He delicately ran the cloth along the length of the blade, wiping away the blood from his weapon, marking the end of a well-fought battle.
As he turned away from the field, he saw the nondescript country home that the rebels had been trying to retake. It seemed innocuous enough, sitting calmly in the middle of a scenic field, but for the past several months it had been a hidden base of operations for a group of anti-Imperial rebels, hoping to resist the empire and seek support from the Yevon Maesters. Folding his blood-stained cloth and pocketing it again, he climbed the stairs of the front deck, stopping to look down at one of his soldiers sitting leaned against the side of the house. A bandage, soaked in drying blood, was wrapped around his shoulder as the man rested against the house.
“Take care of that wound, Raniero,” he said, his voice stern as a commander’s but with a hint of concern, “Your brother’s counting on you coming back to Vector alive.”
The soldier nodded, offering a weak smile before a wince of pain seized his attention.
Turning away from the man, Deon entered the house through what was left of its front door, and descended a staircase into the basement. A single Imperial soldier stood at the door, and as he entered the basement, four more soldiers stood guard around a single man, who sat kneeling in the middle of the stone floor, arms bound behind his back, face covered in blood from the previous battle.
“Your reinforcements are dead,” he said flatly, walking directly to the man and standing over him, hands tucking into the pockets of his pants.
“You must be so proud, slaughtering farmers and teachers,” the prisoner spat back, a defiant, icy glare locking on Deon’s eyes.
“Of course,” answered Deon, looking up and away for a moment, “Some of them were probably your co-workers, weren’t they? I imagine you have good reason to be enraged... You’re probably desperately thinking of a way to get loose just long enough to kill me, even if it means your life. Am I right?”
The man remained silent, shifting slightly on his knees.
Deon looked back to his prisoner, lowering into a crouch to meet him eye-to-eye.
“Listen to me,” he continued, “Your fight is over. You took up your arms and fought us, but that’s done. The Maesters aren’t interested in your tiny uprising, and you don’t have the manpower to oppose us anymore. What do you think you’re going to gain by keeping this up?”
“Freedom,” was the man’s one-word answer.
It was an admirable enough instinct, Deon thought. He held a principle, and he was willing to put his life on the line to pick up a sword and protect it. In that respect, he wasn’t much different from Deon. The Empire was the governing force that gave him his job, his security, and his well-being, and he was here doing his own part to protect that.
“I respect that answer,” Deon said sincerely, “You obviously mean what you say... But freedom for what? This is a hole-in-the-wall little village, not too different from how mine used to be. You’ve got nothing out here. A small town, a tiny community, a few guys willing to start a dinky litlte militia that can’t fight off anything bigger than a few wild animals... You’re ripe for the picking out here.
“But you’ve seen what the Imperial Army can do, right? Instead of tracking you down and killing you, we could be protecting you. Guaranteeing that you’d have Imperial troops watching over you, making sure that you and your loved ones are safe.”
The man shook his head, lowering his gaze.
“You don’t get it... We might be week, but we’re free. We don’t need an Emperor running our lives from hundreds of miles away, and we don’t need an army trampling our lives in the name of ‘order’ and ‘protection.’ We just want a simple life out here with our families... Can’t you understand that?”
The expression in Deon’s eyes saddened somewhat. Clearly, his message wasn’t getting through to the rebel leader, and it probably wasn’t going to.
“I’m sorry you don’t understand,” he said, the softness in his voice speaking of a real sense of concern, “I’m not a tyrant, you have to understand that. But I’m a soldier fighting for the Empire that protects me, feeds my family, and looks out for everything that’s important to me. It can do the same for you, but I get the feeling you’re not interested... Unfortunately, to maintain order, sometimes you have to squash the opposition. You’re a good man -- you would have made a good ally.”
Without another word, Deon lifted the sword from its sheath, and in a single strong, clean swipe, brought the weapon down on the prisoner’s neck, carving deep into his throat. His body fell to the side from the force of the blow, and within a fraction of a moment, the leader of the small, short-lived rebellion was dead.
There was a sincere look of disappointment in Deon’s eyes, but he showed no remorse. Once again, he calmly cleaned his blade and pushed it back into his sheath, turning to the soldiers as he left through the basement door.
“Burn the building to the ground, and then the town after it. Take anyone who surrenders alive. The rest... Kill them.” [/style] |

So you want a CA that allows you to counter attack whenever you block?
If so then you'd be looking at an ability that is something like this.
Retaliation [passive] Whenever Deon successfully blocks an physical attack [takes no damage from the attack when blocking] Deon counter attacks hitting the opponent that failed to harm him normal attack damage for the cost of 30MP. If Deon is out of MP this fails and he can only make 1 counter attack per block.
Or you could do something like this.
Retaliation [passive] Whenever Deon successfully blocks an physical attack [takes no damage from the attack when blocking] made by an opponent he can at the start of his next turn and only with his first attack make a basic attack that deals an extra 50 points of damage.
Just so you are aware, when you block you use up all of your actions for that round, so with either of these you'd be losing two potential attack opportunities for either an extra 50 damage or a free attack at normal damage.

Just so we are clear, you can only counter once per block. The MP limitation is a seperate issue. If that is so then well the Bio looks okay to me
