Since leaving Deling City, and his encounter with the Sorceress Blue, Ryun had pretty much been wandering aimlessly. He had not idea where he was going or what he was going to do, however, something had been calling him. The call was not that of a voice, but a need to go the way he was going. He had been walking through fields, hilly areas and valleys for five days, only stopping to rest when he really needed to.
On the fifth night he had stopped and looked as the need to walk had, like him, stopped. He was standing in front of a large forest. He looked at a map he had obtained before leaving Deling City, and he realised he was in the middle of nowhere, and it seemed the only thing around, other than the forest, was a place called a Garden. He sighed as he stood there looking at the forest. He did not know why, but, he knew the need would come back if he did not enter.
Taking a deep breath he stood there for a moment or two more before walking in. When he had passed the threshold of the forest a wave of something strange it him, the feeling was like when he used his strength in battle. He took a couple of steps further in before stopping. He looked around, his jet black eyes peering through the trees and leaves. He closed his hands, balling them up into fists, the knuckles cracking as he did this. Standing there for a little bit more he finally decided to go in further.

As Ryun would pause from his journey into the forest, his fists having clenched tightly, a soft warm wind would cut through the forest around Ryun. A Low Rumble growl would fill the air from the tree's around him before what would look like a Small bird came to land a few feet in front of him upon the path he'd been taking.
What are you doing out here mister? Dangerous things are all around yaknow?
The critter had a childlike voice as it spoke, cocking it's head to the side somewhat and looking at him.
Are ya here for strength? Are ya here for something else? did you drop a golden axe nearby?
What was the little birdlike creature talking about now, anyone could guess really but surely something big was about to happen to Ryun as he stood their clenched fists and all.
As Ryun continued through the forest he began to wonder why he was there. He had no real interest in the location; however, something willed him to come. He had been walking near the forest when something called to him, and, in return, he followed that need into the forest.
Walking through he suddenly felt a warm wind running through the trees, almost making them roar. The wind covered and caressed his skin, however, there was something about it that made his blood run cold. He kept his eyes open, just in case he had to fight, someone... or something.
Sudden a small bird appeared in front of him and, Ryun stopped. He looked at the bird, his black piercing eyes staring into the bird itself. Suddenly the bird spoke in a child like voice, which, even though it did not show on his face, surprised Ryun quite a bit. However, despite his surprise, Ryun being Ryun he kept a calm and collected nature.
When the questions came he did not speak for a moment or two. He had to admit, they were good question, except for the thing about the golden axe, he was unsure what that was about. He remained silent gathering his thoughts so he could answer the bird’s questions. After a moment or two he finally spoke, “Something… called me here.”

Tilting it's small head a little, it would hop forwards some, moving towards Ryun.
Something... called you here mister? was it the tree's? or maybe this Golden Axe?
It was a test in it's self when the little critter produced seemingly out of nowhere a golden Axe and let it lay on the ground in front of it's self. Was it something he should take and say was his or was it not, at the time the warm breeze cut through the tree's softly still. The sound of other animals still filled the air somewhat from within the distance, the smaller of which tilted it's small head watching him. Shifting about on tiny feet and judging his reaction.
You entered the forest without really knowing why huh mister.. what do you hope to gain from comming here?
It hopped back a little then around, scritching at the ground at times but keeping an eye on him. No Bigger then the palm of Ryun's hand as it kicked up little bits of dust, watching them settled and eyeing the axe that had been produced. Changing it just before he'd answer though, it would hop over just next to the golden axe. it would vanish with a slight puff as a silver one was replacing the last.
Ryun watched as the bird continued to talk and ask him if it was the golden axe that called him. He did not show any sign of emotion, which, was not that strange, if the person knew Ryun. However, when the bird asked what he had come to the forest for he had to admit, he did not know. He thought about the question for a while, again, it did not show on his face. However, when the bird asked if it was the silver axe he had materialised, he found it strange.
He did not know why, but, the fact was, despite the fact the axes were beautiful works his instincts told him to not take them. He looked at the axes for a while more before looking at the bird again, the same monotone expression on his face. After a while he finally spoke, “I am not sure why I came here, maybe, to learn what is calling me to such a place. The axes, they are beautiful, and my hand does seem empty, but, neither the gold or the silver one is mine.”

Good answer Mister! How could you have lost what you didn't have, but how could you get what you truly need hrmm?
The small bird like creature changed a bit, growing to be roughly the size of a cat, with a cat like body and wings. A Long tail with a small trail of smoke rolling off it but dissipating quickly now. It Had a beak like a bird and little rounded cat like ears.
Say Mister Since your in the forest... is their something in particular that's on your mind? Do you have someone you love and want to Protect.. or someone you want to Kill ?
The creature padded around, running in a circle around Ryun's feet and pausing to look up at him before jumping and flapping it's wings, testing them out some what before falling to the ground again with slight thump.
ow...
awing at it's face a bit it would start walking as Ryun would think and answer.
Follow me Mister!
It was now moving deeper into the forest, following a thinner path then what Ryun had been following before he met the small thing.
Ryun stood there watching the creature change. He had to admin, even though it did not show on his face, he was a little startled. However, Ryun being Ryun kept a calm and even approach to the situation, he knew, just because the bird like being was strange in appearance did not make it a bad thing, he had not tried to harm him in any way.
Then the bird asked him if he loved or hated someone and he thought on the matter, as he started to follow it. As he walked on he noticed the path getting narrower, but that did not bother him. As he walked on behind the creature he finally spoke, “I do not have enough of my memories to know if I hate someone, but, if there is someone I wish to protect, I’m certain of that, even though I’m not sure who. I know my strength was meant as a shield not a sword.”
It was true, the reason why he had walked about almost aimlessly since he washed up on the shores of Galbadia was because he felt that he was not meant to be along, like there was supposed to be someone by his side, a person he cared for dearly and wished to protect even if it cost him his life. He did not know why he felt like that, maybe he was a bodyguard or guardian to someone before he lost his memory, all he knew was, he was not meant to be alone.

Oh My Oh My... You wish to be the defense of someone else.. but know not who...
The little griffin would try it's wings out again every so often as they moved along, the path eventually starting to curve and swerve around through the forest some what but they were on a slope heading down it would seem.
Whats yer name Mister..?
The little critter had through enough to question that much as a series of large crunches were heard in he nearby distance, not really in the direction they were heading themselves. But still something large was roaming nearby it seemed.
Ohh.. a dragon is nearby.. we should avoid it...
The small child like voice flitted away, small wings flapping as it cut through the air to land on Ryun's Shoulder. It's long tail swaying back and forth as it peered off to their left, keeping an eye in the direction the sounds were coming from.
I don't think.. you'd wanna test yourself against a beasty like that..
To confirm what he had said Ryun simply nodded. It was true, he wished to protect, and believed, his strength was there to protect others and keep them safe. He did not fight for his own sake, in fact, he was not a massive fan of fighting, but, he would fight, if it meant keeping someone or something safe. However, when the bird creature spoke again Ryun was brought out of his thoughts to hear it ask for his name, “Ryun Craften.”
As they continued weaving his way through the turns that had started, and moving down the slope they had just reached he stopped for a second or two, hearing loud noises. He listened carefully, and, when the bird thing spoke he understood. However, the creature’s advice not to go looking for it was not taken under advisement. Ryun was strong, no two ways about that, but, he was not thinking about looking for the dragon to sate his own pride.
He was thinking along the lines of, if someone else came to this place and stumbled across the thing, they could be someone who could not fight and therefore would probably get killed. Ryun was strong, he could fight, and he wished to protect, it was these things that made he decide to go looking for the dragon. He hoped only one thing, that looking for the beast was not a mistake, and if it was, it would be one he could walk away from. So, standing there, “Take me to the dragon, please little one.”

The small creature flitted off his shoulder, swiping it's paw int he air a it scooted around and in front of him. It's small but long tail swaying as the small trail of smoke followed it.
but.. Mr, Ryun.. Its a Dragon.. I can't let you go there.. we must push on wards if your to find what you need here..
It's voice was more scared then anything now, it had reason to be though. Dragons were well known for being extremely hard to take down, the small griffin flitted around still, at one point flying into Ryun's Chest and pushing against him with it's tiny fore paws. Attempting to get him to keep following the path, the sound of movement from the larger creature seeming to fall silent though as they had been standing there.
oh no....
It was only moments later when a loud roar would echo through and over the trees, a blast of hot steam filtering out through the forest to dampen Ryun's clothing.
This isn't good...not good at all Mr, Ryun...
The small griffin was on the ground now, unable to fly with it's wings weighted down by the thicker water in the air. It would start to run down the path in the direction they had been going.
Mr,Ryun! Follow me!! Please!!
Little did the little Griffin realize though that soon enough the ground was shaking as the Dragon barreled through the tree's following it's childlike voice.
Ryun stood there silently listening to both the sounds of the dragon, that was clearly getting closer, and the little bird like creature talking to him. He knew the creature was scared, he could hear it in its voice, he would be stupid not to be scared, even Ryun was a little bit about the idea of facing off against a dragon.
Then the creature tried to push on Ryun’s chest, which was bigger than the entirety of the creature. He looked down for a moment or two before he heard something, and then soon felt something. Steam had come and, thanks to the water in the steam, his clothes were drenched, and his growing his was flattened to his face, which, using one hand brushed backwards.
When the bird like creature start to walk away, Ryun assuming he could not fly because of the moisture in the air, he sighed, and had decided to go with it. However, as he was about to make his first step he saw the dragon, and it saw the bird like creature. Without a second thought or a need to realise what the dragon was after he barrelled down and straight for the dragon smashing into it was a should bardge.

Even as the little critter turned to take off running, the Dragon following the noise it was making when it crashed through the trees just barely ahead of Ryun, Huffing out a hot stream of Steam to the air again. He saw the small critter barely even able to be considered as a Snack to such a beast. It's thoughts were the very very bite sized snack it could have of the animal when that thought process was broken.
Ryun slamming into the beast and sending it rolling a bit, completely caught off by the hit it would thrash around. Taking out more tree's and the like before righting it' self to look in the direction it had been hit, Letting out a roar at the man that was standing before it, a larger male but still not bigger then the Dragon it's self.
Another Roar filling the air as the Dragon Bared it's teeth ad Ryun, the small Critter looking on panting and drenched. It would Call out to Ryun again.
Mr! Please dont, you must run.. your life is in Danger Mister!!!
The voice of the small critter drew the attention of the dragon again, it turning to go after the smaller snack in it's case as it saw less trouble to arise from trying to snatch it up. As it would turn, it's tail swiping around through the air would connect with Ryun's Body. Enough force to send him flying for a few hundred feet if he didn't brace correctly for the impact.
As the dragon bared its teeth Ryun stood there, the monotonic expression not show any expression let alone fear. He clenched his fists and readied himself for a fight. He did not wish to fight, but, something, in his gut, told him, he had to. Ryun, despite his unnatural size and strength did not like to fight unless he was protecting someone. However, he knew, there was more to protect in the fight he was in than meets the eye.
When the small strange creature called out for Ryun to run he briefly looked at it and shook his head. With that the tail came and as it looked like it was about to smash into him Ryun took a stance which was roughly sideward with his legs bent at the knees and should width apart. As the tail connected with his body he let out a grunt as he was pushed back slightly. As he was being pushed back by the tail he grabbed hold of it.
Grabbing hold of the tail a rare thing happened, Ryun began to speak, more than a few words, “I will not run little one. I feel, in my very being, that, if I do not defeat this creature, harm will come to people who will come after me into these woods. I do not fight to prove I’m strong, I fight so though who are not strong do not have to.” With that he twisted his body still grabbing hold of the dragon’s tail and aimed to through it over his shoulder and into the ground.
Post by delfisweetwater on Jan 28, 2013 2:53:03 GMT
The Dragon feeling the grip on it's tail tugged some, roaring out and turning to Ryun. Opening it's muzzle as it inhaled, about to blast out a super heated stream of steam. The little griffin like critter hearing Ryun's words but seeing the dragon on the verge of melting flesh from bone turned and ran back. Flapping it's little wings as hard as it could, taking off from the ground it leaps flapping at the maw of the dragon. Flying through the air, as it's small body shot into the mouth of the dragon right before it could blow outwards. Digging tiny claws into the dangly uvula at the back of the dragons muzzle and into the flesh of it's throat. Instantly the dragons jaws closing as it gagged, shaking it's head and beginning to roll and thrash around. It didn't say anything but was int he same position of attempting to help Save Ryun as it was holding on as best as it's tiny form could.
Ryun looked at the dragon as saw it opening its maw, and felt that this may be the end for him. However, he would not go down that easily. He prepared himself for what he was about to do next, but the next thing that had happened surprised him so much it was actually visible on his face. When the little creature flew into the dragons mouth making the fire breather close his maw he inwardly thanked it.
However, as he watched, he felt, he knew, he would have to do something and soon, if not the little creature would not survive its heroic act. Without even thinking he let go of the dragon’s tale and jumped onto the creature’s body and rushed up it. The speed and agility Ryun was showing was a surprising amount for a guy his size. When he reached the dragon’s head he wrapped one arm under its neck hooking his hand on the lower jaw.
As he gripped hold of the dragons jaw whilst wrapping his arm around its throat he placed his other free hand on the side of its face. As he clung on his muscles, somehow seemed to grow and grow, so much so his already freakishly large frame doubled in size. The focus on his face soon let out a roar like battle cry and he gave a massive jerk like motions with his hands. What he was attempting to do was actually snap the larger creature’s neck.

Thrashing, flailing around grunting and trying to roar or get a breath as Ryun climbed onto the beast. All the trashing around as Ryun climbed onto the back of the dragon and took hold of it's head, hooking his arm around it's neck and the pull. The Dragon tried to thrash more, claws raking and throwing dirt up and all around. Tree's splintering or being destroyed all together, inside of it's muzzle the tiny griffin was lodged loose, trying to grip or claw as the muscles around it squeezed and started pulling it down the beasts throat.
Mister!! Run.. please Run Mister!!! be Safe!!!!
It continued to cry out it's voice barely audible as halfway down the dragons throat a loud crack filled the air, the dragons body stiffening before falling completely limp save for a twitch along it's body. The small griffin was stuck just at the ring of muscle before the dragons stomach, unable to move and engulfed in darkness and moist stench that covered it's tiny body. Even still as it was getting less and less oxygen crying out for Ryun to run and get away. It's tiny voice was growing more ragged as it inhaled in ragged breaths.
As the dragon went limp in his arms he let go after a few seconds. He could still hear the little creature telling him to run, but, at the sudden realisation of where it was he quickly thought of a plan to get him out of the dragon, before it was too late. He did not know why, but, over the short time he had spent with the little creature he had come to care about it.
Finally thinking of an idea he walked up to the head of the dragon. With one of his hands he gripped the dragon’s neck until he had the grip so firm his hand was closed around it. With his hand clutching the dragon’s neck his other hand took the base of the skull, just under the jaw in a way that his fingers began to dig in.
Once he had gotten his grips right he started to grunt and pull, his hands moving in opposite directions, the hand on the neck down whilst the one on the head up. He let out a massive roar as he pulled and pulled until, he ripped the dragon’s head clean off and threw it to one side. He took a few deep breaths, the fight had take a fair bit out of him.
Standing there, after catching his breath he shoved his hand down the dragon’s throat, using his long, muscular, arms to reached all of the way down until he felt a small thing right at the bottom. He took it gently into his hand and pulled it out. When he opened his hand the small creature was laying in it.

The Dragon would lay dead, body finally entirely limp on the ground as Ryun Literally tore it's head from it's body. Blood pouring from the neck when Ryun moved in and shoved his arm down it's throat, the body still quite warm. By now the tiny griffin was passed out, it's breaths had become so short with the lack of oxygen that it couldn't stay awake.
It's tiny body was completely limp when Ryun's hand engulfed it entirely save for it's tail dangling free from his hand. It wasn't waking up and it's breaths were to shallow to hardly tell if it was even breathing at this point.
Looking around the area a good portion of the forest was destroyed, dirt having been thrown all around and trees having been destroyed with no way to regrow them. Splintered wood and leaves lying around, it would take many yeas for everything to regrow or even start to seem as if the forest hadn't been destroyed there.
The benefit of Ryun having managed to Kill the Dragon would be that he'd have dragon steaks and Scales he could use, selling, bartering or cooking any number of the things for gil or food. But the Small figure of the tiny griffin who was trying to save Ryun was still quiet.
As the little creature lay in his hand, its breaths getting shallower and shallower a brief show of emotion was on his face. It was Ryun’s fault why the little thing was in such a condition, and, even though it was one of his few healing items, he knew he had to use it to save the little thing.
Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a small bottle of liquid, and, using his teeth, uncorked it. He was not sure how it would work on the little thing, but, he would rather try and it not work than not try at all.
Using his little finger he opened the little thing’s mouth gently. Judging the size of and how much damage had been done he poured some of the healing potion into its mouth. He emptied about a quarter of the bottle, hoping the little thing would take the potion, and, hopefully, get better.

The tiny griffin would twitch, it's breath catching as the fluid took it's hold on it's tiny body. It wouldn't do very much for how it looked covered in drying dragon saliva, but with it's eyes opening it would gasp getting up. Looking around almost frantically before seeing the body of the dragon. Turning to look at Ryun again quickly enough it's eyes scanning him over rapidly, searching for any possible wounds as it wasn't sure what exactly happened.
Mister, Mister.. your well? what happened? Dragon is dead?
It turned and spun on Ryun's hands as much as it could, tiny paws shifting about as it looked around the area, seeing the forest destroyed where they were. The Small creature was still worried, still on edge as it could only assume more dangers would be upon them after such a rukus that had destroyed the area.
Mister mister.. we must go... must get to a safe path... please....
Ryun looked at the creature silently, the only real sound coming from him was the slightly harsh breath as he was still catching it after his fight with the dragon. When it stirred, even though briefly and, if someone was looking at him at that very second, a smile passed his lips, a sign that he was relieved that the little creature would be ok.
When the creature asked if he was well he nodded, “Yes, I am well.” Which was partly true, his ribs were a little saw from where he had been smashed in the torso by the dragon’s tail, but nothing that cause him serious pain. Then the creature went on the ask if the dragon was dead, and, since his head was ripped clean from its body Ryun could safely assume, that, yes it was dead, “Yes little one, the dragon has been dealt with.”
At the same time as the little creature looked around so did Ryun. He had not noticed it before, but, the fight between the dragon and himself did quite a bit of damage to the surrounding area. He judged how much, but, as the creature, yet again, pleaded for them to make haste, and take a safer path he nodded, “We will, but one moment.”
After he had said what he had said he walked over to the dragon’s head and torn out a fang, “A trophy, so to speak, more of a reminder of the fact there are creatures out there this powerful.” With that he pocketed the fang and said, “Lead the way little one.”
Post by delfisweetwater on Mar 18, 2013 18:47:08 GMT
The tiny little griffin sat their for a few moments before taking off, wings flapping as it watched Ryun gather something from the body of the dragon.
Mister needed a trophy? is for memories?
The small critter was thoroughly confused by the turn of events and Ryun's taking of a Trophy from the now dead dragon. Flying around a bit he'd land on Ryun's head, paws burying in Ryun's hair.
Must find the path and continue on Mister, forwards, forwards! south from here...
Turning his little head he'd glance back once more at the destruction that had taken place, a tiny sigh passing his beak as he'd look ahead again.
Mister travels alot yes? more dangers bound to happen...
As they started to walk Ryun nodded, “Yes, for memories, if I am to survive long enough to regain my memories, and to find my true purpose in this world, I must get stronger, the fang, is to help me remember that.” That was the truth, he did not take a trophy for egotistical purposes, it was just a helping hand in keeping him on track.
Continuing forward he heard they were to head south, and so, he did. As they walked he suddenly stopped and clutched his head, his eyes closing, and the first truly visible emotion passed his face, pain. As he clutched his head, it swimming with all kinds of things, he started to feel light headed, what is happening to me?
“Even on the darkest road your light will always guide me Ryun.” There was a strange voice in his head, of a woman. He had not know who it was, but, something about it seemed comforting, and filled him with warmth. “I time maybe brief together, but, you’ve shown me that I can be truly strong Ryun, thank you, now, never let your strength waver, not even in the darkest of times, my Behemoth of Besaid.”
And, as quickly as the swimming had started, it had stopped. He looked up at the sky for a second or two taking a deep breath before nodding and continuing to head south. He was unsure what the hell had just happened, or who the voice was, but, if he survived, his he continued on, one day, maybe, he would have those answer.

Still sitting atop Ryun's head when he mentioned it more as a memento that their were stronger creatures in the world, the small Griffin would flit off his head when he seemed to suddenly be in pain, or maybe confusion.
Mister Mister... Whats wrong? something happen?
Moving around on the ground for a few moments the small critter spun and looked around, Making chirp noises a moment before yelling out as much as it's tiny voice would carry.
What is out there! come out stop hurting my Friend! wait.... maybe is bugs...
Turning back to Ryun and pausing it looked at him as he seemed fine now, unsure of what truly had been happening before it tilted it's tiny head somewhat.
Mister is... ok? no more pain?
Ryun commenting to keep moving, the Griffin flitted back to the air, flying just beside Ryun now as they would begin moving onward once more.
Is old Fortress deep in forest Mister.. is where you wanna go?
Ryun stood there looking at the strange creature when he asked if there was no more pain. He did not truly know how to explain what had happened, it was like, something seeping into his mind from the blackness that was his memory, but, he supposed he should give it a try, “A fragment, of a memory, it returned, a woman’s voice, someone who use to depend on me, from what she had said.”
With that he continued on and looked around, trying to figure out what was calling him. It was not exactly a voice that was doing so, but, a feeling, a strange notion that was guiding his steps. He did not like not knowing, but he knew, if he was to find out what was happening, to him, to his body, to his situation, he would have to follow the feeling.
Suddenly he was snapped out of his concentrative state when the strange creature asked about if he wanted to do to an old Fortress deep within the forest. It seemed the most logical thing to do; maybe the source of the feeling would be there. He looked at the strange little creature and nodded, “Yes, I would like to go there.”

ahh. do not understand.. but if your ok. then is all good..
Nodding ever so slightly, still the little griffin didn't understand the whole in his head thing. It could just see that he was in pain, weather he could do anything about it was a different point entirely. After all he was just a little griffin.
Is not far, is a good place.. Safe place indeed!
Flitting around as they would continue on, the daylight fading quickly though as the crumbling walls of what was once probably a great fortress. Even as the louder sounds of beasts much like the dragon or worse were overtaking the forest, the little Griffin dropped to the ground and ran ahead.. staying only a few feet in font of Ryun but still pausing to look back at him.
Is good place for sure.. Big Big strong things used to live here. Kept place Safe they did..
Ryun nodded at the comment about him being alright. It was true, he did not fully understand it himself, however, from what he could gather, they were images, sounds, from the life he had before he washed up in Galbadia. Whether or not his memory would fully come back, well, that was a different matter entirely, never the less, he would have to wait and see on that front.
As the little creature started to move, so did Ryun, easily keeping pace with the thing. So, they were going to a safe place, which, he assumed was some kind of fortified building, and, if the dragon was anything to go by, they might just need it, as the night seemed to start taking over. As they continued he looked around paying note of the sights and sounds, but, through their walk, he remained silent.
