Elemental Resistances and You
Welcome Journey's End to another tutorial from your friendly neighbourhood overlord Belzera. On this instance I will be covering Elemental resistances, what they are, how they work and how you get these amazing things.
What are they?
Here on Journey's End we have eight elements that people will get battered and beaten with as well as batter and beat with but not everything is always going to be affected normally by all of the elements sometimes they might be resistant to some of them and on JE there are three different levels of resistance.
How they work?
Well as I said there are three levels of resistance and each one is progressively stronger than the last, they they are in ascending strength.
Resistant
When something is resistant to an element it means that they only take half damage from that specific element, this is the lowest resistance level and not too much of problem to deal with generally.
Immune
When something is immune to an element, well its all in the name really, they aren't affected by that element at all, they could walk through the harshest of spells without flinching with an Immunity, really difficult to deal with if you only focus on one element.
Absorb
The final and most troublesome level of elemental resistance, at this level the target is actually healed by the element in question which makes the use of the element a hinderance and it is a disastrous disability for some characters.
GIMME!?
So you want to have some of these resistances huh? If so there are a few guidelines you have to follow.
1 You are limited to 3 resistances.
We have eight elements, Fire, Earth, Water, Wind, Thunder, Ice, Light and Dark, now sure everyone wants to be immune to everything but in order to have at least some sembelance of balance we limit you to three, simply to make people think about what they want for their character.
2 You can't have everything at the highest level.
AT best you can have one absorb, 1 immunity and 1 resistance, otherwise it just gets ridiculous [oh you can absorb Earth, Wind and Water? Did fire insult your mother or something?]. However if you want two immunities and a resistance go ahead, heck you could have one immunity and two resistances if you really wanted and guess what you could even have three resistances instead.
3 Do not try to be greedy.
Really resistances are built up over a CA tree's development [or if you wanted to spread the development over several CA trees] So start off with a basic resistance at level one then when you get it to level two upgrade the resistance into an immunity and maybe add a resistance to another element.
4 THe resistances have to be seperate elements.
It probably does not actually need to be stated but this is just to cover the base just incase it needs to be cleared up. You can't have a resistance to something you are already immune too.
