Reaching the summit of the heap of scrap metal and broken wood, Tigg stopped to catch a breath. It was a short while after midday and the heat rising from under his feet was beginning to hit home. He often came to the scrapyard that rested just outside of Lindblum to search for old or damaged pieces of airship, or other materials that he could use in his various experiments. While he could quite easily get someone to find the parts he wanted, or even buy brand new components, the moogle techie always preferred to hunt down the objects himself. The manager of the dump and even allowed him to navigate the place unaccompanied, so frequent were his visits.
Today, Tigg was out to find a few more boilers and pressure vessels. His progress in his escapades had escalated lately, and the last of his stock had gone up in a cloud of vapour just last night. It had almost been a success, at least until the valve launched from its mounting, embedding itself in one of the roof supports. It had taken all morning to gather up all the shrapnel.
From his perch atop the mound, Tigg looked around, hoping to scope out any item that he could easily retrieve. Spying an strong looking prospect near the base of a neighbouring heap, he began the descent that would take him in the correct direction.

The sounds were coming from where you had just been stood and as you turned around you would come face to face with a young girl. She stood not too far behind you holding the head of a rabbit and not a toy one. The blood dripped from its neck onto the rubbish and on her black boots. She wore a black frilly dress with purple trimming which was the only colour on her. The young girl's face was pale as though she had been dead for days. She cocked her head as she looked at you and then slowly began to smile holding her arms out towards you.
"Oooh....a rabbit teddy bear.."
The girl walked slowly towards you until she was a few inches in front of you, she dropped her arms by her sides but continued to smile at you...

Facing the figure that had apparently followed him on his climb, Tigg couldn't help but be a little intimidated. The fact that the girl had intimated a similarity to the decapitated head that she carried didn't help.
"Excuse me Miss, but I am afraid that you are mistaken.*kupo* I am a moogle, not *kupo* "a rabbit teddy bear". Is there something I could help you with?*kupo*" Tigg didn't want to spend too much time in the girls presence, but he had the impression that she wasn't someone to aggravate.
Keeping a wary eye on the individual in front of him, tigg stood his ground and awaited her reply.

She glanced down to the rabbit head she held in her small hand as though this was the first time she was seeing it. The girl brought it slowly up and held it in front of you at her arms length.
"Bunny wouldn't play either."
Her little fingers uncurled around the rabbit's eyes where she was holding it and it dropped to the floor with a thud. With her left arm outstretched to the side she closed her eyes briefly and muttered something under her breath. A flash of gold light lit up the immediate area and in the girl's hand was a large scythe at least three times her size. How she was even able to hold this beast of a weapon was curious enough but she was also able to summon it out of thin air. She opened her eyes and looked to you with a beaming smile.

With the girls strange behavior and the long moment it took her to reply, Tigg couldn't help but think that she wasn't whole in the head. It was a harsh suggestion, and one he didn't like to consider. If it wasn't for the bloodied lump in the girls hand, he would have all but dismissed her.
As the girl released the severed head, Tigg felt a moments relief. Despite her statement, he hoped that she had suddenly lost interest in playing with furred things and would simply leave, her murmuring a simple prayer to the winds. This hope was immediately dashed with the scythes sudden flaring into existence.
The sudden change from disturbing to threatening and the obvious threat immediately set Tigg to combat readiness. Slowly pacing back, to gain distance, the moogle hoped his wrench would be able to withstand any strike he would hope to parry from the girls monstrous weapon.

Continuing to increase the distance, an odd thought crept into Tiggs mind. Perhaps what this girl meant by "play" was the combat that they were about to enter. If this was the case, he was going to have to put up with it. He didn't dislike such individuals, but they alway cut into his research time heavily. Reaching a comfortable distance, Tigg, brought his wrench around, ready to block any incoming attack. He wasn't about to start this mess, but he was going to do his best to come out on top. Besides you could always learn a few tricks in these situations.

The Girls glittering smile could only be described as unnerving, but it was less so than the reticence that she seemed to show in her attack. Her sudden rush and pause before the strike and retreat made it appear that she was testing Tiggs guard, possibly the beginnings of a more tactical pursuit. Something completely at odd with what he would have guessed about the strange individual before him.
Tigg had manged to catch the girls opening gambit between the tines of his wrench, the improbability of such a block sending reverberations through the moogles shoulders. Not wanting to go easy, yet unwilling to push too far just yet, Tigg flung forth a paired blast of tormented winds. He wouldn't fight here without taking measures himself.

It was apparent that his opponent hadn't enjoyed the nudge that his spells had given her. that was good. It meant that he wasn't going to be entirely at odds in this fight. The girl next gesture fractured this view. The storm that appeared at her beckoning was far from unfamiliar. "Pleasant" would be the furthest description of what this experience would be.
The bolt of energy surged through the mechanics body, charging up his arm from the wrench that acted as a conductor for the lightning. The shock set every hair on end. Even his pom-pom seemed to have tripled in size. Shaking his head to clear the buzz of static from his ears, Tigg simultaneously patted down the hair that smoked the most. He wasn't going to let anything he controlled burst into flame. That was only ever allowable in the 'shop.
"Time to up the tempo a little, I think." Using a technique he had taught himself, Tigg began to shift his thoughts to alchemy, merging the forms of magic into one. Flexing his body and mind, he hurled the confused miasma of wind and flame at his opponent, chasing after it with his wrench ready to swing into the girl. He hoped to get inside the arc of her scythe, where, with any luck, it would be harder for her to strike out at him. Without the energy bound to his kind, Tigg may have lost out with that last hit. Tigg was determined not to falter this early in the day. He wasn't done getting his salvage yet.
The young girl threw her large golden scythe to the ground and it shattered into tiny pieces which evaporated into the air. She looked directly at you and you could see and feel the rage rising within this young girl. Her eyes glazed over completely black as she began to slowly hover in the air. The dark clouds that formed with her magical attack returned accompanied by several loud cracks of thunder and lightning. Suddenly she let out an ear piercing scream which shattered every glass object broken or not.
"What the hell is going on here?! Fayette back to the castle...now."
Another womans voice boomed over the area and immediately the young girl dropped back down to the ground, she looked behind her to see something she clearly recognised. The woman had short black hair with red streaks, her hair seemed to go perfectly with her red pvc catsuit. Fayette pouted before she opened up a black portal to which she promptly jumped inside. The older woman groaned as she turend to face you.
"...and now she has thrown herself off balance thanks to you. I never really saw the need for you moogles...all you do is pretend to look cute and are utterly useless. Even the mail delivery is a shambles. What do you actually do little muff?"

Tigg reeled back in surprise at the sudden change in the circumstances. He kept his guard up, and his eyes focused on the girl, wary of any trick. What ever was happening, he didn't like it. Despite having moved far back enough to be outside of the girls immediate reach, Tigg retreated back further still at the look of rage in the girls eyes.
In a state confusion, the moogle could only watch as the girl rose into the air, the dark storm returning with greater intensity. He refrained from covering his ears as the girls shriek and the concussion of the storm blasted across the landscape, though he couldn't help but flinch as the noise slammed into him. Tigg shook his head, trying to rattle the buzz from his ears as an admonishing voice called down to the girl he had just fought, Fayette. Tigg, despite himself, could not help but be awed by the newcomer as she landed, her presence automatically dominating the scene.
Dimly aware of Fayette disappearing, kept his focus on the woman as she turned and berated him and his race for the actions of the girl. "I'm an engineer for the airships, I have nothing to do with the *kupo* Mail. And it's not my fault if other think my kind are cute. *Kupo* I don't like it myself, especially when you get the odd random individual diving at you so they can play with my *kupo* pom." Tigg let out a short growl, it was always obsessive attachment of needless hate when it came to moogles and the other races, in his experience. It always bothered him, never-mind that occasionally made his work difficult. "As for your girl, Fayette? She was unbalanced before she found me. Crept up behind me with a severed rabbit head, wanting to "play". The *kupo* thing was still dripping blood." Tigg strained the word play, putting forward that it didn't mean the norm as best he could. "I must thank you for you arrival though, I don't think I could've held up against her much more. She fights well." Despite the fact the girl was about to take his head, Tigg couldn't help but pay the compliment.

Once you had finished your explanation she sighed loudly before abruptly stopping and snapping her head back towards you. You could see the cogs working in her mind over something you had said. She walked towards you and knelt down, her pvc outfit squeaked and creased as she brought her eyes to your level.
"An engineer you say....hmmmmm."
A smirk crossed her lips after she had slowly licked them. With one quick move she had brought herself back up to her true height and was now facing away from you. Her arms were crossed under her chest as she began to slowly rock back and forth on her black heeled boots.
"So my furry friend, would it be safe to say you can build structures.....useful structures.....defensive structures?"

Tigg really couldn't get to grips with this newcomer. He had been able to understand Fayette to a certain extent, as he had occasionally encountered crews from military ships with similar drives, but this individual, apparently the girls master, was something different. A true enigma.
"I'm generally a mechanical engineer Ma'am. I usually work on the airships. Keeping them functional and the like." The moogle did his best to keep his tone polite and cheerful. Fayette had been difficult enough. If this went wrong, it would be worse. "I do also try to make progressive modifications. Making them more efficient. Or faster. Or capable of going further, carrying heavier loads. I don't know too much about fortifications, but i do know how to build strength into a structure. A bird can't fly without it's bones."
Tigg was determined to keep a respectful distance. He didn't know who this woman was, and her apparent desire for a strong defensible structure was worrying. He knew how to build an air frame that would stand up to the stresses of flight, but that wasn't even close to what he presumed Fayette's master wanted.

Struck by the suggestion that he work for this mysterious woman, Tigg took a moment to reply, suspicious of her intent. "I suppose I could, though I ask your name first. It's hard to accept a proposal from someone if you do not even have that information. My Name is Timbul Garumm, Airship Engineer and Mechanic." Tiggs chest swelled as he formally introduced himself. He was proud of who and what he was, even if others chose to segregate him. The fact they often did this for their own safety was irrelevant. "If I'm going to work for you though, pay isn't such a problem. Just make sure that I get assistance when I need it, and allow me time to conduct my research and testing. I do this work because I enjoy it, not because it is demanded."

She began to cackle and circle you, her black heels clicking against the discarded metal and junk under her feet.
"It's funny you presume to give me orders....you really have no clue who I am do you? My name is Biana and I lead an organisation called The Coven."
Biana said that as though it was was supposed to mean something to you? She promptly stopped walking and moved back around in front of you, she tilted her head to the side as in the distance a roar could be heard. She let a sly smile fall on her face but she swiftly turned her head back to you and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Not that it matters little one, it might be refreshing to have someone who isn't kissing my ass or cowering in terror. So we've established you could be of some use in one respect but how is your combat. You didn't stand a chance against my little sister but she isn't your....normal variety. Tigg held his ground as the woman circled. He had never heard her name, and he hadn't heard of the organisation that she proposed to lead, but he chose to hold his tongue on the matter. Though she seemed to be almost jovial about the situation, Tigg couldn't help but see her as a threat still.
"My combat experience is rather poor, I'm afraid. Working at the dock rarely requires it, and almost never calls for it. I am capable enough with magic, enough to dissuade any beast that may decide to prey on me out here, and send those that persist away with their tails between their legs." Timbul had learnt a fair share of tricks from those with a mind to teach him, or others that would find themselves space to practice in the docks, but he hadn't the confidence in those to mention them. Flipping his wrench, the moogle couldn't help but add;"And I can land a hefty swing with this, if needs be."
Taken off guard by his cheery outburst, Tigg took a step back, wary that the levity may sour the conversation.

Her red eye glinted in what sunlight had broken through the clouds, purple and red electricity crackled between her finger tips as she smirked. Several bursts of the coloured electricity shot out from her fingers and hit an invisible wall. The electric charge spread across the air to form a humanoid shape which began to move in a zombie like fashion. Biana cackled into the air as the electric humanoid slowly started to walk towards you. It seemed to have no weapons at first glance but it was made of pure magic and it was ready for a battle.
"Let's test your ability then. If you live then you might just be worthy of my protection."
Battle Begins!

The summoning of an enemy to fight was expected, in fact Tigg had hoped for it. After the fight against Fayette, the moogle dreaded combat against her older sister. Never-the-less, an elemental was a surprise. As the creature in front of him began to drag itself in his direction, Timbul was distinctly aware that a physical attack would be highly inadvisable against what was effectively living electricity. That left him with his magic. He just hoped that the magical entity was susceptible to the magics it did not represent. Unprepared to show all his skill, assuming the Lady had not yet seen it, Tigg decided to keep things simple. Bobbing back from the Elemental, inflating his pom-pom to reduce the effect the terrain would have, the engineer sent forth a duo of fireballs.

{Turn 1:The humanoid staggered towards you in a zombie like state, it had no expression it had no face really. Biana stood by the sidelines and watched great interest in how this battle would end, she hovered above one of the junk piles with her arms across. The electric humanoid let out a shriek as it raised one of its arms and unleashed a fairly strong thunder attack at you. Thunder used on Tigg -10MP +300 Damage - Spr=50 Magic Damage}

With a strike like that, it wasn't a great leap to assume that this fight would go much the same way as the fight with Fayette, but Tigg wasn't going to give up at the first signs of defeat. It wasn't in his nature.
Maintaining his distance, and keeping a weather eye open for a surface that would conduct the creatures energy away from himself, the moogle prepared another pair of spells. dropping to the ground to steady himself, Tigg summoned a blaze to strike the humanoid figure. He followed the attack with Aero, hoping to knock the entity off balance, in the vain hope of delaying its reaction. When in doubt, find room to think...

{Turn 1: The electric humanoid staggered backwards from your last two attacks which seemingly had it stunned, its shape began to distort as though you had altered the very fabric of its being. This was your chance to get in a few attacks before it regained its composure to strike you.... No Action Taken.}

Surprised that his plan had worked, Tigg came to the conclusion that it would be in his best interest to keep the creature off balance. The best way to do thta would probably be to do the unexpected. Taking the briefest of moment to take in the details of his surroundings, the engineer set himself a plan of action. Snatching up a loose piece of metal pipe that was sticking out from the debris surrounding the conflict, Tigg bobbed marginally closer to the golem, before hurling the chunk of scrap metal at the thing. He followed this with another blast from Aero. The plan was rough. Given the situation, that was a given, but Tigg thought and hoped that it would work. The proposal of a job that would give him leeway for his experiments wasn't so much a concern, but he had no doubts that Biana would have no issue letting her creature destroy him. Loosing wasn't a promising option.

{Turn 1: The humanoid creature staggered towards you with its electric arms in the air ready to bring them down onto your fluffy pom pon. Suddenly you felt a warm feeling rush through your body, your wounds were instantly healed. Biana hovered just behind the electric humanoid with a smirk on her face...did she just heal you? Not only that but she clicked her fingers and the humanoid frozen in place but you could see it was already trying to free of the invisible grasp. Biana stayed in the air with her arms crossed over her chest. Frozen for this turn.}

Tigg wasn't a warrior, but that didn't mean he couldn't fight. Though he wasn't sure of Bianas motives, he wasn't about to pass up on an opportunity. Setting aside his confusion at her actions, the moogle made a mental note to ask the witch why she assisted in the fight. She had arranged the combat to test his skills, so it was probably just a way to prolong things.
Retreating from the creatures range once more, Tigg set about continuing the magical bombardment. Catching his breath, Tigg prepared another pair of fireballs. Throwing the burning masses one after the other, a singular thought came to the fore.
If I pass this test, I really need to learn some more spells...

The creatures sudden shift into melee combat from its frozen state was a surprise. Tigg had hoped that the creature would be held for a short while longer, but he was glad for the brief reprieve none the less. The golems clumsiness against a smaller opponent was also a blessing.
Finally spotting a piece of scrap that met the demands of the situation, Tigg blasted Bianas creature with a shot of Air magic to slow it, before rushing after the item. Pulling the rubber coated rod from the mess, he charged back towards the monster, swinging at with as much force as he could muster.
