Infront of the presidential palace stood two men in silver and blue armour which both had a strange pick-axe like blade strapped onto their waists, they where stood upright and on either side of the entrance to the presidential palace, you could feel their attention fixate upon you before their hands move to hover over the hilts of their strange blades. The one of the left takes a step forward and speaks to you, his voice sounding strange, but you couldn't place why.
Upon approaching the large building, it was obvious he had been spotted when he was greeted by two men in blue uniforms, their arms reaching toward strange, blade like weapons. They reminded him more of axes, in all honesty, but that didn't really matter as his own hands began reaching for his own blades. Realising that was probably a bad idea, considering he was the intruder in this situation, he instead let them fall to his sides as drew as close as he dared.
Listening to them, there was something rather odd about the voice of the one who spoke, but he couldn't place. Hoping that there was no real reason for this, he tried to keep his hands from moving around too much as he spoke. It was a bad habit in these lands, one he had quickly learned could be misinterpreted in certain situations.

"I'm looking for President Laguna, is he here?" Short and straight to the point was pretty much Noel's style. Long winded small talk was hardly appropriate in this situation anyway. [/div]
"This is the presidential palace, state your business and name"
The two gaurds seem to relax slightly after their reply to you, the one addressing you crosses his arms infront of his chest as he seems to look at you, the other steps back and lowers his hand before he starts to glance around no longer paying attention to you. The other guard lifts his hand to the side of his head before he looks away for a moment. You could barely hear his strange voice talking seemingly to himself.
"No more visitors? Situation in Galbadia? Okay"
The guard then looks at you and speaks up properly this time.
"The president is currently busy so there are no available open appointments"
Noel folded his arms as one of the guards turned away and began seemingly talking to himself. There was something about this place and these people that made him feel uneasy, probably because it was all far from what he was used to. This was in many respects a whole new world, a world in the prime of it's life, and he couldn't help but feel a little sad knowing that one day this world would become the one in which he was born in - barren and devoid of the sentient life that had worked so hard to make the world what it was in this time.
As the guard returned, Noel frowned as he unfolded his arms and placed one on his forehead in mild frustration. Surely he hadn't come all this way for nothing? Now what was he supposed to do?

"Okay, any idea when he will be available?" Probably pointless asking, but it was worth a try. [/div]
He sighs softly and shakes his head slightly from side to side obviously in response to your question, maybe he thought it was a stupid one or maybe there was another reason behind it, whatever the reason he answers your question with a neutral tone.
"Try back in several days, heck you might even be lucky and get in to an open appointment by chance."
With that the guard then waves you off before turning away from you and moving back closer to the palace doors before he turns back around and crosses his arms infront of his chest. It seems like you had no choice but to stick around in this place for a few days in order to even get a chance to speak to the president, you would have to find somewhere to stay... Civilization certainly was a strange kettle of fiends.
Several days? That wasn't what Noel had hoped to hear, but if that was the way things were then there was little he could do about it. He couldn't help but wonder what it was that had taken the president out of town for that long. Then again, that wasn't any of his business and if he really wanted to talk to him, he would have to wait. It wasn't as if he had anywhere else to go and he supposed their was plenty of time. Technically, he hadn't been born yet!
Turning back toward the main city, the young hunter felt more lost than he had in a long while. Not since that time had he felt so lost and hopeless as he did right now, not even when he had first found himself in Lindblum. That was a big place, but Esthar was bigger still, and full to the brim with technology that he was familiar with only from stories. Everything and everyone was so different here that he felt extremely out of place, again more so than in Lindblum. What was he supposed to do now anyway, he wondered as he wandered aimlessly.
It would be his growling stomach that gave him a clue as to his next move. He was sure that there would be plenty of places to find a bite to eat, but it all cost gil. He had a little on him, but he didn't know how long he would be stuck here for and he would need to spend that on somewhere to stay. Perhaps he could try hunting for his meal on the city outskirts. Paying would be easier, but there was something about the thrill of the hunt that he was beginning to miss. Perhaps if he had no luck there, then he could find somewhere to buy it. That was a luxury that just didn't exist in his time, so he would rather not get too used to it. Besides, the more gil he could save, the better, as a place to stay around here could prove very expensive indeed.
The City is certainly a strange place for you to navigate thankfully with you only having a vague goal your wanderings wouldn't drive you insane and after some time you would find yourself greeted by what seemed to be an exit down onto the wild plains that surround Esthar.
At the exit stood several more of those same type of guards as you had seen outside the presidential building however behind them rested a strange thing, you could only hazard a guess that it was a machine, it seemed to be a large orb hanging under a set of four appendages that hovered slightly above the ground, soon after you notice them the guards seem to notice you however these guards don't approach you and instead return their gazes out into the wilds around Esthar.
OOC: You've now found the exit of Esthar that leads to the surrounding area, you may either venture forth or you can return back into Esthar to look for work.
It took some doing, but finally the exit was in sight. More soldiers flanked the gate, but it appeared that they had no interest in stopping him from leaving the city, instead returning their gazes toward the open plains.
Something else caught his attention though, as his eye feel upon what was presumably some kind of machine. An orb hung overhead with a set of appendages of some kind hanging above it. Noel didn't even like to guess what this thing was and what it did, so instead he returned his gaze past the guards and onto the open field.
Ready to venture out into the unknown, something he had been doing a lot of lately, a thought suddenly occurred to him. Perhaps there would be a way of making some gil in the city, and then he would have at least a contingency plan, should his meal prove hard to come by. At least that was an option in this world, rather than alternative than he was used to. He had seen an inn of some kind, or hotel as was written on the front, on his way through the city. Perhaps the means could be in there? Either that or someone could point him in the right direction, he supposed. Ignoring his hunger for the time being, he decided to retrace his steps until he found this hotel place again.
You eventually trace your way back to the place that you recall seeing sign that had inn written on it and that was strangely located near the port leading into town and as you push the doors open and ste-
The blow sends you backwards across the plains the sword piercing through your right leg, blood covering your left arm and you can feel more running down your face. With a cruel smile he dashes towards you and slams his shoulder into you as his hands grip tightly around the thin hilt of the sword that allows him to rip the sword out of your leg as he sends you flying backwards, with a luagh he smiles and throws the sword at her prone form while you still reel from his shoulder barge.
p through the door you find yourself feeling disorientated as the world seems wrong for a moment, how long would your mind take to catch up?
At least this time Noel had some kind of a clue as to where he was going, so the aimless wandering would be slightly lessened. Esthar was still a hard place to navigate, but at least it didn't take him long to find the building he had been searching for. The large sign over the door was a big giveaway, and he smiled as he made his way over.
He had just made to push the door open, when all of a sudden he was somewhere else. Confusion soon gave way to pain as he felt himself thrust backward by a sharp blow to his leg. Regaining his composure, Noel looked down to see the long, thin blade still embedded firmly within his flesh. He would also notice the pool of blood slowly forming beneath him and realise that it oozing from a large wound cut into his left arm! Also feeling something warm flowing slowly down his face, Noel panted as he began to feel nauseous. His vision was clouded in red as he attempted to blink it out and get a good look at his attacker. The strong, metallic taste in his mouth would have been overbearing, had he not been reeling so much from his other injuries! He cried out as he was heavily barged by his assailant and the sword was pulled from it's fleshy sheath almost in one smooth motion! Knocked to the ground, it was almost a blessing that he couldn't see the mess that the limb that had once been his right leg was in. Breathing became more difficult, as he fell to the ground from his injuries and the force of the barge. Once again, he could see only the outline of those who had hunted him down. They were too familiar, but that was impossible right? Another ragged breath escaped his lips as a single tear ran down his face, mingling with the blood that had already blotted his fading vision...
...and then he was back in Esthar. Blinking, Noel pushed the door open almost as if he was on auto pilot. Breathing heavily, anyone who had seen him entering would have thought he had seen a ghost of some kind! Staggering into the nearest seat, the young hunter attempted to once again regain his composure and make sense of what had just occurred. The disorientation would hopefully wear of as everything around him felt so surreal. If anyone spoke to him, it would be a short while before he answered as he tried to make sense of everything. Was he dead? No, no bleeding, but how? Right now, Noel was one very confused and disorientated young man!

The passage of the next few hours would seem to be a blur to you, somehow you found yourself with a room, a meal and you can recall talking to various people but the details of the period of time was vague and disjointed, thinking back on the period of time maybe you could conclude that it was just an after affect of whatever had happened as you entered, yet you couldn't be sure, here and how in this first moment of clarity or at least a moment where everything wasn't a blur you found yourself sat on the rented bed with a piece of paper in your hand and a pouch of gil in the other.
When you finally open up the paper you see a picture of a beast on it and a bounty price, if you read further into it you would find out that the creature was called a Coeurl a dangerous but rare fiend that seemed to be prowling around a place called the Sorceress Memorial, obviously this was someone giving you a hand on the cash front.
The next few minutes, or perhaps even hours, passed by in a blur, and it was some time before Noel felt truly lucid once again. He was aware that he had paid for a room and had something to eat, but everything passed in an almost dreamlike manner. At least this place was warm though, that was certainly a lot better than he had been used to lately, and the bed he had found himself upon was soft and springy. The most intriguing part though, were the things that he held in his hands. A pouch of gil and a piece of paper...how had they gotten there, he wondered as his head finally cleared and he felt more himself again.
Rubbing his head, the vision he had seen was still as vivid in his mind as it had been when he had been a part of it. Had he seen his own future or something? He hoped not, especially as the faces involved had been so unclear. How could he prevent it, or was it a fate that could not be avoided?
Putting these thoughts aside for now, Noel looked down at the slightly crumpled sheet of paper and gingerly began to unravel it. An image of a rather dangerous looking fiend adorned the page, along with a reward for it's 'removal' from a place known as the Sorceress' Memorial. Quite how he had come to possess it, along with what he assumed was a prepayment of some kind, he had no idea, but he supposed he had best check it out. Jumping from the bed, looked around for the rooms exit, before leaving it, and the inn behind.
Asking for directions along the way, he eventually reached the location described on the bounty note. It seemed a lot of people knew of where it was he spoke, but were rather reluctant to venture there themselves. They spoke in hushed voices, making him wonder what it was he had inadvertently signed up for.
As you reach the large memorial by exiting Esthar and heading out into the plains you had stood before and you infact would of seen it half an hour before you finally arrived at it and as you drew close you would see a strange figure stood just aways from you. It was possibly a woman but the robe made it hard to be sure, she turns to look at you, the hood of the robe hiding her face.
"Hey you might want some stock before you go in there [-]"
And with that she kneels down and throws down a bag of what looks to be glass bottles.
"Potions are 100, Hi Potions are 500, Ethers are 400, Pheonix Pinion is 3000 gil"
The woman speaks up before she steps back.
OOC: you have 2000 Gil to spend, plus any Gil you have earnt/got outside of this thread.
Crossing the plains, Noel couldn't help but notice the huge 'memorial' not too long after he had left the city. Who was this sorceress, and why was the place so big, he wondered as he craned his neck and shielded the sun from his eyes to get a better look. If that was what it looked like from here, then closer up the structure was surely immense indeed! He could say one thing for sure about Esthar and those who lived within - size was everything!
It was a long walk to reach his destination, but thankfully Noel didn't have too much trouble reaching it. Would he be allowed entry into the facility though? That remained to be seen, but for now he would just see what was going on. His target was in there somewhere and even though he couldn't remember doing so, he had promised someone he would take care of it. They must have been rather desperate anyway, given that they had paid him in advance. He only hoped that once he'd been successful, which he was pretty confident he would be, that the client approached him as he couldn't remember who they were or what they looked like.
Spying the hooded figure at what was presumably the entrance, he had little time to say or do too much before she approached with her offer. May as well take her up on it, he thought. Couldn't hurt to have a few items to play with in there, just in case.

"Thanks! think I'll take one hi-potion, two ether and one phoenix pinion. That's 4300 gil, right? He was sure he had enough, but he would need to check, he thought as he began to count both the gil he had on him and what was in the bag. Yes, that should be enough, he nodded to himself." [/div]

The woman lets out a gleeful sound as you respond to her and picking up her bag she rummages through it before she quickly tosses you a small pouch which with a quick glance you could see contained the items you asked for before holding out her small hands, which seemed to be covered with red feathered gloves before pocketing the gil and stepping aside with a slight bow she speaks.
Satisfied with his purchases, Noel thanked the girl again as he made his way past. What was this place anyway, he wondered as he began to make his way up the many steps. Was the monster inside the building or outside somewhere? Noel really did wish he'd had enough lucidity to ask whilst he was taking the job, but then he had no memory of doing so or who the client was. He really did hope he hadn't allowed himself to be taken advantage of, but there was no way of really knowing.
Reaching the top of the stairs, Noel looked the building up and down, before turning around to face the wilderness. Something told him that he really shouldn't be going inside, but then there was little point anyway if the mark was in the outside area. Using his new higher vantage point, Noel glanced around the below field for any sign of what he could have missed from ground level.
